(just copied and pasted from the other page haha)
Protect the Princess Muse A is a Princess and is travelling to a neighbouring kingdom to marry and secure ties between the two kingdoms. Although it is her duty, it is something that they regret. Muse B is a guard for the royals, and is in the party that is escorting Muse A to the neighbouring kingdom. A long tension has seized the two super power kingdoms and any small issue could cause an all-out war. All seems to be going well until... they are ambushed by bandits. The guards are slaughtered, except Muse B is able to escape with Muse A. But now they are faced with another problem - the two of them, with little supplies, must fend for themselves on their expedition with a group of bandits still on the hunt for the princess. Unbeknownst to them, a dark force wants to capture the princess in order to cause chaos in the world. Neither meant for it to happen, but it suddenly did. Emotions. Muse A is now faced with a decision: go marry someone they don't want, when their heart yearns for another. Or shame their family, their name, and maybe cause a war.
Muse A:Name - Description.Muse B Name - Description.

Winging it is always fun tbh Cx (also yay! i finished a super annoying essay that has been on my tail, so i should be able to post more frequently)
Renn
"Ye Gods, the winter chill seems to be biting early this season." It was mid autumn but Kiel, a black-haired, green eyed lad, was already pulling his cloak tighter over his shoulders. Renn grinned, one so broad that it caused his nose to crinkle. "Aren't you excited, my friend? To be on this journey for another three weeks?" Renn gestured ahead of him, where the princess was tucked away safely in her carriage, "Well, it's three weeks until the we leave the Princess in Janatar, but then another four weeks until we return home." By that time, they'd be racing against winter in order to return to the safety of their castle. They were already a week into their journey and while the King had been cautioned to wait until spring before sending the Princess and her guard escort to Janatar, the King had been insistent that the wedding take place as soon as possible. Beside him, Kiel deflated and sighed, "Don't remind me," he mumbled. The guard escort consisted of twenty guards, five servants, two handmaids, and the Princess. The King decided a smaller escort would - hopefully - prevent much attention on the goods that the they were delivering to Janatar. Whilst there was truth to it, the lack of men unnerved Renn. The young man - in his early twenties - took up the rear of the guard with Kiel, a life-long friend in the war band. Renn surveyed the surroundings, they were walking along a well-worn dusty path, with pebbles and rocks that caused the carriage ahead of them to jump and clatter noisily ahead. There was about a two meter distance from the path to the dense woods on their left and on their right a river was their guide - lapping at the pebbled banks and moving swiftly in the direction they walked. The sun was moving behind them casting their shadows exactly straight ahead of them - a sign that it would soon be time to stop and set up camp. At the head of the guard was Thomlin, a man in his thirties with salt-and-pepper black hair and crystal blue eyes. His hardened, battle-scarred face was evidence enough of his skill in battle. It was another thirty minutes before he called for the guard to camp.
Yet, as soon as his deep voice had rung through the air, it was only thirty seconds for the attack.
As the men were half-off dismounting their horses, a blood-curdling war cry split through the air. Renn stumbled off his horse, shaking his foot free from the foot strap, and turned his head to the woods were a horde or bandits were racing forward - swords unsheathed.
"Bandits! Protect the Princess!"
The bandits were parallel with the escort as they charged into battle, it was mere seconds before the sounds of war cries, slapping swords, and servant shrieks were flooding the path. Renn drew his sword just in time to parry an attack from a red-haired bandit. He stepped forward with a counter-attack, swinging quickly to strike the bandits side. Barely, the bandit dodged backwards and sent a strike back which Renn side-stepped just in time to avoid having his right arm sliced - but the sword contacted his chainmail, and sent a wave of shock down to his fingertips. Crying out in unadulterated hatred, Renn swung and knocked the bandit down to the ground. His vision was red with battle as he delivered a final blow, and he hardly heard himself as a victory cry erupted from his throat. It hardly sounded more than a second before a hard shove knocked him forward a few paces and he scrambled to regain his footing. Kiel was the force of the blow, he was hardly recognizable with crimson stains over his face and chainmail, it was hard to distinguish if it was Kiel's injuries or a bandits that caused the miscolour. Glowering above Kiel was a round-faced bandit, staring battle-hungry at Kiel. Kiel weakly held up his sword but was no match. A swift blow ended him before Renn had time to move. A scream sounded in Renn's throat.
"The Princess!"
The bandits ripped open the door to the carriage and Renn cursed. His mourning would have to wait. He beelined to the carriage, dodging past some swinging bandits, and just as a dusty man reached his arm into the doorway, Renn charged into his side and knocked him to the ground. He was quick to finish the bandit and spin around. He was faced with another bandit who immediately swung down and Renn jumped back, not before the blade cut over his cheek though. He felt the warmth of blood on his face and dodged back again as another bandit joined the first, he raised his sword to parry attacks but was no match for the pair. His sword was knocked from his hands, and a swing collided with his side. He cried out in pain. In the heat of battle, seconds seem to stretch for minutes. Swings appear in slow motion, and the battle sounds are mute against the ringing in ones ears. It was a disorienting dance, one that Renn was skilled at but yet to master. Another swing from the bandits saw his leg bloodied before Thomlin darted in front of him protectively. Thomlin looked from Renn then to the carriage. The message was clear.
Leaving Thomlin to challenge the two, Renn darted forward - adrenaline hiding his pain - to the carriage. "Princess!" He shouted, "Come with me!" They would need to run - anywhere - until the guards had defeated the bandits. His doe brown eyes were wide and panicked as he glanced around, slowly realizing there were more bandits than guards standing.

(Hope you don't mind, I mimicked your layout for your post )
Sesena
The ride had felt so long, being stuck inside the small carriage what felt like all day, there wasn't much entertainment inside either . She'd had her books and those lasted a bit, but she'd finished them quickly. She'd read them already. Letting out a soft sigh Sesena propped her elbow up on the edge of the window, peeking out through the little bit that was allowed. "M'lady forgive me but is it wise to be looking out the window?" One of her girl's asked softly from across the small compartment. Letting out another sigh the princess plopped back into the seat.
"No Laena it isn't the best of ideas but I'm afraid if I don't at least peek I'll want to jump out altogether." Sesena said crossing her arms over her chest "How long did they say we would be traveling for?" She turned to the other handmaid, a pretty blonde girl with freckles for days and bright blue eyes with who she was not as familiar with.
What was her name? Kiren? Kyrin?
"I believe it was four weeks in total princess." She said, "I brought a game I played as a child.. though I cannot say if you would enjoy it."
Regardless the three played the game with the string wrapped around the young woman's fingers. Passing the time as the sound of running water hinted they were by a river or stream. She couldn't tell. So once again she peeked out to see, and it was beautiful. The way the setting sunlight reflected off the water, making the colors of the sky dance in its depths. But it was not the sound of the water that had startled her but the screech the soon followed the voice of Thomlin, she knew that voice well, a trusted friend of her fathers.
She nearly fell back as she moved to get away from the windows. This wasn't supposed to happen. Her father had made their numbers smaller to they would go unnoticed, they'd even opted for the less extravagant transportation so that no one would know. But it seemed they were wrong. Fear set into her eyes as she turned to her handmaids who looked just as scared as she did. Her blood ran cold as she could hear the blades clashing and sounds she did not wish to think about what could be. The blonde had started to scream as something hit the side of the carriage, Sesena quickly covered her mouth hushing her. Staying quiet for now was their best bet. Father had never let her train with a sword in was improper. Well, right now improper would come in hand if someone opened those doors.
It was then that the doors did just that and for a moment she froze eyes wide and locked on who it was. It didn't take long for her to recognize the man's attire. She pushed her handmaid forward and out the door before following herself taking a hold of his hand to help move faster. Once out her eyes only grew wider, it was a nightmare. But, now was not the time to dwell on anything she just followed him. Until that was her handmaid fell, her head turned as she was continuously pulled away before the girl's scream was abruptly cut off by the blade of a dark-haired bandit. The pools of green filled quickly with tears as they raced off to find somewhere safe to hide. Though she wanted nothing more than to go back and help the other still locked in the carriage. In the game they'd been playing it was her turn, so in her free hand she held on tightly to the brightly colored string and she did everything she could to focus on getting away.

Haha all good! I'm pretty sure I copied it from someone else anyways lol
Renn
Relief was evident on the young mans face when the carriage door opened to reveal three safe women. Regretfully, he hadn't a moment to spare. As the first maidservant tumbled out of the tight entryway, he gripped her shoulders firmly and straightened them as she stumbled. He turned back to the carriage but the Princess was a step ahead, already out and moving. As she gripped his hand, Renn moved - racing with long, impatient strides through the throng of battle. Unfortunately, the Princess stuck out like a sore thumb in all her elegant dress and as they ran they merely drew attention. Too focused on his next move, Renn didn't even notice as the handmaid was lost to the war.
If we run into the woods they'll only chase us. If we stay in the open we'll be easy targets. Brows furrowing, Renn could only see one logical means for escape. His heart was heavy as the victorious cries of unfamiliar voices sounded - the bandits had defeated the guards. We must hurry... it's not like there will be anyone to go back to later.
Footsteps began pounding behind them as bandits gave chase. Despite his injuries, it only made Renn push faster, his hand still firmly clasping the Princesses - perhaps squeezing too tightly. "Forgive me, Princess!" His pathing would now have been obvious: he was heading for the river.
As his feet moved over pebbles he turned back to face the Princess. On his left cheek, it glistened with scarlet, and on his forehead was a pool of sweat and dust that made his dark hair stick to his skin like glue. He looked rugged, not only from war, but from days of travel. "Do not let me go." His voice was authoritative - mere minutes ago he never would have dreamed of talking to the Princess in such a manner. The shouts of bandits approached and Renn could see them, racing with swords raised, bounding as quickly as they could towards their desired prey. Renn reached forward with his arm and wrapped it securely around the Princesses shoulders, before he flung both himself and her into the swirling river depths. The water had an icy bite that instantly sunk its teeth into his wounded leg, he clamped his jaw firmly to prevent a gasp of pain, and instead focused on swimming upwards to break the surface of the water. As he did, he searched frantically with his eyes to ensure the Princess was okay.

(LOL I feel that XD)
Sesena
The woman was struggling to keep up with him, she'd never run like this in her life. She'd lived a very sheltered life, releculantly, but it was the life she was given. Sesena knew plenty would have killed to have her life, this was obvious since they were being robbed? Hunted? She didn't know. Not that it mattered right now anyway. Her heart was pounding in her ears, fear coursed through her body, the only thing keeping her moving was the guard and the will to live through this. If she could have closed her eyes she would have, but that wouldn't have ended very well. Instead she looked at him, he had blood everywhere, it was hard to tell what was his own and what was someone else's blood. How was he just pushing through that pain? It didn't make sense, she stabbed herself with a needle and had to stop for a bit it hurt so much.
Forgive him? Why would she need to forgive him? The sound of water had grown louder, they were headed right toward the river.
Oh no
"What do you mean d-" Her words were cut as her feet left solid ground.
Before she was able to protest anything they were hurled into the water and desperately she fought to reach the surface. She broke through the water shortly after he had and she gasped a bit as she came up for air. Lucky for them both she knew how to swim decently. Though the fabric of her dress made her heavier and made it hard to keep herself up. Sesena wasn't far from him so she let the water carry her too him if she needed help staying up. Her honey brown hair was now darker and clung to her shoulders as the two made their way to the other shore. Her dress had ended up tearing as she swam, getting caught on something and just ripping clear up the side. Once she could feel the ground again she stood panting as she did the dress was becoming more of a hinderance than anything at this point. Now that she was getting out of the water it was dead weight on her body. The princess turned to look at Renn, the still nameless guard and then back at the other bank of the river. They'd gone down river quite a bit so everything was rather distant now.
But that didn't mean it was out of sight, the sound of metal clashing together still rang in her ears. Just barely over the sound of the river. "What is going on! Who are those men!" She demanded, out of breath and pulling at her ruined dress trying get it out of her way.

xD oh btw i wanted to ask, what timezone are you in? you always post at the perfect time for me, right when i'm ready to settle down and chill out after a long day of stuff Cx
RENN
The swirl around him tugged and pulled. His chain mail weighed on him, pulled on him, begged him to sink into the black, untouched depths of the river. The very thing supposed to keep him safe now was the biggest danger as he fought against the weight to keep himself afloat. Gasping through mouthfuls of water, he kept one of his eyes closed as he watched the Princess bob up and down in the depths, but he was helpless to do much more than let the tides push them. Luckily, the river moved them faster than their running ever would have. A few times he caught her, was able to lift her, then he was pushed aside by the water as it encapsulated her and moved her out of reach. Frustration, pain, sorrow surged through him like an arrow and he was a puppet - being used by the water just as much as he was a pawn of the sword. Soon, his feet scraped along the pebbled underbelly of the water and he felt weak with relief. As he grounded himself and moved to the edge, he panted, and pulled the chain mail from his body. It landed heavily into the water as he let it go and that was where it stayed as he stepped onto dry land.
His white linen shirt - stained with circular rust marks from his armor - clung to him. A cut into the fabric of his leggings gave light to a gash on his leg - although unsightly, it was not deep enough to be life threatening. Renn shook his head and his hair, which looked black as it was damp, sprayed flecks of water in all directions. He turned his eyes to the Princess momentarily before quickly turning them away. Would he be allowed to look at her the way she was? All sodden, dress torn, yet so high above his rank? She wouldn't even have an inkling of who he was other than a guard who was sworn to protect her.
Her words mimicked his own thoughts and Renn hesitated briefly: he had two choices. He could lie in an effort to sooth her nerves, or be truthful. Or... a perfect inbetween.
Still not looking at her, only looking ahead with stiff-straight shoulders, Renn spoke, "M'lady, I've heard whispers of increased bandit attacks before we left the castle-" this was part of the lie as he'd not heard any changes in bandit activity "-my assumption is the rotten fellows simply found themselves lucky in having come upon a kings escort." This was the truth, he could imagine the bandits were rummaging through the carriage now. Trying to sound lighthearted, he added, "Naught to fear. We'll go to the nearest town and send back to the King for reinforcements." He didn't speak the words but it was obvious: the next town was a day by horse, and then to send to the king would take a week, then another week for the king to send back. They were certainly in a strife.
"We'd best be moving, I'm sure they won't jump into the river after us but I do not want to be in the open like a deer." Renn stepped forward and hissed in pain as he recognized the injury on his leg. A day by horse, two by foot, how many with an injury? He limped forward and realized his side was aching, too. And his arm... At least I'm alive. Renn swallowed hard and finally looked to the Princess, but his eyes did not meet hers, "Are you okay to walk?"

(I'm on the West coast in the US so right now its like 3 am? LOL I'm up all hours XD What about you?)
Sesena
Sesena had started pulling at her dress, trying to get the thing to be a little easier to work with soaked now. Since it was ruined anyway she started to tear off the top layer, just at the bottom. She listened as he explained what he thought had happened and she let out a sigh. "I told him a small number would be asinine. But that man never listens." The princess lifted her skirt holding the under layers the were lighter, her pale green dress was now dark and the white underskirts were far sheerer than they had been dry and had dirt all over them. Her hair clung to her now exposed shoulders and any rouge or lip stain was washed off in the water. She looked a mess and felt like the world was ending but at least she was alive for now. She could only hope what he said was true. That this was not planned and in fact just an unlucky turn of events.
Her eyes turned to him finally her hands on her hips, "I'm fine, I was stuck in the carriage." Her gaze drifted over him, "You on the other hand are not." She took the piece of her dress she'd torn off and held it out to him. "Here. It's worthless as a dress now but at least it can help the bleeding." Sesena tilted her head a bit, he had yet to actually look at her. "And now is hardly the time for formalities. If not for you I'd no longer have my title and possibly have lost my head as well. So.." The girl cleared her throat and nodded.
Once he'd taken the fabric she started walking, not really knowing where to go, but anywhere was better than here where she could still hear the sounds of the fight dying down into the distance. "Well let's get going sir guard," Sesena said not waiting for him, yes he was hurt but she figured it better for him to be able to walk to a hiding place rather than run to one if they waited.
Now in the forest, the shade caused a chill to set in, but it was warmer than the actual water had been. "Since you have rescued me and injured yourself and I'm sure lost friends on my behalf, pray tell what is your name? I would very much like to know who I'll be walking with and hopefully surviving with for the next few weeks." Sesena looked at him, slowing down a bit so she wasn't so far ahead, realizing that wasn't the best idea to be so far from him.

Oh lol xD my dude you need sleep. i'm on the east coast of australia, so it's like 12am for me.
RENN
Renn hesitated before accepting the sash of fabric from the Princess' palm, he nodded respectfully and stared at the damp momentarily piece of cloth before he knelt down and tied it around the gash on his leg. Her next statement turned his cheeks a warm rosy hue, "I am just doing my duty, M'lady. I'd give my life if I had to." He allowed himself a glance up at her. As usual for the young guard, his brown eyes were serious, and he didn't give himself time to study her face. She was the Princess: a natural born beauty, sopping and half-drowned or no. She allowed him no formalities, but it was so ingrained into Renn's being that he wasn't sure he'd be able to treat her informally. Yet, it was her request, so he made a note to try his best. He stood back up and straightened, giving a small nod of encouragement to himself. Okay, Renn, no time for weakness. Let's get the Princess to Janatar safely. He limped quickly in an attempt to catch up, but Sesena was always a few paces ahead. Occasionally, a pained grunt or whiff of air escaped him but he continued without a word. He was so focused on walking through the pain that when the Princess spoke it took him a moment to register her words. He was surprised - although further consideration made him understand. Truthfully, it would likely ease her nerves to know she wasn't alone with some stranger. He knew her well enough as a Princess but she hadn't an inkling of who he was. "My name is Renn, Your Highness. I did lose many comrades, but I will mourn for them when the time is right." His voice was somewhat strained and as she slowed her pace, he silently thanked the Gods. After a few moments he piped up again, "There is a town not to far from us, I'd say there would be a farm nearby too. If we can borrow a horse we will be much better for it." He rose his hand to rub absently at his chin. Would it be wise to disclose the identity of the Princess to a farmer in order to get a horse? If the bandits knew the Princess had passed through they would probably follow the trail. On top of that, would a farmer try to take advantage or a Princess and a lone, injured guard?
Renn turned his gaze to Sesena, he was still a pace behind so could only see her back and hair-strewn shoulders. She would need new clothes too, and if they expected to travel on horseback she would need something easy to ride in. Usually ladies would ride side-saddle but he was aware how uncomfortable that was for extended periods. At the end of his thought, he felt an uncomfortable grumble in his stomach. Food was an issue, too. He sighed softly.
"We only have an hour or two left of daylight, so we'll go as far as we can. I'd prefer to not spend the night in the cold and damp of the forest." Given the icy breeze that moved at his words, Renn thought that the world was playing a cruel prank. Yet, as he squinted ahead, he saw something promising through the leaves and branches: a field. Fields were often accompanied by cattle or wheat, which usually came in-hand with a farmer to tend them. Perhaps luck was on their side after all. He pushed himself to step ahead of the Princess and watched ahead warily as the moved.

(What is sleep I don't know her XD LOL Australia that is cool, better than here I'm sure XD) (Also! Sorry it is short > . <)
Sesena
When he'd finally made the briefest of eye contact with her she locked on to the deep pools of brown. Serious and firm, as she would have expected from a guard in his position. "Yes I suppose now is not the time for mourning, but rather that we made it out safety thanks to their sacrifice." Sesena spoke softly, She had always hated that part of being royal, people putting their lives on the line for you and many giving their lives for her. She saw no reason for people to die for her what was so special about her that it meant someone should give their life?
"But, a pleasure to meet you Renn, I am Sesena." She offered a small smiled with her introduction. Not that she'd needed one he already knew who she was, but it was only fair to share her name with him if he shared his with her. "Perhaps in light of the situation titles should be best left missing..." The honey-haired woman sighed as they pressed on, she was going to be sore when this was over. Her eyes turned to him as he spoke of how long they had till nightfall. Only an hour or two? That wasn't a lot of time. The princess let him take the lead, making sure to stay close to him, she was scared and this guard was the only person she knew she could trust right now. "I couldn't agree with that statement more." Sensa said with a small laugh agreeing she did not wish to sleep in the cold forest.
As the field came into view relief washed over her. She'd never been more excited to see a field in her life, that field meant a warm place to stay . Sesena picked up her pace having to keep up with him now. It wasn't long before the farm came into view, the sun had begun to dip down past the horizon. The gods were on their side for now and hopefully they'd be granted a warm place to rest for the night. Following after Renn they made their way to the front of the place.

haha well australia is pretty chill but atm our government it at war with google and soon google may not be available in our country. how stupid, right? xD i hate stubborn old politicians.
also no worries, it is still written wonderfully <3
RENN
Sesena. This name was not surprising, Renn knew exactly what her name was, but hearing it emitted from her lips was foreign to him. Had this interaction occurred weeks ago in lighter times, Renn no doubt would have been red-faced with embarrassment and honour. Alas, instead they found themselves in this situation and whilst the honour was still there, Renn struggled to feel light-hearted. She continued about disregarding titles, to which Renn murmured, "Yes, Your Hi-" he would take some time to beat the habit.
At last they stepped into the open of the field. There was something much less eerie about the field compared to the forest. The long grass brushed up to his knees, but they were no longer surrounded by shadows. The breeze was much stronger though and its icy grips grasped desperately at Renn before moving off - tugging at his clothes and making his hair blow against his forehead. Yet, as they trudged along, luck was on their side. The sun was well behind them and the moon had taken its place, casting gentle light on the pair, and ahead Renn saw the distinctive shadow of a building, with a pale glow escaping through the windows. Salvation.
As they neared, Renn hesitated. He paused his steps and thought about how he was going to tackle this situation to best ensure the Princess' safety. "Follow my lead," he glanced back to Sesena, albeit shyly, before turning back and pressing ahead confidently.
He knocked on the door - three firm hits - and a scuffling inside proved the house was occupied. A few moments later the door swung open wide to show a man in his forties with a shaven head and narrow hazel eyes. He was thin and his face was cracked like leather: a sign that he'd spent his entire youth working hard on the field. "By the Gods, what on earth are you doing here?! I've the mind to send the dogs out!" The old man snapped. Without a flinch, Renn bowed deep. "I am honoured to know you didn't, great sir." Renn straightened and stared calmly, "I've come to beg for your assistance. I'm but a mere merchant and my poor wife here is stuck with me. We were robbed on the streets by bandits. I've no longer got anything to my name and she's utterly distraught!" He played the part perfectly, even spared a sympathetic glance to Sesena when he mentioned 'wife'. "I'd be forever in your debt if you allowed us a nights stay in the barn, out of the way, and perhaps a change of clothes? Mine have been ripped at during the scuffle." A gesture to the rip on his leg followed his words. The old farmer eyed Renn for a long moment before doing the same for Sesena. He scratched at his chin, "Aye, I can't let a pretty woman such as herself freeze out there. But lad you've a debt to pay, should be ashamed for not being able to care for her."
Renn bowed his head wordlessly.
Shortly after, the pair found themselves in the warmth of the barn. The cracks in the wall let gasps of cold air in, but it would be much better than camping in the forest. The farmer also allowed them some bread and cheese - tutting to Renn once again about being a lousy husband - and a change of clothes. As the old farmer left them, Renn turned to Sesena and held out the change of clothes to her. "I'm sorry if my lie made you uncomfortable," he said softly. Their source of light was a candle that flickered. "I thought it would be better if people didn't find out the Princess is now traveling alone with a solider, save the panic and rumours." It would be difficult to tell if his cheeks were red, or if it was just the orange hue of the flame flickering.

(With google?! Over what XD I mean it could be literally anything XD)
Sesena
She found herself relaxing as they left the forest. It was dark and cold there but the warmth the house offered just from the glow it emitted was welcome. She managed to pull her hair to one side finally as the wind had started the drying process. Though it had not gotten very far. As he turned confusion washed over her face. Follow his lead? What was he going to do? His knocked rang clear in the night and the princess remained behind him. She did however peek over his shoulder trying to see what he was planning. It was then that the man opened the door, instinctively she ducked behind Renn once more.
Merchant and his poor wife? His poor wife?! Oh, that was right, go with it. Poor wife she could play that role right? She folded her hands neatly in front of her, casting her gaze down until the guard looked to her. Sesena frowned, "Yes sir, I know not how we will make our way in the world now." The princess gently touched Renn's wrist, as if it say everything was fine. A typical affection of a wife right? Her eyes met the farmers as he eyed her and as a princess she would have held his gaze without fail but let her gaze drop now since she was pretending to be a common man's wife.
Once he agreed to let them stay she offered a small smile and a polite curtsy. It wasn't long before the two were settled into the barn and while the walls didn't keep out all the cold air it kept out most of it. For the most part she was quiet while the old man was there, and once he was gone she visible relaxed. She looked at the clothes Renn offer her and she took them, it would be nice to get out of wet clothing. "Uncomfortable? It did not, took me by surprise. You are quite the actor." Sesena laughed shaking her head. "I agree though, it would be best to keep our identities a secret." The woman shifted a bit, "Perhaps we should both change before we add illness to the hurdles in getting home safely. " The light made it just as hard to see any color that made its way to her cheeks. She'd never changed with someone other than her ladies maids in the room.
Sesena moved to the other side of the barn and changed with her back turned to her guard. The clothing was simple, easier to move in than what she'd been wearing. But mostly it was warm and dry. It took the edge off of the cold breeze it made it feel like nothing more than a breath. "Are you dressed?" She asked softly, not wanting to turn around and make herself anymore nervous than she was. When he cleared himself she turned and made her way back to the warm flicker of the candles. She'd hadn't eaten since the morning had she was hungrier than she could put into words. "Bread and cheese has never looked to good." The girl laughed softly once more, trying to just break the tension she was making in her own head.

yeah something about privacy laws (or rather, the government wanting to access all our online information even more) and google telling the australian government 'we will become unavailable in your country if you make these laws' and now the government is like 'yeah well we don't even need you' and the facepalming ensues.
RENN
A small sigh of relief escaped Renn's lips as Sesena laughed and let him know she hadn't been uncomfortable. "Good, I'm glad to know, and my thanks, M'l-" He caught himself before he could finish calling her 'M'lady', and he instead just gave a small nod of his head. As the Princess moved away to change, Renn became hyper-aware of their situation with she, a beautiful Princess, and he, a lowly guard. Whilst his looks weren't bad, he was a little rugged and scarred, and he was of no match to the Princess. As he pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it aside, he looked to his wrist. During their conversation with the farmer, Sesena had innocently placed her hands on his comfortingly. It was part of the act, a meaningless thing that he should have no further thought of. However, strangely enough, after all they'd been though he had felt comforted by the small gesture.
At her soft call, he stammered and replied, "One moment." He quickly changed before giving her a call that he was dressed. And there she stood, in oversized men's clothing. It was not nearly as flattering as her dresses but she still glowed in the candlelight. All at once, Renn regretted the situation they were in. She did not deserve to be there with him staring hungrily at bread and cheese as though it were a roasted meal prepared by the chefs in the castle. Alas, all Renn could do is make the best out of the situation. She seemed to be in good enough spirits, how was he to be so melancholic?
"Truly, I feel as though bread and cheese never tasted this good, either." Renn bit into a mouthful of his dinner. For a few moments he chewed silently, allowing himself a glance at the Princess. He cleared his throat, "Now say, would you ever imagine this happening? Eating alone with someone like me in a strangers barn?" His voice, alongside his small smile, showed his effort to be in good spirits. "I thought I'd have to be damned lucky to ever talk to you, but now that I'm here, I feel as though I cannot think of words to say."
He scoffed down the last of his bread and rubbed at the back of his neck absently. He could feel a deep ache in his side that in the daylight he was sure would prove to be a bruise, and his leg still stung, but overall he was in good shape. He would do his best to remain so in an effort to ensure the Princesses safety. Without him, he didn't know what she would do. They were so far out of town and with bandits on the loose it was dangerous for anyone to be alone.
"I suppose, if it would ease your nerves to know, I should tell you somewhat about myself which isn't much at all." Renn stared at the candle which sat between them, "I've been loyal to the guard all my life, I was sworn in at 13 because I was an orphan before then. So if ever you felt frightened, please know, I will always do my best to prevent any harm from coming to you." It was brief yet it was an obvious attempt to open up and be friendly. It was something Renn was not used to, truly, but he felt was important. She was alone with him, and they had a long road ahead.

(Ooof not the privacy laws but that is so funny. We dont need you google!!! LOL)
Sesena
Sesena laughed softly as she enjoyed the bread and cheese with him. "I couldn't agree more." The princess also ate her food in silence, she didn't really know what to say, she wanted to thank him for saving her but she also didn't want to bring up any sadness that might join her appreciation. She didn't know if she'd ever even felt this hungry before, as royalty she never when without food unless she so chose. As he spoke her eyes moved to rest on him, he was handsome, even if he was a little worn from battle. It added to the character of his look if she was honest. A faint blush made its wat to her cheeks as she realize this was going to be the man she'd be spending the next few weeks with. It wasn't like she was allowed to be alone with a man outside of her family either so that in itself was not normal. That fact that he had a pretty face didn't make it any better.
His next comment made her laugh, lucky to be speaking with her? She didn't think she was that important but she understood why, she was the princess who'd been kept hidden from most of the kingdom. Most people didn't get the chance to speak with her. She wasn't allowed. "Lucky to speak with me? I think it is I who would have been luck enough to get out to talk to someone other than my father or ladies maids." Sesena smiled a bit, " But no, I don't think I even imagined being here like this, perhaps a dream of running off into a field or something but never a barn." The girl shook her head. Her eyes watched him as he spoke about himself. Since he was thirteen? He'd been so young when he'd started to serve the crown and an orphaned as well. Sesena couldn't imagine what that must have been like. Though she supposed it was the best path to go for a boy so young in need of a place to go. "So it is you who has been keeping me safe all these years." The princess laughed softly, "Well, I am glad it is you who will be keeping me safe." She offered him a warm smile.
Taking another bite of her bread she paused before speaking once more. "So all your life you have trained for things like this?" She asked, her head tilting slightly to the side. "I suppose you know some things about me, the ones people are allowed to know." She shrugged her shoulders a bit, "to be honest I was never really alone with many people so I find myself at loss of words as well. What do people talk about?"

RENN
Her laugh in reply to his words made him stiffen, is she laughing at me? He thought, concerned he'd said something wrong or embarrassing. However, when she spoke, her soft voice made him thoughtful. He hadn't considered the kind of life she had, so secluded from regular people such as himself or the townsfolk. She was like a special jewel; kept perfectly polished and away from anything that could taint or hurt it. He looked solemn in the candlelight and he turned to look at his hands, he couldn't keep them still, so he was picking at the skin around his nails absently. How strange that they would end up sat together in this circumstance; while his heart was absolutely broken by the loss of his comrades - his family - he also couldn't help wondering what was planned for them. Likely what was planned was him taking the princess somewhere safe, however, in his heart he felt a deep sense of dread. The worst of what was to come was still to happen. He hoped to be proven wrong.
"It's not just been me," Renn shifted and rose his hand to rub the nape of his neck, as if the kind words made him uncomfortable. "Ah, we all do our best, we simply do what we are told." His voice rasped as he deflected nice comments and he didn't return her gaze.
He sat quietly, his bread now having been scoffed down. but watched her from his peripherals. As she spoke, he tilted his head to listen better. "I trained my entire life to battle, yes." He didn't want to state 'but situations like this... I haven't trained for' as he didn't want to inspire doubt and fear, but he certainly felt out of his comfort zone. Not just in being in her company, but the situation at hand. He was to guide a highly valuable Princess from this barn to the King in Janatar. They didn't even have horses to ride! "I know somewhat about you but to be frank I don't think the Captain trusted sharing too much. Not all guards are bright, nor should they be trusted with a lady of your status by themselves." Guards were strong and powerful; they felt as though they could have anything they wanted. "I had some friends but we usually discuss matters of battle and sword techniques. I don't suppose that'd be of much interest to you..." his voice trailed into the question.
"Here, I will let you know my plans for tomorrow." As though he were giving a war meeting in front of a warband, he shuffled to sit straight ahead of Sesena, his legs crossed and his hands rested on his knees. "We leave before dawn. I saw he had some horses in the paddock. we'll take them with us-" if we survive "-we'll reimburse him once we reach safety. The town should be a days ride, we'll stay low and see if we can gather supplies-" I might have to pickpocket some coin "-whether we send back to the King we'll decide once there. We will have to find someone we can trust to deliver the message." He spoke as confidently as he had when he'd lied to the farmer. This difference in character seemed to appear when Renn had a task at hand; he didn't have to rely on his own social skills.
He looked to her, his dark eyes were black in the night, and he tilted his head slightly - the scratch on his cheek glistened by the flicker of the light. "Do you have any issues with that?"

Sesena
The princess watched him as he brushed off her compliments, a humble man it would seem. She listen as he went on laughing a little at his comment about guards not being too bright. the question of her interest in battles and swords causes a raised brow from her and a small smile. "Actually, swords and battles have always fascinated me, my father never allowed me to train with one. I snuck out once or twice but only when I was young. After I got a few scrapes the king made sure I wouldn't be getting out without an escort again. So while I do not know too much from personal experience I do know what I've read in books." Sesena smiled a bit, "I'd love to learn though, considering the circumstances."
Resting her head in her hand and her elbow on her knee the girl listened to his plan for the day to come. It sounded like a solid plan, even though she felt a little bad for taking the poor man's horses. It was necessary for their survival. He could do without a horse or two. She nodded along as the man spoke and hummed in agreement. "It all sounds like a good plan. Horses are the only way we will make it. I just have one thing." She shifted reaching behind her, "Do you think we could leave this, "The woman held up what was left of her dress, "Its very expensive and I'm sure he could sell it and get at least one new horse? A down payment of sorts?" Her head tilted to the side a bit, she wasn't sure if it was a good idea but she didn't want to leave behind negativity. If for whatever reason they were being followed or something it would be nice to have another ally.
As she finished her plate of food and set it down and pushed it away from her a bit. "Let me clean your wounds so they don't get infected. I did learn a few things reading books stuck in the castle." Sesena took the bowl of water the farmer had provided for to wash up with a cloth and a bit closer to him. "Here." The princess dipped the cloth in the water and started with the wound on his cheek. Without really waiting for his approval or not she tilted his head so she could get a better look at him since the light was so low.

RENN
Renn seemed surprised to hear that she was actually interested in the ways of sword-fighting. The fact her interest was quickly diminished by the King made him somewhat irritated; the fact that people or royalty were so limited in what they could do was confusing. I suppose everyone everywhere has their own restrictions, he thought silently. Growing up an orphan there were certainly limitations to the things he was able to do. "I will show you some of the basics," he murmured.
He considered her proposition. Leaving the dress would be of use monetarily, the delicate embroidery and quality stitching made it evident that it was a valuable piece of work. On the negative side, it certainly wasn't the dress of a traveling merchants wife. What is the farmer caught on? After giving his neck a rub he finally gave a small nod, "I think that will be fine. You are kind to do so." He figured at worst the farmer would deduce they weren't who they said they were but being a farmer in the middle of nowhere, what would he do?
Finally, Sesena did the most surprising move yet; she started cleaning his wounds. Initially he attempted to move his head away as she reached to dab at his cheek, but her hand captured his chin delicately and he was frozen in place. He wasn't sure if he should even breath so he held his breath. He let his eyes close and soon had to let his breath go. Never in his life had been this close to someone above his rank. "T-thank you," he murmured, his voice a bare whisper. He hoped that the heat he felt on his cheeks couldn't be felt by her soft hands. The pain that he felt as she dabbed at the area was replaced by meddling thoughts.
"Ai, it's not so bad. I've had worse, anyway." He mumbled. "I'm sure you getting some rest now will be much more important than worrying about me." He added and he gestured with a movement of his hand towards the straw pile that was a sad excuse for a bed. A cold breeze found its way through the cracks of the building and Renn shivered. Surprisingly, through it all, he didn't make an effort to move away from Sesena. Instead it almost seemed like he leaned into her hand, as though he enjoyed her warmth.

(Sorry my reply is short and took 5 years I got busy this past week o: )
Sesena
When he agreed to teach her the basics she very quickly lit up a large smile on her face, but she quickly pushed it away her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "I would like that." She said softly dabbing at his wound, getting the dirt that had made its way into the wound. "It isn't like I need it anymore." Sesena shrugged her shoulders brushing off his compliment like he had earlier. "Plus, he did us a huge service giving us a place to stay for the night, food, new clothing, and tomorrow his horses. It is the least we can do." The girl really didn't think it was a big deal that she was giving him her dress. It wasn't like she didn't have plenty of dresses in her kingdom as well as others waiting for her in her new home with her husband to be.
As she cleaned his wounds the focused on his cheek Sesena found herself leaning pretty close to him so she could get a good look at the cut, she could feel his breath as he thanked her, but she wasn't paying that any attention to that. At least not yet. "I'm sure you have, but you and I have each other right now. And I'd prefer to have a healthy functioning soldier for the trip." The girl teased gently finally looking at him for a moment. This was when she realized just how close she had been to him.
Sitting back she put the cloth on the side of the bowl and set it to the side. "I uh, its all cleaned up now." She offered him a small smile as she placed her hands gently in her lap. Her eyes turned to the pile of hay he'd gestured to earlier. For a moment the girl blinked, she'd never had to sleep anywhere other than a bed or in her carriage. This was going to be interesting. It didn't look like the hay pile was going to be all that comfortable but it was better than the cold floor. "Perhaps we should get some rest considering we will need to be leaving pretty early.." The princess said softly dusting her hands off on the pants lightly.

[ likewise - sorry for not replying earlier! x.x ]
RENN
Although the Princess didn't seem to notice their closeness, Renn was hyper-aware of it. She was so close he could smell the faint scent of her perfume and her soft teasing made the hair of his forehead sway. He was surprised that the heat from his cheeks didn't sear her hand, truthfully. For a moment he felt far away from their current circumstance and was reminded of a time when he was a boy, sulking after one of his seniors worked him too hard in training. A young lady, one he remembered fondly, had offered him a simply piece of fruit. Renn didn't get to interact with the maidservants often, so he relished the moments he'd gotten with her. Lyssa. She'd been lost to her life-long battle against an incurable illness, although Renn only found out from the whispering of the kitchen staff. With the Princess so near, he felt his heart begin to race in the way it had when Lyssa first offered him that piece of fruit. I need to be very careful, he thought with a hint of sadness.
He knew she realised it too, when she sat back so suddenly. "I... thank you." He murmured, a croak to his voice, "I think some rest will be good. We've got a long ride ahead tomorrow, try and sleep well." Every movement he made now felt awkward and exaggerated, it felt like a sudden scream in a silent room. He eased himself down into his makeshift bed and used his hands behind his head to prop it into a comfortable position. The candlelight still flickered, casting shadows to the ceiling above them, and all Renn could see in those shadows were the faces of the men he'd lost that day.
The soft sounds of Sesena breathing nearby gave him a small sense of peace as he finally was able to close his eyes.
***
Waking up at unprecedented times was something Renn trained to do. He eased up and out of the barn with a skillful silence as to not wake the sleeping Princess. He didn't need directions to the stable as he exited the barn as the smell was a good enough guide as anything, and as he walked in, he found the farmer had four horses. At least he'll have something to use until we can repay our debt. As efficiently as a stable boy he readied the horses for a day of riding before he lead them back to the barn. The sun had still not risen above the horizon, likely the farmer would sleep a few hours more - plenty of time for the two of them to make their getaway.
Seeing as they had no bags to pack there was no reason for Renn to dillydally any longer. With the horses ready to go, he tiptoed back into the barn and knelt beside Sesena. He hesitated before placing his hand gently on her arm to nudge it, "My lady, it's time to leave." He instinctively used formalities as he whispered.

(No worries boo! I got randomly super super sick but I'm getting better now enough that I can look at a screen for longer than twenty mintues and type more How have you been?)
Sesena
That had been an interesting moment. She'd been close enough to feel his breath and his warmth that radiated off of him. Sesena rested her hands delicately in her lap once more, nervousness now setting in. Why was she nervous now? That was easy she'd never been this close to someone outside of her lady's maids and her father. She was never allowed to be this close to anyone, it wasn't proper. Her father would have lost his head had he seen how informal the two had just been. Though Sesena had never really been one for formality, she hated it honestly but she played the part perfectly now matter how much it bored her. She knew that if the biggest hardship she had was forced formality, she had an easy life compared to most. So she couldn't complain. But once she'd noticed how close they were her cheeks had taken on a bright red color that made it's way up her ears. Tucking a stray stand of hair behind her ear she smiled softly as he mention bed as well. "Y-Yes." She stood up after he did, making her way to the hay as well, sitting down. "Goodnight Renn.." The princess said softly before settling into the hay, she rolled on to her side, propping her head up on her hands.
It hadn't taken long for her to fall asleep all things considered. The hay was itchy, it wasn't the warmest thing in the world but sleep embraced her faster than it had in a while. After all the running and trauma she'd seen today there was no surprise that it only took a matter of minutes for her to fall asleep. The sounds of the night weren't too bad either, it was quiet and a chirping of insects made for a peaceful lullaby. What had happened still rang clear, she'd seen one of her only friends killed, but that hadn't quite settled in yet.
*** Since the sun had not yet come over the horizon she was still fast asleep. Even if it had peaked Sesena would have still slept in till dawn had past and morning arrived. Something stirred her, a voice? M'lady? It had all been a dream. The woman shifted a bit, reluctant to wake, but her eyes fluttered open for a moment. That was when it hit, she sat up quickly, still very much half awake and looked around before her eyes rested on Renn. She blinked at him for a moment before she rubbed her eyes and moved to get up. "It is Sesena remember?" The woman's voice was groggy as she stretched her arms above her head standing up as she did. "It is morning already?" The barn looked dark still, she couldn't remember the last time she'd been up before the sun.

oh no! i'm sorry to hear you were sick but i'm glad you're better now! <3 i've been doing good! haven't been doing anything interesting lol
RENN
Renn stepped back as Sesena rose to her feet and he rubbed at the nape of his neck sheepishly as she reminded him to not use formalities. If I call her Princess or M'Lady in town that could draw attention... "Sorry... Sesena." Her name felt foreign on his tongue, like it was too precious to be uttered by a man such as himself. In an effort to shake off the sudden bashful feeling that grew inside his stomach he straightened his shoulders and nodded to her question. In the pre-dawn light he could merely make out her outline but wasn't able to distinguish all her features. "It's before dawn. I've prepared the horses, we need to leave." He didn't hesitate as he turned heel and strode out of the barn.
The world outside was colder than inside. His shoes were damp from the dew that covered the grass and he thought dreadfully of the winter to come. I need to make sure the Prince- no, Sesena - is somewhere safe before the snow begins to fall. He turned his head to look at her, his dark eyes unreadable in the dimmed lighting. Even in the darkness... even despite the way she groggily rubbed at her eyes and stretched her arms, Renn thought once more about her beauty. How was it fair that he was now in charge or shipping her off to marry the ungrateful Prince? I can't be like that, he chided himself, she has her destiny just as much as I have mine. He gripped at the horses reins to steady it and gestured for Sesena to get on. "We'll ride as far as we can until the sun comes up and then we can rest. I would just like to get as far from here as possible." His voice held it's usual serious authority. He had decided in the silence of the night, before he'd become overcome by sleep that he couldn't afford to become close to the princess. What kind of man would he be if he stole another man's betrothed?
When she had settled herself, he moved to his own horse and expertly climbed up and threw his leg over to settle into the saddle. When the horse began to fuss and step backwards, he reached forward to stroke its head, "Shh, it's okay... it's okay..." he murmured tenderly into it's ears. It began to calm, though it's dark eyes flicked nervously. "There you go, that's right," a smile twitched his lips and although it was unseen in the darkness it could be heard in his voice. Straightening up he looked ahead to the meadow they had trudged through before and let out a deep sigh.
"Let's go." He nudged the horses flank and it began to move forward.

(Hey ya know what nothing interesting is better than something bad! We love that)
Sesena
Sesena looked at him for a moment, well as best she could in the dark. The candle had provided more light than she'd realized the night before. Had he said before dawn? That was far too early for her liking but they didn't really have a choice did they. After all they had to be up before the farmer so there wouldn't be any fighting. They wanted to get away as easily as possible so they wouldn't be causing anymore harm considering they were stealing from the man.
She followed after him, smoothing down her hair and adjusting her clothes as she made her way outside. Blinking a bit as she left the total darkness of the barn there wasn't too much to adjust to. It was just as dark outside so it was easy to spot the horses. Her hand reached out to pet the large animal to get it comfortable before the got on. The woman shivered a bit as a cool breeze blew passed them, she smiled softly as the horse, "It is early for me too." Sesena giggled softly before she looked at Renn. "An excellent idea. It wouldn't be good if the farmer managed to catch up to us." The princess pulled herself on to the horse with ease. This was something she'd been allowed to do, and unknown to most she was pretty good at it. Sidesaddle or no. These pants were going to make it a lot easier too. Giving her horse a light pat she shifted to get more comfortable.
Again she looked to her guard, who she couldn't really make out but it was clear he was ready to go. The princess nudged her horse, clicking her tongue a bit and followed after him. "Where is our next destination? About how far do you think it is from here?" She asked softly. The woman didn't want to be too loud. They were stealing after all.

[ that's true! actually, i'll be starting university come march so i'll have plenty going on then lol ]
RENN
The young guard glanced to Sesena as they moved and he strained his ears to hear her soft words before they were caught by the chilling breeze that crept across the meadow. He mused for a moment, brows furrowing, before he looked ahead again solemn as a statue. "We are at least a day away, maybe two depending on how quick we go. The next town is Wyndmere. It's a traders town because it sits between the two kingdoms so it will be... busy." Renn had been to the town once on another mission and almost shuddered as he remembered the bustling streets and pick-pockets. A trading town was filled with desperate people, hungry for food, money, and work. It certainly isn't a place for Sesena, the thought crossed his mind protectively.
"We'll have to be careful there and maintain a low profile. I know an innkeeper in the town who should help us but Wyndmere is not for the fainthearted." It certainly would be a culture shock compared to the elegance of the castle they both hailed from.
He remained quiet and alert as they continued onward. As the dawn sun began easing up on the horizon, sending pink rays into the clouds, they neared a path that was lined by the meadow on one side and the forest on the other. He couldn't help the eerie prickle that caused the hair on the back of his neck as he stared into the forest undergrowth. Would there be bandits in there, too? Waiting to pounce on the defenseless pair? His hands tightened on the reins until his knuckles turned white. The bandits couldn't know where we are, anyways, he tried to reassure himself. Glancing to the Princess, he left out the breath he didn't know he'd been holding. It was strange to think but her presence gave him a surge of courage, as though if an army of bandits did suddenly ambush them he would fight with all his might just to try and protect her. As a guard should, he wouldn't think deeply on those strong feelings that crept in the back of his head.
"Are you okay? We can rest if you want..." His voice trailed as he realised they hadn't any food to eat. A rest may be good for the horses but all it would do for them would prolong the journey. He brushed some hair from his face and narrowed his dark brown eyes. "Or if we press on we may come across a bagman, they aren't uncommon along these paths since we are so close to Wyndmere." They didn't have money to buy another food but if they could play the sympathy game again... well, despite the shame that the burned at his ears at the thought, they would get what they need somehow.
