Ooh, thank you!
Valid. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who disagrees with you.
Yeah, honestly, AI is pretty crazy. It has that Zero Escape flavour but if it was tripping .0. It's also high-key scary and makes me anxious. Good game though haha

Looks like I'll have to play that one then! But the sequels to The World Ends with You and The Caligula Effect kinda take priority. Well, once they're released, that is ^^

I assume The Caligula Effect: Overdose is the same game that you were talking about, yes? Had a look because I was curious.

Yup! It's an updated re-release and much better than the original. Still has its issues (combat, dungeons... especially the dungeons!) of course. It also has four characters that weren't in the original (I think the old game was for the PS Vita?) - two for the Go-Home Club and two for the Ostinato Musicians. And one of those four characters is the one I ranted about on the previous page xD
And this year in fall there'll be a sequel. Or in July if you speak Japanese. If they'll release it in Europe too I'll definitely get it. But I kinda hope that they've improved on the combat system and made the dungeons less annoying.

Hmmmm. Good to know! I'll bookmark it for when I have the money spare. Nier Replicant's remake is technically first on my list (and it just released too ahhhhh) and I've also got to check out Code Vein at some point.

Then play those first ^^ Oh, and if you actually do end up buying it one day I should probably mention a few things. While battles are kinda (read: very) annoying you should fight as much as possible. Mostly to bond with your teammates. Get their rank as high as possible as soon as they join. You unlock their character-episodes at certain points in the story but you also need a high-enough friendship-level to see them. And make sure you play everyone's character-episodes as soon as they unlock! In some cases that's very important. Use a guide when you play the character-episodes! In most cases it doesn't matter what you say but there are quite a few instances where a wrong answer can lock you out of it. Play the Musician-Route. At some point, still early in the game, you get an offer to learn more about the Musicians and their motivations. By accepting that offer you can not only befriend the Go-Home Club members but also the Ostinato Musicians. If you want to complete all character-episodes you have to play this route. Don't worry, the main story stays the same. You just get some extra-missions.
Now to not completely derail the discussion page: Are there any other disaster combinations like Grimm and Vincent? Doesn't even have to be cooking, it can be any other task. I don't know about you guys but I want to see some chaos xD And since we brought up the topic of the Adrestian Great Nobles a while ago: Imma grab Domestic Affairs for the von Marquardt dorks. Here's the updated form. Not a big change, I only changed like one line ^^ Vincent von Marquardt | 18 | Male | Black Eagles | Noble | Minor Crest of Marquardt | Vincent is a tall young man with blond wavy hair about shoulder-length and brown eyes. | Vincent likes to treat others with respect, nobles and commoners alike, but he can be unintentionally condescending towards the latter. He's very patient with others but sometimes he's too lenient. Enjoying other people's company he can become annoyed with the more introverted individuals and tends to invade their personal space. He's confident but knows there's still much he can learn. While he's trying to be encouraging to others he's pretty bad at it, focusing more on being positive than helpful. | Vincent has a knack for dress-making and is very interested in it, fashion in general seems to be a subject of interest for him. He also has a great interest in crests and is very eager to learn more about them. | Vincent enjoys flying and spending time with wyverns. He also loves to fish. | Vincent doesn't care much for the people of the Kingdom of Faerghus, thinking they're taking their obsession with chivalry too far. He tries to get along with Blue Lions students anyway, not wanting anyone to think that the Black Eagles are rude. He also doesn't like tea. | Vincent is the son of Friedrich von Marquardt and his wife Gloria. He also has a little sister called Sophia. Open to crushes | Since his father is the Minister of Domestic Affairs of the Adrestian Empire many people have high expectations for Vincent. Of the two children he's the only one with a crest which causes everyone to just ignore his sister. He thinks it is wrong of his parents to play favorites so much and does everything he can to make Sophia feel just as important is he is. The two started out having a close bond but over the years Vincent had less and less time for her. He still tries to be there for her but doesn't succeed as much as he would like to. | His strengths are Axe, Flying and Riding. His weaknesses are Faith, Sword and Brawl. Has a talent for Lance. His crest lets him unleash the power of the bracelet Hagbone. | Pineclaw |

Thanks for the tips, it all sounds like important stuff so I'll add it to a note and look at it when I get around to playing it. Caligula is actually on sale on the PS4 store and I'm so tempted to buy it but I know I should hold off ;^^
Well, okay. I don't know about anyone else but Fion is pretty bad with anything that requires heavy lifting or physical labour. I guess we wouldn't want to put him on weeding or we would, idk, just to see him suffer, you know. I could also see Rieka being super bad with the horses due to her impeccable 'wolf vibes'. She'd end up spooking them all and overrunning the monastery with horses and pegasi. Grimm has a fear of heights so wyvern duty would be worst for him...
I'll change it a bit later. If anyone else wants to claim one of the Adrestian Great Noble roles, do! I'll say the von Hesper are Military Affairs.

You're welcome ^^ Oof, that's a tough one. Your choice, sure, but I suggest holding it off too xD
Oh boy, that looks like fun! As for my characters, we already know what Vincent would be terrible at. Agnar would definitely hate wyvern duty. He usually doesn't mind heights but being on a wyvern is a different story since he doesn't trust riding-animals. While he won't be super terrified he would probably be tense and very short-tempered while on wyvern duty. Julius would definitely be bad at dealing with horses. He hates them and they hate him. Some support-convos in the game suggest that there's also hunting duty. If we're gonna use that too then I think Nora would be pretty bad at it. She lacks the patience and would accidentally scare off whatever animal they're after.
If we're looking for things they are really good at: Vincent is good at wyvern and stable duty, Agnar would do really well at hunting and kitchen duty, Callan is good at wyvern duty too, Nora is good with horses so she'll do great at stable duty. Not sure about Julius but I think he would be good at hunting too.
|
|
|
Post by Sussuru on May 2, 2021 6:05:04 GMT -5
Oh, I completely forgot about hunting honestly! Estelle would be truly AWFUL at hunting. She's far too soft for it and would just end up bringing a bunny back to the dorms or low-key sabotaging everyone's attempts. Stable and wyvern duty would be right up her alley though. Adora, on the hand, is a great hunter.
Guess mine would go something like this.
Fion: bad at weeding and hunting, decent with cooking and horses. Rieka: bad with horses and cooking, great hunter. Grimm: bad with wyverns, maybe the only student who actually cooks as a hobby, decent with horses and weeding. Adora: bad at greenhouse duty, great hunter. Estelle: bad at hunting, good with horses and wyverns, decent cook.

Good thing they can buy meat from the marketplace then xD If the can get away with it, at least.
Oh, right. Greenhouse duty would be a thing too. Okay, including that it would kinda look like this for my characters: Agnar - Bad with wyverns, great hunter and good at cooking Nora - Bad hunter, good with horses and at greenhouse duty Vincent - Awful at cooking, good with wyverns and horses Callan - Bad at weeding, good with wyverns Julius - Bad with horses, decent hunter

Continuing what we said about the Elites and the crests... I looked over the list again and it looks like we created 15. Two of those crests belong to outsiders but that still leaves us with 13. So maybe we'll have thirteen Elites or we come up with some idea for three of them that explains why they are mostly forgotten and only ten are remembered. And like Sussuru said, the "outsider"'s ancestors would definitely be overlooked by most people unless they know a lot about history and crests. The Agarthans would probably know about them though. Hell, it's the reason Akakios dislikes the outsiders who bear crests in the first place. He thinks by leaving Fódlan (either to return to their homes or to move there) their ancestors have betrayed Nemesis. Oh, and how are we gonna handle gold? Sure, the students have some but does it have to last them for the whole year or is there a way for them to get more? Even if it's just from missions, as in keeping the gold they take from the bandits they kill xD
Edit: Even more stuff. Do you think the outsiders might know what happens to those who try to use a relic despite not having a crest? If I remember correctly this is something that's not really known to the general public, thanks to the church. But the church's influence doesn't extend to other countries. Or maybe the outsiders only have a vague idea of what a relic can do to anyone not worthy of wielding it? Maybe some clues are hidden in some of their old stories but they have to piece everything together themselves. Or when there's a mission where a relic gets stolen and the thief turns into a giant demonic beast then the outsider-kids could be like "oh shit, that's what they meant by that!", much to their classmates' confusion. While "normal" demonic beasts (large grown monsters who absorbed magic) exist outside of Fódlan I doubt the same can be said about the crest- and relic-demonic beasts. Unless there have been incidents of stolen relics. But even then it's probably not something the students from there would know. Anyway, I think it could be fun if they had some very vague idea of it but wouldn't know enough to figure it out.

I think every student has an allowance of gold from their parents (or from the academy if there are no living relatives) to start with. After that first bit, people get gold from missions as you said or from the academy itself. Like the academy gives everyone a small amount of gold at the start of every month, but the main source will be missions and, potentially gifts from family. Does that sound reasonable? I could see the winning house of the mock battle getting an increased allowance haha
Yeah, vague ideas seem best! They'll have been warned not to try and use any of the relics since none of them have crests.

Makes sense! And I like that idea, the winners of the mock battle getting an increased allowance. I bet they'll get even more after the Battle of the Eagle and Lion xD Oh, and are tournaments a thing? The ones that are held every month in the game.
Not really important but do you all know what everyone's class progression will be? Just being curious ^^ I'm not absolutely sure about some of my characters but for the most part I know what they'll be.
Nora Noble -> Monk -> Priest -> Valkyrie -> Holy Knight
Vincent Noble -> Soldier -> Cavalier -> Wyvern Rider -> Wyvern Lord
Agnar Commoner -> Myrmidon -> Mercenary -> Assassin or Trickster -> Mortal Savant
Callan Commoner -> Monk -> Dark Mage -> Dark Flier -> Malig Knight
Jasmine
Commoner -> Fighter -> Cavalier -> Paladin -> Great Knight
Julius/Akakios will be kept as a Dancer and will change to Trickster when we're at... that part. Not sure if I'll give him a master class though. I guess Gremory or Mortal Savant would work for him.

Yeah, kinda?
Fion Noble -> Monk -> Priest -> Bishop -> Holy Knight / Unique class (something like a cross between a Holy Knight and a Valkyrie)
Grimm Noble -> Soldier -> Cavalier -> Paladin -> Great Knight
Estelle Noble -> Monk -> Mage -> Warlock -> Gremory -> Dark Flier
Rieka Wolfskin -> Wolfssenger
Philomel
Noble -> Monk -> Mage -> Bishop & Warlock -> ?
Adora Noble -> Fighter -> Archer / Thief -> Sniper (potentially assassin after plot progression) -> Bow Knight (or end at assassin)

Yeah, good luck ^^ And if everything else fails just throw all Master Classes in a hat and draw out two of them.I see a bunch of our characters end up as a riding or flying class. A few of them already have an animal. What about those who don't own one though? Sure, they can use the horses, pegasi and wyverns that belong to the monastery but it would be cool if they could have their own at some point. Oh, and I listed the gift-items that can be bought at the marketplace. Except they don't have to be used as gifts for the rp. The students can just buy them for themselves. It's not important at all but I thought it wouldn't hurt either. At least we'll know what kind of hobby-related stuff everyone can get. We can easily come up with our own stuff but I guess we could use the already existing items if we can't think of anything else xD Floral Adornment Fishing Float Tasty Baked Treat Gemstone Beads Smoked Meat Hunting Dagger Watering Can Whetstone Stylish Hair Clip Dapper Handkerchief Armored Bear Stuffy Training Weight Riding Boots Tea Leaves Legends of Chivalry Goddess Statuette Book of Sheet Music Arithmetic Textbook The History of Fódlan Monarch Studies Book Ancient Coin Exotic Spices Board Game Ceremonial Sword Coffee Beans Book of Crest Designs Blue Cheese Landscape Painting
(And yes, I have liked and disliked items listed for most of my characters. At least for the ones that existed before this rp. Again, nothing important, just some random trivia xD) Ugh. What's with me and making lists anyway? Next thing you know I'll be trying to list all the tea blends that are in the game. Somebody stop me, I'm begging you.

Yeah, the soundtrack is really good. Definitely among my favorites. Always love it when a game has a good soundtrack. Problem is, I always hum the songs at work. But as long as no one notices I don't really care ^^ Usually it's the songs from various Persona games, Rhythm Heaven, The Caligula Effect, Okami and The World Ends with You. Especially bad with the latter, at least with one of the songs. 'Give Me All Your Love' is super catchy but holy crap, the lyrics! I never noticed how lewd the song is, I was (thankfully) always too focused on the boss battle to pay attention. Then I listened to the soundtrack on Youtube, got to that song and yikes xD Honestly, I was surprised too when I not only found a list but also a description for each blend. Didn't expect it at all. At first I only found tea time guides but they weren't useful for this. Then I just searched for something that listed the item shops and there it was! By the way, I also found item descriptions for the gift-items. Not sure if we need them, most item names are pretty self-explanatory. (Edit: And it looks like not all descriptions are listed.) Hm? Not sure what that could be. I only remember my characters' class progression and the spells they can learn. But I think you mean the two spell lists I linked. The ones on SF that have all the Reason and Faith magic in the game.

The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon franchise is really good for hummable music too - their intro themes specifically (or that one sad song that made us all cry at the end of the game). Oh, and Nier. Less hummable, but top tier for writing to. Yeah, wow. Just looked up the lyrics for 'Give Me All Your Love' and can confirm: very lewd. I feel like our conversations always remind of games I need to get around to, TWEWY being a biiig one now that there's a remaster. Yup! That's the one, thank you

Yes! PMD has such awesome music! As for music that's good for writing there's also some stuff I like to use. Really depends on what I'm writing of course and most of the time I write without music but so far I've used the Soundtrack for The First Tree and the ones for the anime Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and its sequel Ginga Densetsu Weed. Well, what are you waiting for? Get your hands on that game! I prefer the DS version (I love how the combat system works there) but the remaster is definitely worth it too. Haha, now make sure you actually add the spell lists
