A E T H E R - 🐾 - P A R I
Here is just a small place for Pari and myself to do an one on one RP. I made it look overly fancy because I was very bored!
So, for plots, we've got Cedarpelt who is a warrior captured by twolegs. Alongside Sofie, who is a kittypet he meets along the way, Cedarpelt is determined to find his way back home. We also have Jackdawstar who is a leader and he find himself smitten with Riverstrike, who is a warrior from a different clan.
Finally, all the characters come from either RippleClan or HeronClan, with the plots occurring in the clans 'real time'.

Events
Riverstrike and Brooksong, when they were performing a routine border patrol, came across Jackdawstar being attacked by a fox. The two HeronClan mollies dived into action and saved the RippleClan leader, which left Jackdawstar feeling thankful for the both of them. The two mollies accompanied Jackdawstar until a RippleClan patrol came across them and escorted Jackdawstar back to camp. However, Jackdawstar found himself thinking of Riverstrike after the attack as she had struck his fancy for her diligence and kindness, and he determined he would speak to her again. Some days later, Jackdawstar had recovered enough from his injuries to venture out of the camp and wander to the border alone. At the same time, Riverstrike aided Heathersong to gather herbs by the river. By chance, Jackdawstar managed to catch Riverstrike's attention and they decided they would meet each other at Flatstones after the Gathering.
At the Gathering there was a commotion when Jumpfox accused HeronClan warriors of over crossing the boundaries. In retaliation, Cedarpelt mocked Jumpfox and Jackdawstar which further enraged Jumpfox. On the brink of a battle, Jackdawstar berates Oakstar for allowing Cedarpelt to continue without any reprimanding. Finally, Jackdawstar steps in and the argument comes to a close. The rest of the Gathering continues without much event and Jackdawstar asks Bramblefang to return with the Clan to camp so that he can go and clear his head. Likewise, Riverstrike excuses herself from returning back to her camp immediately, and the two head (separately) to Flatstones.
As the two enjoy their time together, Cedarpelt watched with rage. Instead of confronting them he decides to report his findings to Oakstar, however, as he travels back to camp in the darkness he is captured by twolegs.
As days pass, Jackdawstar and Riverstrike continue their secret meetings, and Cedarpelt has mysteriously disappeared. This causes rising tensions between the clans as HeronClan cats believe that Jumpfox, the RippleClan warrior, has meddled with their clanmate after their fight at the Gathering.
Much to his dismay, Cedarpelt is stuck within a twoleg cage. He is aggresive to the curious kittypets that approach, including Sofie and Bluebell. While Bluebell turns her nose up and runs away, Sofie is intrigued by the wildcat and she continues to question him - not that he was talkative. Sofie helps Cedarpelt escape on one condition: that he teaches her how to hunt for prey. Sofie is bored with her frivolous life as a kittypet so any sense of freedom she can get she wants to take hold of. So, Sofie helps Cedarpelt from the twoleg cage and starts to lead him towards the forest.
An emergency meeting between HeronClan and RippleClan has been called to discuss the sudden disappearance of Cedarpelt. Knowing that the situation would get tense, Jackdawstar did not invite Jumpfox. However, the disobedient tom follow the clan and went to the gathering regardless. HeronClan is horrified to see the cat that they believed disposed of Cedarpelt. Brooksong and Larkstripe work to calm down their clan as Oakstar tells Jumpfox to make his case about why they should believe he had nothing to do with the disappearance.
As of now (14/12/21) in the RP, Jumpfox has given his plea.

[ looks great! <3 i'll throw a couple of cats in heronclan! maybe one of them could be riverstrike's close friend who eventually becomes suspicious that something is happening between river and jackdaw?
nooooow since we have heronclan and rippleclan, i was thinking the territories could reside near some sort or wetland or some sort of body of water. whatcha think?
and also in regards to how riverstrike and jackdawstar meet, perhaps she can save him? like he gets attacked by a fox and she conveniently comes to help him chase it off. jackdaw is super sweet, so no doubt that'll make him be like 😍 'so strong and pretty and kind' ]

ooooo I like that idea! c: Aw he sounds so good <3 I think it'd be fun to have riverstrike and the friend starting out on a patrol, talking about RippleClan, and then later that night as Riverstrike is out on guard or something, she hears Jackdaw in trouble without knowing it's him. She then goes to save him or something like that.... You know? like they were talking about it and it's like a coincedental thing!
riverstrike is really loyal and serious. she REALLY cares about manners and hierarchy, and she takes clan loyalties really seriously (which will make this fun C:<) and believes in a lot of deference to authority. but her fatal flaw is also her best strength, which is empathy. She's kind of shy but definitely very loving - I think she'd fall head over heels for him in like a bashful way hehe
I was thinking about making a warrior in Rippleclan that sees jackdaw and riverstrike out together when their relationship is formed and then like snitches near the end. Eeeeevil~
I think that's a good idea. I've always seen HeronClan in a marshy area, nearby a pond that's not too far away from a Twoleg place which is perfect for the Sofie x Cedar stuff!
What are your thoughts? C:

Post by aether on Feb 27, 2021 20:55:25 GMT -5
yes! that's a good idea! i think it'll be fun with her being so loyal because even though jackdaw knows he should just forget her, he has very strong feelings - he's an emotion driven dude - so he would definitely try to sweet talk and convince her. but he'd also be conflicted, because y'know, his a leader and has responsibilities. she sounds so cute; i'm very excited for them!
>:3 snitch cat is good. we can cross this bridge when we get there, but i don't know what would happen if they got discovered. i suppose that's the fun of the rp!
so heronclan can be featured more in a marshy area whilst rippleclan can have a river/woodland territory that is at the edges of the marsh. so, ye, with a twolegplace nearby it would give a reason as to why cedar was captured. and sofie is more of a selfless kind of cat who has a good heart but can be snarky and a show off, i think they'll be interesting.
i'll make a friend for river!
so, was there anything else we need to plan? or should we wing it and deal with details as they are needed? xD

i like that - sounds good to me! I think I might try to make Cedar a lot meaner this time around, and really, really haughty, especially with a kittypet. i think it'll be so fun!

RIVERSTRIKE warrior. molly. whistling reeds. aether Brooksong
Mud bubbled beneath Riverstrike's paws as she waded through Whistling Reeds. An afternoon thunderstorm had further moistened the peaty earth that characterized most of HeronClan's territory, and the smell of rain lingered on the humid air. This part of their land, however, had always been particulalrly wet. It was close to the river that marked the border between them and RippledClan and fed by a small tributary that wandered off the main stream. The water's rush could be heard nearby. Because of its proximity to their neighbors, Whistling Reeds was a place of conflict and territory disputes. Therefore, it was often patrolled by both clans' warriors, leading to frequent conflict and argument. Although no one wanted to admit it, HeronClan's ranks were more often than not the instigators of such rows - their pride and loyalty to clan and rank gave them a proclivity toward haughtiness and overprotection. This was compounded by the fact that Whistling Reeds had some of the best hunting in the land, especially in Newleaf, when the marshland creatures emerged from their dens more frequently. Cherished prey, like muskrats and sparrows, would often try and navigate their way out of the marsh in order to to reach the more habitable woodland parts nearby the river bank. Desperate for something other than frogs and rails, HeronClan warriors frequently strayed too far away from their own territory.
Eventually, these tensions came to a head. A small cohort of HeronClan's warriors raised a formal complaint to Oakstar. To them, it wasn't fair that all of the good prey was escaping to RippleClan's territory. There should be more of a compromise. Of course, this was heavily disputed by RippleClan's warriors. After all, how was it their fault that the prey was leaving the marsh? Thanks to the deal Oakstar and Jackdawstar came to at the last Gathering, however, the inimical relationship that had built during the previous season had been dismantled quit a bit. The clans would alternate patrols and hunting groups, trading evenings every other day. Tonight, it was HeronClan's turn. Riverstrike and Brooksong had been assigned the shift.
The blue-grey molly wasn't too keen on politics, however, and patrolling Whistling Reeds always put her on edge. Of course, she was loyal to the HeronClan cause - she agreed that there should be some semblance of fairness between the clans. But the arguing and fighting... it wasn't her style. Being with Brooksong, however, eased her anxieties a bit. The two had been friends since they were kits, and the molly trusted her with her life. Additionally, the sounds of the marsh sang around the warrior molly; the familiar croak of toads and the droning hum of cicadas came together to create a symphony of seasonal delights. Riverstrike drank all of this in - it was home to her. Despite its often rancid and earthy smell, the marshlands of HeronClan put her at ease. A small smile danced across her features as she emerged from the reeds and onto the riverbank nearby. Her tail flicked contentedly as she gazed at the rushing water. "Hopefully, we won't have trouble tonight," she mumbled to her companion, rolling her eyes at the thought of political argument. "I really don't feel like having to fight it out with some RippleClan warriors. Why can't we all just get along, yknow? It's not like any clan is in dire straits or anything." Riverstrike threw a glance to Brooksong as she started toward the river again. Her words betrayed her pacifist nature, always eager to avoid conflict.
[ hopefully this is good. i thought it would be fun to have some ~political conflict~ to make things spicier for jackdaw x river's relationship. let me know if you want me to change anything! c: ]

The air was thick and musty; which was a usual feat after a rain-spell in the wetlands. The lithe tabby and white remained unfazed as her paws sank and squelched in the mud and as her whiskers twitched to ware of buzzing mosquitos. This was home, even when RippleClan warriors would sneer and tease them for eating frogs and having mud-stained paws, Brooksong couldn't think of a place she'd rather live. She rose her chin in anticipation as they neared the river, it's babbling familiar to her ears, and she straightened her shoulders. Recently a HeronClan patrol consisting of Cedarpelt, Birchstep, and Stonepelt had had a spat at the border with a RippleClan patrol; thankfully no claws had been shared. But tensions were running high. It had seemed like the RippleClan warriors didn't agree with their leader when he had conceded to allowing HeronClan to hunt intermittently on the prey-lush land. Brooksong could still recall their irate calls at the gathering while HeronClan cats proudly nodded among themselves; feeling chuffed at the prospect of more prey.
She padded a step behind her friend as they pushed their way through the reeds and came to the riverbank. The small breeze that drifted from it smelled fresher against the peaty tang. Her ears pricked at Riverstrike's words and she let out a purr of amusement, "I hope we won't have trouble either; but you can't really trust those RippleClan cats." Her claws unsheathed and sank into the bogged earth, "We would get along better if they weren't so uptight about giving us some prey. We may not need it now, but when it's leaf-bare we'll be happy we were well-fed." Brooksong wasn't one to dive into a battle without reason but she did have a streak of pride that prevented her from admitting any sort of sympathy for the other clan. Often times when she was rearing for a fight, Riverstrike's calm nature would soothe her, much like when Riverstrike wasn't standing up for herself enough Brooksong would charge into battle to defend her.
The young molly padded up the side of the river until they neared the crossing bridge, which was a fallen log. It's bark had been stripped by age and it's top was covered in claw marks. It had the makings of jutting branches but they were leafless, and frankly, they were annoying to weave around when one needed to cross the bridge. "You know, I heard the other day that-" Her voice stopped suddenly and the she-cat froze. Her pale green eyes widened then narrowed and she whipped her head to stare across the rushing water, "I thought I heard... that!" A fox barked somewhere over the river, although she couldn't see it's distinctive orange form through the undergrowth.
Jackdawstar Alone || @ The River
The chatter around camp had become unbearable. The long-haired black tom felt torn between preventing conflict with HeronClan and preventing the conflict within his own clan. He knew it had been controversial to give HeronClan some of the territory every other day, but what choice did he have? If they didn't settle it with words then Oakstar surely would have with claws. However, that didn't stop the warriors from gossiping like starlings while they shared tongues around the clearing. He could feel their gazes like the sun on his pelt, watching him like he was a traitor, until he found himself glowering under the great rock, where he would usually hold clan meetings. It'll just take some time to adjust, Whiteflower had assured him, we all know it wasn't an easy decision to make. He sure hoped his clan mates saw it the same way, but he'd already had to chastise Jumpfox for starting an argument on the last patrol.
Pushing himself to his paws, Jackdawstar padded towards his deputy who was finishing their plump vole. "Bramblefang, don't worry about sending a patrol towards the river. I'm going to patrol it myself." At the flash of concern in the tabby toms green eyes, Jackdawstar relaxed his shoulders and offered a small smile, "After the spat with the patrol yesterday, I'd like to just go and make sure nothing happens today." Bramblefang hesitated before nodding and he flicked his tail thoughtfully.
"Just make sure you stay out of trouble," Bramblefang spoke with a soft sense of affection for his leader. Despite not totally agreeing with the new territory arrangements, the tom stayed loyal and didn't dispute his leaders words. Jackdawstar felt his heart fill with appreciation and he nodded.
The trudge through the forest served the purpose Jackdawstar hoped it would; his muscles began to relax and his mind eased. The familiar scents of prey trails and various shrubs alongside the feeling of tendrils brushing his pelt and the padded leaf litter underneath his paws were features of the forest that he'd lived in his whole life. Out here, there was no one to eye him angrily, and he was left to his own thoughts. What if I didn't make the right choice? His stomach twisted and he stopped in his tracks. Nearby, the sounds of the river and it's breeze told him he was near the border. Even if I did, I can't go back now... HeronClan will think I can't lead if I go back on my word. The tom was stuck between a rock and a hard place, it seemed. A snap of a twig nearby made the tom stiffen and he whipped his head around, maw ajar to take in the surrounding scents. A familiar tang his him like a wave and his heart skipped with a moment of fear. I've been so careless that I've led a fox right to me! Yellow eyes wide as moons, he glanced to and fro in an attempt to check where the best route of escape would be. There wasn't a chance he could defend himself alone but he didn't want to lead it back to his camp.
A low growl sounded and the foxes triangular face pushed through the ferns, staring with beady amber eyes at him that looked as though they were saying, 'you will make a fine meal'. There was no running. The fox would easily keep pace. There was only one option. "You'd better think twice before you attack me, flea-pelt," Jackdawstar bristled until his pelt almost seemed to double in size and he bared his fangs threateningly. In reply, the fox growled low in it's throat, then barked a sound high-pitch that momentarily hurt Jackdawstar's ears.
It barked again before slithering forward and snapping towards Jackdawstar's muzzle. The black tom reeled backwards and ducked, he darted to the right and ran his claws down the foxes matted side. Ears flat on his head, he jumped backwards to avoid another snap of it's jaws, although it's hot breath was close to his shoulder. However, he was too slow to dodge as it threw out a paw. It landed squarely on the side of his head and Jackdawstar was knocked by the force of it, the pain of it made him lurch back, and his ears began to ring with a high-pitched squeal. Momentarily, he thought he would collapse as black dots speckled his gaze. Come on, don't lose so easy! With a staggered step, he went to swipe at it's nose, and he caught it; however, it only returned more harshly. The fox grasped his scruff and began to shake him roughly. Jackdawstar felt as though he was a rag-doll in an impossible fight, his ears were still ringing and his head felt dizzy with the shock of the blow.
Help! He wanted to call. Instead, he mewled a pitiful sound, his paws waving blindly as he tried to strike a blow anywhere on the fox to loose it's grip.

RIVERSTRIKE HeronClan warrior. molly. River/RippleClan border aether Brooksong
Riverstrike sighed at her friend's words. "I know, I know...." Her words trailed off in indecision. Brooksong was right; RippleClan warriors tended to be stuffy. But she also knew that the brown and white tabby warrior had herself a streak of anger and aggression, especially when it came to clan matters. Riverstrike considered herself a fiercely loyal member of HeronClan, as well, but the situation tugged relentlessly at her heartstrings. Her ears flicked indecisively as she pawed gently at the rushing water. Mud filtered off of her paws, swirling rapidly in the currents' depths. The tumultuous waters reflected the feeling of anxiety that churned within the molly. She had always been uneasy with conflict; it came from a place of concern for her loved ones and friends. Riverstrike settled her gaze on Brooksong as the molly began to inquire, but quickly darted away in the direction of danger.
The blue-pelted molly sprang to her feet as alarm coursed through her veins. Demure Riverstrike melted away. A sudden seriousness washed over her, bristling against the detected threat. She parted her jaws to share a thought, but a yelp cut her off. Her pale blue eyes widened, turning sharply to Brooksong. "It's a cat!" she gasped, starting quickly in the direction of the yowl. Instinct took over control of her body as she lept up onto the crossing bridge. The stripped wood was smooth beneath her paw pads, making the trek across river rather precarious. In a blink, she had landed on the opposite bank, firmly in RippleClan territory. Riverstrike noticed her companion's hesitation, and paused to call to her. "Come on! We have to help!" The molly's voice held a slight growl - she hoped Brooksong wouldn't refuse a rescue just because of political reasons. Some cat was in trouble, and Riverstrike wouldn't sit by and be a witness to bloodshed just because of some silly border dispute.
There it was - the fox's blazing orange pelt flashed before her in the undergrowth. The smell of fear and adrenaline was strong, competing with the acrid scent of the enemy. The fox reeked of danger and mange - it was clearly desperate for a meal, otherwise the attack would not be as vicious as the scene playing before the HeronClan warrior. Before Riverstrike could move into attack, a black form caught her eye. She paused in alarm as realization washed over her. Jackdawstar!? Before she could process, however, the fox's tail swept her paws out from under her as it flailed against its competition. Letting out an angry yowl, Riverstrike lept onto the fox's haunches from behind, sinking her claws into its skin.
The animal released it's grip on the RippleClan leader, sending the tom to the ground. Riverstrike lept back, jockeying with the fox. Her lithe grey form slipped under its belly, making her way to stand in front of Jackdawstar. Before she could land another blow, however, the fox's paw caught her across the face, sending her into a tumble. The hit left her ears ringing. She struggled to get up, once again facing the creature. "Brooksong, get Jackdawstar!" she yowled to her clanmate, desperation ringing in her voice. The fox began to skulk towards her, baring its yellow teeth as a threat, but the determined molly mustered her courage. Riverstrike hissed violently, swiping her claws across the its right eye. The strike sent the fox reeling as it yelped, moving backward into the brush. It's not over yet, dung-eater. Riverstrike advanced, darting quickly to give the fox a strong bit on its leg. It let out another sharp bark, sending the warrior molly back with a wince. As she squared up again, she watched as the fox hesitated, assessing the situation. It let out a low growl, glaring at the cats with its one good eye as it backed away slowly. After a few heartneats, the preadtor seemed to decide against a high-effort meal and disappeared into the undergrowth.
Riverstrike's stance relaxed, her mucles releasing the tension they held. As the adrenaline slowed, pain seeped into the right side of her face, where the fox had given her a good strike. She let out of a heavy breath, and turned back toward her clanmate and the RippleClan leader. "Is everyone okay?" she stammered breathlessly, alarm turning her pale eyes bright. She first went toward her clanmate, fear gripping her heart at the thought of her getting injured.

Brooksong (HeronClan) + Jackdawstar (RippleClan)Riverstrike || parisiansteve The River/The Border
Brooksongs first instinct was not to charge over the fallen log and face the fox. In fact, she was more of the opinion that if you hear a fox you should move away from it. Besides, whoever was on the other side of the river was a RippleClan cat, couldn't their own clan defend them? However, Brooksong was not going to leave her best friend to face a fox by herself, so she ran at Riverstrike's heels. The fallen log was slick with the recent rain but the determination to ensure the safety of her friend gave her the courage she needed to sweep over it without the usual aversion she often had. On the other side the earth was still soft after the rain, but the leaf-litter prevented her paws from sinking; you can't trust a cat whose never trekked through the mud!
She was a stride or two behind Riverstrike as her blue-grey friend dived towards the challenge. The smells of fox caused her nose to crinkle in distaste and she couldn't help thinking again, why are we doing this?! Bursting through the ferns to come upon the scene, her eyes widened at the sight. The mangy foxes eyes were cruel, its hips jutted awkward from its matted coat, and it was tossing its head back and forth. In its jaws was its prey, a black form that pawed as pitifully in the air as a newborn kit pawed at it's mothers belly. At that moment, the critical thoughts left her mind, replaced with compassion. She could see the form was Jackdawstar and from the sounds and scents, he was alone. Without the help of herself and Riverstrike he would be fox-food. With a ferocious roar, Brooksong flung herself into battle after Riverstrike, taking on the foxes opposite side. She sank her teeth into it's rear leg and clawed with mud-stained paws up its back. The sudden attack jolted the fox, and Jackdawstar slumped from it's jaws.
She hesitated at Riverstrike's command. Her eyes were blazing with the challenge of a battle and for a moment she looked as though she would deny. Yet, as her green eyes flickered to the leaders form, she knew that he needed help. Brooksong streaked forward and grasped at Jackdawstar's blood-soaked scruff so she could tug him back away from the fight. The metallic taste caught in her throat and she fought back the feeling of revulsion. Instead, she began lapping as his wounds. It was well-known that a fox bite was quick to turn sour.
Jackdawstar seized with pain. His mind still spun with remnants from the swipe, but now also from being shaken in the air. The whole time he felt as though his lungs had become tight, the foxes jaws too tight and hot over his chest for him to take a satisfying breath. Now, as he laid splayed on the earth he took reviving gasps and let himself fall completely limp. A soothing tongue stroked over his scruff and back. Had his clanmates come to save him? He could still hear the sounds of scuffling and growling but it was quieter now, until the scuffling was replaced by footsteps pattering away. The fox is gone. The black tom slowly blinked open his eyes, after having some time to breath and rest his head, his mind was clearing. What he saw was certainly not what he expected. He caught sight of Riverstrike - a cat he was a familiar with. Her flanks heaved with breathlessness and there was a scratch that oozed on her cheek. She saved me. He stared wondrously. She said something, though he was too busy admiring her form to notice.
"I think he'll be okay, he's just shaken." The sound above his head came from another voice. It sounded plainly, with a hint of sympathy. Jackdawstar grunted with effort as he turned his head up to look at another familiar figure, Brooksong.
Why did they save me? The tom started to struggled to his feet, wincing when a sharp pain ran down his spine. The fox surely did some damage when it had tossed him about, but he couldn't express such weakness. He wasn't one for being prideful, however, he couldn't let HeronClan warriors know that the RippleClan leader was weak. Not when tensions were already running high. "T-thank you..." his voice was tight and strained, and as he reached his paws he felt himself sway. "I don't know what would have happened... if you two hadn't helped..." he looked to the earth. The end of the sentence was not needed.
He looked up again, turning his gaze to Brooksong who eyed him curious pity, then he looked to Riverstrike. Once again his eyes flicked to her cheek and he frowned, "You're injured." He croaked, "I'm sorry to cause such a scene, I appreciate the help," he stumbled forward a few steps towards her and winced at the shock of pain the rippled over his back. "But if you've been injured you should go and get it looked at," from the tenderness in his tone one could think he was more concerned for her then he was for himself.
Brooksong rolled her eyes, "She's just got a scratch. You can hardly walk!" Her ears twitched before she glanced to Riverstrike, "What should we do now?" There was a flatness to her tone that said 'you're the one who wanted to save him, not me'.

RIVERSTRIKE HeronClan warrior. molly. the border aether Brooksong + Jackdawstar
Pain seared through the Riverstrike's face. She could feel the wetness of blood sinking into her fur, sticky as the marshland air. Her pale blue eyes glowed with gratitude toward Brooksong. Relief swept through her as she observed that the molly was uninjured. Padding closer, the blue-grey warrior tapped her friend's shoulder affectionately. She then turned her soft gaze to Jackdawstar, immediately ducking her head in bashful deference. "We, uh, we just got lucky... it was our turn to patrol the border," she meowed lightly, careful to keep her tone respectful. Compassion overwhelmed her other emotions as she gazed at the injured tom. His black fur was matted with blood in several spots, most notably his scruff, where the villainous creature had torn his skin. He struggled against his pain. It was a rather pitiful site to see, but Riverstrike maintained an heir of submissiveness. Jackdawstar was trying his hardest to remain strong; what else could a leader do? Of course Riverstrike would have done the same, had she been in his position. The political turmoil no doubt made it worse.
As her eyes lingered on Jackdawstar's form, she was struck by his stature. Even in his mangled state, the leader still held a commanding position. The words that she prepared flew straight from her mind, like small starlings fleeing the reeds after a small wind. The warrior averted her gaze as something stirred within her. Heat built beneath her fur in a blush, her tail swishing uncomfortably behind her. The gentle tone of his voice, his concern for her in spite of himself - she didn't know many toms who had the courage to thank two mollies from an opposing clan. Riverstrike was used to the haughty overconfidence of her clanmates, especially as of late. Toms like Cedarpelt and Ottercoat, who took pride in their arrogance, were the type she was used to spending time around. Of course, she had always admired Jackdawstar from afar during Gatherings, but never in this intimate of a way.
The RippleClan leader's apology interrupting her musings. Her ears turned backwards as she began to shake her head, brow furrowing. "Oh, it's nothing, I-" Her voice had held a bit of a chuckle as it prepared to move to humility, but her friend cut her off. Riverstrike shot a disapproving glare at her clanmate, almost motherly, as if Brooksong was talking out of turn. This was a leader they had just saved from a fox attack! The least the tabby warrior could do was show some respect. Embarrasing Jackdawstar for his chivalry woudl surely win them no points for their clan or for them. Riverstrike's pale blue eyes blazed with fierce annoyance, lingering in contact with Brooksong's as she inquired about their next steps. She detected the flatness in her clanmate's voice, feeling the accusatory tone like sunlight on her pelt. The HeronClan warrior raised her head and got to her feet, shaking her pelt a bit. Her pale blue eyes settled onto Jackdawstar's striking, yello gaze. The heat returned to her fur, but she pushed it away. Her voice softened with that same docility. "Do you think you're well enough to make it back to your camp? Without help? I would hate to intrude and set off some of your ranks." Riverstrike glanced quickly at Brooksong to see her reaction, awaiting the tom's reply.

Oh, also I was thinking...
Riverstrike and Brooksong can return to camp after this, and see Cedarpelt on his way out for a night shift. That way we can start the plot between him and Sofie. He can maybe be captured in the night, when humans might take pity on him?
And then for Riverstrike and Jackdawstar's next encounter, what do you think about River going on a herb hunting task with Heathersong (Heronclan medicine cat) and seeing Jackdawstar again? I just don't know how to get them alone... what are your thoughts? Maybe there can be a gathering soon or something?
And the cat I'm going to add to RippleClan I think will be Shadethorn - a tall, skinny tom with a dull brown pelt with yellow eyes

[ omg i love riverstrike so much already xD
that sounds good! and i was thinking that sofie would be his neighbour, who is curious to meet the strange cat who arrived next door. only to be pleasantly surprised by all of... cedarpelt.
oh yeah! sounds good. i think it would be easy to get jackdawstar alone because no doubt he is going to go back to camp and be all dreamy so he decides to try and find her again. for riverstrike... perhaps they catch each other on opposite sides of the river. jackdawstar is still recovering from his injuries but he calls out to her being all like, 'i just want to make sure you were okay after everything that happened' but obviously he is just making excuses to talk to her. they could arrange to meet another time, secretly? and a gathering would be good, especially if it causes more tensions that puts a further strain on the prospect of a forbidden romance.
oooooh shadethorn. i'll add him!
also i won't be able to start on my reply for a bit - i imagine it's getting late where you are? ]

[ <3
that would be fun, i love that idea C:
that sounds good! he seems like such the little romantic, how cheeky and fun! they could do that across the river bit the afternoon before the gathering, and then arrange to see each other after it. I was thinking that maybe Cedarpelt would go missing after the Gathering now, actually, because I kind of want him and Stoneleap to start some beef with RippleClan about the border again - like how Riverstrike got hurt because their leader couldn't take care of himself blah blah all that... yknow? This would make their secret, post-gathering meet up all the spicier c:< let me know your thoughts!
Not a problem at all, friend. I am headed to bed here in a bit, but post whenever you're ready and I can reply tomorrow! I hope your first day went alright ^^

Brooksong (HeronClan) + Jackdawstar (RippleClan)Riverstrike || parisiansteve The River/The Border
It was lucky indeed. Despite the pain that throbbed in his head and back, he couldn't help the appreciation that swelled in his chest like a flower blooming. The blue-gray molly seemed to be much more friendly then Brooksong, who was staring with boredom. He knew Brooksong from border patrols and gatherings, she seemed like a fine and loyal warrior, so he couldn't fault her for her defensiveness and tone. Still, he found himself pulled nearer to Riverstrike like a magnet, her thoughtful blue eyes seemed more compassionate and her stance much more friendly. She sat with esteemed beauty that he hadn't seen in anyone in his own clan - or rather - her particular beauty struck him unlike anyone else. It made his stomach giddy and eased his mind from the thoughts of sharp pain.
Brooksong's flat voice seemed to push through the gentle cloud he'd just been sat upon. The pain stabbed through his back again and he winced before glancing to the tabby and white she-cat. They held each others gaze for a moment. Brooksong lifted her chin stubbornly, her eyes defensive and protective. She's just worried to be stuck in RippleClan territory... Jackdawstar mused, they may have saved me but it doesn't have to make her friendly. "I, uh, I think I'll be okay. I don't want to cause more trouble," He did not wish to bring anymore hassle to the pair of HeronClan cats who he already owed his life too. But when he shifted on his paws he felt his chest tighten with the pain of the movement.
Brooksong pawed absently at the ground, her green eyes were narrowed - akin to a glare - and she bit back a sigh at the leaders feeble attempt to assure him he was okay. What was she supposed to do when her best friend and the opposing clan's leader seemed to be staring dreamily at each other? It wasn't like they'd never met before, so why was Riverstrike behaving like an apprentice now? Jackdawstar was also looking at Riverstrike as if she'd descended from StarClan specifically to save him from the fox attack. She rose her to paws and looked back to Riverstrike. Initially, she seemed disrupted, but Riverstrike's glare softened her gaze. It was a defining part of their relationship for Riverstrike to reel Brooksong back in when her temper got the best of her. She opened her maw, "What if we help you back most of the way? That fox might still be lurking around." Her voice wasn't necessarily concerned, however, it didn't seem like she planned on taking 'no' for an answer.
Jackdawstar hesitated a moment. He couldn't deny Brooksong's logic - the fox was still likely to be around if it knew he was injured. Also... he glanced back to Riverstrike and felt warm, as though he had stepped into a comforting patch of morning sun. "You're right," he flicked his whiskers in an attempt to be easy-going. "I appreciate your kindness, both of you." A dip of his head turned out to be a painful decision and he hissed quietly through clenched teeth as he lifted it again.
Brooksong started ahead of him, pushing her way through the ferns and only stopping to glance back to ensure the others were following. Jackdawstar started after her much slower. Each step was tense as pain tingled over his back and sides, each movement was a heaving effort; even more so as he tried to hide that fact. Of course I happened to be so far when I got injured, he gritted his teeth and sneaked another glance at Riverstrike. I guess I wouldn't have been saved if I was closer to the camp, his yellow eyes glimmered warmly at the thought and he looked back ahead with newfound determination to get home safely.
[ It will be nice to have a happy ending for him, and River of course. x3
I'm studying computer science! Yeah... I've been keeping up with the news in the US and it doesn't seem good regarding the 'rona. The numbers are slowly getting better though! I think sometimes it feels like it'll never end, but it won't stay this way forever. The only reason Australia doesn't have the problem is because we aren't connected to anyone otherwise I guarantee we'd be in the same position. I'm glad you did get to relax a bit though. I think sometimes just taking a few days off even when there are things you should be doing just helps you feel a bit more revived to jump back into it. What are you studying? ]

RIVERSTRIKE HeronClan warrior. molly. the border aether Brooksong + Jackdawstar
A pang of sympathy ran through Riverstrike as she watched the RippleClan leader struggle against his pain. The poor thing.... she thought silently to herself, ears flicking backward with concern. Her pale blue eyes brimmed with selfless sorrow as she gazed upon the tom. She felt foolish for her earlier question - it was evident that Jackdawstar was in no shape to haul his injured form back to RippleClan's camp alone. Still, anxiety coursed strongly though her veins. The two clans were at odds. The thought of a pair of rival warriors escorting a leader back to his home after saving him from a fox attack made the molly quiver with apprehension. Of course, she wanted no trouble from the fierce warriors that formed RippleClan's ranks. What she was more fearful of, however, was the defense she'd have to give to Oakstar and Larkstripe when her and Brooksong returned to HeronClan. Oakstar - though a venerable leader who garnered respect with grace and determination - was rather prideful herself. The authoritarian molly would not doubt run with this as evidence of RippleClan's incompetence at the upcoming Gathering. The border dispute would intensify, tensions would rise, and both clans would inevitable descend into the chaotic relations that had characterized the earlier Newleaf season.
Riverstrike found herself suddenly regretting her rash decision to help the rival leader. The affection she felt for Jackdawstar now competed with the loyalty she felt to clan and kin. Mous-brained fool.... She quickly admonished herself inwardly for acting so rashly, but pushed the feeling down. Brooksong's voice signalled a change of thought for the blue-grey warrior. Her ears perked at her friend's suggestion and she cocked her head slightly in a questioning manner. This was a surprising turn of events for the usually-ornery and hostile warrior, and Riverstrike seemed struck by her act of care - no matter how strained it may have been. Suspicion glinted in her light blue gaze as she regarded her companion. Now was not the time to start a row, and she feared that Brooksong might be yearning for a fight. Despite recent flurries of anger being the fault of HeronClan warriors, taunting shamelessly at the border, many of them still felt a protectiveness of their pride. The blue warrior would be lying if she said she didn't feel it, too, on occassion. But she was hoping that her clanmate wasn't intending on starting anything in RippleClan territory - much less near their camp. Nonetheless, she went along, flicking her tail anxiously behind her as she followed the group.
"It's not a problem," Riverstrike replied to the RippleClan leader with a soft voice, characterized by its usualy dociility and gentleness. She followed after Jackdawstar to cover his rear, in case the fox attempted a sneak attack from the thick undergrowth around them. Despite her calm tone and smiling dispotion, anxiety still gnawed at her heart. They were deep into RippleClan territory now, and the weight of the political situation felt heavy on her shoulders. Her pale blue eyes darted back and forth, her muscles tensed at the ready. She didn't like the idea of Jackdawstar being embarrassed in front of his clan. This came, mostly, from a place of empathy - what cat would want to be seen as weak, especially a leader in the midst of a border conflict? - but also from a place of protectiveness. She knew this could potentially fan the flames of discontent on both sides, and she couldn't help but feel as if she was a part of it somehow. So much for avoiding politics... Riverstrike attempted to shake off her characteristic worries, and replace them with a jovial, diplomatic nature. She made an effort to brighten her features and relax.
Although she was a marshland cat by birth, she couldn't help but feel struck by the beauty of RippleClan's territory in Newleaf. The woodland area lit up with birdsong and filtered sunlight, falling gently upon the harder landscape. The air was crisper, busrting with the scent of life and lush greenery - much different from the earthy, wet smell of HeronClan's land. It felt odd to be among so many trees, to feel their stature and presence towering above her head. Riverstrike felt a brief respite from her worry as she drank in the atmosphere around her. The scent of RippleClan warriors, however, interrupted her admiration - they were nearing camp, which ushered her anxiety back in. "Are you sure you don't want us to drop you off a little ways away from the entrance? I feel like Brooksong and I won't necessarily be received well, and I just don't know if we need any more conflict." Her careful words revealed her desperation to avoid increasing the taught political atmosphere. It was clear that the molly was not a confrontational warrior, unlike some of her clanmates. But what her words also betrayed was a sympathy for Jackdawstar's position. Riverstrike was intent on ensuring that he felt comfortable, and she was concerned about not only his physcial injuries, but perhaps some potential injuries to his ego as well. Having been surrounded by so many prideful toms her whole life. she was sure this would be a worry of his, even if he did seem so intriguingly different from them.
[ Oh that's so cool! Computer science is such an interesting field. I know very little about it, but I know for sure that it's no easy task. Good for you! Is there anything specific you want to do after graduation?
Yeah, it's a problem for sure. Didn't help that we had some incompetent leadership for four years, but you're right. It's slowly getting better!
I definitely agree! It's nice to takre a few days here and there c: I'm studying history, specifically Polish-Soviet-U.S. relations following the Second World War and into the Cold War! I'm currently writing as honors thesis, so it's a big undertaking and lots o' work, but it'll get done eventually.... right? '^^ ]
