I am starving to feed my forum special interest. Enough that I want to go to the library just to get away from responsibilities and just ... be here. ;-;

I think i recall someone in here saying they liked dragon age and im too lazy to double check who. In any case, it is one of my more casual interests and i found the dawn of the seeker movie. I didn't even know dragon age had a movie. I'm torn because the extra backstory and the gearing up for the civil war was nice backstory. But. Uh. If i can be honest if it wasn't a dragon age movie it was kind of bad and I couldn't get over how shallow and inconsistent the writing and animation was. Like some parts had some deep dialogue while others seemed very bland and then the fight scenes immediately after almost seemed like they were just trying to distract from it. And just. The dragons or other things being such a high quality and then the people looking so flat and textureless. My enjoyment really was mostly from the extra story and I do have a better appreciation for Cassandra now. I have played inquisition but she was just always a party member I half ignored so maybe I should go back and see her dialogue more next time. :3 Also. I wasn't expecting the big bad templar dude to be voiced by Fking Piccolo lmao. That's me! I'm the one with the Dragon Age obsession. wavesI haven't seen Dawn of the Seeker, but I've read a couple fan synopses, and it kind of?? sounds terrible?? My understanding of it is that it goes into deeper detail regarding Cassandra's background, including what sounded like a really forced romance with that mage dude, but you can get most of that information from her by exhausting all the dialogue options in Inquisition, anyway. I was never all that interested in her, either, and certainly not enough to watch spinoff movie about her. I agree that the art style looks rlly weird. If you're interested in reading more about the civil war (I'm assuming you meant the one btwn mages and templars) I'd recommend reading Asunder. It details how the war began and has a lot of Cole backstory as well c: Ivyfalcon hey there, Ivy! I've seen you post in the Wings of Fire board but I don't think we've ever talked. Wings of Fire is my comfort series. Idk why, but I love going back and flipping through the books to reminisce on my favorite scenes and bits of dialogue. Something about it is just so re-readable for some reason! I wonder if it's the same for you?

As far as the relationship, it didnt really feel forced so much as it was the guy kept making comments that felt really weird and I don't know why Cassandra tolerated him instead of ripping his arms off.

Tealraven Hi! Yeah, I do feel pretty similarly about WoF (and Warriors, for that matter). I’m actually in the middle of a Wings of Fire reread right now! Well, at first I was just planning to reread the first four books of the third arc because I haven’t read them since they first came out and have forgotten some of the details, especially from Blue and Cricket’s books by now, but then I decided to just go back and reread the whole series.

@ivyfalcon. I’ve finished the first WoF book, and unfortunately the library doesn’t have the second book in the series it seems outside of an Ebook, which I’ve never been able to read them, I’m just too old fashioned and prefer a physical book I suppose. So now I’m contemplating whether or not if I want to spend the money to buy the whole first series, which I’ve gotta say the first book made a pretty good first impression on me. If anyone feels like sharing their opinions and thoughts on how the plot is handled, and world consistent etc, i’d appreciate that, since I don’t really know much about it, and don’t want to spend money on another series for it to turn out like AVoS, or “shivers” TBC.

Ivyfalcon Me, too! Well, sort of. I haven't actually reread any of the books from front to back. Most of the time I just skim around instead of reading it in a linear fashion like a normal personIn fact, now that I think about it, my situation is pretty similar to Cloudstorm's. I bought the first book from a bookstore years ago and really liked it, but when I went to the library to check out the other books, they only had up to book 4. So I had to buy everything that came after. For a long time I couldn't do a reread because I was missing The Lost Heir, The Hidden Kingdom, and The Dark Secret from my collection. Last time I went to check the library I couldn't find them at all. But I've since gotten the three books I was missing and reread most of them. I hadn't read them since... 2015? Was it really that long ago? Wow. Anyway, now that I finally have all the books in the series, I've been thinking about doing an honest-to-goodness reread of the whole thing to refresh my memory. It should be an interesting experience now that I'm much older than I was when I first read them. Leapkit My immediate thought-response to your comment was "damn, I don't have hulu. oh well, maybe I can find it at a video rental store-- wait. those don't exist anymore." and then I felt really old lmao. Guess I'm outta luck for now ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

I found out recently that he wrote his recipe for turning lead into gold in code. An apparently very good substitution code. Which was apparently rare to find from alchemists, 'cause they were ... pretty bad at writing things in code. The recipe was recently uncoded, so now they're just waiting for Covid to cool off to try and replicate it!

So if he did figure it out and it works that would be incredible.

TealravenYeah, it would be fun to see how your opinions on the series change after rereading it! If you do end up rereading it, I’d be interested to hear about it! CloudstormYeah, I think you should at least finish the first arc, it’s a pretty good read! It’s not perfect, but from what I can tell/remember there aren’t as many mistakes as Warriors, and I enjoy the worldbuilding, though I wouldn’t say it’s perfect. From what I’ve seen from the fandom, though I don’t really interact with it, I think people tend to like arc one the best, but that might just be nostalgia combined with a limited sample size. I like the second and the third arcs too, but I think the second is not as well-written as the first, but I still enjoy the characters, and I wouldn’t say it’s as bad as TBC, in my opinion. The third arc isn’t finished yet, but the last book comes out in April, so I’m kind of waiting for it to judge the entire arc as a whole, but it adds a lot more worldbuilding (some of which doesn’t entirely make sense but again that might be because it’s unfinished), but I don’t want to say anything else about it for spoiler reasons.

I will reply to it once I'm feeling less brain-fuzzy. In unrelated news, I preordered Horizon Forbidden West and started a replay of Zero Dawn this week! I haven't played HZD in a year (my last save file was from jan 2021 actually) so I wanted to refresh my memory before the new game. I also read The Sunhawk comic about Telanah which I got for Christmas. So now I'm all set for Feb 18!

I'm having a blast so far and as expected, I'm absolutely dominating the competition. *It's also nice knowing where all of the collectibles are since a couple of them eluded me for several hours well over a year ago, which is when I first finished the game alongside the Frozen Wilds DLC. I have also preordered Horizon Forbidden West! The Regalla Edition, to be exact. *Example: When I was first playing the game over a year ago on the PS4 (I'm now playing the PC edition), I thought that the collectibles always spawned in the center of the highlighted circle. I traced a particular mug to a broken down structure. Back then I did not know that if you cannot climb up a structure (that is, if there are no grips present), you shouldn't attempt to. Six hours later I finally made it to the top and there was... nothing. I had died over a dozen times trying to get to the top. I jumped back down (dying again as a result) and I began scouring the area on the ground floor. I eventually found the mug... on the opposite side of the river.

Hey! Sorry to interrupt, but I realized I never introduced myself here!
I'm tallshadowstar. I'm 20 years old; I was diagnosed with ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder as a young child, but was only professionally diagnosed as autistic around five or six years ago after I badgered my psychiatrist at the time to refer me to an assessment.
I'm pretty sure Tekken 7 is my special interest at the moment, although the game Disco Elysium is kind of vying for that spot right now, too. Tekken is my first fighting game and I really didn't expect to like it this much, but I'm having a blast learning the ins and outs of the game's mechanics and character matchups. I even invested in an arcade joystick controller, and honestly I think just using it has become a stim of some kind.
I've had a ton of special interests, and they usually last at least six months (although I've had some last for solid years) before I cycle to another one or rediscover one I've had in the past. Warriors was one of my earliest special interests as a kid and in late 2020 it came back with a vengeance. The band Gorillaz is definitely the SI that's reoccurred the most and impacted who I am as a person in the largest way; Metal Gear Solid is probably second. I've had others, but these are the ones that I've felt with the most intensity.
It's cool to see that so many of us are on the forum! You guys have some cool interests.

Hey, Shadow! Welcome! I had no idea there were so many of us here, either xD I made this thread as a shot in the dark based on some answers I saw to an earlier OTD poll about autism. But I'm glad everyone's found their way to this thread! I've enjoyed reading about everyone's special interests. Y'all have got some really cool hobbies! oooo joystick controllers as a stim are a Thing. I'm pretty sure that's why I love console gaming so much. There's something really satisfying about mashing buttons on a handheld controller! Cloudstorm I know what you mean! HZD and Skyrim are the two games I can easily spend hours exploring. There's so much to look at I don't mind getting lost or sidetracked for awhile. I didn't really pay attention to the Hunting Grounds before, so one of my goals for this playthrough is to complete all the Trials. My other goal is to find all the world datapoints. I've been doing a lot more meandering between quests instead of going from Point A to Point B. cx But I'm also trying to drag it out so I don't finish my playthrough too soon before HFW releases. I'm on my way to the Grave-Hoard rn and I'm already lvl 30. Dark Sun omggg the collectibles! I know exactly which one you're talking about lol. I finally figured out that the circle highlighted on the map is just the general area it's in and not the exact location. Now when I go collectible-hunting I go to the center of the circle and then turn on my Focus to find the pile of debris. Makes for a much faster search! I've done my best to avoid spoilers for Forbidden West so I have no idea who or what 'Regalla' is. I tried to snag the Special Edition or Collectors' Edition when I preordered, but alas, all were sold out!

That's true! Iirc it was French nurses during WWI who first used bandages for tampons. Which is pretty funny when you think about it. It's like they took the cotton they'd been using to plug bullet wounds and went, "hmm, I wonder what other bleeding hole we could shove this into?" xD
