Kenzie kept a close eye on Nick as they walked. He'd been quiet, keeping his head down, unusual for the werewolf who'd started opening up to her. With his head down, she knew that he wasn't watching where he was going and as they started getting close to the arcade, Nick was starting to walk headlong into a streetlight. "Watch out," she said, as she grabbed his arm to pull him towards the buildings. She looked at, concern obvious in her eyes. "What's going on with you?" she asked.

"Nick, don't lie to me," she said, tucking her phone in her pocket as she moved to look at his face. She knew he was lying. She knew that he knew that she knew as well. "Come on, tell me what's wrong," she said, trying to catch his eyes again, having noticed the guarded look from when they'd first met.

[[ Done. *squeals* cx haha ]]
When Nick finally looked up at her, Kenzie realized something was different. That realization, though, didn't quickly equate to the kiss that she suddenly found herself in. The girl froze before her brain caught up to reality and finally, she relaxed into the kiss. She pulled herself closer to him, kissing him back, her heart beating faster in her chest, making her realize that she'd been waiting, and not realizing, that she'd wanted to be kissed by him. After a moment, Kenzie smiled and pulled away, looking up at him.

I'm done. I am so gonna be fangirling over this for ages. x3 ]
Nick pulled away as well, relief flashing through him as she kissed back. He smiled softly, his hands finding her waist. "That's what was wrong. I-I couldn't hide it anymore. Kenzie, I like you. As in more than a friend, and I just realized it on this walk. I was going through scenarios in my mind, and I was wondering if you felt the same. I was afraid that you wouldn't like me back, and-and I would have to move on. Find a different girl. The thing is, I-I can't really see myself with any other girl. No matter how hard I try in case you didn't like me back. When you asked me what was wrong, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't know how you would react, and-and I couldn't bear it if you never talked to me again." He stopped to take a deep breath. "Oh, God. That was such a mushy rant." He cringed slightly at that statement.

[[ My life has. been. made. Ahaha ]]
Kenzie smiled up at him, liking the feeling of his hand on her waist. "Well, I like the mushy side of you," she answered, her voice soft. "And you never have to worry about me not talking to you ever again, because from what I can see, you're not going to be able to get rid of me that easily." She leaned into him, closing the small space between them. "You should have just told me," she said. "You're the first person in the day that I text, no matter what. Being able to hang out with you gives me so much joy and I wouldn't want to be with anyone else. And... I've liked you for a long time now," she finished with a whisper. Nick may not have liked to emote, but McKenzie found no shame in in.

[[ I don't think I've been this excited about two characters together in a while! And I have NO idea. It was the perfect plan!!!! ]]
Kenzie couldn't stop smiling at his point, kissing him back lightly. "I'm glad that almost walking into a pole made you realize something like this," she teased, once they'd pulled away, the look on her face full of care and happiness. "But Nathan was right, Nick, you're happy." McKenzie smiled up at him, now knowing why that was the case. She stood up on her toes and kissed him again, reeling in the fact that she could do that now.

[[ I will gladly admit to us being stupid for not doing it before ]] [[[ Yes. We need to. Can blame it on the war or something. Will they get back together though? That's the real question ]]]
"Well, I'm glad I got to save your life and you told me," Kenzie told him with a laugh. "I've rubbed off on you, that's why." She squealed, slightly out of character for the usually steadfast Shadowhunter, as he picked her up and spun around. Kenzie was quiet when he put her down, thinking, letting the emotions wash over her of what happened over the past couple of minutes. "Do you feel like you're floating?"

[[ That'll make this drama even better! Hehe cx ]]
"Because I am," McKenzie replied, pressing her forehead against his. "I didn't wake up thinking that this would happen. But now waking up every morning is going to be so much easier." She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, feeling the gentle touch of his thumbs on her waist. It took a while for her to realize that they were just standing in the middle of the sidewalk. Reluctantly, she pulled away from Nick, slipping her hand into his. "If we could stand here all night, I'd do it. But we can't," she said quickly after pulling away from him, happiness coursing through her body.

McKenzie looked at him and tilted her head. "Oh, don't look so sad," she said with a smile. She thought about what he'd just offered and eventually nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. Can we stop by the the Institution really quick?" she asked, looking up at him. McKenzie kept her hand in his, looking at him, the look on her face reflecting the hopefulness that he sounded when he invited her over.

Kenzie laughed. "I'll meet you at the spot?" she suggested. It would probably be safer there. No one would suspect anything if the two met there, it was usual for the two of them. She felt their fingers interlocking and smiled up at him. Now that this had been settled, she felt a strong craving or need for physical contact in the form of cuddling. She gave him a side glance and just smiled, happy, content.

She shrugged, not wanting to admit the things she really heard at the diner. Mostly bits about the war and secret alliances or peace operations, but she wouldn't tell a stranger any of that. "Yep," she said breezily. "I doubt it. The things we say now, stay secret. And who knows, maybe we'll find allies within each other." Hydra said, glancing sideways at the fae. Would she ever really be able to trust Austin? Being one of the queen's most trusted advisors, he could probably have her killed in a second.

Bαмвoo In fact, Austin could probably kill her in a second. But that wasn't he kind of Fae he was. "How can I know that I trust you?" he asked, looking over at the stranger. He leaned his head back against the trunk of the tree and sighed. He shrugged, knowing that there was no way that he'd be able to lie. "It's a bloody war."
Summer McKenzie smiled at him, "I'll see you soon," she promised. She watched as he walked away, turning only after he'd turned his back to her. She headed quickly to the Institute and entered the massive doors. She called out to her brother, sister, and peers that she was home for a bit and going out for the night. It would have raised eyebrows if it were anyone else, but this was McKenzie Fairchild. The girl headed to her room and pulled out a duffle bag. She put in a pair of shorts and sportsbra to sleep in as well as a change of clothes for the morning - anything that would give her an appearance of normality if she were to return in the morning. "I'll see you later," she called out as she walked out. Kenzie took her time walking back to the park, the reality settling in, only leading to her being ecstatic and giddy.
She walked to the bench, the very same one she'd met Nick at time after time. "Ready?' she asked, adjusting the bag on her shoulder.

Hydra glanced at him and grinned. "Well...I'll tell you my side if you tell me yours," she laughed at his answer. "No, really? I failed to notice. The real question is, do you like it or not? And how far would you go to stop it?" She shifted so she was sitting on the exact opposite of him, her head leaning against the bark.

"Why don't you start then?" Austin asked after she'd moved to the other side of the tree. "Like I said, it's a bloody war." That in itself could hint at how Austin felt about the war. "It's a waste of time and fae lives." He fell silent for a moment, just thinking about what the prices of this war had been so far. And with no end in sight, he had no idea how much longer his people would be able to stand it.
Kenzie smiled and pressed her cheek against his lips as Nick swung their hands. "Mr. Happy," Kenzie mused, looking over at Nick, a soft smile on her lips. This was the first time she'd seen this side of him, it wasn't something she was used to, although over the time they'd hung out, she'd gotten small glimpses. It was all making sense now. Kenzie looked up when he got serious, thinking that something was wrong, but she smiled when he just spoke about the mess his apartment may be. "It's totally fine," she assured him. "I'm not coming over to scrutinize you. I'm coming over to be with you and not have to worry about anyone walking in and asking questions." She reached up and kissed his cheek. "You have nothing to worry about."

"Because I have more at risk," Hydra said simply. "What are the chances of me running to the Queen about your betrayal?" She raised her head and twisted to look at him. "We must stop it. It's time for it to end. All of this bloodshed is ridiculous and heart breaking. The sooner it stops, the happier I'll be." She stared at him, waiting for his reaction. Had she been wrong about his opinion?

"You never know with people these days," Austin answered with a careless shrug. "There has been no reason for all these live, lost. Everything we have is going to waste over this cat and dog fight. We have no business in the affairs of the Werewolves and Vampires." He listened to her answer and nodded, his voice taking a more serious tone, "Have you lost someone to this war?" he asked gently, looking over his shoulder at her.

"You have nothing to worry about." Nick smiled. "Good. I would dreadfully hate it if you were going to criticize me on my apartment." He started swinging their hands again as he broke off from the sidewalk and towards a nice-looking apartment complex. He walked in the front door and nodded to people who greeted him. The residents here were nice and liked to form a sense of family-like-ness. He flicked his hair out of his face as he walked to the elevator. He pressed the top floor and waited until the doors opened before walking out and towards the middle of the hall. He stopped and unlocked his door, opening it up for Kenzie to walk through first. "Home sweet home."

McKenzie smiled and followed him to the apartment complex. She followed him into the elevator and through the hall until he stopped and opened the door, the entire time, happiness bubbled through her body. She stepped through the threshold and looked around. She didn't see much of a mess. The apartment simply looked lived in. "It must be so nice to have your own private place," she mused, hand on the strap of her duffle bag as she turned around to look at home, standing in the doorway.

Kenzie nodded and followed him down the hall and into the living room. As she did so, she slipped out of her shoes, picking them up in her other hand. The apartment was nice and cozy, something that the Institute missed.
