CEDARPELT Twolegplace aether Sofie
A small, almost imperceptible click drifted softly into Cedarpelt's ears. It was faint and insigificant, ttoally consumed not onyl by Sofie's persistent questioning but also by the russet warrior's indignant inner-monologue. The kittypet beside him was a confounding creature. Her aloofness, her passive nature - although relatively characteristic of a kittypet, due to their life of sheltered ignorance - seemed almost intentional. It was difficult to describe, but her nature appeared enlightened in a way that was different from those of her ilk. It affronted Cedarpelt. He had been forceful in his rebuke, putting concerted effort into creating a hostile and unwelcoming tone. And yet, she remained impervious. Discomfort prickled beneath his fure, bringing an unusual heat to his skin. Because he couldn't quite decipher what he was feeling, he reverted to his usual anger and irritation. Thus was evident in his body language. Still slumped over in a heap of deflated misery, he faced his back to the kittypet visitor. His tail quivered with frustration and his brow furrowed over bored green eyes. There was desperation in his figure, communicating his fervent desire to escape the twoleg-generated confines that restricted his freedom. It was palpable. Although he would never admit it, the tom was afraid. The environment he was in was foreign to him. For someone usually so self-assured, being in a place where he felt out of control completely disenfranchised him. And it was eating at him like ants on a scrap piece of prey.
He latched onto Sofie's mention of a cat she called Mischief. As she continued on, Cedarpelt felt his arrogant annoyance make room for a bit of reluctant curiosity. By the way she was describing it, it sounded like Mischief had been a clan cat, but the warrior wasn't aware of any recent captures or escapees in either of the clans' allegiances. His ears perked slightly and a certain brightness returned to his eyes. His desperation to escape was further exacerbated by the idea that a clan cat may have found their way out of a place ilke this. Although he wasn't completely convinced of the kittypet's trustworthiness - or, really, her intelligence - he was willing to put that aside to find out some information that could potentially break him free of his prison. He pushed himself to his paws, now sitting across from the molly, the metal bars separating their positions. "Did you say there was another warrior here?" he asked gruffly, ignoring her other inquiries. Of course, he had heard her other questions and comments, but he truly couldn't care any less about her desire for education. She wasn't his apprentice, and he owed her nothing. His eyes blazed with intensity, boring deep into Sofie's pale gaze. However, he was meant with a certain blankness from her, an inability to respond. Annoyance bubbled in his chest as he realized his folly. Rolling his eyes, he stomped one white paw impatiently and asked, "The-the - what did you call it? - the free cat," his voice was strained with irritation. "Did she say where she was from? Or how she got out?"
Cedarpelt was now standing, stalking back and forth in a threatening pace. Any observer could see the wheels turning in his head as he formulated a plan. All he needed was the key information - information that Sofie probably had - to get him out of here and back into the forest. His tail flicked sharply behind him as he awaited an answer, his bright green eyes flicking occassionally to the kittypet to see her reaction. He cared not about Sofie's cojoling or desire to fraternize. He cared not about her lessons with this Mischief character or even her amiability. He cared only about what she may offer to him as a means of escape. Consumed only by this desperation, and his arrogant exasperation with her perceived simplicity of mind, Cedarpelt had failed to realize that he had been free to leave this entire time. Thanks to Sofie, of course, he could have pushed his way out of the cage right now and left her sitting dumbfounded in the dust. But no - his characteristic pretension had inhibited his ability to see the truth of the situation. Unsurprisingly, the tom was hamstrung by his own over-inflated ego - something Sofie was soon to learn.

SOFIE There was a disappointed flicker of Sofie's whiskers as her questions fell onto deaf ears; he had cherry-picked the words he wanted to hear, and closed his attention a moment after they had been uttered. However, the setback to her plan of learning to hunt melded into something different altogether as her interest piqued by the shift in his attitude. The gruffness to his tone scraped with boredom just as it had done when he berated Bluebell, but now there was something new in his movements that felt like a small victory in Sofie's mind. The sudden glimmer in his eyes was impossible to name but the intensity of the green depths led her to believe that he was perhaps not so harsh as he tried to make himself seem. Her maw curled with interest and she blinked her eyes slowly, allowing a moment to pause and consider his questions. As he began to strut back and forth with impatience she stepped back and allowed herself a satisfyingly long, leisurely stretch. Her movements seemed fluid whilst also purposeful, as she eyed him from the corner of her minty green gaze, her aura seemed to reply, you may be powerful, but I'm not some puny kittypet.
"I do not know if Mischief was a, what did you say? Warrior?" She tipped her head thoughtfully, "She lived in the forest, near the river - at least that's what she told me. She didn't tell me much of where she came from." Sofie reeled back her stretch and straightened her posture, turning her head to look out towards the fenceline. On the other side of the fence was another twoleg nest. The forest was some distance away, Sofie hadn't even been there herself, but she'd heard stories. After the stretch of yards and nests laid a twisting maze of blackpaths where twolegs used their shining beetles to travel back and forth. It was quite peculiar, but something Sofie had learned during her first moons of life was that twolegs were stupid creatures and it was best to never give their actions purpose. They merely did as they pleased, even if it made no sense to her. "Actually, I helped her escape." Sofie's voice was surprisingly chipper and she whipped her head back to meet Cedarpelt's gaze. She shrugged with agonizing indifference, as though it was of little importance. Truthfully, even if she tried to remain humble and aloof, she couldn't help the inkling of satisfaction she felt at knowing that for a moment she held the high ground over the tom. She wasn't one for being hot-headed or stubborn, she didn't care if someone thought they were better then her, but it would be a lie to say she didn't relish that moment. "Twoleg's are stupid and their twoleg things aren't hard to figure out," she let out an amused purr and turned tail to sprint across the yard. With a heaving leap, she propelled herself to the top of the fenceline and whipped her tail as she teetered and found her balance. A cool breeze pushed the whiskers against her cheeks and she turned back to look at Cedarpelt, now small behind the bars.
He didn't take her seriously. She could tell that much from his agitated gestures and glowering stare. Was it worth it, for her, to pursue any interaction with him? He could just as easily disappear from her the moment he was allowed - the moment she told him that freedom was right in front of his nose. Yet... it was true that Sofie was a born and bred kittypet, hopeful and optimistic even when times could be dire. She willed so strongly to learn more, to get a glimpse of freedom, and even if Cedarpelt turned out to be even more insufferable outside the cage at least she could conclude that she'd tried. Digging her thorn-sharp claws into the hard wood of the fence she opened her maw and spoke, staring intently towards the ginger tom. "I've open the cage already. All you have to do is step out." Her neck craned back around and stared ahead over the labyrinth of twolegplace, when Cedarpelt undoubtedly sprang to his freedom he would be faced with the same view she gazed upon. For her it was familiar and unchanged; the array of brightly coloured twolegs nests, the unending line of fences, the gusts of wind through her whiskers which carried the scent of dog and twoleg-scents. In the distance, treetops were peaking above everything, but it should not be confused with a forest. The trees in the distance here marked the divide between twoleg territory and the blackpaths, beyond there... Sofie had never trekked that far. Would he dive straight past and disappear into the haze of twolegplace? Sofie shifted her paws in a moments hesitation, if he did leave her she shouldn't care for his wellbeing but... he doesn't know anything of this place.
[ i feel like this isn't my best work but i wanted to get something out there xD thank you sooooo much for you patience! you are wonderful <3 ]

CEDARPELT Twolegplaceaether Sofie
A litany of questions and curiosities poured ceaselessly from the kittypet, he pale green eyes glittering with sheltered investment. The lack of urgency in her actions made Cedarpelt's fur burn with suppressed irritation. He continued his stalking, though his steps faltered with frustration as he struggled against the rising tide of anger. These kittypets and their dumb narcissism... he seethed inwardly, rolling his eyes against Sofie's suggestion. Did she really believe herself capable of such a thing? Sure, maybe she knew a thing or two from her life of sequestered imprisonment - Cedarpelt wasn't foolish enough to deny such a truth. She is a local, after all. But to help what sounded like another warrior escape the clutches of the hulking, threatening hoard of Twoleg beasts? Well, this seemed a bit above her paygrade. Something in her next statement, however, brought the ginger tom to a halt. Their twoleg things aren't hard to figure out...
Humiliation seared through Cedarpelt, hot and stinging. The feeling was so overwhelming, so injurious that he felt his ears flatten against his head and his dark green eyes widen with astonishment. Suddenly, it dawned on him. The swift movements she had made earlier, her proximity to the metallic sticks that mitigated his freedom.... the soft, slight click sound, lost to his inner-monologue of self-importance, pugnacity, and fear. It had been her. She had finagled her way to the latch on the gate of the catch, tinkered with its machinery, and unhinged the cage door. The large tom recoiled against the confirmation of this fact, his heart beating through his chest, embarrassment palpable. His pride stung as if it had been swarmed by a thousand wasps, sending a rush of heat to his face as he turned to the cage door. A dark scowl slashed across his wide features, ears still pressed against his skull, whiskers twitching with prideful indignation. Mistrust still lingered on his disposition and he shot the kittypet a disbelieving glare. It looked as if he wanted to utter a sharp retort, to lambast the molly for her ignorance, and reprimand her for manipulating him. But such words would be useless. He kept his eyes on the molly as he sulked to the cage door and ventured a timid paw to the sticks, their surface cool against his calloused pawpad. Light as air, the metal door - a squarish section of bars - gently swung open. Cedarpelt hopped backward in reaction, fear circling his throat in a vice grip. The movement sent shock down his spine, the feeling quickly followed by a renewed sense of debasement. The warrior's deep green gaze found the molly's pale one, pulsing with irritation. Their glow, however, was softened a bit by the blow she had dealt, and the beginnings of new emotion swam in their depths: admiration.
Though he steemed with embarrassment as he stepped out of the cage, he couldn't help but feel a nagging sense of curiosity rise in his chest. He still regarded the kittypet, now perched triumphantly on the fence posts above him - which he resented profoundly, given how ungracefully she had arrived at her station - with guarded caution. Like she was an enemy warrior, ready to strike should he misstep. His visage was still twisted into an ugly frown, brows furrowed harshly over his gaze. The hair on his shoulders bristled lightly, and his paws itched to bolt. He shot a quick glance in the direction of the forest, catching site of the winding Thunderpaths risen over the fenceline. The roar of the Twoleg machines tainted the spring sounds with its consistent droning, fading in and out as they came and went. The smell was pungent, acrid, and hot. The Twoleg place smelled of decay in the marsh when it baked under a Greenleaf sun. Cedarpelt had experienced it before, when Oakstar had taken him to the Thunderpaths as an apprentice. She wanted him to know what Twoleg creations were, to see how they were encroaching upon their territory, destroying the forest. It had been her - a senior warrior at the time, about to be named deputy - who had warned him about the Twoleg place, cautioned him to never go near it. no matter how desperately he may be in need of a shortcut to camp. The memory stung Cedarpelt,. his eyes clouding over for a brief moment in the backyard with Sofie. Sadness flashed across his face, followed by a brief, almost imperceptible look of fear. He quickly pushed it away, but the truth was undeniable - despite what Oakstar taught him, the tom knew nothing of this place. He didn't know how to navitage his way out, how to evade thw Twolegs... This was evident from the capture that brought him here. He did not want to admit it, but this curious molly may be his ticket to a safe return to HeronClan. Arrogance pushed and pushed against the idea, digging its poisonous claws into Cedarpelt's soul. One could say that the ginger tom was haughy and capricious, but one could never say he was a fool.
Cedarpelt set his jaw and huffed out an indignant breath, his scowl giving way to a resigned frown. His white-tipped tail flicked restlessly behind him as he turned to the molly, regarding her with a gaze that pierced like thorns. "Okay, fair enough," he grumbled - the closest thing Sofie wouod get to an admittance of defeat. Just the three words seemed to scrape Cedarpelt's throat like burrs. He averted his eyes closing them briefly. The task of asking her for help was clearly arduous for the self-assured warrior. Lest, he persisted, though not without a gruff approach. "Look, I know you know how to get out of here. Help me, and I'll -" The tom rolled his eyes, shoulders dropping in a final representation of defeat. "I'll teach you how to hunt or something..." The words were muffled under thinly veiled unwillingness. Suddenly, he straightened, back once again to his militant seriousness. "But no more games!" It would clearly take moons for Cedarpelt to get over his bruised ego, his pelt still hot with mortification.
[ sorry it's not my best x3 the roughness will straighten out soon, I hope ~
Also, now that things are lightening up, I'm hoping to get a post started with the clans at home realizing Cedarpelt's absence. I'm thinking maybe an emergency gathering? Oakstar, clearly torn up about his disappearance (they have like a mother-son relationship) starts making rash accusations, like Jumpfox killing him and whatnot. This it taking place right before a thunderstorm breaks, and they all take shelter at their camps before the issue can get settled. A lightening strike hits something (a tree?) in RippleClan, which starts the fire?? what do u think? ]

no sweat pal <3
I’m so happy to hear that you love what you’re doing! That makes me feel so great. It’s so important to enjoy your studies. I totally get feeling a little spread thin - this place should be an outlet for creativity, friendship, and community. We should always return to it when we feel rested and ready for some art! I’ll always be here when you’re ready to come back. Besides, some time away during busy life moments makes writing better, I always feel ~ c: I can’t wait to get back into it when we both have some free time!
I’m doin allllllright. I start grad school in about two weeks, which will be a whole new ball game. But for now, just working and enjoying the graduated life lmao
Congrats on finishing up the semester soon!!! I’m sure that feels so rewarding. You should be proud! Any big projects you’re looking forward to finish? I’d be happy to learn more!

SOFIE
There was something immensely amusing about the uptight way Cedarpelt refused to seem grateful. The rugged forest cat spoke few words, but each of his pointed movements and each flicker of his expressive eyes made one thing clear; he wanted to move on and resigned to knowing he needed help. There was a twinge of satisfaction in her stomach knowing that she'd gained the upper-hand against this tom who so vehemently didn't want it to be so, yet Sofie knew better then to rub his face in it. No doubt that would cause him to stubbornly reject her altogether and she didn't want that to happen. This was as close as she'd ever been to having some sort of fun in her life! The idea of helping this tom navigate out of twolegplace and teach her to hunt sent excited trills to her paws - and after they'd parted ways she would continue to use those newfound skills to maintain a sense of freedom. Her tail shivered excitedly behind her and she grinned, "No more games!" She was hardly able to contain her exhilaration, it bubbled out through the tone of her voice.
The molly straightened up her shoulders and sent her tongue over her shoulder fur a few times to flatten her coat as she considered the next move. They'd have to move along quickly before the twolegs walked out and found Cedarpelt's cage empty, luckily they had plenty of daylight to work with. She should be back in her twoleg nest before dinnertime! "Let's go, there's a few nests around here with pesky dogs so if we seem to be traveling in a long-winded fashion it's because I'm avoiding those yards." She turned tail swiftly - spent a heartbeat teetering - and she set off on the path. The sun was halfway to being overhead, meaning it was still early in the day, so she maintained a quick pace. She was no balancing deity though and a few times a paw put wrong caused her to slip and scramble to regain her balance, which in turn made her pelt heat with a thick wave of embarrassment. She knew that the he would be watching her, probably would be thinking cynically of her abilities, which made her slip up even more under the pressure of the thought. With each yard and nest they passed Sofie only thought of the mundane repetitiveness, each place smelled like grass and twolegs. Sometimes there was the scent of a cat but it only lingered as long as they traveled the adjacent fence. Occasionally there was the distant sound of yapping from dogs were barked at whatever nonsense they deemed fit but Sofie remained true to her words, the way the trekked had procured no dogs for them to see.
Hence, Sofie resigned to her thoughts for entertainment. She would have spoken up and prodded to learn more of the stranger padding behind her however she thought it might have been a wiser choice to allow him some space. He didn't seem like he wanted casual chatty conversation at this time and Sofie was sure there would be plenty to talk about when they were out of twolegplace and somewhere with a few more trees. If he is able to teach me how to hunt then I'll be able to feed myself! No more kibble for me, she swiped her tongue over her salivating maw at the very thought of a mouse or pigeon. The last time she'd eaten something fresh and delicious of that sort was when Mischief had caught it for her. If I can take care of myself... maybe I won't even need the twolegs... or my housefolk... her heart filled with wondrous emotion, seizing the idea that she could be independent and escape the monotony of her life as it currently was but... I don't know if that's realistic... I've always been a house cat.
The treeline was drawing nearer and nearer. With it came the distinctive scent of trees, prey trails wafted past her nose and she found herself licking her lips again. Through the smells of the forest also can the acrid tang of thunderpath which tainted each cool breeze. Now, Sofie thought it was time to speak. "This is just a small slice of the forest, I assume you don't live here because twolegs often use it for playing." As she finished speaking, she paused at the edge of the final fence. One leap down and the pair would be out of twolegplace and into the wild. "This area isn't very big, I've explored it before. There's only a small bit of forest before you hit the thunderpath over the other side, then there's more walking." The journey was not near over yet. "I'll take you as far as I can go which should be far enough for you to make it the rest of the way." She turned to look at Cedarpelt with vivid green eyes and she offered a small smile, "Maybe around here you can teach me some stalking techniques...?" Her tone piqued with the hint of a question and her eyes watched him with hopeful intent.
[ regarding rping the clans i think that's good! maybe two patrols met at the border and heronclan gave rippleclan the message to meet for the meeting, so they do.
also this aint my best but aye its been a while xD ]
