He had taken note of everyone's demeanor to the student, and while he had humored him at first, he was starting to see where the annoyance was coming from. "Alright, so we are going t9 split up for a bit just to fan out the area. I'd say split yourselves however you would like."

"Truly a shame, he will be missed, we will spend the day mourning him then move on beculause we didnt know him that well," Imrie nodded in agreement. As she watched the surroundings around them. "I agree with that sentiment, I'm having doubts about attending this now, but I guess it will hopefully still be decent experience from this?"

“You’re no fun.” Grimm shrugged good-naturedly, then nodded in response to Julius’ next question. “Nah, it was only Megumi who went. She’s probably been waiting for an excuse to get away from the rest of us. Shame I didn’t volunteer, I’d like to see these beastskin in action.” The caustic Taguel was difficult to talk to to say the least. Not that he’d made much effort. “Who went from your class?”

“I think it’d be difficult to train in our beastforms ordinarily,” she admitted. “I have only done so on occasion and only with one other person in the training ground at a time. That said, I’m having fun learning gauntlets. Another weapon at my disposal can only be a benefit.” Rieka straightened up slightly as a thought occurred to her. “It is a shame the academy doesn't have a separate training ground for the beastkin to transform in, but I suppose it hasn’t been required until now.” The worst thing about Garreg Mach so far was that she didn’t have as much freedom here as in the wilds of her home. She missed running through the snow on a hunt or racing with her friends across more mountainous terrain. “Regardless, if you ever wish to spar in our beastforms, I’m sure we could work something out.”

Julius | Courtyard | Grimm"Ah, her." Julius nodded at that answer. He probably should have expected it as, from what he has seen so far, Megumi didn't exactly enjoy the company of humans. Getting to fight some bandits was probably better than spending the afternoon here at the monastery. "Guess it makes sense that she volunteered. But yeah, we really haven't seen much of their beastforms. Maybe they're allowed to use them for the mock battle. If not we'll have to wait until next month." Surely the beastkin would be using their beastforms for the missions. At Grimm's question he sighed and shook his head in mock disappointment but grinned as he spoke. "Of all the people who could have volunteered it was Callan, that traitor. The only other Deer who knows dark magic. But instead of helping me practice he's running off to fight some bandits! Can you believe this?" Néo | Fishing Pond | Rieka"Yeah, I can only really train in my beastform when we're outside Garreg Mach and I hear we're only doing that when the students get to train with the knights." He snorted and let out an impatient sigh. "Apparently there'll be some training sessions out there once the rainy season begins. To practice fighting on different terrain and during bad weather like rainstorms or even heavy snowfall. We'll have to wait so many months though." As for a separate training ground for the beastkin, he had to agree with Rieka. It was a shame that there was no such thing but, like she said, there had been no need for it so far. "True, this is the first time they let beastkin attend after all. And not just students. It's also the first year for beastkin to be accepted as squires, servants and all that other stuff here. Still, they could have at least given us a small area near the road. Only a short distance from the main gate. They could still keep an eye on us there," he said with a shrug.
At her offer though he nodded, grinning at the prospect of getting to spar with one of the other beastkin. "Awesome. I haven't got to fight anyone here in their beastform yet so yeah, I'm in! And we'll see about getting enough space. Could be difficult for a while since most are training for the mock battle but I'm sure we'll get our chance."

Grimm nodded along to Julius’ words. Even if he had to wait to see the full extent of the beastkin’s abilities, there was plenty of time for that. Still, he hoped they would be able to transform during the mock battle if only to make things that little bit more interesting. “Oh, Callan, huh? Not the answer I was expecting,” he mused in response to the new information. The younger boy had always seemed fairly meek whenever they interacted. Not that that meant he couldn’t be confident in battle but Grimm had been expecting Searc or maybe Rekka to volunteer. The former, in particular seemed to live in the training grounds. "I'm sure he did it just to throw off your training. Come to think of it though, none of the professors are well-versed in dark magic, are they? I wonder how old Greeny intends to teach you two."

Rieka commiserated with him, glad that at least one of the beastkin shared her disappointment. The promise of training during the rainy season, however, made her ears perk up. It made sense that such training would need to occur and their beastforms would be perfectly suited to it with their advanced senses and ability to traverse difficult terrain. "It is a ways away," she sighed, her gaze turning to the sky briefly as though she expected it might rain right then and there. "I should talk to Professor Konstantin about it. It would be good to know if he has any plans." He might already have some ideas for my training and even if he doesn't he's probably the one I should speak to about this.
Happy that Néo had accepted her offer and that they would find opportunity to spar in the future, she backtracked to something he'd said earlier. "I didn't know that this was the first year squires could be beastkin," she admitted. "I'd assumed that you'd been here much longer than us. If I might ask, why did you decide to be a squire rather than a student?"

The kitsune, as well as the other beastkin, wouldn't have much use for mounts. With an amused smile he then noted "The same can be said for her though, she has never encountered any beastkin before." At the question he nodded. "Ah yes, I should probably introduce her to you. Her name is Tsisana and she and I have practiced flying together shortly after I began combat training." Behind him the wyvern looked curiously at Rekka and after a moment of hesitation she leaned down a bit and pushed her head forward, intrigued by this odd creature's appearance and smell. "It appears that she really is as intrigued as you are." Vincent placed a hand on her muzzle as he spoke, giving the kitsune a reassuring smile. "I hope she didn't startle you. But she is allowing you to come closer now, if you like." While Tsisana's expression didn't change from her usual glare her posture had relaxed a bit since Rekka had shown up. "I'll stay in my human for so I don't startle her." Rekka joked, figuring seeing a beastkin for the first time would be tense enough. When given permission to come closer he smiled and approached, "Thank you." he thought about what the other had said and nodded "I see! That's cool. It's amazing that you can fight alongside a mount like that. Tsisana is also very brave, to be willing to go into battle with you." any mount animals that he had interacted with weren't the battle kind, and had been timid at best. But that could just be their reaction to a large predatory animal. Animals still weren't super fond of him even in his human form. Taguels got along better with wild animals.

Vincent | Wyvern Stables | RekkaHe gave a light chuckle as Rekka chose to stay in his human form. While the kitsune was joking Vincent had to agree that for his first encounter with Tsisana he probably shouldn't transform just yet. Not that the wyvern would be terrified of a transformed kitsune, or any other beastkin for that matter, but it still was something she wasn't familiar with and having Rekka turn into a huge fox right now could change her perception of him, causing her to view him as a threat. "It takes a lot of training, both to fight effectively and to build up mutual trust between mount and rider," he explained. "It is especially important for flying mounts. Not that the trust between a horse and a rider isn't important, but I think that for wyverns and pegasi it still has to be on a different level." Next to him Tsisana looked the kitsune up and down, still not sure what to make of him but she didn't seem to dislike him either. At the mention of her name she briefly stared at Rekka and let out another snort, this time mere inches from the kitsune. Vincent let out a quiet laugh at that. "I'm not sure if she really understood what you just said but she looks pleased by it regardless. But you are right. It is something I really admire about wyverns. Tsisana and many others may be specifically bred for combat but even those in the wild are truly fearless creatures." Julius | Courtyard | Grimm"Well he did seem a bit nervous after volunteering," he said, chuckling a little. "But to me it seemed like it wasn't because of the bandits but rather because he had just volunteered in front of the whole class. And because he'll have to join some students from the other houses." At Grimm's next remark he gave an indignant snort, continuing to act betrayed at his classmate's choice. "He totally did! Just because I have a reputation for my... unique skills in both Faith and Reason magic doesn't mean practising with me is going to be dangerous. Well, maybe a little bit but still! Choosing an actual battle over practising spells just because I might blow up the training dummies? Rude!" He crossed his arms and let out a grunt, still grinning all the while. He then nodded as Grimm pointed out this little issue. "Well, dark magic still falls under Reason so Philomel is still our best bet," he said. "Sure, it's not the same as black magic but they have enough in common that learning about it is a good enough basis. We have to work a little harder than those who learn black magic because we have to adapt it to our specific skill set but it's not all that difficult." Néo | Fishing Pond | Rieka
"Yeah. I don't know how the professors decide on that but it makes sense for everyone to get some training in the field instead of just the training grounds," he said. "I only know from some of the knights that there's at least one training sessions with each of the houses next month. No idea when it's your class's turn though." It did sound exciting though. Néo didn't know which, if any, of those sessions he would get to join but since each class had at least one beastkin it didn't really matter all that much.
"And nope, I only got here a few days earlier than you," he told her and shrugged. "I heard there were still too many against it last year. I guess it makes sense for Lady Hera to only let our kind live here once there are more people who welcome or at least tolerate us." There were still some people among the church staff that looked at the beastkin with distrust at best and outright disdain at worst. But the majority seemed to be accepting of them.
Suppressing a sigh Néo then thought about Rieka's question. "It's not like I chose to be here," he muttered quietly. A bit louder he then said "Well, I guess I'm not technically a squire. I only get to train with them because it's what Farvald suggested. He's one of the knights who are really in favor of beastkin being here." he explained. "When I don't train with them I kind of work around the monastery. Mainly weapon maintenance and various repairs. I'm quite good at that so that's what I'm settled with."
Néo scowled a little and continued. "My parents sent me here because they're really into this whole 'Teachings of Seiros' thing. They want me to learn all about the faith and apparently the best they could come up with was sending me off to live here for a while. And by 'a while' they mean at least a year." He scoffed at the last part and shook his head. "Well, the higher ups agreed and asked my parents if they'd want me to enroll in one of the classes or if they'd prefer for me to work around the monastery instead. Since they want me to focus more on the religious teachings and less on battle they chose the latter. I still get to train but I won't be learning as much about the whole strategising stuff, spending more time at the cathedral instead."

“Okay but I really would like to see you try to blow up the training dummies. Pretty sure they’re magically reinforced or something because I barely make a dent on the things and I’m not too shabby with a spear. ‘Course there are the more disposable dummies too, the ones that actually do splinter when you hit them but those aren’t as fun,” he said with a bark of laughter. “Maybe we could get everyone together, see who makes the most damage on those things.” He only half meant the statement though the idea of vandalising the academy’s training aids was surprisingly entertaining.
“Yeah, I guess that makes sense; considering he’s the only professor here who uses reason and faith, it’s pretty lucky you two got to be in the Golden Deer.” Grimm paused thoughtfully, cracked his knuckles and stifled a yawn. “Can’t say I’m familiar with the magics myself, they seem a lot more complicated than swinging something sharp around what with there being all those different spells and all.”

Rieka frowned as Néo spoke. It wasn’t news to her that a sizeable portion of the church and, by extension the monastery, were not in favour of the beastkin’s induction as students, or, it seemed, as staff. There had been a few members of her tribe who’d lived amongst humans for a time and they had also spoken of the of the contempt and ill-tempered looks that humans had directed at them. She wasn’t as wary of humans as some of the Wolfskin but she was well-aware of the dangers they could still pose. “Yes,” she added, shaking her head. “Actually, my mother was against me coming to the academy this year because of such people. Though, as you say, there are many more who have been accepting of us. It is a relief.”
She lapsed into silence as Néo answered her earlier question, feeling a pang of sympathy toward the younger beastkin. “So, for you, this wasn’t much of a decision at all then? I’m sorry to hear that. From the sound of it you aren’t so interested in the Teachings of Seiros or in staying here for the coming year which is understandable if you had no say in the matter. I can’t imagine being here, away from my people, if it weren’t for my interest in the studies the academy provides.”

Jason-Dorms-Open
Jason bit at his lip as he thought, most of the outsiders in his class had gone with that knight, and he hadn't seen where the other ones had gone off to. The boy had been much to preoccupied trying to not get yelled at by the professor. Releasing a sigh he slumped his shoulders a bit, trying to figure out what he should do. He glanced around the area, maybe he could just try to check out students from the other houses, surely the others wouldn't mind the help?? And he could show them his use!
Searc-Training Grounds-Open
Searc was at the training grounds, granted he was hardly anywhere else when it came time to not being in class. He was using a training dummy, as most of the students in the area hadn't been striking up much of a challenge while it could have been due to the challenge that came from training with Silke, most of students just seemed weaker by comparison. He slashed at the center with the sword, as he worked hard to ensure he could try to get his attacks to draw quicker.
Elara-Dining Hall-Open
Elara had settled at a quieter table in the room, as she watched students and faculty alike moving about the room. She didn't mind the noise that filled the room, though it also wasn't her favorite to say the least, she preferred coming when less people were around, but it was hard to do so with the afternoon and evening meals. She took a bite of her food, as she let her mind drift to her thoughts.

Adora walked through the corridors of the dorms, on a mission to find her adoptive brother, Jason. She had already checked several places including the Blue Lions classroom and the dining hall but to no avail. Though they had only met a handful of times, she had been eager to find out he would be part of the mission to infiltrate the academy. In fact, the only reason she had held off on speaking to him for so long was to prevent any suspicions being aroused - they weren't supposed to know each other after all, let alone act like siblings.
Eventually, she spotted the blue-haired boy. And no other students in sight. What luck! She walked up to him, smiling wide and with her arms outstretched to invite him in for a hug. "Well, well, well, how have you been, Jason?"

With working with her, he clildnt help but hope he could get to learn more about her and maybe even get to grow closer then how they were currently. "I've been doing alright," he said, hesitating a bit before moving to hug her. "How about you?"

Agnar | Forest | Bandit BashersAgnar shot Luca a small grin at Ambrose's comment but turned serious once more at the knight's next order. It made sense for them to split up for a bit but they should probably do it in a way that wouldn't put any of them at a huge disadvantage in case they stumbled upon one or more bandits. While they wouldn't be too far from each other and could easily come to each other's aid it was still better to not let any of the less experienced or weaker ones to be by themselves. Agnar could easily handle himself and the same could be said about Ambrose and Megumi. Imrie seemed like she should do alright as well. Luca and Callan however were probably better of if they were paired up with someone else, even if the other person stayed a short distance behind them so the bandits wouldn't spot the bigger threat first. Not that any of them, aside from Ambrose, looked like that much of a threat at first glance, especially to some stupid bandits, but some still were visibly better suited for this than others. "If anyone wants to team up for now feel free to come along but I don't mind being on my own either."
Callan | Forest | Imrie, Bandit Bashers"And the very next day he'll already be forgotten by us," he added, but was now focusing a bit more on scanning the area. "But yeah, it probably will still be worth something. We do get to fight, after all." When Ambrose announced they were going to split up Callan glanced at the others on the team, wondering what they would do. He supposed Megumi wouldn't want to pair up with anyone for this and he wasn't going to ask her either. There was also the option for him to just walk off alone but while they were just supposed to fan out the area there was still the chance that one of them would be found by the bandits. He could probably stand his ground against one until the other Bandit Bashers got to him but it would be different if he ran into the whole group. So being with someone else was probably the better option. He still didn't know most of the others and he wasn't sure if asking Luca would be a good idea but he did seem to get along with Imrie just fine. After a brief moment of hesitation he turned to her. "Uh... mind if we stick together for now or would you rather go alone to cover more ground?"

"I've also be doing alright," she answered, lowering her voice as they closed the distance for a brief moment. "How long has it been since we last saw each other? At least 6 moons? If I recall correctly, you payed me a visit at the theatre although you couldn't stay long." Adora had genuinely regretted not getting to spend more time with Jason over the years. Even now, she hardly knew anything about him aside from what Berenike had been willing to inform her of and whatever things they had discussed during their infrequent meetings. She knew, however, that Berenike hadn't been keen to introduce them.

Jason thought it over before giving a nod, confirming. "Yea, 6 moons," he said, though it felt like longer to him. He had to convince his mom for two moons prior in order for him to be able to go, although he had left out the part of it being to see his older sister, part of him still feeling guilty over it. "...Sorry about that, if i was bugging you when i visited..." Jason knew he had a tendency of doing that when he did talk to someone, even back home on the rare occurrences he did leave his mother's house, which wasn't often, as most in his village were significantly older.

"That's cool! I can see why they are trained for battle then." he studied the wyvern carefully, noting the scaling and slitted eyes. She truly was a beast, and a strong one at that. If he ran into one in the wild he might actually be worried. Wild creatures, no matter how small, should be treated carefully. His uncle was once bitten by a wild mouse and it got infected. Psh, poor man. Rekka mentally brushed aside those thoughts and asked "Do you have to have a special acceptance to ride one? I can't imagine they'd let just anyone ride." not that he was interested, Rekka was comfortable fighting like he was used to.

"I'll come with you!" he chirped, sidling up beside the other "Imrie might sacrifice me to the bandits because of my great personality and good looks. I don't think you would though." he joked. So he was aware of Imries distaste of him, but as expected he wasn't about to change who he was "Let's go this way." he suggested, pointing off in a random direction.

Perfect, a chance to finally get away from this group. Megumi didn't wait for anyone to speak to her and just turned to fan out in a direction no one else had chosen yet. She'd also heard some noise from this direction. Whether or not it was a bandit she would have to wait and see. It had been faint, so there was a chance it was an animal.

Silke wanted to be training, but even the strongest of warriors got hungry. And she was starving! She'd gone on a run and practice some before deciding that it was enough for now. Upon entry she noticed that it was pretty empty, compared to actual dining times. Shrugging, she got herself some food and took a moment to really look around. Her gaze zeroed in on Elara, who was sitting alone "Elara!" Silke greeted, walking over "How have you been?" she may not have met all the students yet, but Silke was well aware of everyone who was in her own house.

It's bad enough that Neason comes up with ideas on how to make the year more entertaining!" he laughed, clearly enjoying the thought of causing some chaos at the training grounds. "I mean, I'm all for causing a big scene and stuff but I don't think Searc will let me live after that."
"Yeah, I guess so. It's also lucky that he's so patient. I bet the other professors would already be losing their minds over my 'talent' and Neason being... well... Neason." He nodded at it being complicated, giving a affirmative grunt. "They really are. I'm not really one for weapons though so I want to pick up some spells instead. Can't exactly defend myself just by dancing."

"She's certainly not wrong to be worried about that but yeah, it's actually looking pretty good so far," he said. "I can say that some of the knights don't like us but Cappy- I mean, the captain is in favor of us too and keeps them in line."
He nodded as Rieka spoke. "You're right about that," he sighed. "Not that I would really live among my people otherwise since my parents and I have moved to Faerghus about a year ago but that place is still my home." He gave a slight smile before he continued. "But hey, not everything here is bad. The food's pretty great and I actually get some real training. I don't think I would learn that much in our village. Still wish my parents wouldn't try to force their beliefs on me but I guess I should find some things to enjoy here. Getting to meet other beastkin here definitely makes this a bit easier."

"Yes, while they are not without their own weaknesses they are still perfectly suited for battle. And anyone who trains with wyverns or pegasi must learn how to properly work around them." It was one of the reasons he was hoping that his father would soon allow him to wear the family relic, the bracelet Hagbone. With its power Vincent wouldn't have to worry about archers and wind magic. At Rekka's question he nodded. "Well, while anyone can own a wyvern if they can afford it and we are free to fly with them there are is a way to lose that privilege. If a wyvern doesn't respect its rider it can be quite dangerous," he said. "The same is true for pegasi and other mounts but wyverns are especially hazardous. Some noble families have a special instructor for training with them and there are also some breeders who will turn someone away if they are unlikely to ever be able to command a wyvern.
"We have some wyvern riders working as knights in Adrestia and they are very careful on who gets to join their ranks. "It's a shame that we are not allowed to ride them into battle yet. While some of the other nobles and I already have experience in flying we will have to pass some exams here first. Until then we can only ride them for training or Wyvern duty."

Adora nodded consideringly. "Not being in the same house will complicate things but I'm sure there'll be plenty of time." Being in different houses just so happened to be important to the mission at hand, not that either of them would have had much of a say anyway. He did live in Faerghus after all and she was masquerading as an Adrestian noble. "Besides, we'll need to meet up with the others fairly often." She had kept her distance from the other spies as well so she would need to convene with them soon. "Anyway, how about we go to the dining hall and catch up there? Unless there's somewhere else you need to be?"

The church would probably just make us pay out of pocket for the damages and, frankly, that isn’t how I want to spend my first month’s allowance.” Somehow, considering some of his Black Eagle housemates, he didn’t think such ‘entertainment’ would go over well.
“I know being a melee or magic oriented dancer isn’t uncommon or anything but I’ve always thought it was funny - just, the idea of dancing on the battle field. I’m sure it’s amazing to see but I can only imagine what must run through the enemies heads! I know I’d be pretty confused if I were them.”

“Your outlook is admirable,” she murmured seriously. “There is a saying in our tribe that when one is in a less than ideal situation they should attempt to ‘make snow out of sunspots’. Perhaps it doesn’t translate well but I’m sure you understand the sentiment.” Rieka watched the wind stir the surface of the pool for a moment as she wondered how her parents were doing. She was sure they had everything under control though it was hard not to miss them when she was so far from home.

Néo gave her a slightly surprised look, smiling at those words. "You think so?" He wasn't sure what about it was so admirable but he was going to take it. She did seem genuine about it and it also wasn't something he heard often. His tribe didn't exactly have the best opinion of him and his parents so they didn't have many good things to say. "And yeah, I think understand what you're saying with that." he then said after a moment. The phrase had confused him at first, especially the snow part, but for someone from Albinea it would definitely make sense to word it like that.
"Yeah, I don't think I could stand being the only beastkin here. Also pretty cool to meet some wolfskin and kitsune too. We don't see many of them in Faerghus and even less in Sreng. Makes sense though I guess. Sreng is so different from Albinea, at least from what I've heard, so your kind may not have much interest in it. And it's probably the same the other way around. I doubt Taguel and Kitsune can deal with the snow as well as the Wolfskin do."

I’m glad it’s you guys and not me though - now if I was in charge of the dancing, that’d be the stuff of nightmares.” Grimm laughed but he wasn’t joking. He wouldn’t have been surprised if every single noble in the academy and half the commoners were better dancers than him. “So did you always want to dance, then? Or is it just something you’re good at?”

“That’s very true. I’ve heard stories about the Taguel and the Kitsune since I was young,” she said, her eyes flickering over his long ears. “Some were very exaggerated and others are seeming quite accurate now that I am able to judge for myself. Truly, none of you would survive an Albinean winter.” There was a slight teasing edge to the words as she said them, her lips curling into a smile.

It wouldn't be to weird for them to talk outside of classes during free time, thoughit wouldnt always be in a detting where they could do so as siblings."I don't have anything I'm really meant to be doing right now," he said. "I would love to head there to talk some more with you." He moved a bit away for her. "Do you know what it is today?" He hadn't actually thought to check to see what it was earlier when he had been there in the morning. "Though it's okay if you dont, would be a fun surprise to see what it is?" Though he wasn't fully on board for surprises, though good ones he could get behind.

"Oh definitely it would be some curse if I remember him tomorrow, then I can't guarantee his safety," she said. At the notion of splitting up, one of the knight's better ideas so far, though the bar was set extremely low. She glanced to Callan. "Sure we can go together, two sets of eyes is better then one," she said. "And would also be good for if the bandits attack, as knowing their type, they would probably all 5 attack if they see one person on their own, so if there's at least two and 5 attack it might be a little better odds, not extremely, but still better odds then one of holding your own." She also didn't mind going with the other student as he seemed more capable compared to the other students, no offense to Agnar, she respected him, but sometimes he needed to know when to not indulge Luca. And she hadn't seen Megumi fight so she could not determine if the tanguel would be good, though her attitude would probably make it hard to work with. And right now Callan was someone she was getting along with, and he seem3d trustworthy. The boy seemed to have a good head on his shoulders.

"Perfect!" Adora said cheerfully, turning on her heel to begin walking down the dorm corridor, glancing back occasionally as she talked to Jason. "Actually, I'm not sure what they've prepared for today, I haven't been to the dining hall yet." She wasn't a particularly picky eater so the likelihood was that it wasn't going to be anything too unappetising. So far, the food in the dining hall had been a highlight of her short time there and there'd been no-one absolutely atrocious on cooking duty. Food seems to be one thing the surface dwellers get right. "I guess this is a good time to ask what kind of foods you like, hm?"

Yes, maybe this place wasn't all bad after all. The people here were friendlier than his tribe, that he already knew, but it didn't count for much when it came from humans. At her teasing he grinned. "Oh yeah? Well, why don't we grab all our fellow beastkin here and take a trip to Albinea? Then we'll show your cold and harsh climate who's boss!" he laughed but shook his head after, clearly having no intention of actually going through with it. He knew she was right, it would be very difficult or outright impossible for his kind to deal with a harsh winter like that. "Still, I sometimes wonder about the other beastkin. Like, do you Wolfskin stick to your own tribe like the Taguel or do you interact with other tribes? I heard there are quite a few Wolfskin tribes across all of Albinea and some say your kind is more sociable than mine."

“More like tragedy!” Grimm’s eyes widened in mock horror before he shrugged, the mental image of being given gold for the sheer awfulness of his dancing amusing him. “If we ever do a talent contest that could be fun,” he chuckled. “We’ll put some music on, you’ll ride the horse and I’ll dance in the background. At the very least, they might pay us to stop befouling their eyes.”
He nodded as Julius answered his question. “That’s great, that you’re doing what you enjoy.” There wasn’t much else he had to say on the subject, really. “Well, I guess we’ll talk about our little excursion again sometime soon, hm? I should get a start on stable duty so I’ll be taking my leave.”

Rieka chuckled. Wolfskin blood ran hot. Without being heaped up in furs, their physiology was all that kept them from getting frostbite from the cold climate of their home. “I think you’d all have to sacrifice a finger or maybe a toe but, please, be my guest.”
Her head tipped to the side thoughtfully as she considered his next question.
“I can’t speak for all the tribes,” she began, “but ours likes to stay in contact with a couple of its neighbours as a kind of… failsafe for the colder moons. As you know, there isn’t a huge amount that grows in Albinea and during the winters, when prey likes to hide in it’s burrows, it is incredibly easy to go hungry. For this reason, we like to make sure we can trade with the other Wolfskin where possible - food mostly but clothing, building resources, all sorts of stuff. Every now and again tribe will merge too so I guess we do interact with each other quite a lot.”

"What's wyvern duty? And speaking of flying, how fast are they? Compared to horses or a pegasus?" Beastkin could generally match paces with a horse, or if you trained you could sometimes out speed one. He'd never tested his speed against a wyvern though.

Vincent | Wyvern Stables | Rekka"Ah, I suppose you haven't been assigned for it yet. It is one of the tasks we are given here," he explained. During the two weeks here each student had already been assigned for most of the tasks, always paired up with one of their classmates. Vincent had been teamed up with each of the other Eagles, always with a different partner for each task. Some were easy to work with, others were... difficult, to say the least. "But for this specific one only few of us are selected at first. Once everyone has learned the basics of flying they will also have to do this. Basically you and a classmate will take a wyvern or pegasus each and patrol the monastery from the air." At the Kitsune's other question he gave his wyvern a proud smile and patted her muzzle twice. "They can easily be faster than horses. As for how they fare against pegasi, wyverns are generally stronger flyers but pegasi are swifter and more agile. A wyvern could easily take on an enemy pegasus in terms of speed of course but the pegasus will have an easier time dodging an incoming attack."

"Sure. Gotta find Pierce and Rekka sometime too so we can prepare once we get a chance." At the mention of stable duty he bit back a chuckle but nodded. "I guess I'll leave you too it then. I'd love to help but I'm afraid it would only make things harder for you. Oh well, try to have fun anyway."

He quietly nodded along as she spoke about her tribe's relationship with the others in her country. It made sense that this is how they lived. Still it was very different from his own tribe which, he supposed, was one of the more prideful ones. "I've never heard of tribes merging before. Won't there be any disagreements between their members? I know you're all Wolfskin but won't some tribes have some different customs than others or different values?" It definitely was that way for some Taguel tribes. While there were still many similarities between them sometimes there were some big enough differences that would make living with another tribe difficult. "They probably find a way to make it work but it still sounds like a big change. I guess it's true that you have to be able to adapt to many things if you live in Albinea," he said, sounding both impressed and a bit confused at it.
Agnar | Forest | Luca, Bandit Bashers"Can't say I could blame her for that. But yeah, I guess I won't sacrifice you." He did see why the others found the dancer to be irritating and while he considered himself to have a higher pain tolerance to Luca's antics he hoped that the older boy wouldn't grind his nerves too hard. "Alright, we're off then." Agnar didn't notice anything particular in the direction that Luca pointed out but maybe they would find something farther down that way. And if not there was still the rest of their group. If the bandits were really somewhere in these woods then one of the others would probably run into them, if he and Luca didn't. "Good hunt- uh luck, everyone," he said before walking off to where his classmate has pointed, grimacing for a split-second at his choice of words, having said them out of habit. Though he supposed wishing everyone good hunting wasn't so inaccurate, considering they were supposed to kill the bandits. Callan | Forest | Imrie, Bandit Bashers
Callan nodded in agreement at her reasoning. Two on five weren't the best odds but still better than having to face the whole group alone. He and Imrie wouldn't be such a bad team either, he supposed. While both were using a sword and magic they still had different abilities so that it wouldn't be to their disadvantage. He watched Megumi and then Luca and Agnar take off to survey the area and quickly glanced around to see if there was anything suspicious in one of the other directions. For now he couldn't spot anything of interest though so he just took a step in one direction and looked to Imrie. "Can't really tell if we'll find anything that way but I guess we can give it a look?" he suggested.

Jason thought it over. "I'm not really to picky when it comes to food," he said. "I'll eat just about anything homestly. Though i thibk my favorite typewould be anything that is hot, its cold in the kingdom so its always a ncie way to warm up." He made a small face, as he thought over the question some more. "Though I hate ones that use fish. I used to love fish, but my mom made a dish once and overcooked it, and it ruined fish for me. Though i don't enjoy spicy foods either, something about it doesnt taste right." He looked to Adora. "How about you, do you have foods you like more?"

Elara shook her head at her question, giving a small gesture that the house leader could sit with her. She blinked looking up at her in shock. She couldn't imagine training that hard, or that extensively. "I...I haven't done a lot of training, it's always so busy in there, I get discouraged from going in there." She felt guilty swarm her. "I'm sorry..." She knew it was important if she needed to train for the battle but she doubted even if she did train that she would serve to be a good opponent.

“I’m sure there are disagreements,” she admitted. “It tends to be the smaller tribes that merge, if any. The tribes that are already struggling to survive on their own. Some of them have certain resources which makes the union more beneficial.” Obviously there were other reasons why this happened, one of the biggest being the need to bring new blood into the tribes, but most of the time it was a mutually beneficial arrangement to allow for pooling of resources, better protection and more able-bodied hunters. “I guess those groups that go through with it have to compromise or adopt each other’s values. Mine hasn’t yet so I’m just telling you what I’ve been told.” It was nice to get to talk to someone about the intricacies of a topic she knew well. What’s more, Néo could offer a unique perspective on it due to his own similar-in-some-ways but very-different-in-others culture.
“Enough about my home. Why don’t you tell me a bit about yours? I’ve heard that the Taguel tribes are even more independent then that of the Wolfskin so you must have a very different way of doing things.”

"Oh, I'll try!" Grimm smirked, stretched his arms over his head and straightened up from where he was leaning against the wall. "But yeah, find me if anything changes or I'll find you. "And desserts - I have quite the sweet tooth." She smiled slightly at Jason, happy to find a small bit of common ground. "I guess that means I can count on you not to cook anything with fish in it when it comes to be your turn in the dining hall?"

It did sound beneficial but it would probably take a lot for some tribes to even consider asking another for help, let alone agreeing to merge. "Really sounds like to logical thing to do then if a tribe is struggling." It still didn't seem easy but like Rieka had said, the tribes would just have to find a way to compromise. ...which probably was another reason why Albinea really wouldn't be the place for him. While he understood that sometimes change was necessary he was likely to stubbornly resist it at first. "We sure are," he confirmed. "My tribe doesn't interact much with others as our tribe itself is all we need. Sometimes a few Taguel from other tribes join us but since they've left their former homes and sometimes even their families they aren't really trusted at first. Most of us take this whole family thing very seriously so turning your back on them is seen as disgraceful." Which didn't exactly make things easier for him. If he really did want to go back to his tribe he would have to leave his parents behind, as they had made it clear that Faerghus was their home now. So even if Néo managed to travel to Sreng by himself and prove his independence and that he wasn't a friend to humans the tribe would still look down on him for cutting ties with his parents. With a shrug he focused on the conversation at hand. He could figure out how to deal with this when he got there.
"But yeah, like I said, we tend to keep to ourselves. I think the only times we would join forces with any of the others would be if our tribe was threatened by humans. There aren't many who would go after us though and the few who do aren't much of a threat. But if a tribe ever does face the risk of getting destroyed other taguel are expected to fight alongside them, both out of loyalty to our own kind and out of pride," he went on. "So I guess the tribe comes first until something's threatening our pride as taguel. We're also willing to stand with other beastkin if there's a conflict between them and the humans."
