Genuinely confused by the overwhelmingly negative response to DA4. I mean, if people don’t like it, fine; differences of opinion don’t bother me. But it feels like I’m the only person who’s excited or optimistic about the game. It’s weird, and kind of squashing my enthusiasm :c

No, it wasn't you or anything you said specifically. If anything I appreciate you warning me in advance so I could steer clear of the worst negativity; I've managed to avoid most of it so far. I've been getting all of my updates through Felassan on tumblr and their enthusiasm is pretty infectious. So I'll just stick to my little corner of the internet planning out worldstates, daydreaming about my Rook, and admiring art of the pretty new companions for the next few months xD

the annoying thing about having a special interest in the american revolution & early US history in general is that half of the demographic who shares that interest are either A) teenagers discovering Hamilton for the first time or в) middle-aged white dudes who are patriotic enough to embarrass a redneck and only want to argue about who had the better military strategy and weapons and so forth. (although the latter is actually true of any country and any historical time period, i've discovered). unfortunately i somehow managed to fall into both categories when i was like 14 but at least i grew out of it aldjsfdsklks

also, hyperfixating on a children's book series. is annoying. because it's a children's book series and the lore and characters are all superficial at best, but my brain still wants to obsess over the characters' potential and how much better the plot could have been if it were written for a more mature audience and i want to fill in all the plotholes and rewrite the worldbuilding for the author since she doesn't seem interested in doing it herself. and meaningful discussions within the fanbase are few and far between because most of the fans are, in fact, 12

(yes, i'm rereading my US history books and wings of fire as an adult with a more critical eye, and yes, i am suffering, because i have nobody sane enough or interested enough to talk to about any of it lmao ;v;)

Hello, sorry for the delay, this quote got lost in my notifs for some reason. 

I'm rereading WOF consecutively, in chronological order, for the first time in years, and I'm currently on Talons of Power. So far my favorite characters are Tsunami, Starflight, Winter, and Peril. The latter two are the most fascinating to me and I believe they had great potential; I love them for what they could have become and I wish they'd gotten better arcs. Which is wild because I used to hate Peril and thought Tsunami and Starflight were super boring. It's been really interesting to track how my opinions have changed as I reread - some quite drastically!
