Molewhisker accompanied by Tawnystripe | OwlClan camp Molewhisker didn't like how small the apprentice's den was. His shoulders touched both sides of the den which made it hard for him to lean in. How did I ever fit in here when I was younger... and smaller? he mused, still glancing into the bramble den with glazed eyes.
The sudden feeling of his tail being swatted at caused the classic tabby to jump. Yet the voice that followed seemingly put him to ease. It was Tawnystripe, thank StarClan! At least he wouldn't have to enter the apprentices' den like a complete featherbrain. He quickly turned around to face her, beaming with joy.
"Waiting for me, huh? I'm stunned, really," he teased, leaning in to brush his nose against her cheek. He was glad he had found Tawnystripe after his embarrassing moment in the tight apprentice den.
Molewhisker purred at his mate's description of the den. His mind began to wander back to the yelp he had heard though. Could it have been the brown torbie? He would have to ask.
"Maybe the apprentices should spend more time in the berry patch. It's not that far from camp and I'm sure it would be just as comfortable," he joked, still purring. The tom's focus on the conversation changed quite quickly. "Wait, Tawnystripe. Were you the cat who yelped?"

( all my other cats are open too, if anyone wants ~ )
Shrikehop with Foxblaze in the elder's den @ Tealraven The night had been a restless one for Shrikehop, full of discomfort and pain. He had given up on sleep a long while ago but had resisted the urge to seek out the medicine cat assigned night duty. Poppy seeds made him so discombobulated, he loathed the feeling of not being able to form proper thoughts or words. Mostly, the herbs made him feel weak.
As a young warrior, the tom had never experienced an injury this severe, even with his perpetual clumsy paws. Scrapes, bruises, sprains, and twists. Shrikehop had experienced them all, but never a break. This was unknown territory. He heaved a quiet sigh, trying to find the smile that was his constant companion. Everything would turn out alright! Wildpetal and Crowfrost hadn’t told him he was a hopeless case!
Shrikehop’s internal battle between post-injury depression and his usual optimism was becoming external. His pelt was half-groomed, a clear sign he’d tried to put in some effort and then lost steam halfway through. The strain around his green eyes faded and reappeared just as quickly, as he fought to keep from wallowing in the agony that shot up from the raw nerves in his leg. His shoulders were relaxed, his spine straight, but his head hung a bit lower on his neck. The ready smile on his muzzle was present but forced.
Then there was his leg. He currently stared at the wrapped appendage as though if he looked hard enough, the break would mend from sheer force of will. The soft call of his name brought his attention away and Shrikehop almost let out a cry of relief. He hated this den, it was so lonely. Warmth filled his green eyes at the sight of his sister, waving his tail in greeting.
“Hey, Foxblaze. Come to hide from your adoring fans?” he teased lightly, knowing his sister collected rivals like some cats collected burrs in their coat. Shikehop never felt the need to compete with her though, at least not for serious ego reasons. For fun or as a joke when they were young possibly. He admired his sister’s spirit and her skill as well.

FOXBLAZE elders' den / with shrikehop Foxblaze smiled a genuine smile; a rare expression for her that made her look much younger and more innocent than she normally did. She padded over to join him, carefully stepping around the nests and keeping her voice low to avoid waking the elders. That, too, was unusual for her. "They just can't get enough of me," she joked wryly, rolling her eyes. "Had to come in here to escape the attention of Oakengaze and Ashstripe. You know how it is."
She seated herself next to Shrikehop's nest, glancing over his rumpled coat. She hesitated for an awkward moment, wondering if he would appreciate it if she helped groom his fur or if it would just embarrass him. Probably the latter. It's not what she would want if she were in his place. "You seemed to be enjoying as much attention as me recently," she said, thinking of the pile of toms she'd seen outside the elders' den a week ago. Beartuft in particular seemed to visit a couple of times a day, which made her feel slightly better about not checking in as often.

Tawnystripe Apprentice's Den Mole, Sage Tawnystripe purred, leaning into Molewhisker's touch and relaxing into his presence. He was the only cat that made her feel strong enough to let down her guard; if something happened --to them, to their kits, to OwlClan-- they would deal with it together. The tension she held drained from her paws and she felt lighter with Molewhisker's light teasing and jokes, familiar to her as a shared breath. It was a loss when the brown tabby pulled back. "Wait, Tawnystripe. Were you the cat who yelped?" Ah! So that's how she had come to find him talking to the empty apprentice's den. Tawnystripe twitched her whiskers in amusement. "It was. I'd caught my paw on a thorn." She licked the fur on her shoulder to lessen the embarrassment with a shrug. "I'd bleed from a hundred thorns if it meant I knew Jumppaw was sleeping safe inside," she added softly, words meant just for Molewhisker as Sageheart approached the den's entrance beside them. The grey she-cat stuck her head inside just as Molewhisker had moments before, and the parallel made Tawnystripe purr with laughter. She shared a quick glance with her mate, a smile on her face and twinkling her eyes. "Sageheart!" she called. "The apprentices are out while I was fixing the den, you'll have to look for Jumppaw elsewhere." Oddly enough, Tawnystripe didn't know where her youngest had gone off to. She couldn't have left camp, not with Sageheart and Beartuft still in sight, and Jumppaw wasn't one to wander off. Not like her Foxblaze. "Perhaps the roots behind the leader's den?" she suggested, knowing that was the common haunt for apprentices with too much time on their paws that couldn't leave the camp walls; she remembered sneaking time with Sandhawk and Lightningstar there once, before they had become warriors and learned that the root walls had ears, namely Jaystar's, since the leader's den butted up adjacent. Perhaps that was why apprentices were encouraged to play there, so that the leader could always keep an ear out for them. Ah, she could respect that.

Brambleshade: Camp Chiveseed, Amberfire, mentioned Foxblaze
Brambleshade flicks his ear at Foxblaze but doesn't say anything. He turns his attention back to Chiveseed and tilts his head to the side. He ought to say something yet she didn't look like she wanted to talk. He decided to linger in his nest for a little longer before slowly rising to his paws. "Suppose I ought to get moving or else Amberfire will force me out." He said mostly to himself. Brambleshade waits for a few moments before finally leaving.
"Look who finally decided to get up!" A voice called out to him. At that moment, Brambleshade considered retreating, but thought better of it. "Dear sister, do you forget I stay up late to keep you and our clanmates safe?" Amberfire twitches her whiskers at him amused. "Still, you need to get up and stretch your legs and eat! I'm about to go hunting care to join me?" Brambleshade considered her offer before shaking his head. "I'll head out a little later. Right now, I want to just enjoy the silence while the blue team is gone."
"Suit yourself! I'll try and catch something for ya." She says before turning and making her way to the entrance. Brambleshade lets out a small sigh before chuckling a little to himself. This was almost a daily occurrence. She would always try and drag him out hunting at the break of dawn to get a head start on the prey. Where she got all that energy baffled him. He settles down on his haunches and lets himself listen to the sounds around him.

Jumppaw with Sageheart, mentions Tawnystripe and Molewhisker Owlclan camp @ 𝙵𝚎𝚛𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚙 , Jumppaw was a good most-of-the-way-through a shrub, one of the odd collection around camp that didn't have thorns. It wasn't part of the walls, or one of the dens, or anything of importance, so it didn't have thorns woven into it, and therefore it was the perfect place to avoid, well, everybody. She hadn't slept well, but she also hadn't wanted to stick around the den, not with pink team repairing it.
Her mother would know something was wrong, and then her father would too, and then she'd look around and thirty different siblings plus Tigergleam would be concerned and worried. She knew she was taking the border argument too seriously. Foxblaze had it all handled, if there'd been a fight she would've been fine, she'd said so herself.
But whatever cats said, they'd still lost Mossy Stones. She watched her grandmother walk into camp, the side of her face scarred, and she thought about what would happen to her if Flickerfang hadn't managed to win that fight, and Jumppaw shivered in her bush.
At least, until she saw Sageheart poking her head into the apprentice den. And with Tawnystripe and Molewhisker watching. Mouse-dung. She wove her way out of the bush, and padded up behind the adults. "Are you looking for me, Sageheart?" She tried to muster some enthusiasm. "Is it time for training?"
Flickerfang with Open, mentions Molewhisker and Finchflight Owlclan camp @
Flickerfang strode through the entrance to camp, carrying the two mice she'd found in black team's hunting patrol. One was immediately dropped on the fresh kill pile, and the other she kept as she swished her tail around her feet to curl neatly in the sunshine, right in the center of camp where anyone could approach her for anything.
That was definitely getting better. There had been no obvious shift in her weight there, no limp in her forepaw, no inaccuracy in tossing the prey to the fresh kill pile on her blind side. She'd mostly given up on hiding her situation from her team, out in the forest with Molewhisker and Finchflight. They were, after all, in the unfortunate position of having to cover for her new weaknesses. But in camp, at least, she was as she had always been. So long as she moved quickly, and carefully, and didn't let her weight linger on her Starclan damned leg. Flickerfang bit into her mouse, savouring it's fresh meat, and absorbed the sounds of camp around her.

Jadepaw turned her head towards her Clanmate. She wasn't really restless, or at least she didn't think that she was. She didn't know if she was restless. Maybe she was. Maybe she was so bored from having nothing to do. Jadepaw
"Yes," Jadepaw replied, flicking back her brown tail back. "I assume I am looking for a little something to do. Hopefully my mentor will take me hunting soon," Jadepaw looked around to see if she could spot Rowanspots among the cats.
She yawned. She wasn't tired, maybe just bored from sitting around all day. Maybe one of the other apprentices would want to hang out with her. She wasn't sure if Oakengaze could really do anything about it, she wasn't Jadepaw's mentor. Even if Oakengaze was older than Jadepaw, she wasn't sure about the limits to her power.
"Did you have anything in mind?" Jadepaw asked. It was a dumb question in her opinion, but she didn't know what else to say. (mmmm late replies let's go)

Oakengaze pondered this. "Well," she said, "if you're bored enough there's always something to do in the elder's den." She added a teasing note to the end of her sentence, expecting the apprentice to groan at the thought. When Oakengaze was an apprentice her friends would always bemoan elder duties, though Oakengaze had personally enjoyed the chores. She liked listening to the elders' stories, found them hilarious and fascinating, connecting with the older cats a little more easily than with her peers. Plus the simple chores were satisfying cycles to complete - once they were done, they were done, and Oakengaze could be satisfied with a job well done. It was an honor to ensure the comfort of their elder warriors, she felt.
"We could also bring something for the kits," she added as a suggestion.

Jumppaw with Sageheart, mentions Tawnystripe and Molewhisker Owlclan camp @ 𝙵𝚎𝚛𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚙 , "Oh, uh, hunting sounds fantastic!" What it actually sounded like was Not Combat Training, which was, Jumppaw was sure, basically the only thing she cared about. Where would they go, though? Mossy Stones, absolutely not, the Graveyward was terrifying, and Lightning Oak had owls in it sometimes, those things could kill a cat. "Uh... Do you think there's prey along the Shallow Pool creek?"
Jumppaw padded up beside Sageheart and ducked forward to give Molewhisker, her nearest parent, a little gentle bunt. There. See, mother and father? Your kit is fine. Your kit is being a good apprentice. "It's been dry lately, maybe something will come to drink? I'm ready to head out when you are."

Ashstripe Elder's Den Fox, Shrike Border patrol. It wasn't the worst task in the world, though it was hard to make a mark on the peaceful CrowClan side of the territory. But that's what Flickerflame assigned them, and so she'd have to find the rest of blue team to go. She saw Jadepaw was talking with Oakengaze and decided she'd find the apprentice's mentor first and come back to get Jadepaw after since she was occupied. The thing was, she didn't see Rowanspots. The elder's den was closeby, though, and Ashstripe knew that Shrikehop's siblings often visited in the morning. Sure enough, she saw Foxblaze's familiar ginger fur when she popped her head into the bush. "Hey, Foxblaze. We have patrol. CrowClan's border," Ashstripe said. She dipped her head to Shrikehop in his nest, looking half-groomed. "Shrikehop," she greeted, but didn't know what to say after that, so she just nodded again awkwardly and scooted back out of the den before the emotion could really hit her. One down. Ashstripe decided to check the warrior's den next, a path that passed by the fresh-kill pile as well as a few other popular dozing spots. Hopefully she'd find her other two teammates there. It wasn't like they could go far, not without the entire team; Ashstripe may not like being in the same group every time, but she sure did appreciate that everyone was usually only a few pawsteps away when she needed to find them.

FOXBLAZE owlclan camp / with blue team; mentions shrikehop After quietly chatting and exchanging recent news with Shrikehop for awhile, another voice broke into their conversation. A gratingly familiar voice. Foxblaze didn't have to turn her head to know who it was. She gritted her teeth and forced out, "on my way." She sighed and rose to her paws, shaking each leg in turn to rid herself of the pins and needles. "Sorry, Shrike. Gotta go. I'll... try to come back soon." She glanced around, first making sure no one was looking, then touched her tail to her brother's flank in an uncommon gesture of affection. "See you around."
Ducking her head, Foxblaze backed out of the elders' den, squinting against the bright sunlight as her eyes readjusted. She looked around for Ashstripe and spotted the grey tabby by the freshkill pile talking to Rowanspots. Wrinkling her nose at the idea of having to talk to them again so soon after the-- the incident, Foxblaze marched over to join them. "Hey." She jerked her chin upward in a gruff greeting. "Where's What's-his-face?" She asked, meaning Quietface. "Or are we leaving without him again?" Which would be fine with her, in all honesty.

Jumppaw with Sageheart Headed to Shallow Pool @ 𝙵𝚎𝚛𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚙 , "N-no." Jumppaw stumbled in her meow, ears casting back to try and figure out if her parents would still be able to hear her. "No, of course not, everything's fine. I'm super keen to-" To do what, exactly. Play? She didn't get to do that anymore, not with Cricketpaw working the nights. Explore? By herself? Definitely not. Go get into a fight and die a stupid death so that the border moved two inches?
Jumppaw's tail drooped as she thought about it. "...to hunt, I guess."

Ashstripe Camp Fox, Rowan, Jade, Quiet She was glad she'd found Rowanspots so quickly; he had been just out of view of the elder's den, but after rounding the side of the tree she had nearly run into the speckled brown tom. Ashstripe had just finished giving him Flickerfang's patrol orders when Foxblaze returned, having said her farewells to her brother Shrikehop, she assumed. "Hey. Where's What's-his-face?" the ginger she-cat called as she came to join them. Foxblaze looked like she'd stepped in mud. "Dunno," Ashstripe said with a shrug. She knew Quietface didn't like her --didn't like the team at all, really, which was understandable-- but they were a team, which had to count for something. "Jadepaw is talking with Oakengaze though." Ashstripe waved her tail in their general direction. She shrugged again, since it was Roawnspots' job to keep track of his apprentice, even if all of blue team had to work around Jadepaw's training sessions with the other apprentices. "We should at least try to find him," she finally said. Though how hard they would try was up for debate.

"He did?" Maybe it would help then. She didn't really see the appeal in hunting, but at least it wasn't scary. And Sageheart didn't seem to want to press her about her feelings, which was nice. Being the smallest kit of such a big family, with such protective parents, sometimes it felt like she wasn't allowed to not be as fiery as Foxblaze, as tough as Fickerfang, as competent as Tawnystripe or Tigergleam, as steady as Molewhisker. They were just... so brave, and dedicated, and strong, and perfect members of the clan, and she didn't see how she'd ever even pretend to be that, not when the thought of a Swanclan face over the border made her fur stand on end. "Uh," she sniffed, deeply. "Maybe? Maybe... over there?"

- - - ( was listening to music the other day and it hit me that Oh No - Marina and the Diamonds is such a Foxblaze theme song ) - - - FOXBLAZE owlclan camp / with blue team & jadepaw Foxblaze's scowl deepened. "We're taking Jadepaw again?" It wasn't that she was concerned about her-- no, one of her teammates -- potentially embarrassing themselves in front of the younger cat and setting a poor example; no, of course not. Totally not even a concern for her. Pshaw. But having an apprentice with them could slow them down. "Fine. Go round her up, Rowanspots." A grin flickered across her muzzle and was gone. Rowanspots had become the de facto leader of the team (despite Foxblaze's best efforts) and she knew it nettled him when she tried to give orders.
The fiery orange molly padded over to the warriors' den, passing the freshkill pile on the way. Her stomach rumbled quietly. It had been awhile since she'd had breakfast... but lunch could wait until she got back. She wouldn't be the one to hold up her team, unlike some cats. Speaking of which... She tore her gaze away from a particularly plump-looking squirrel and strode over to the bush. "Hey, Quietface? You in here?" She called, poking her head into the warriors' den. "Naptime's over, we're on border patrol."
She returned to Ashstripe's side and shrugged. "I tried." She lifted her green eyes to Rowanspots, who was collecting Jadepaw from her conversation with Oakengaze.

"Small," that was her first thought, her voice a tiny whisper. "Uh, earthy? Probably too much to be squirrel." but then, telling whether it was vole or mouse was harder. Both were smaller, and ate vaguely similar things.
If she caught it, she'd find out. Jumppaw shrugged, and started tracking the scent. She isolated it to a little minature looking path, like that sort warriors wore through the forest, only for far tinier paws. "Mouse?" She guessed softly, tail pointing out the path.

"..That would be nice my team did leave me behind since i got distracted which is my fault but .. going hunting would be nice!"
Finchflight's ears perked up upon hearing Quietface's answer. He felt a tingle of pride, being able to take a Clanmate he didn't know well on an adventure. Perhaps working with someone new would provide decent hunting tips? "Wonderful, I'm sure they won't mind. We'll make it up to them as well. You're forgetting I got left behind as well." he quickly mewed to cheer Quietface up.
However, he jerked when he heard Quietface's remark about himself. Quickly deciding to act like he heard nothing, he scratched his ear. "Lightningstar wouldn't make him a warrior if he wasn't capable.." Finchflight thought to himself. "Better keep an eye on him, he could do something reckless to prove himself."

Mouse had been right then. Sighing, Jumppaw tried to focus in on the hunt, to let herself get lost in it. She crept forward, down the mouse trail, paws quietly one in front of the other... but no, the trail darted under a bush between two oaks. Her tail twitched s she thought, then Jump edged around instead of through, giving the trail bush a wide berth as she circled the oak tree. Freezing, she watch the leaf litter twitch with prey movement. Was she close enough? Should she get closer, the leaves would be hard ground to avoid sound on, maybe she should stay put. The indecision caught at her, leaving her stuck and frozen as slowly, as time stretched out, a little head popped up beneath the leaves, and started to turn toward-
She pounced, fell short, and the mouse ran for it's trail, headed under the bush towards Sageheart. Ugh. Jumppaw lowered her head into the muddy leaves.

Molewhisker accompanied by Tawnystripe | OwlClan camp, apprentice's den Molewhisker purred heavily as Tawnystripe leaned into him. He loved Tawnystripe and their kits more than anything he had ever known. He always felt comfortable and more like himself when he was with her. They meshed together well in his mind and their kits had a strong pair of parents too. He knew he and Tawnystripe would do anything for their kits and the Clan by working together.
The brown tabby tom shook his head despite letting out a small chuckle which turned into a purr of pride. The tabico before him really was amazing. She always has been. "Is your paw okay? Maybe you should see Wildpetal or Crowfrost if it has bled yet," he mewed with concern. His expression waned. He was worried that Tawnystripe would be in pain as that was something he would never want for her.
A small purr rumbled in his throat at the mention of Jumppaw. The tabico's comment was one of love, affection, protection. He loved Tawnystripe for that. He too would do the same for her and all of their kits.
When Sageheart appeared, Molewhisker dipped his head in greeting. She was soon off after the warrior gave her suggestions as to where Jumppaw was. He hoped that his youngest kit would enjoy training today. He could remember the roots behind the leader's den, but as an apprentice, Molewhisker didn't hide out there that often. Sure, he would follow Sandhawk around although he preferred to not be a tag-along all the time. He remembered going behind there with Sandhawk once or twice, just the two of them. It was fun to sneak around the leader's den. They could always have a good time from what Molewhisker could remember.
"Are you up to anything, Tawnystripe? Need help with the apprentice's den?" he meowed, glancing at the den. No wonder it needed some repairs, it wasn't in the best shape. "Or would you like to get out of here and find something else to do?"

It wasn't far! She'd done great tracking, she'd tried so hard, she- No. Jumppaw swallowed her feelings and got to her feet, burying them and shaking out her coat to get herself under control. Be good for the clan. "Yes Sageheart." She turned and padded parallel to the creek that fed the shallow pool, nose out for another trail. "What-" she sighed. "What should I have done differently? I didn't want to risk the mouse running by walking through the crunchy leaves."

That.. wasn't awful. She didn't know why she was surprised that Sageheart wasn't mad with her - her mentor was kind, and a good teacher, she shouldn't be surprised. But her tracking had been good. Alright. Jumppaw gathered her sense around her. She couldn't smell anything, but... she let her mind drift, as small sounds on the wind pricked her attention.
Small, so likely prey. Near the stream, too. She signalled to Sageheart, and began a stalk. This time, she circled around to pin whatever was making the sound between her and the creek feeding into Shallow Pool. Noticing a patch of thick bushes, and thinking back on how she'd spent the morning, Jumppaw slid under their branches. If sound was leading her, not sight, she didn't have to keep an eye on anything. She crept forward, careful not to snag on leaf or rock and then- the rustling stopped.
Jumppaw froze. She waited, with breath caught in her chest and one paw lifted. Let whatever it was keep going, let it not have spotted her...
She couldn't keep frozen forever. But she didn't let the tension force her into action again, holding herself still and keeping her nerve.
The rustling started again, and a smile crept over her face, as, ever so slowly, she edged forward. Closer, closer... the bushes kept her hidden, but hid whatever it was from her, too. At least it sounded nothing like a clanmate. Finally, she felt like she was almost breathing on it - was it feeding on one of the branches of the bush itself? She couldn't see anything, and Jumppaw felt like she was on another precipice. Should she risk it, and pounce? It was so close! But what was it? A mouse? A shrew, maybe, that would make sense, foraging for food. If she wove around a bit, maybe she could see it?
No. It was time for a little risk. She burst forward, claws outstretched, bush branches whipping around her eyes, and it made her blind, but her paws caught on something anyway, claws digging in as it exploded in a panicked shriek that she echoed as she bit down into feathers instead of fur, shocked and operating on instinct.

- Sageheart with Jumppaw - - The shallow pool - - Tiri -
Sageheart watched as Jumppaw began to stalk towards, what Sageheart assumed, some sort of prey. Making sure she wouldn’t scare off her apprentice’s potential catch, the spotted tabby slowly crept a few paces back. That would be embarrassing if I scared away Jumppaw’s prey. Back when Sageheart was an apprentice, she’d always ended up scaring off all the prey, much to her mentor’s annoyance. Somehow Sageheart had managed to pass her final assessment without scaring off any prey!
Suddenly, Sageheart was torn from her thoughts by a screech. The she-cat instinctively jumped up, her fur all fluffed out and claws unsheathed. Realizing that the noise had likely come from Jumppaw’s successful catch, Sageheart forced her fur to lay flat and her claws to unsheathe. Bounding over to her apprentice, the gray spotted tabby exclaimed, “Great catch! I knew you had it in you!”
