[ oh that sounds fun! what's the game like? what's the main plot?
Another lockdown?! goodness. It might seem funny, but to an American, that seems like the responsible choice. We have wackos just running back and forth and spreading their incessant diseases left and right all the dang time! Although lockdowns suck (I'm sure you're feeling the boredom and whatnot) I do think they do a lot to stopping a spread. We just have this silly "if you're vaccinated then no mask!!!" rule. Luckily, lots of folks are vaccinated, but there really isn't a lot to stop people from lying... which they do.... a lot....
ANyway, rant over! So sorry about that. For fun, I've really been watching reality TV which is a huge guilty pleasure of mine o.o it's gotten kind of bad... but hey, it's a nice break to watch people squabble over problems that aren't your own xD ]

[ it's like an online mmo so basically you play your character and interact with people and stuff. so far i'm doing the main storyline and it's kinda hard to explain xD Basically its like 'you are a very special adventurer' lol.
Yep, we were doing so well without covid for so long until a taxi driver lied about having a vaccine and got someone infected :/ Australia is in a bit of a weird position kind of like you guys at the moment. We aren't really in a full lockdown, so people who work still travel and something like a candle store is still open because its 'essential'. So despite 'lockdown' (which is mostly just our government saying 'hey guys pwetty pwease stay inside u makie me sad when you go out v.v') cases are still climbing with no end in sigh *sigh*. AND on top of that there's no vaccine readily available! Our government royally screwed up (I won't get into the politics but just know I hate the people in charge lol) so the only vaccine thats readily available is actually considered dangerou for people under the age of 40. Its Astrazenca. The Pfizer vaccine is in short supply so only health care workers, people with disabailities, or eldery people can get it (which is fine they def need it first). But the Government is like 'go get vaccinated everyone!!' when young people such as myself are being told by medical professionals to wait for the pfizer vaccine which... there's no idea when it will be available. Big sigh lol.
Okay lmao sorry for MY rant xD
Reality TV haha what have you been watching? I totally get that lmao ]

wow that's pretty complicated stuff o.o It's so funny to talk to people in other places about their leadership. I think we think everyone else has it better - grass is always greener I guess - but there are problems all over the place, really. I'm sorry things are kind of a mess over there right now. Hopefully more Pfizer vaccines become available and things will start to look up again.
I've mainly been watching things like Survivor, Amazing Race, and The Challenge. It's embarrassing a little, but they just help me take a break from reality xD ]

Yeahhhh I guess no country is perfect haha. It is what it is I guess, hopefully the covid situation ends for everyone soon.
I've honestly never really watched much reality TV but I totally understand just watching stuff to take a break from life lol. That's why I watch anime honestly Cx

CEDARPELT Twolegplace | Sofie | aether
The ginger warrior had to admit - the Sofie's excitement was rather endearing. It was a strange feeling for the tom, who normally found more bubbly individuals infuriatingly cheery. But there was something about this molly that made him want to know more...
Cedarpelt watched as she teetered precariously on the fence posts above him. Her lithe frame swayed a bit even as she sat and addressed him, showing her lack of experience navigating rather uneven precipices. Amusement swirled in his chest, threatening to becoming a humourous purr. He launched himself gracefully up onto the structure, now trailing behind her as they began their trek to the forest. Occassionally, her paws slipped from the thin wood, and her center of gravity lurched toward one side as she strumbled. There were more than one instances where he thought she may fall completely off of the Twoleg contraption, which only intensified his desire to laugh. He did his best to keep his judgment at bay, however - she was his ticket out of the Twolegplace. Naïve as she was, she was still his best bet at escaping and returning home to his clan. Hunting will be a treat if this is how nimble she is.... He thought with an eye roll. What a faustian bargain he had made in this cruel world.
As they walked, he began to reflect on how long he'd been imprisoned in this dreaded place. A sinking feeling opened up in his chest as he realized just how long it had been... He speculated maybe at least a moon, at most a couple. Admittedly, his sense of time had dwindled along with his resolve to escape. He spent the first few sunrises fighting witih all he could to escape the clutched of his captors, mustering all energy he could to break himself out. He wondered what, if anything, had changed in the time he'd been gone. Had the border dispute been resolved? What of the drama that happened at the Gathering? Had Oakstar even take note of his disappearance? Were they looking for him? Was Cloverfoot, or his mother and father? Dread crashed over the tom like a wave. Did his family think he was... dead? The thought made his steps falter. His bright gaze darkened with a fleeting sense of sadness. Perhaps his loved ones had given up their search for him. After all, he hadn't been the most loving of individuals. Maybe they hadn't even bothered to take up a search. Maybe the clan was fairing so well without him, without his aggression and his belligerence, that they cut their losses and moved on. It certainly wouldn't be the first time someone lost hope in him...
Only the smell of the forest brought Cedarpelt back to reality, with Sofie, in the clearing. The molly had stopped on the fenceline, peering into the trees with youthful curiosity. He watched her sway as she spoke, her words drifting meaninglessly into his ears. We'll have to fix that, he thought, tail flicking in determination. His eyes then drifted to the trees, their musty scent providing a sense of comfort as the kittypet continued her monologue. He only snapped back to reality when her tone picked up the hint of inquiry. Cedarpelt's ears swiveled to face her first, and then he drug his green gaze to meet hers. "Fine," he replied gruffly, leaping down from the fenceline. He didn't wait for her as je started toward the forest, his maw open to detect danger. No badgers, dogs, or foxes... this should be fine. "But we'll have to work on your StarClan-awful balance first. You can't catch prey if you can't control your own body first." His words were rather harsh, betraying his anxiety and deepening worry about his clan, but they still bespoke the promise of a hunting lesson.
CHERRYNOSE Gathering Place | aether
"What in StarClan is taking them so long?!" Cherrynose stalked impatiently before the dead monster in the Gathering place, her tail flicking in irritation. "I mean, it was one simple request to meet. It's not so much to ask... Where are they?" The snow white molly's voice held an edge of desperation and anxiety, masked poorly as anger with HeronClan's slowness in arriving.
Finchtail huffed out a deep sigh, rolling his eyes at the molly's behavior. "What did you expect, Cherrynose?" he snapped, gathering his tail around his paws as he settled in a sitting position. "Liars and cheaters always avoid their consequences. It's typical. They know they did, we know they did it... it's not like it's some big secret!" The raven-colored tom's fur began to raise on his back as he spoke, eyes brightening with rage.
"Come on, now," Another voice chimed in, soft with an attempt at mediation. It was Birchstep, Oakstar's sister. Her gaze settled anxiously on the two warriors. "We don't know anything yet. It isn't fair to judge. I know we all want to find Cedarpelt, but slinging unfounded accusations isn't going to help anyone." The calico molly's voice was desperate...
The truth was that this conversation characterized the past moons in HeronClan.
After the most recent Gathering, Cedarpelt had gone missing. After some days of fruitless searching, warriors were getting desperate to find their clanmate. Cats had begun to speculate that Jumpfox - the RippleClan warrior with whom Cedarpelt had a terrible rapport - had done away with the ginger tom in an attempt to neutralize a threa to his clan. The rumor festered in the camp. What started as a theory became a conspiracy, and it was gaining followers by the day. Riverstrike sat at the edge of the group, her steel blue eyes dark with concern. Cedarpelt's disappearance was taking a toll on her companions. Cloverfoot, Cedarpelt's sister, sat stoic at the front of the group, nearest to the dead monster. Her eyes were glazed over with exhaustion. She seemed hollow after days of fervent searching. Strongwater, Cedarpelt's father, was huddled together in intense conversation with Oakstar, who watched as the usually unbothered white tom twitched with anxiety. Beside Cloverfoot was Robinflight, Cedarpelt's mother. The ginger molly's pelt was ragged and dirty, and she shook with self-induced fear. The generally quiet warrior now babbled to herself constantly, reciting old stories of her son's promising kithood and apprenticeship, as if already mourning his death. Her amber eyes glowed with delusion. Heatherflight had tried to give her some herbs for her worry, but nothing seemed to work. The poor mother was sick with anxiety.
Riverstrike felt sympathy grip her heart. Though she had no stomach for Cedarpelt's cantankerousness, it was horrible to see his family so wrought with sadness. "I feel so horrible..." the silver molly whispered to Brooksong, who was sitting beside her. Her gaze was still trained on Cedarpelt's kin. "I mean, what if we never find him?" Riverstrike had asked the same thing of Jackdawstar just the night before, during their meeting. The warrior's disappearance had thrown a wrench into their relationship. They had started seeing each other less frequently, for the leader was often busied with concerns over the growing accusations HeronClan flung at his companions. It was impossible to know how things would continue, with such a dark cloud hanging over their heads and Oakstar seemed determined to close the case. Tonight's meeting seemed more unpredictable than any other they had before, and it was only a matter of time until lies start to become accepted truths.
[Okay, sorry this is kind of rough, but I wanted to get as much in as possible and i have to run to an appointment cx
let me know if you're cool with the plot! I hope i interpreted your suggestion right! ]

Cedarpelt's response was rather... lack-luster. Had he not heard a word she said? His response was gruff; sounding annoyed and uninspired. Sofie frowned as the fence wobbled from the force of his leap down, her claws clenched into the hardwood and she peered down at him with disappointment. She had helped him escape and led him out of the yards; would he ever lighten up? He was so rude... "Fine," she mumbled - barely a whisper - in a mocking way, deriding his word and expression. With animosity rising in her throat, she propelled herself from the fence and landed with a brief stumble that she scrambled to straighten up... just in time for his next comment. She recoiled, not at the truth of the expression (it was undeniable, Sofie certainly didn't have the best balance in all of twolegplace) but at his harsh tone. The molly eyed him for a few silent seconds, her ears perked and she stepped forward to walk a circle around the tom at a calculated and slow pace. Finally, she rounded his front and stared at him straight; her vivid yellow-green gaze matched his dark, emerald eyes. Each agitated flick of his tail, each momentary drop off of his gaze, each twitch of his spine... Sofie's gurgling exasperation began to evaporate in the wake of realization. Yes, she had led him out of twolegplace and yes she was excited to begin the training, but Cedarpelt was far from his home and feeling just as lost and scared as she would be if she had been displaced in the woods. She'd not been empathetic towards the misplaced forest cat. Sofie glanced over her shoulder to stare deeper into the woods and felt a small shiver trill down her spine. It was a world of strange smells and shadows, with looming trees and overwhelming scents - the accumulation of each of these left her excited and nervous all at once.
"How about we continue on a little longer first, actually." She turned back to match his gaze once more, "You are right; I could use more practice. Maybe we can find some logs to practice on while we walk." Her tone inclined with what would have been a suggestion, but she did not wait for his approval. Instead, she turned and began trotting ahead. Unlike Cedarpelt, the kittypet hadn't scented the air to check for signs of danger in the area, she merely strode into the face of the forest with her tail waving behind her. With all her inexperience, her yearn to get practicing was admirable, but her resignation to be empathetic was more so. Although this wasn't empathy that she expressed only to lonesome, rugged wild toms - no, of course not - Sofie would do much the same for those in her community. There had been countless times when she'd been itching to do a particular act, but put the needs or wants of another first.
"Why don't you tell me about these, uh... clans." She turned to ensure he was following before continuing, however before he would have had a chance to begin formulating an answer she let out a surprised yelp and spun her body to face him. "I'm sorry, I don't even know your name! I'm Sofie, although I'm sure you heard Bluebell say my name a few times."
[ iz short, sorry Cx ]
Brooksong Gathering Place | HeronClan & RippleClan |
Brooksong sneered and looked to Riverstrike, ducking her head to mumble quietly, "If we never find him then at least we'll have peace and quiet in camp forever," she spoke softly enough as not to cause an argument with Cedarpelt's family only a short way off. Brooksong's harsh words seemed somewhat forced, not laden with their usual detest that she had for the ginger tom who'd disappeared into the night. She, as much as anyone, had taken part in the patrols to find Cedarpelt after he had mysteriously disappeared. She hadn't been among the first to give up, but she'd come to admit defeat in the searches. That said, she couldn't have anyone thinking she would be glad to see the annoying warrior. "I think the sooner we get this meeting started, the sooner RippleClan can confess, then the sooner we can go home." Brooksong sniffed and straightened up, turning her head to watch Cherrynose pacing beneath the dead monster. Brooksong had, frankly, begun to notice that Riverstrike was disappearing at some point during the night and returning freshly cleaned and tired; she'd not confronted her grey best friend but she was beginning to feel suspicious.
Jackdawstar Gathering Place | HeronClan & RippleClan |
"I told you not to come!" Jackdawstar's pelt prickled with uncharacteristic irritation, his words coming out through clenched teeth. Before him, Jumpfox - the tom often with much to say - was mouthing wordlessly as he tried to grasp at an excuse. "Have you stalked us all the way from camp? Don't you realize I wanted you to stay there for your safety? HeronClan think you killed Cedarpelt!"
"I didn't!" Jumpfox snapped back at his leader, finally finding his footing as he stepped forward to meet Jackdawstar eye-to-eye. "I don't like that fleapelt, but I'm no murderer!"
Jackdawstar wanted to yowl in frustration. It had seemed the moment he'd found serenity in his life beside Riverstrike under the moonlight, the world had shifted to cause more calamities. Their ability to visit each other often was short-lived with the disappearance of Cedarpelt creating a deeper rift between the two clans; border skirmishes were at an all time high and there was only so much Jackdawstar could do before tensions reached their boiling point. "We know you didn't do anything Jumpfox, but-"
"So let me talk to them!" Jumpfox's yowl creaked with desperation, his green eyes glistened with a potion of emotions that Jackdawstar simply could not translate. A tail placed gently across the black leaders shoulders made him turn his head, catching eyes with Bramblefang.
"I think he is right," the tabby tom meowed coolly, "perhaps they need to hear it from Jumpfox themselves." Bramblefang's stare was unwavering, easy for Jackdawstar to translate: trust me.
After a moments pause, Jackdawstar relented. "Let's hurry then, we'll be late now, moon-high is passing." Pushing forward, he strode onward.
He listened as Jumpfox quietly thanked Bramblefang just a tail-length behind and he let out a quiet sigh. Bramblefang is becoming a better leader than I am, he thought wearily. It felt like the loyal tom was frequently offering better advice or decisions, this didn't infuriate Jackdawstar, but it did make him tired and uneasy. With all the running and hiding with Riverstrike, he'd come to doubt himself deeply although that wasn't a fear he brought up to her. In her embrace with her sweet scent lingering in his nostrils all he could think of was the intoxicating serenity of the meeting, of her. To be thrown back into reality upon entering camp was... difficult. The scent of HeronClan warriors filled the breeze and Jackdawstar sucked in a deep, calming breath. Okay... let's go. There was no avoiding this meeting, it had been predicted the moment Riverstrike told him the ginger HeronClan warrior had gone missing. A few paces more, and Jackdawstar pushed his way through the ferns and entered the clearing. Each HeronClan gaze seared burning holes into his pelt and he fought the urge to duck and hide, instead he maintained his regal disposition, appearing sure in himself as he focused his sights on the dead monster and leaped up to its slippery top. Turning around, he scanned the clearing of HeronClan warriors, feeling a pang in his chest as he saw Robinflight's once beautifully groomed pelt and bright eyes now pale and matted. When he saw his beloved Riverstrike in the crowd, he felt some tension loosen in his shoulders, but he made haste in not staring for too long - he didn't want anyone getting suspicious.
His clan filled into the clearing first Bramblefang, who stopped under the dead monster and meowed a quiet greeting to Cherrynose. Then Sedgetail padded shyly beside Whiskerflick who walked extra tall and waved his tail high in the air when they sat, he made sure he was closest to the HeronClan cats so that Sedgetail was nearer the RippleClan cats. Oakpelt and Greystom padded in silently, their serious gazes scanned the clearing before they took their seated positions. Finally, Brightsong was quietly whispering into the ear of Jumpfox when the two littermates pushed their way into the clearing, her tail twitched angrily, but her tone was soft and her eyes round with honest concern.
[ oooh some anime recently is Demon Slayer (everyone loves it), there's also That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime which I personally haven't watched yet but my partner has and it is his favourite ever, Made In Abyss is really cool and interesting but kinda messed me up emotionally, Children Of The Whales was one I watched a while ago and really enjoyed, A Lull In The Sea is also one I watched a while ago is a lot more chill and dramatic with young love vibes. if you do get time and end up watching one lemme know Cx probs Demon Slayer is the most popular of all those and if you liked Death Note you'd probably like that one too.
also mine are rough so don't even worry about it xD i just wanted to get something up, because i'm off to bed now and have work in the morning!
also yeah, this is starting great! i left it there with jumpfox entering in case there was anything that you wanted the heronclan cats to do upon seeing him, otherwise we can just jump into the meeting and stuff. ]

CEDARPELT Twolegplace - Forest Entry | Sofie | aether
Confusion settled onto Cedarpelt's countenance as he watched the petite molly circle around him. His sulking steps faltered as he furrowed his brow, shaking his head slightly in exasperation. "What are you -" The tom's words were cut off by Sofie's abrupt confrontation. Her yellow eyes blazed with a passion unadulterated by the moons the tom had spent conditioned to be wary of his surroundings. In the heartbeat their eyes locked, he saw unbridled spontaneity and wild desire. He saw reckless abandon and ignorant self-assuredness. All of these came in a flash, overwhelming the tom's emotions for a brief moment. Something side of him shifted, like a small build up in a river breaking against the current. She was... alive. More so than he'd been his entire life. A feeling like butterflies rose in his throat, gripping his stomach in an uncomfortable vice. He had recoiled slightly, his ears flattening against his head in alarm - something he has only noticed once he came out of his trance.
To his relief, the kittypet didn't seem to notice his abbreviated epiphany. She was distracted by the looming forest and its enticing shadows, exotic scents, and irresistable draw. Cedarpelt knew it well; he had grown up in love with the thick, marshy landscape of HeronClan, with its thick groves of trees and scent of ecological decay. A small smile curled onto his features as he looked past Sofie and into the trees, but this contentedness was soon shattered by her oblivious barreling into the forest. He rolled his eyes as she sauntered unthinkingly into the trees, and opened his maw to check for any nearby danger. He made sure to stick close to her, in case any surprises awaited them in the undergrowth. Luckily, the only scents he caught were twoleg, kittypet, and the distant - but present - rabbit and field mouse.
Cedarpelt was about to offer a response to her inquiry - as well as some direction for her training - but couldn't seem to get a word in edge-wise. The kittypet was an incessant chatterbox, which didn't do a lot to smooth the large ginger tom's frayed nerves. Her yelp startled him, and sent some sparrows from their nests in the branches overhead. The hair on his shoulders bristled a bit, and his emeral gaze regained its fervent blaze. "First of all," he started in a rather exasperated tone. "The more noise you make, the less prey there will be, and the more danger you attract. So try to keep it down, alright?" He hefted a deep breath, regaining his composure. The tom became acutely aware of his gruff tone in this moment for reasons unknown. Perhaps it was another glance into those innocent, but tenacious, yellow eyes of hers that put him in his place. Perhaps it was her commanding aura - despite her unseasoned manner. Regardless, the warrior visibly softened, shooting her a small but apologetic glance. "Cedarpelt," he offered in a mumble, turning to face her again. "And sure, uh, yeah, we can talk about the clans. I guess... what do you want to know?" Cedarpelt opened his maw once more to check for any danger her yowl may have attracted, but detected none. He then gathered his paws beneath him into a sitting position, curling his tail around them. "Oh, uh, by the way.... Whenever you come into the forest, you should really check for dangers. I know you don't know all the smells and whatnot yet, but it's good to be sure." He cleared his throat, averting his gaze from hers. "You know, just in case."
RIVERSTRIKE Gathering Place | HeronClan and RippleClan
Riverstrike offered no response to her friends cruel words, mostly because she could tell Brooksong didn't actually mean it. Sure, it was common knowledge that Brooksong and Cedarpelt despised one another - it had been the case since they were apprentices. But the molly had been instrumental in leading searches to find their missing clanmate. She downplayed her role, but Riverstrike knew that Brooksong was hoping to recover the warrior just as everyone else was. A small smile darted across Riverstrike's features, almost in a laughing manner, signalling to her companion that she knew the molly was actually quite committed to finding Cedarpelt.
A rustling in the undergrowth caught the silver warrior's attention, and she turned abruptly to face the ferns where RippleClan usually entered. "They're here," she whispered breathlessly, her tone a mix of wistful excitement - at seeing Jackdawstar - and profound anxiety.
All of HeronClan turned to face the ferns, alert with readiness. Some claws were unsheathed. Some pelts were bristled in anticipating. Some low growls even began to rumble like thunder among their ranks. Strongwater looked back Oakstar, getting swiftly to his feet and pushing his hulking frame past the lithe leader. He made his way to the front of the group, now the individual nearest to the arriving RippleClan representatives. His broad featurws showed resolve and determination, his emerald eyes blaxzing with the same ferocity they had passed down to their son. Now I see where Cedarpelt gets it.... Riverstrike thought to herself, her ears flattening against her head as she envisioned violence.
Bramblefang was the first to come through the brush. The tom was respected, even among HeronClan cats, as an effective deputy and a venerable figure. Even Cherrynose - one of the scrappiest of their lot - bowed her head in greeting to him, stepping aside to give him his spot at the monster. Still, her ice blue gaze settled chillingly on his pelt. almost as if to communicate her deep-seated hatred for his kin and clan.
For a moment - just a brief heartbeat - it appeared that the hostilities would remaind dormant. As RippleClan cats streamed in, whispers among the HeronClan brood intensifies, but no one dared make a motion for action, not after last Gathering. Riverstrike felt a flutter of hope in her chest at the prospect of a cool, but professional, meeting between clans. Perhaps they could come together to find a missing warrior, even if he was widely disliked among both parties.
However, that hope was quickly dashed as the ginger pelt of Jumpfox emerged from the undergrowth. Almost immediately, aggressive hisses and indigant yowls erupted from HeronClan. Finchtail and Cherrynose sprang to their feet and began hurling insults at the RippleClan tom. Pelts bristled and teeth were bared. Even Kestrelwing - one of the more temperate personalities - was on his feet in objection. Strongwater tracked Jumpfix through the crowd, his green gaze narrowed. The intensity in his stare was terrifying, even for Riverstrike, who knew the hulking white tom to be stoic and cold, but never aggressive. His claws sunk into the ground as he very clearly tried to restrain himself, long coat bristling with rage.
Meanwhile, Oakstar's eyes filled with genuine concern as her clan burst into an uproar. Bewilderment spread like wildfire across her features, coupled by a profound anger blazing in her eyes. She quickly whispered something to Larkstripe, who gave a curt nod and began making the rounds to calm down his clanmates. The black and white tom eventually made his way over to Brooksong, and muttered, "Oakstar requested that you and I try to settle the tension. Won't be easy. Can you do it?" or something along those lines. Riverstrike wasn't paying too close attention, for her eyes were trained - horrified - on Jackdawstar.
"Why in StarClan's name did you bring him here?!" The hiss came from Oakstar, who had pulled Jackdawstar aside on the dead monster. Her pelt bristled with anxiety and her eyes blazed with restrained fury. "You know how my warriors feel about this! Are you mouse-brained?" The tortoiseshell leader let out an exasperated breath, taking another look to her clan. Her tail flicked behind her as she saw Larkstrope making the rounds, trying to ease the cacophany that had ensued when Jumpfox entered. After a couple of heartbeats, she seemed to regain her composure, coat smoothing. "Look," she began, fixing her olive gaze with his yellow one. There was a seriousness about her, one that was much deeper than usual. "I know Jumpfox did not do this. We may not get along, you and I, but you are a good leader - one that I respect - and your warriors have good hearts," she said in a low voice. This was an outlandish display of compassion by the HeronClan leader. "But we have to find him. We have to." She flicked her ears toward Robinflight, now quivering uncontrollably. Cloverfoot was trying desperately to console her mother, but to no avail. The molly had been set over the edge by Jumpfox's presence. Her babbling had given way to fits of nonsensical yowling, her voice horse from mourning. Even Oakstars voice wavered when she had spoken, like a concerned mother. She regarded Jackdawstar again, seeming to search his soul with the intensity of her gaze. "Will you help me?"
[ sheesh SORRY i really rambled on that last one! xD Everything has typos im sure, but I will fix them tomorrow c: ]

Interestingly, the ginger and white tom seemed only to become more frazzled after Sofie's decision to keep moving onward. Her brow rose with intrigue, peering at him as his shoulder's bristled. Was I wrong? She blinked at him, hearing but not necessarily listening to the words he spoke, instead she tipped her head and watched him with studious fascination. "Sorry," was her bland reply, though her expression was mingled with curiosity and charm alike. Despite his clear annoyance, he seemed changed in some way - it was the quick way in which he regained his composure, the fact he'd technically given her good advice even if the presentation hadn't been so polite. When he spoke his name, his tone was much gentler, which caught her by surprise. She was so surprised, in fact, she hadn't a chance to laugh at how utterly ridiculous the name sounded. She caught his emerald gaze as he turned to face her and she smiled at him, the lingering surprise made way for the light-hearted amusement, though his next words caught her attention and she became much more engrossed in the idea of learning more about this strange tom and his homeland than the thought of commenting on his peculiar name. She prepared to open her maw and spill questions, however they caught in her throat as he continued, once again offering advice, yet this time he seemed... well, he almost seemed nervous. Given his gentler approach at offering critique, Sofie felt inclined to truly take the advice then to brush him off. "Is that what they teach you? In your clan?" Her head tipped slightly in earnest captivation.
She settled affront Cedarpelt and mimicked his stance, her bushy brown and white tail curled over her forepaws, taking a small collection of leaves with it. "What does you name mean, too? Cedarpelt is quite..." - how to put it delicately - "... foreign sounding. Most of the cats with their housefolk are given a name by our twolegs, so who gives you that name?" Unfortunately for Cedarpelt, now that Sofie's mind had begun running with questions her tongue also starting moving to keep in time, so her words and queries began to run like a waterfall. "How many other cats are in this clan? Can anyone join? What do you do if someone gets sick? Oh, when it is snowing! You must get so cold without a twoleg nest to stay warm in!" Her kittypet ignorance shone in the depths of her eyes as did her sincere concern, "Is there just one clan? You mentioned 'StarClan' before, or is that what your clan is? A Dark Forest too, that doesn't have 'Clan' in the name, but you said that before," her tail tapped the ground a few times as a sudden wave of excitement swept over her, "Do you think that if I could hunt I would be invited into the clan?" She blurted.
Wait! I wasn't supposed to ask that! Embarrassment covered her like a blanket and she ducked her head to send a few swipes over her ruffled chest fur, "Of course, I don't really care, I've got my twolegs and all," she did her best to force a laugh into her tone. Her babbling excitement ended there abruptly, her head still duck to avoid his gaze as she busied herself by using her claws to pull leaves and twigs from her tail. Truthfully, she wanted him to answer the question, and she wanted him to say 'yes'. Through her rose-coloured glasses, the idea of living in the wild, to hunt and survive, thrilled her. She yearned so desperately to have a life that was exciting, to wake up and feel alive, not wake up dreading the thought of appeasing nosy neighbors and eating cat kibble. Given Cedarpelt's disheveled appearance, it was obvious a life outside of twolegplace wasn't easy, yet when she did finally raise he chin to meet his eyes again, hers burned with a passion that blazed like a wildfire.
JACKDAWSTAR Gathering Place | HeronClan & RippleClan
Jumpfox stiffened as caterwauls began, his dark green eyes rounded like two moons, his maw slackened from the shock; for once in his life, he was dumbfounded into silence. He turned his gaze around the clearing, catching the sympathetic eyes of his clan mates, but also noting their uncomfortable shuffles and averting looks. Instinctively, his claws unsheathed and pressed into the soft earth, and he halted just in the entrance to the clearing. Beside him, Brightsong's white and ginger pelt bristled until it was as pointed as a porcupine, her response defensive and passionate as she began arguing against the aggressive yowls from the HeronClan warriors. Her words were incoherent to Jumpfox, his attention has long since been claimed by the presence of Strongwater - the great tom stalked him like a mouse in the roots of an oak, forcing Jumpfox to gulp against a rising sense of anxiety. He had insisted on going to the meeting. He knew he would face repercussions, though he didn't know how deeply he was despised. They are wrong! They don't know me at all! Finally, Jumpfox seemed to click into his sense of self, finding enough power within his nervous muscles to stare eye-to-eye with Cedarpelt's father. His intentions were to prove his innocence however the incessant hissing and yowls were being to make his blood boil. It's not my fault that Cedarpelt ran away like a coward! "I didn't touch a hair on Cedarpelt's flea-bitten pelt!" Jumpfox snapped, his harsh words exploded with little forethought, but his gaze burned with a profound passion.
"Okay, mouse-brain, you don't make a convincing point there!" Before any response could be given from her stoic white clanmate, Brooksong intervened. After having been instructed by Larkstripe, she jumped into action in settling her clanmates; offering empathetic acknowledgements to her clanmates horror, but then reasoning with them to calm down. Brooksong stared pointedly at Jumpfox who sneered and turned his head defensively, then she looked to Strongwater and flicked her ears sympathetically. "Come on, Robinflight needs you right now. Let Oakstar deal with this." For a molly who was so often harsh and outspoken, her unsung positive traits shone brightly during times of trial. She touched her tail tip to Strongwater's shoulder, "Let's go." Thankfully, Jumpfox knew better than to argue as the tabby and white molly turned.
Atop the dead monster, Jackdawstar left out a confounding sigh; his yellow gaze meeting the green of Oakstar's iris's spoke a thousand words. "He wasn't invited. Though he wouldn't take no for an answer..." his face softened as he continued, "he wants desperately for others to know he is innocent, even if he is impatient and foolish." His everlasting calm seemed to contrast with Oakstar's exasperated urgency which was reflected in the movements of the two leaders. Where Oakstar fidgeted and flicked her tail, Jackdawstar sat and curled his tail around his forepaws, sitting straight and regal - trusting in his deputy and senior warriors to turn the arguing and yowling from a boil to a simmer. "I've never seen him so passionate and you know just as much as I do how passionate Jumpfox can be." As she regained her composure, Jackdawstar could hear the clanmate's beginning to quite, although they still talked - shocked - amongst themselves.
Despite his suspicions that Oakstar was on his side, it was certainly a relief to hear the tortoiseshell speak it herself. He recalled his meeting with Riverstrike the night before, she'd given him advice on the mentality of her clanmates, he knew just how much they despised Jumpfox, but he knew that not all hope was lost. At the thought of his blue mate he yearned to search for her once more in the crowd yet he had to stay focused; this meeting was important. Not just for the safety of Jumpfox, but Cedarpelt too. However, even knowing that Oakstar wouldn't argue his trust in Jumpfox, her words did startle him, reflecting in the depths of his bright eyes for a brief moment. He hadn't expected such kind words to leave her maw. He didn't hesitate to reply to her quiet plea, "We'll find him, Oakstar." His voice was so resolute that it wouldn't have been a shock if Cedarpelt's form suddenly appeared before them. In that moment, his leadership shone like a bright star on a dark night; the unassuming tom was no longer just that, but he was also a great tree that sheltered his clan from a storm. One could feel comforted just in hearing the assuredness of his tone and body language. "I'm sure you've patrolled every perimeter of your territory," Jackdawstar remembered the night that tom had disappeared. It had been the first night that he and Riverstrike had met at Flatstones, their meeting had extended into the night but was cut just short when rain had begun to fall - tracking Cedarpelt after a night's rain would have been impossible. "But I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for where he went... Here, let's get everyone settled and we can share ideas."
Jackdawstar rose to his paws and stepped a paw forward to address the two clans. Hostility and tension was palpable in the air, it's choking aroma proved just how difficult it would be to mend the distrust between them. "I'm sure we've all got much we want to do and say," he began, his voice ringing loud enough to cut off any rebuttals that may be thrown his way, "But are we here to quarrel like kits? Or to find a lost warrior?"
[ sorry, i'll work on jackdawstar but i'm tired xD so i'll do it in the morning before work! i got caught up playing that final fantasy game and now it's late Cx

RIVERSTRIKE & OAKSTAR Gathering Place | HeronClan & RippleClan | aether
It was as if lightning had struck in the Gathering Place. The air was fraught with tension and negative energy, pulsing with vivid life. HeronClan cats hissed and spat at the entrance of Jumpfox. Pelts britsled and claws unsheathed. And truly, Riverstrike couldn't blame them. Although she sat in the back of the crowd, half-shrouded by shadows, she felt an instinctual tug to join into the action. It goes without saying that the blue molly was as different from her clanmates as day was from night, but it was still HeronClan blood that coursed through her veins. Her father, Eaglecrest, had been one of the fiercest warriors in the clan's long and storied history. He was notorious for his cruelty in battle and his stolid disposition. Her mother, Silverlight, on the other paw, had been obscured by her mate's ferocious reputation. Though little was known about the molly, Riverstrike had been told she was gentle and caring, with a strong conviction toward duty and a profound sense of responsibility - not so unlike herself. Alas, the grey-pelted warrior had lost her parents to Greencough not long into her kithood. She had been raised in part by Hollymist and Sorrelclaw, and spent most of her early apprenticeship changing their bedding in the elders' den. And yet, despite this history, and her genetic temperment, Riverstrike couldn't help but feel....drawn to the action. It was the other half of her ancestry, calling her to join in the fight, to defend her clanmate's tarnished honor. But her paws stayed firmly planted on the dirt underneath her, her tail curled tightly around her front in a coil. Her ears were flat against her head, ice blue eyes blazing with anxiety. She watched as her friend obeyed Larkstripe's request, weaving gracefully through the crowd. In Brooksong's wake was a wave of calm. It appeared that each cat she encountered immediately respected her request to cease and desist. Their pelts smoothed and claws sheathed. Their yowls of displeasure sunk into disgruntled murmurs, albeit begrdugingly. Riverstrike blinked. tipping her head to one side. A small flourish of pride danced in her chest - her tabby and white companion appeared a natural leader in this catastrophically turgid time.
The most shocking feat was her ability to get Strongwater to keep his composure. The massive white tom had seemed ready to implode with aggression, his deep emerald gaze burning with murderous intent. He barely heard Brooksong's soft words over his own racing thoughts. It wasn't until his mate's name - Robinflight - had been uttered did he snap out of his manic stupor. The elder warrior blinked a few times. fixing his gaze onto the ground. It was as if he had returned to earth from a distant planet. confusion settling onto his countenance. He then turned to Brooksong briefly. before looking past the tabby molly to his family beside the dias. "Oh..." The utterance was barely audible. almost like it was a whisper lost to the late Greenleaf wind that whisked through the clearing. Strongwater got clumsily to his feet, suddenly overcome with concern. He made his way to Cloverfoot and Robinflight, placing his solid body before the dark ginger molly to shield her from the seen. It was unusual to see the characteristically stoic pair so overcome with convoluted emotion. Even Cloverfoot, with her infamously unempathetic and empty disposition, huddled beside her mother, cooing soft words of reassurance.
The scene send a fissure through Oakstar's heart. Her vision had returned to the grieving family as Jackdawstar offered his response. Her expression softened at the sight of them, replete with helplessness. The tortoiseshell leader couldn't help but to share in that emotion. After releasing a short sigh, she returned her gaze to meet the RippleClan leader's, and offered a curt nod in response to his promise. As much as she resented it, the black leader's words had slowed her racing heartbeat. He did command respect, and so easily. It was confounding to Oakstar. She had grown so accustomed to using intimidation and fear to garner her support that it didn't occur to her that she could in venerability through mutual accoumtability and composure. It was not the way she had been conditioned, not when she was deputy to Crowstar. He had been a powerful leader, one who wilded influence through threars and ultimatums. It was the only way she knew how to lead, the only way she learned. And now, here she was, feeling once again like an apprentice in the presence of the RippleClan figurehead. When he stepped forward and offered his commanding voice to the crowd, Oakstar drew in a prepatory breath: this night would not be easy. HeronClan would not go down without a fight, and a scrappy one at that. Normally, such a thing would please the ruthless molly - it had always amused her to watch as her underlings went to work for their legacy. As if anything really meant that much.... But tonight. Tonight was different. There was a murder trial of sorts to be had, and it would not be a judicious event.
"Jackdawstar is right," Oakstar shared her voice next, stepping up beside her counterpart. "I understand the tensions that have been building. Undoubtedly, there are broken heart among us tonight -" Her gaze flicked to Robinflight, who had been calmed significantly by the presence of her kin. "- and there are questions that need to be answered." A shaky silence filled the Gathering Place for a brief moment, speckled with coughs and disapproving murmurs. She swallowed against the numerous eyes, looking expectantly upon her. HeronClan wanted a witch hunt, they craved it. She could feel the desire fill the air like poison. However, her own gaze sought the ginger and white pelt of Jumpfox, who sat at the front of the d ias. The smell of anxiety was coming off of him in waves - Oakstar could sense it from atop the dead monster. The tom's eyes were hectic, paranoid. She couldn't blame him. And yet, he was the star of the show, and he had willingly walked on set. "I believe it best if we hear from Jumpfox himself. It is no secret that he has been the topic of all conversation since Cedarpelt's disappearance. It is high time we heard from him." Though her voice was curt, emotionless, her body language toward the tom communicated her trust in him. This was in spite of the yowls of indignation coming from her own clanmates. HeronClan warriors hurled harsh words of disapproval at their leader, some of them springing to their feet - undoing the damage control so meticulously done by Brooksong and Larkstripe.
An intense irritation rose in the leaders throat, and escaped her maw in a booming response. "Silence, all of you!" she replied aggressively, her pelt bristiling. Angry disappointment colored her visage. "I will not hear any more protests at this Gathering. We will handle this with grace, and if you cannot, I will remove you myself." Shocked silence rippled through HeronClan. Riverstrike would have been shocked at the molly's collective reprimand, but she was too preoccupied with admiration for Jackdawstar to even notice her leader's frustation. The way he sat up on that dias, so confident and calm - it filled a hole in her heart she had not known existed. Her heartbeat quickened with pride, unadulterated joy and affection coursing through her. It should have taken her aback, this genuine love she felt for her mate, but it did not. It pleased her to know she had been so lucky to have found an honorable, respectable companion in a world that often felt so lonely and cold. For a brief moment, as Oakstar regarded her clan, Riverstrike's vivid blue gaze caught Jackdawstar's composed yellow one. Her heart fluttered with youthful excitement, sending a thrill down her spine. She offered the leader a small, almost imperceptible, dip of her head in encouragement and a vague wave of her tail. Her care for him was palpable.
Oakstar's voice shook Riverstrike out of her stupor. "Jumpfox," the name of the accused felt out of place on the HeronClan leader's tongue. Her bright green gaze met his. "It is time for you to share your story." Although her body language was regal and commanding, her eyes begged for his understanding. She seemed to ask him, non-verbally, to make the right choice in this matter. Choose your words carefully.... She thought as she regarded him, hoping her intense gaze would communicate her musings.
