2nd page already? awesome! glad to see people are feeling comfortable chatting and asking questions here c: <Raintalon> oop, my bad! I totally read that wrong. I think there's somebody else on the forums who is majoring in anthro and I may have gotten you confused with them. What's your animal-based career? Do you enjoy having work that's based around your special interest? Bleak you are more than welcome to talk my ear off about PoTO o.o I've been in love with that musical ever since I got the chance to see it on Broadway many years ago. I even bought the book! Stiiiill haven't read it though. cx

<Raintalon> , so far not so good. The hospital my insurance covers (yes, it only covers one hospital) is g a r b a g e. I asked for an ADHD evaluation and a blood panel to check TSH and Vitamin D levels. I was treated pretty horribly and wasn't forwarded to either psych or lab. I later found my doctor's record which read "she claims she has ADHD but seems completely normal" with absolutely no mention of a blood panel. So like... I need a new hospital, lol

you saw hamilton? cool! its one of my hyperfixations! howd it go?? It was incredible! I had seen the proshot on Disney+ several times but this past week was my first time seeing it in person. Only downside was the performance we were supposed to go to was cancelled due to positive Covid cases in the cast, 2 hours before showtime, after we had driven 3 hours to get there. That was a bummer/inconvenience, but fortunately we were able to reschedule our tickets for a few days later.

Hi hi I have ADHD and Autism and a laundry list of other stuff
My special interests are my own OCs, Arknights, Touhou, and Warriors Current hyperfixation is the Fate series
I talk a lot more about my ADHD, and I rarely ever bring up my Autism funny enough. Not a lot of people know I have the latter cx

Skypaw13 oh YIKES i'm sorry D: if it makes you feel any better, the first doctor I saw told me adults can't have autism lol Tealraven I work at an animal shelter! Yes I definitely prefer working with a special interest - I get bored really fast with work if it's not tied into that and I've wanted to work with animals in some capacity since I was little.

Hello, my name on this site is Dark Sun (formerly Violetsky), although I also go by an alternate alias known as "Sage". I was officially diagnosed with what was then called Aspergers/"high functioning" Autism (now just called Autism, as it should be) at the age of 5, but I didn't fully come to grips that I was processed and interacted with the world differently than most until a couple years later. Mostly I just have to deal with social anxiety (paired with Social Anxiety Disorder, it's not a fun trip to go down), but I also have trouble reading people's faces and expressions to a point. As for my habits, I won't go into too much detail since there's a lot of pointless filler, but most of it falls on habit. Listening to same songs, watching the same YouTube videos, and being incredibly "loyal" (hooked?) to only a few games. Warriors is literally the only book series I read and, as far as I can tell), ever will be interested in devouring. Most wouldn't be able to tell I'm on the spectrum since I can be a hoot in social situations a lot of the time, whenever I'm not sitting in the corner enjoying my own company that is. Well, at least until a few years ago that was the case, now I live as a hermit full-time, which is perfectly fine with me. That's all I have so far! Edit: My special interests are Warriors, WCRP, 7 Days To Die (video game; I have over 5,000 hours accumulated in only 3 years of playtime...), Terraria (video game), and plenty of story-based games. By far my favorite is Horizon Zero Dawn, to the point where my room is decorated in merch from head to toe! Various songs I suppose could fall under here, my collection is probably only 50-60 songs large. Writing also falls into here, again, mostly about Warriors. Oh, and I ramble. A lot. Even to myself. I'm ashamed to admit that, but now you know.

Bleak ahh that's right, Erik. What you described sounds similar to the original book. How is this one different? Is it easier to read? I hope it's easier to readDark Sun You said Horizon Zero Dawn and now I'm here. o.o I used to think that game was highly underrated, but it seems to be getting a lot more attention since it was ported to PC! It's been confirmed that Forbidden West is releasing next month and I can't wait! I accidentally spoiled the ending of the first one. I've often wished I could play HZD for the first time again without knowing what happens, so I'm determined to go into the sequel with as little knowledge as possible cx

I've been thinking about getting into it again before Forbidden West is released which, by the way, I've long since pre-ordered a copy for. Oh I know the feeling. I'm sure it's going to be a phenomenal game much like the first.

Bleak oh that sounds infinitely better! I will definitely give that a read and let you know what I think! (Might be awhile before I get my hands on it though.) I'll have to see if it's available on amazon or barnes & noble. Dark Sun So I heard! I'm glad they've ironed out the kinks. I was relieved to hear that I'll still be able to play one of my favorite games on PC once I no longer have access to a console. HZD was the game that got me into gaming as a hobby. It's still probably the most graphically beautiful game I've played! I've heard that areas like Yosemite Park and parts of San Francisco will be appearing in Forbidden West. I'm from the US West Coast, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they portray familiar landmarks

Dark Sun YESSS omg x'D I have no limiter honestly-- I look back and I'm like hm... maybe I was a little overwhelming :') Do you ever find yourself repeating your own words when you're explaining something, either at different points during the ramble or just shortly after you said it the first time? I personally do that all the time. Ex. Before you begin to draw your own style of a cat, you have to analyze more realistic examples and quiz yourself on how they work and why they work that way; learn the boundaries and limitations. Look up sketches, not just of templates and how-to's on the whole body, but also of individual body parts from head to tail, and everything in between. If you decide to go shooting in the dark right off the rip you're probably going to miss your mark, so you must know how everything works and why.

Yeah. I love it when others get just as excited as I am over it but most of the time I type paragraphs and then I get ignored and left on read for hours until they come back and pretend it didn't happen and realize I should have toned it down.
I just love information sharing. Accept infodump as a love language.

I'm trying to do better though; there's only so many times you can hammer in a nail before it's not going to make any further difference (as in people get it). :')

It brings it back to the beginning and wraps it up. Whichnow that i'm thinking of it is probably why essays get written that way. Also as someone with adhd who can ramble or read rambling and either lose the point I was trying to make mid sentence or the point someone else had when I can't follow the logic behind it it is Very Helpful.

Same here! As Dark said, there's only so many times you can hammer in the nail before it's not going to make a difference, but still I repeat myself a lot to be absolutely positively certain the person I'm talking to got the point. It's also my way of testing whether or not they're actually paying attention; I'm used to people not listening, tuning me out halfway through my rambling, or not caring about the things I'm interested in.
I also end up repeating myself as I'm rambling because I'll suddenly think of a better way to phrase it or a more accurate explanation midstream. Or to remind myself of what I was talking about in the first place cx
Perhaps this is why I've always excelled at writing essays lmao.

Tealraven A small tip to determine whether the person you're talking to is actually paying attention: mid explanation, say something totally random. It could honestly be something as simple and stupid as, "So yesterday I saw a bear outside my house..." If they respond to that almost immediately, I find it to be a clear indication that they were indeed paying attention (it's not flawless though). I don't do this all the time, just during long explanation sessions and the like.
