closed letting this one die RIP

(Ooo, I'm totally gonna hop into this! I'll create some characters later!)

Ghost was out on the hunt, her nose to the ground and her tail up high. She was sniffing for rabbit, she was on her own so taking down a deer would be harder . The snow had made her nose numb, and her paws cold. She on the other hand was not cold, she was used to this. It didn’t bother her at all, she loved to hunt no matter what the weather .
When she finally caught wind of a rabbit, she darted off and bolted for the rabbit just up top a tree line . She snarled and ripped at its neck, quickly killing it. She picked it up in her jaws, and padded her way back to the pack camp.
Once she was there she walked her way to the alphas den, to present her prey to see what he would decide. She found her alpha and set the rabbit down to greet him.
“Hello  dream. How is the alpha doing today? I brought you a rabbit , should I put it in the prey pile or shall we share it?”

Dream smiled , his tail wagging. “Hello Ghost. I am well. Prey pile, it doesn’t hurt to stock up considering it’s winter. Will you join me on the howling rock to take a nap?” He looked at his sister, and gave her an affectionate nudge.

“No, I can’t. I’m tired from being on the hunt all day. But perhaps I’ll join you some other time. Will you be organizing a entire pack hunt some time tomorrow?”

Dream sighed. “Yes I suppose the pack is very hungry for a group hunt, perhaps we could stalk the elk herd who has been spotted near the watering hole.”

He padded out of the den. Not wanting to talk anymore. He sat down just outside of it, and Ghost join him shortly. They both layed down and closed their eyes.

(alright looks like dream will be Aspen's mate then if thats alright with you for the position of beta )

(Okay yeah sounds good, I already have some starters up. )

Aspen lay curled in the moonlit light of her and Dream's den. Her eyes were open, she couldn't sleep, and she watched as Ghost came in with a rabbit. As her mate and his sister left the den to lay out under the stars, Aspen almost got up to join them. But the pale gray she-wolf didn't want to interrupt the siblings' time together. Instead, she continued to lay there, staring out at the moon.

Steel paced just outside the camp. He hadn't been able to get to sleep and so had taken a shift on guard, seeing as many wolves had died recently. It was a harsh winter and the bear sighting didn't make it any better. The dark-furred wolf paused in his pacing as his mind traveled to the bear. It was big and it should be hibernating, but it was out and terrorizing the wolf pack. His pack. Steel hoped that Dream, his Alpha, and Aspen, his sister, could figure out a way to get rid of this looming threat.

Indigo lay alone on a frosted rock, twitching once in a while in her sleep. She had gone out hunting during the evening, proudly bringing back a litter of stoats and their mother which she found in the snow.

Aspen lifted her pale gray head as Dream laid down beside her. She chuckled before responding, “No dear. However much I hope they will come, I don’t want them coming into the world during winter.” She twisted her body so that she could groom her mate’s ruffled fur. She was proud to be the Beta of her pack, but even more proud that Dream was her mate. Aspen wanted pups just as much as he did, but winter was a bad time for pups to be born. “Maybe in the spring, Dream,” she woofed, settling her head across his shoulders.

Steel started at the she-wolf’s voice, having been too lost in thought to hear her come up to him. He looked at Moon, giving a soft howl in reply as she turned her face towards the moon. “It’s quite cold tonight, isn’t it? Have you had any thoughts on that bear?” Steel wanted to know whether any of the other pack members had any plans or information that he didn’t. He wanted to be ready for anything.

Aspen smiled softly at his comment about their future pups. “Yes, and they’ll be just as handsome as their father,” she said softly as he slept. She starred at the back wall of their den for a few moments, trying to imagine her and Dream lying in the camp clearing with pups playing at their paws. Eventually, she too fell asleep.

Nodding his head, Steel walked closer to to Moon and sat down next to her, feeling the warmth of her body. “Yeah, but there’d have to be a lot of nightshade to take down a creature of that size,” he woofed, glancing at her with sparkling eyes. “I would say the opposite, fighting it, but I don’t feel that we have the number to do so.” Steel sighed, looking out into the forest with sad eyes. He knew that the pack was hardy, but did they have the strength to push through winter, plus take on a huge bear?

(Aww, now I want pups... I did have an idea last night though, about the pups. It takes time for the pups to grow big enough to kick, so maybe within the next few days Aspen shows signs of being pregnant? Like being tired all the time, eating a lot of food, having stomach pains, etc. and then maybe Sinister noticed and tells her she’s expecting pups? Idk just a thought.)

Steel silently rested his tail over Moon’s haunches, in an attempt to comfort her. He was worried about their pack. They were all so weak due to the low prey and if they fought against the bear again, surely it would kill them all. So he made a mental note to speak about the nightshade berries to his sister; Aspen could think about it with her mate, Dream.

Steel closed his eyes and imagined the bear moaning after eating the nightshade berries. It could work, but they would need to be extra careful with how they were going to give the berries to the bear. "Do you want to see if either Aspen or Dream are up? We could tell them about your idea," he said, looking down at Moon.

"Yes, let's go," he woofed, standing up and pushing his way through the camp entrance. Steel paused in the clearing before heading toward the Alpha and Beta's den, where Dream sat. Dipping his head to his Alpha, Steel stopped a few paw-lengths from the den entrance. "Hello, Dream. Moon had an idea to get rid of the bear that is terrorizing the pack." Steel glanced behind the white wolf at his sleeping sister before sitting down in front of Dream.

Aspen shifted in her sleep as Dream left her side. She stayed asleep though, her mind silent of dreams.

(Got it, I'll keep my brain working! lol)

Steel listened as Moon spoke, thinking a moment before following Moon's lead. "I figure we could load a few rabbits with the nightshade berries and then place them in a pile near its den. That way it will eat them before realizing it was eating poison." The dark-furred wolf paused to catch his breath, looking to Dream for any sign of agreement.

Aspen swiveled her ears as the sound of wolves reached them. She blinked open her eyes to find herself alone in the den. Standing up and turning around, she slowly made her way toward the entrance, where she sat down beside Dream. The pale-colored wolf didn't speak, just listened as her brother, mate, and Dream's sister spoke.

Aspen slowly nodded her head, thinking it over thoroughly before replying. They had a better chance at night when the bear was asleep. They could hunt for rabbits and nightshade berries by day, in the opposite direction of the bear, and at midnight they could place the rabbits stuffed with nightshade outside the bear's den. "Yes, I believe it would work. But the wolf to do the place would have to be fast and agile. Perhaps a hunter," she said slowly, running through different versions of the plan in her mind.

Steel fluffed up his fur with pride as his sister spoke. He was glad she had been chosen to help lead the pack; she thought things through with such completion.

Aspen grinned as she leaned into Dream. She was glad they were finally doing something about the bear. She didn't want any of her and Dream's pups to have that kind of danger looming over their heads. "I think I'll try to catch some more sleep," she said, turning to walk back into the den and lying down on the soft moss.

Steel stood as Dream spoke and turned toward the hunter's den. "I'll inform her of the plan," he barked, trotting toward the large den. Peeking inside, he spotted Ghost's white pelt in the gloomy light. He walked up to her and nudged her gently. "Ghost, wake up."
