Can you see Bumblestripe acting as a good mentor if he ever got an apprentice?

I think Bumblestripe might be decent enough as a mentor. Especially now that he no longer gets distracted by the TigerDove love drama.

Definitely, Bumblestripe seems like a good cat without the whole dovewing thing, I’d like to see him get a mate and have kits (stares at that one bonus scene) and then die in battle or something I feel bad that he hasn’t had his own happy ending

He seems like he'd be good, I'd honestly like to see him more outside of his love for dovewing. I feel like he would be a bit pushy to his apprentice, but overall would just want the best for them and would be there to support them through everything.

Bumblestripe has actually had three apprentices already: Seedpaw, Leafshade and Shellfur.

Bumblestripe has actually had three apprentices already: Seedpaw, Leafshade and Shellfur. I totally forgot that he mentored Seedpaw and Leafshade lol [Also I think Bumblestripe is a pretty good mentor from what we saw of him in Spotfur’s novella]

absolutely not. Seeing how creepy and manipulative he was with Dovewing, there's no telling how he would act towards an apprentice. This man literally wanted to tell his ex wife to have babies with him at an old man's funeral. He needs to seriously get his life in check before I think he'd be a good influence

Considering that he's had quite a few apprentices lately and they came out fine (except for Seedpaw ) I'd say that he's a pretty good one.

He’s been shown to be a perfectly fine and capable mentor, and people are aware he’s got a character outside of Dovewing, right? Like it’s pretty clear he moved on and is focusing on being a good Warrior and even wanting to further his career in his clan and want to possibly be a deputy. Like, this whole “he’s bitter about Dovewing” is actually very untrue as he very graciously and respectfully accepted that Dovewing chose Tigerheart and never made a fuss about it. He moved on from her, and is a perfectly loyal Thunderclan Warrior, who’s already mentored some cats.
So yes. Canonically, he’s clearly a fine mentor if he’s had multiple apprentices lol.

"Gender has nothing to do with being cute"
I mean truly and honestly how do we know he's moved on? He's been out of the spotlight for a while now Because he literally accepts Dovewing’s arrival with her kits and with Tigerheart all barging into Thunderclan and tells her that he’s just glad she’s unharmed and that he’s accepted that she loves Tigerheart. Like. There was an entire scene for it, and why would he have that scene if the point wasn’t to show he accepted it and was moving on? Also, the few scenes we see of him after that, he has 0 interest in or hardly a mention of Dovewing at all. He’s only focused on his duties to his clan. I could argue that how do we know he’s bitter over or still has feelings for Dovewing if he’s out of the spotlight too lmao. Bumblestripe had a bad scene that everyone agrees was at an inappropriate time but he’s not some bitter, nasty hostile stalker monster, he’s just a normal Warrior chilling after accepting Dovewing chose Tigerheart and that was the reason she basically strung him along and never said why she dropped him with 0 communication on her part. He finally got his reasoning why and accepted it and moved on.

Like, I didn’t imagine the scene where Bumblestripe accepted Dovewing waltzing in with Tigerheart’s kits and betraying the clan without a single fuss, right? That was an entire scene to show that Bumblestripe had his closure and now he could forget about her. Which…so far it seems he has, like, where the heck is this “he’s bitter over Dovewing” bs coming from? I don’t think he’s even mentioned her name since then, he’s been focused on duties and very clearly wanted to have a leadership position like alot of dedicated Warriors probably do. He shaped Spotfur’s bs up when she decided to ambush and startle and scare him, he clapped her real quick and scolded her sharply for goofing off and scaring clanmates for fun. That’s 100 percent a mentor energy right there.

I dislike characters like Dovewing but I’m not going to sit here and claim she abuses her kits or hates her family when the books make it very clear that she never does any of that. And I know well and good that the fandom would be annoyed if I made baseless assumptions like that. Look, I get hating a character, but it is so endlessly bothersome when people use that as an excuse to just completely make false statements about that character. The thread is asking if he’d be a good mentor or not. He was shown in the books being as normal a mentor as anyone else, and he has 3 apprentices, so clearly he was doing fine enough to get multiple. This is like the Graystripe argument and people thinking he’s an abusive father when the books have evidence that he is anything but. Then, people start taking those headcanons as fact and as reason to attack creators and fans who try to say “hey, this is literally what it is in the books, why are you getting bothered by that?”

Whatever. As for taking the books seriously, it’s not the characters. It’s the fact that people will make such incorrect statements and act like they wrote the books and tote their headcanons as fact in debates. Which…has been incredibly harmful to alot of people in this fandom. Proven by videos of who shall not be named and how their fans attacked creators based on someone’s opinion they took as fact. I have opinions on alot of cats. But I won’t let my bias ruin a character's genuine characterization either. I find it unfair. Agree to disagree I guess. I think he’s a perfectly fine mentor, disagree if you like.

I think he’s a perfectly fine mentor, disagree if you like. Even if that's how they treat a character. So what? I've seen people wrongly accuse a character of something for years. In the end, it's still a different view on how they see that character. Like for example. If people are going to think Bumblestripe is going to turn like Ashfur and hurt Dovewing and her family, so what? Just let them think that? There's literally nothing wrong with their thinking about how they view him. I understand that this isn't entirely in character because that's not what Bumblestripe would do, but is it really that big of a deal? He's just a fictional book character. I'm not mad at you for this, I literally just think that people take these books too seriously when it comes to what's canon and what isn't, and it feels like these people aren't letting fans form their own opinions and headcanons or AUs because of it, and they're forcing them to change their minds because it isn't canon in the books, and I don't think that's fair. But I guess I can understand where you're coming from since I know who you're talking about, but at this point I feel like we should let people believe what they want to believe about a character even if it's frustrating for you, it's all about how they view them. At this point I no longer care as long as they're not jerks to people about it. Some people take these things way too far lol.

I’m just really sick of innocent creators who make content that follows the book’s canon are attacked by people who make AU headcanons and false information, and now we’re expected to just let it slide as if minors haven’t recently been put in danger because of this very exact thing. That’s literally my issue. I don’t care what opinions or AUs or blatantly bashing fics and essays people write. Just don’t expect anyone to take them seriously in discussions of a canon character, is what I’m saying.
Just return it to the topic at hand at this point. If anything, give him another apprentice so hopefully it’s enough screen time to actually show that he’s a perfectly fine mentor lol

Bumblestripe's already had three apprentices so far and seemed decent enough from what we've seen. How he acted towards Dovewing shouldn't equate to how he acts towards other cats and we see this very clearly in the books themselves. There's really no correlation. It's practically irrelevant.
The only other cat he's had a direct negative interaction with would be Spotfur when she was an apprentice, and even then, it was to scold her because she was trying to play a prank on him.

Opinions are opinions, but there are some things you just have to accept as fact regardless. Otherwise, what's the point? For the opposite, can you imagine someone genuinely going "Tigerclaw did nothing wrong" and everyone just leaving it at that?

There is nothing wrong with headcanons or opinions and such (I'm speaking as someone who has plenty of those) but if it's not even based on anything said in canon or even the opposite then that's just what it is, a headcanon/opinion/own thought in someone's head. But in an attempt to get this thread back on track, I already commented about Bumblestripe probably being a good mentor if he ever gets an apprentice (before checking the Wiki and seeing the comments on here about how he already had quite a few which must've slipped my mind). And that has nothing to do with him and the Dovewing situation. I still dislike Bumblestripe but there has been no substantial evidence of him being a bad mentor to Seedpaw, Leafshade or Shellfur.

Nobody’s mad at you at all, and I have no issue if you feel that way about him. You can have any opinion you like. I just don’t want any false information being taken as canon to the point that people get confused. Hating characters is fine, but ignoring their character in general makes the books themselves almost pointless. Needless to say, nobody’s trying to tell you to stop hating Bumblestripe, you do as you like. Everything’s all cool.

I'm not ignoring anything about his character. There's stuff that I literally just didn't know happened until this point. I literally said lmao good point earlier because again, half the stuff that happened with him I haven't read with him yet. Like I get it it's annoying to have someone ignore someone's character, but don't act like someone's doing that when they haven't read all the material with him. I've read up to like omen of the stars, bramblestar's storm, and the snippet where he hits on her during Purdy's funeral, and that was a while back tbh. like I don't know exactly what screamed that I was ignoring his character but I'm mostly going off what I know personally. AS WELL AS I feel like his social relationships are very important towards thinking about apprentices. There's been instances where a cat's beliefs and social life has bled into their apprentices. Like idk why would I feel the need to actively lie by ignoring facts about him that I didn't know/remember in the first place. I just remember him being creepy. Like I'm not mad and I know y'all aren't either but I don't think it's very much a constructive debate to jump out and say that I'm ignoring his character
