Kenzie nodded and dropped her bag against the wall, across from his bed and placed her shoes beside them neatly. She stood up and looked over at him, leaning against the door frame. "Snacks, sure. Do you have a TV anywhere?" she mused. Having a TV in the location they cuddled would be her decision maker. She walked over and wrapped her arms around his torso for a hug, leaning against him. She placed her chin against his chest and looked up at him, a smile dancing on her lips.

"Well, you've made this decision a little more difficult," she whined, playfully. "Let's go to the living room." Kenzie smiled up at him and shrugged. "Chips for now. Do you have fruit? Or do you not believe in such a thing?" She laughed.

"True," Hydra fiddled with her fingers, picking out the dirt underneath her nails. "Yes, my brother was killed in one of the skirmishes," she stared out into the distance, not looking at him. "Funnily enough, it was my parents who organized the skirmish." She laughed coldly. "Neither one of them were sorry. All they cared about was their win. What about you? What's the war done to you?"

Austin nodded and took a deep breathe. "I'm sorry for your loss," Austin said, looking over at her. "I have lost all my fellow Fae to this war. Something that I'm not sure the Queen fully believes in, but I am her advisor and I cannot speak out against her. At least not in front of all her other people." Austin sighed. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the whole truth. "Are your parents still leaders in this war?"
Kenzie followed and leaned against a kitchen counter, watching him rummage through the fridge and the pantry. "Grapes and apples sound good," she answered. "And I don't care what kind of chips, any of those will be fine." She watched him as she waited, humming a song she'd heard recently. "Do you need help with anything?" she asked.

Kenzie grinned at the treatment she was getting. "One apple is fine and green grapes, how ever many you have!" She wasn't feeling like having soda, so instead she asked, "Could I just have water?" This was cute, though, and she could for sure get used to it. She smiled to herself with the thought.

Kenzie reached out and reflexively caught the apple and answered his question about ice. "Love it," she said enthusiastically. "I can't drink water without some ice," she admitted, crossing the kitchen to where he'd placed the bowls. She put the apple on top of the grapes and grabbed the two bowls on the counter. She figured that he'd soon learn all her odd quirks but kept the thought to herself as she made her way back towards the living room.

"I'm sorry too," she said quietly, remembering her brother's innocent face. He was older than her, but not by much. He didn't deserve death. Hydra finally twisted to look at him. "Then why don't you pull her aside and tell her your opinions? You can do something! You could save so many fae lives if you would just mention your distaste." She sighed and turned back again. "I don't know." That wasn't totally true. Her mother was dead: a backlash for helping demons, and her father just lived away from her, and she had no idea what happened to him. But she wasn't about to discuss her personal problems with a stranger. "What about you? Where are your parents? What do they think?"

McKenzie looked over her shoulder before he passed her and settled down on the couch. She knelt and put the bowls on the coffee table by the cups. She sat down next to him and took the remote, rolling her eyes. "Do you really take me as a girl who watches chick flicks?" she mused, giving him an amused look. After a moment, she turned and looked at the Netflix screen and began scrolling through her different options, not really sure what to watch. The girl really didn't have much time to watch movies or TV shows. Sometimes she would, but she never really committed to anything.

But she wasn't about to discuss her personal problems with a stranger. "What about you? Where are your parents? What do they think?" "Because it doesn't work like that. There's not pulling her aside for anything. If anything needs to be said, it is done before the counsel." This, however, got Austin thinking about ways that he'd be able to hint at the need to end the war. "If I could save the fae lives, I would. Trust me," he answered, shaking his head. And with a shrug, he avoided the personal question. "I don't know either." This was the truth, though. Austin never grew up with his parents, he didn't know who they were or what they did or what they believed. The only home he knew was with the Queen, at the palace; and that's all he could remember.

Hydra considered his response. "Would it be very difficult to get alone with Her Majesty? Actually Austin," She wrung her hands together. "How did you become a Queen's advisor? Has anyone ever become one at our ages?" Truthfully she was surprised that they were still talking. But perhaps she and Austin could accomplish something together, more than she'd ever get out of stopping the skirmishes like Nathan wanted. Or even better-she could combine their ideas. She could end the war.

"It is beyond difficult to get the Seelie Queen by herself," he answered playing with his fingers. "She is always with this lady or that gentleman. And not to mention the guards she is always followed by. It's not something you can just being up casually because you never know who will be listening and what they thinkof this war," he continued, sounding defeated. Austin looked up abruptly, not expecting the next question that Hydra asked him. "I... I really don't know. One morning, I woke up and was told to attend the next counsel meeting because they needed you speak with me..." The Seelie advisor paused. "Why?"

"But there is a way?" she asked thoughtfully. "Beyond difficult, but not impossible. We'd just need a way to stop people from being able to listen in...You never met your parents? Excuse my crudity, but did they give you up to the Seelie Court?" Hydra sighed. "I just-no reason. Just curious. I don't know much about the Seelie Court or its advisors."

"No one has done it successfully," he mused, thinking back. "Some have maybe for a couple of seconds, but then the Queen is once again in the audience of many." Austin shook his head in response to the question. "I've never met them. No one has told me anything and answers have been vague at best."

He looked at the screen and watched as she scrolled through. He reached for some chips, and he snacked on them before taking a sip of his drink. He looked over at Kenzie again. "Do you want the blanket on us or no?" He wanted it to be perfect for some reason.

"A big tough ol' guy who says he hates chick flicks, but secretly loves them," Kenzie answered, deadpan, before breaking out into a grin. She snuggled up against Nick and kept scrolling through, still unsure of what to watch. "It doesn't matter to me," she answered, regarding the blanket. "But I have no idea what to watch, any suggestions?"

"I just don't understand that," she sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "We wouldn't be able to write a letter, because her mail is probably checked...unless perhaps we could send it with a pigeon to her windowsill." Hydra laughed at her own suggestion. "Maybe how you came to be an advisor could be added to the letter as well."

"It would be amusing to see a pigeon try to do that," he answered. "But maybe somethings are better left unsaid." Austin shrugged as all these new ideas entered his brain and gave him more things to think about. They were questions that were worth following up on ... well, most of them were.

Hydra laughed. "It would. Let's make that happen. Maybe. What are you thinking about?" She figured some new thoughts had popped into his head. Maybe, even a serious guy like him, would be willing to open up about them. This conversation was getting more and more interesting.

Austin shrugged. "Just whatever we've been talking about," he muttered vaguely. "How do you suggest we go about doing it?" he asked, moving away from the tree to see her, asking in reference to the pigeon. It would take a while for the usually quiet, stoic Seelie to open up and talk about his deep, personal thoughts.

"Well," Hydra grinned at him, settling against the bark of the tree. "First we have to get a pigeon. Any ideas as to how we might find one? Or catch one?" She cleaned her fingernails, getting the dirt out underneath and wondering where it came from. "Afterwards, we have to train it. Or hope for the best. Like those people who'd put a note in a bottle and drop it in the sea and hope it got to its destination. Then, we use a piece of string and tie the letter to its feet. I suppose the letter will have to be phrased well, in case someone finds it and reads it. Perhaps we would write in code."

"You'd have to write it in a code only the Queen understands," Austin noted as he thought about where they'd find a pigeon "Maybe we can find one that's already train?" he suggested, remembering the stories about 'carrier pigeons' that were used in the Mundane World.
