Hello! Welcome to the thread!
Is autism really hereditary? My family is...not amazing so I'm rather curious about this.
I think I remember they were making a film about the cat painter! I might check it out. I read an article about it ages ago.
As for me. Yesterday five out of six books I ordered arrived 🤣 all about advertising.

it's definitely hereditary. Me, my brother, probably my dad and his mom, several of my baby cousins, 2 of my 30+ (late dx) cousins ect are All Autistic!

Does anyone just take these power naps during the day (usually last about 10-15 minutes) while you're half conscious? I've been having some really strange dreams when I powersleep since I'm also hearing background conversations and I want to know if anyone does this too! Not sure I explained it well
Me on my way to make a dream catalogue thread because that sounds interesting

I am fairly certain that sounds more like a sleep disorder thing than an nd thing. I haven't been tested, but I did do some research on sleep disorders for health class (honestly the most interesting section of the class imo) I'm thinking it could possibly be narcolepsy? The reason I doubt it is because I usually take the naps willingly and rarely fall asleep while doing something important (ex: nodding off while writing notes, which is just a really strange experience in general) Also I have this internal clock in my head while I'm half conscious that kind of keeps track of time for me and I'm asleep (for example, if I wake up 15 minutes early I can power nap and wake up on time without an alarm.) |

Hello! I have ADHD and may also have autism, but I'm not interested in seeking a diagnosis because it doesn't negatively impact my life. I'm definitely neurodivergent, though, and my primary hyperfixations are the Xenoblade Chronicles series (well, the first and third games, at least), spiders, English grammar and writing techniques, and body horror. Quite the combination, haha. I tend to fixate on media for long periods of time because I like making a lot of fanart and fanfiction, and these works are very time-consuming.

My family got me with the car jumpscare when I was extremely little. Like. I think under 5 little. I was so terrified I dropped to the floor out of the computer chair and started crying and it took them forever to coax me out.
I think it may be the exact reason I hate jumpscares so much and if a horror movie uses one I instantly hate the movie. xD It's literally such a cheap trick that scares you without needing to actually be scary.
I also can't/shouldn't be jumpscared in real life... people forget about the "fight" part of fight or flight with me and I've punched or slapped a few people as an automatic response. I even had one of my friends try to scare me like right after I said not to do it because I would punch and then he acted surprised when I punched him. :|

I actually never had the experience of seeing the car advert first-hand (pretty sure I was really young when the commercial was on tv) but yeah... Definitely traumatizing for sure if you're scrolling through channels at night! My stance on jumpscares is somewhat neutral; if there's this tense silence in a horror movie and there's a jumpscare, I'll obviously be bummed out as it's repetitive and gimmicky. However, a junpscare being used as a way to terrify the audience while they're zoned in on a task (think of a video game like the FnaF series) can be effective! To me, it just depends on the medium jumpscares are used for!
Anyways I came to this thread wondering if anyone has this one song you listen to on repeat for hours and make these super complex animatics in your head as you listen! Could just be another me thing idk

So there's a story behind that and why the title Harvest Moon still exists, despite Story of Seasons also existing: Natsume and Marvelous! Games both owned the orignal Harvest Moon franchise. But something happened and they split ways. Natsume kept the orignal working title, Harvest Moon and make games under that title. I personally do not like their style or gaming mechanics and it feels too far away from the game I grew up with. Marvelous took ownership of all the orignal titles, and characters and now are under Story of Seasons as their working title. If you want Games more true to the originals, the Story of Seasons title is more accurate to them. They also are the ones who have been remaking the originals. Such as Friends of Mineral Town, and A Wonderful Life. |

I’ve been lurking on the thread for a while and I’d like to introduce myself! Hi, I’m Raven and I’m autistic. I was lucky to be diagnosed at a young age, and I don’t remember a time where I didn’t know. I primarily struggle with sensory issues related to my diet. I’d like to get into better shape but I can’t when I can’t stomach most vegetables. I’m also having a hard time with social overload, I’d like to hang out more with friends but it’s exhausting sometimes.
I have lots of special interests! I’m into Star Wars, Rainbow High/Shadow High, Ever After High, Disney Animation, Warriors, space (especially the outer solar system), Tudor England, human anatomy, and animals. I’m sure there’s more but that’s what I remember at the moment.
