She Devil This Christmas, I'll burn it to the ground...
The End of the World... Again
28 years ago, The Devil summoned the four Horsemen of the apocalypse to sound their horn and begin the war between Heaven and Hell. As each side went to war with the other, there were plenty of casualties. Only not among their ranks but on the human population.
As War led the charge on either side of the demons and the angels, the humans were caught in the middle. Families torn apart, destroyed, and lives lost at the hands of these celestial and infernal beings. And with the destruction came the famine, the disease, and the pollution. Taking the gift of lives from more and more humans. And as they died so did another kind of monster: Vampires.
Desperate to feed, they sided with the Demons and began aiding them with things they smuggled and growing their numbers. They were eager to end the war and go back to feasting and throwing their extravagant parties.
Miraculously, however, humanity wasn't wiped clean from the earth as was intended.
They banded together and sided with Heaven. Forming alliances with the Archangels and building their own ragtag armies. The fought back against Demons, both learning more about them and learning how to destroy them. The humans who would specialize in killing demons and vampires would be the first Monster Hunters, leading to many more in the future.
But even with these special forces, the demonic beings and their armies only grew bigger and stronger making things grim for the side of Heaven.
The war waged on for three brutal and devastating years. Cities were destroyed, families torn apart, trust betrayed, hate and fear rising everyday. Until One day it suddenly stopped. There were no more attacks. No more Demons attacked and all was quiet.
Hell had gone back to where it belonged.
And now?
We act like this apocalypse didn't happen. Now we all live together, 28 years later, as if there wasn't so much destruction and pain.
Well I intend to remind everyone. And if a second apocalypse will help...
Then so be it.What is this? This is an Urban Fantasy rp about stopping the second apocalypse!
Currently, the world is at peace. Heaven and Hell tolerate each other and almost everyone has moved on from the war. So much so that there isn't much evidence of destruction left anymore. Everything on the surface looks like it is going well.
But, a utopia is hardly possible. Especially with grudges to be settled.
More and more reports of Demons turning up dead on earth have shaken the Demons and Angels alike.
Tensions are high for both sides and slowly, they have started to pull their people back home. Nervously preparing for a second war.
Except for our heroes. Together, a group of "heroes" will fight against their differences to defeat this looming threat. Gain each other's trust and suffer through betrayals. An easily destructible force consisting of a misfit cast of different species and ideals. Our only defense against a second Apocalypse.
Good Luck. You're going to need it.

A Journal Entry of the Monster Hunter
Rigel Grosvenor
Demons The first thing to know about Demons is that there are many different kinds. They all vary in commonality but all pass as normal humans save for their colorful snake like eyes, black blood, and any powers they may have at their disposal. While all demons are born with their natural ability, they can learn other forms. However, they will never be no where near as proficient as their born ability.
Fire Demons
One of the most common types of demon. They are masters of fire creation and manipulation and cannot survive in the intense cold. They can be kind of simple and unable to think too far ahead. When they die they turn to ash.
Rarity: Common
Abilities: Fire creation and manipulation. Unable to be burned by themselves, another demon, or any fire itself. Turn into creatures of pure flame when battle focused and/or enraged
Strengths: Withstanding intense heat, inflicting pain, manipulating flame.
Weaknesses: Cold temperatures, wind, rain, most of them are rage creatures which can be their own downfall. If they burn too hot for too long they may destroy their body and turn to ash.
Role: Hell’s torturers and occasional soldiers
Advice: For torture, keep them in cold areas. Places where they can't heat up the area. Their body temperature decreases incredibly fast. In battle, wait until they burn themselves out to get a hit in. They almost always tired themselves out.
Storm Demons
Demons that control lightning, rain, and winds. In their emotional state, these demons literally become a walking storm. They can be stopped with a simple charm on some sort of container that traps them inside. If you need help with a storm demon; seek out a witch! When they die they turn to fog.
Rarity: Very Uncommon
Abilities: Manipulating the weather within a small foot radius of themselves, concealing themselves in fog, becoming a storm themselves
Strengths: Manipulating lightning, being stealthy, causing destruction
Weaknesses: Charms against them, being unable to focus when using their abilities, copper
Role: Spies and Soldiers. Usually both. Sometimes they are sent to earth to cause massive destruction.
Advice: Find a witch to enchant a jar or some kind of container and trap them in it. As long as the jar is sealed the demon cannot escape or attack. Or keep their attention diverging in different paths. If they can't focus for long they can't get the upper hand.
Manipulation Demons
Able to change their appearance and voice to whatever they please as well as "suggest" things that may tempt their victim into doing what they want. Commonly found at crossroads and abandoned railroad tracks in the middle of the night. If you see them waving at you in the foggy distance, don't acknowledge them. Just turn around and keep going. There is nothing special about their deaths.
Rarity: Uncommon
Abilities: Changing voice and appearances, Persuasive silver tongue, Making binding deals and contracts
Strengths: Comforting presence, manipulating their victims, just as tricky as a fairy finding loopholes and counterpoints
Weaknesses: Being outsmarted, Usually weak in combat (There have been exceptions)
Role: Crossroads demons. They get humans and other monsters to sell their souls
Advice: Don't talk to them or make a deal. They can't do anything if you don't actually speak to them.
Brute Demons
Demons that turn into giant hulking beasts that thrive on their own rage for a battle. Each beast looks different for every demon. They are the strongest and biggest of their kind. They were the front lines during the war between Heaven and Hell. When they die they turn to stone. Some hunters have been known to keep the newly formed statues as trophies.
Rarity: Common
Abilities: Turning into giant rage beasts that are 10ft or taller, enhanced strength, enhanced stamina
Strengths: Taking large amounts of damage, being intimidating, battle ready creatures
Weaknesses: The underside of their belly is their weak point in their beast form, the are constantly hungry and require a lot of food to be satisfied, once they run out of energy brute demons become sluggish and vulnerable
Role: Commanders and Soldiers
Advice: (I'll come back to this)
Shadow Demons
An extremely rare type of demon and very dangerous as told by other demons. They control darkness and turn into a mangled shadow with glowing eyes when not properly handling the extremes of their emotions. Currently, there seem to only be two in existence. (Mod Note: They have both been claimed). It is unknown how they die.
Rarity: Ultra Rare
Abilities: Rumored to move in and out of shadows with fluidity and turn into creatures of pure darkness. All else is Unknown.
Strengths: Unknown
Weaknesses: Unknown, presumably (And hopefully) light.
Role: Too unstable to function in society. Demon or otherwise. These types of demons are usually killed as infants.
Advice: Not Available
Normal Demons
More common than anyone would expect. They are demons that are born with no powers. While not the most dangerous type of demon, they can be extremely clever and tricking humans into making a deal or doing something foolish. They do not die in any special way.
Rarity: Common
Abilities: None
Strengths: Outsmarting their enemies and getting out of dangerous situations they don't want to be in
Weaknesses: Almost everything
Role: Soldiers, Common, Spies, Traders, etc.
Advice: (I'll come back to this)
Are demons born with their power? They are. The powers that demons receive are hereditary. Which ever parent's gene was dominant is the power the the demon will gain. It is rumored that the royal family is full of different types of demons because they are the children of the king of Hell.
Common Weakness All demons are weakened by mustard flowers/ mustard seeds. While merely around it, demons are weak and uncomfortable, smelling it for too long causes headaches and could make them sick, eating it is like poison. A demon will die within 1-3 hours is not treated properly and the process is extremely painful.
Deals and Contracts with All Demons A Demon's word is their bond. If they promise something you can rest assured they will oblige it. They cannot go back on an agreement and if they do then it wouldn't be for long. However, most demons (especially Manipulation demons) are notorious for finding loopholes and ultimately backstabbing the human or creature they made a deal with.
Truthful For some reason, Demons are incapable of telling lies. They cannot say anything other than the truth no matter how much they want to. They can, however, avoid telling the truth or find ways around their true intentions.
Vampires Tend to stick to themselves during the day but at night they are the life of the party. Identified by their pale skin and hauntingly beautiful eyes.
Sunlight Unlike a lot of modern adaptions, real vampires walk in both the daylight and the moonlight. While they prefer to stay indoors and rest during the day, they have no real problem stepping into sunlight.
Sleep
They have no need to sleep, after all they're dead. They do take long periods of rests, like cats laying in a window. However, vampires are more active and seem to have more energy during the Night hours.
Infection
Carefully injecting their venom into a human's bloodstream turns that person into a nightwalker after a painful couple of days. One wrong move can cause the victim to bleed out and kill them.
Powers Enhanced speed, Enhanced Senses, and Enhanced Strength. Sadly, they don't fly or turn into animals/mist. While it's not confirmed if it's a power or not, they seem to be very good at convincing people to do things. Rumor has it that its something to do with their eyes or their unnatural beauty.
Weaknesses
The classics. Garlic weakens and makes a vampire uncomfortable, silver backed mirrors show no reflection of them which reveals a vampire to the world, and a sharp wooden stake doused in holy water and stabbed through the heart kills them. If a Vampire doesn't feed for a while that become feral, desperate for blood. However, if they don't feed for even longer, they will "die" until the next time blood is pooled in front of them.
Advice here
Angels
There is not much known about them as they never really reveal themselves and look like any other person. From what is known, most of the ones that reveal themselves are Guardian Angels for a specific person.
Wings Of course, they are used to fly. The wings are also retractable into the angel's back to help disguise as a human. Each Angel's wings are different and represent them. Most Angels have only 1 pair of wings but some have been seen with 2 pairs.
Powers Healing, Heightened Senses, Enhanced Strength, and Tough Skin (meaning that mortal weapons won't kill or seriously harm them but it will hurt).
Weakness Hellfire burns them so badly that it could kill them. On top of that, burn or cut off their wings and they become grounded, confused, and distressed unable to figure out what to do.
Liers Angels are physically incapable of lying. They are, however, very good about beating around the bush. Similar to demons they find loopholes and ways to avoid telling the truth if they feel the need to.
Advice here
Witches, Warlocks, and Sorcery
Creatures (Demon, Vampire, Human, or Angel) with magic in their blood. While sorcery can be learned, it is not as powerful as someone who comes from a long line of magic.
The Moon
A sorcery based creature's powers follow the phases of the moon. Their powers are strongest during a full moon and can sometimes be unpredictable during a new moon or some sort of eclipse/ phenomenon.
Powers
Powers depend on what they decide to focus on. They can specialize in enchantments, curses, potions, or entertainment magic. Magic can be used for battle or to heal. But it all comes at a price.
Familiars
Protective magical creatures that masquerade as animals. They form a special bond with their master and have the ability to talk. They are loyal to their master and their master alone.

"Thank you, Sarah." A woman stands in front of the crime scene, a camera pointed in her face as she reports on the events that happened in the area. She is calm and quick to the point. Giving all the facts of the crime and leaving no room for opinions. People crowded behind the yellow police tape, murmuring to each other and staring at the 7ft tall statue of stone with a snarling expression and claws stretched out to attack. Cracks splintered from the stomach, up the chest, and down the legs. There was a whole there as well. A small section that could fit a small blade or something. "Recent reports of an increasing number of demon casualties have only seemed to grow to an alarming rate. Behind me is the scene most recent death of a resident Brute demon. As some people know, when a brute dies, they turn to stone in the last position they were in. The unfortunate victim was stabbed in the stomach with some sort of short blade. The estimated time of the attack seems to be sometime around 3am but officers are still deliberating. If you have any more informat-" "Alix?" A young man with silver hair, but the youthful face of a 20 year old stepped forward towards the statue. His vibrant yellow snake eyes slowly filling with tears indicated that he was a demon of some kind. He looked distraught and terrified at what was possibly in front of him. Everyone paused as he approached the scene, hardly moved as he ducked under the police tape and started moving faster towards the demon that was forever trapped in stone now. No spirit to contact and talk to. He'd be gone... forever. Eventually, the police did stop him from getting any closer. Talking to him in quiet voices and reassuring him that they were going to find who did this. The white haired demon just sobbed collapsing to the floor for his fallen friend. "Alix..." was all he could mutter through sobs. His breath hitched with each second he tried to compose himself, only to make it worse and cause him to cry harder. A camera shutter sounded behind the demon and he paused in his weeping. Earily still as there was a quiet scolding mutter, presumably from someone next to the person who took the camera. For seconds everything was still and quiet. "Why are you taking pictures?" He asked, his voice dangerously low. And yet there was a power there. The wind carried his voice around the area and seemed to only get louder. Louder than it should have. "He's not a spectacle to be gawked at! He's not some sculpture!" The wind started picking up. Moving faster and pulling at people's clothes and hair. The sky darkened and thunder started rolling as the demon stood and turned to angrily face the crowd of humans staring at him in fear. "Get out of here!" He demanded as lightning flashed across his face, followed closely by a roar of thunder. His body started pulsing with electricity and his body seemed to blur with the ever increasing gust of air moving around him. His eyes glowed brighter than they should have as his distorted voice sounded again "Leave!" "Storm demon!" Someone screamed which seemed to break everyone from their trance, causing everyone to panic and scatter from the scene. People climbing over each other and pushing to get farther away from the scene. "Run! Go, go, go!" The police officers were screaming, trying to direct the panicking civilians to a safe spot. The grabbed the reporter and pulled her away from the angry demon. The screaming from the feeling people could hardly be heard over the repeated rolls of thunder across the sky. "Someone call a hunter!" And with that, the camera lost connection and the rest of the world was lost as to what was currently going on.

Estrid sat in the back of her parents’ car, her eyes fixated on the book in her hands as she skimmed the words on the page. The light humming of the family car, the quiet murmurs of the radio, and the chattering of her moms in the front of the car seemed to blend together into what was essentially white noise. It helped her zone into the book she was reading at least. It was a work of nonfiction, a bibliography about the life of one of the first monster hunters and her exploits leading up to the apocalyptic war that happened 28 years prior. She found it a fascinating read, learning about how this woman started out by hunting lowly vampires before setting her sights on fighting off actual demons for the sake of humanity. Though, while she loved the book, her only gripe was the depiction of vampires and other creatures in the story. There had to have been more to them than “I want to kill humans bwa.” She’d certainly met more vampires who didn’t follow that stereotype.
“Honey?”
Estrid looked up to see one of her moms, Thera, looking back at her from the passenger seat.
“You should probably leave the book in the car once we get to Aunt Nira’s place. You know how they are with monster hunters, right?” Thera spoke in her normal laid-back tone, though her inflections were a lot softer than they normally would be.
“Yeah, I know,” Estrid mumbled, sliding a bookmark into her current page before shutting the book and setting it down on the seat next to her. She got the sentiment behind it. They were family friends and probably wouldn’t feel comfortable with having a book that essentially exploited the deaths of their kind at the hands of some hunter. She’d certainly feel uncomfortable if she were in their shoes. Though, after a few minutes of sitting around, her attention was drawn to the radio and what appeared to be a news report being played over it. Her other mom, Ceto, reached a hand over from the steering wheel to turn it up.
“-Behind me is the scene most recent death of a resident Brute demon-”
“It feels like there’s a new death everyday.” Thera mumbled, looking across the car at her wife.
“A new demon death,” Ceto replied, not removing her eyes from the road, “It’s not too surprising. Afterall, they’re responsible for so many humans-”
“Mom,” Estrid piped up, not wanting to hear her mother finish her statement, “they’re civilians, not ‘just demons’.”
“Yeah, I know, but-”
“Oh hey, I can see her house from here!” Thera quickly chimed, distracting the other two as they both peered over to see the grand building that belonged to Deyanira, the vampire queen, and her royal court. It was old and a little disheveled, but the general shape itself seemed pretty intact.
Estrid had seen the building so many times growing up, but it still managed to fill her with excitement. So much history to decipher, or secrets to find. She couldn’t recall if she’d ever manage to completely explore the place, but today was the day to find out. Once the car was pulled up next to the place, Estrid stepped out with her bookbag and gave a couple waves to her moms. They waved back, but the young teen could recognize the unease in Ceto’s eyes. She knew her mother well enough to understand what she was worried about. She was weary of these creatures in general, and hearing about the deaths of those demons seemed to feed into that fear. What would happen if they decided to retaliate?
Thera gave her wife a reassuring glance and a pat on the shoulder, before turning back to Estrid and smiling. “Have fun!” she beamed, still waving even when the car started moving again.
Estrid waved back and smiled. Her mothers needed some alone time once in a while, she knew that. At least she’ll get to hang out with Nira and her vampire squad in the meantime. Once the car was out of sight, she turned to the door and gave it a good few knocks. “Hellooooooooo?” she called “It’s me, Estrid. Anyone hooooooome?” Might as well let people know she was there.

Valeria Pandora Morningstar, known on Earth, well, by Val, she took to hiding as well as she could. One man she had encountered insisted on calling her Valley, not that she minded going by Valeria. At least, by those who even asked her name, not that many died.
Essentially, it was few and far between, because there were stray demons, even here on Earth, and she couldn't afford one of them finding her and reporting her presence back to Hell.
She couldn't go home, no matter what. Nothing could make her go back. She refused to be a danger to her home and family. She refused to become a monster around them. Never again.
As the hooded girl stepped out of the darkness of an alley, shades over her eyes despite the darkness already outside (to hide those violet eyes of her, of course, dead giveaways as they were), she noticed a small crowd had formed. Which was odd, if you were to ask her. Crowds didn't form out of thin air, humans were disgustingly attracted to disasters, though it was understandable. Such a devilish delight to see things so horrid, she guessed.
As a child she read about humans, the war, their history. She had once dreamed of living among them, it wasn't everything it seemed to be. A cost for running from home was that she was now in the danger every other demon would be in. Such as the demon before this crowd, dead, turned to stone.
It broke her heart, and put a large amount of fear into her heart. A woman was reporting on it, and she took a few steps back, not able to quite turn away. The woman reporting on it was interrupted by that storm demon, mourning over this Alix character. She froze slightly at the sight of his eyes, slinking back more. Obviously he wasn't paying attention to anything other than Alix, but still, if one demon got whiff of her, right back home she'd go. A caged animal again, a explosion waiting to happen.
She heard the click of the camera, wincing immediately, and finally turning from the event. She ran, as she had been doing for months now. Picking up the words 'monster hunter' didn't help any, sending fear deeper. The most horrifying thing she had read about, the ruthless hunters, killing demons for their bounties. The War had been long ago now, and yet they were still targeting her kind out of vengeance.
For a half-human hybrid, she didn't care much for what she had seen of Earth. All these demons dying, and she could do nothing to help them. Nothing at all. She could only run when there was a threat, and it made her feel like a coward.
In her physical cloak, and the cloak of darkness she undertook, she scurried back into an alley. Floundering a bit for a map she had snagged from a passerby a while back, she flung it open, desperately searching for some way out of the city in a very fast span of time. If Stormy (Alix's friend, it would seem) knew what was best for him, he'd get the hell out of dodge too.
Mindlessly she wondered for a block or so, the darkness surrounding her seeming like a blanket, rather than something arcane (though matched with her shades and that cloak, she looked more like a desperate child trying to seem a bit too edgy). She snapped her head up upon hearing a voice.
"You lost, kid?" A guy leaning up against a wall asked, cigarette smoke wafting from a lit stick in his hand. She supposed some kids may be bothered by such a thing, but she was well accustomed to the smell of worse things burning, she had to deal with her siblings growing up. "You're in a bad part of town, kid, rumors say demons and vamps scout out this way. You'd be easy prey for them."
She fixed a glare at the lanky man through her glasses, standing up a bit taller. "You should mind your own business," his face screwed up in confusion, so she scoffed, "There's much worse things than monsters hiding in these parts," a tilt of the head, pulling her hood back, but keeping her glasses on her face, "and whoever preys on me better start praying."
The guy huffed out some of his cigarette smoke, he had shaggy hair, looked to be in his 30s. His skin had a mauve tint to it, not entirely unhealthy, but obviously effected by his habits. "Suit yourself kid, don't say I didn't warn you."
Rolling her eyes, Valeria trekked on. She had wasted enough time on this man, who was smoking just outside of a bar.

Rigel Grosvenor was a monster hunter. Perhaps not the easiest job, perhaps not with the greatest job security in the world. After all, the creatures he made it his mission to kill were highly dangerous and unpredictable. Some might question his sanity in doing the job, but Rigel didn’t care about that. He had his reasons, very good reasons for doing his job.
Taking these things down wasn’t just about the money for him, as it was for so many others. Oh no, this was personal.
He had been on his way to the part of town where he spent the majority of his time; demons and vampires congregated here. They stalked the streets. All it usually took was for Rigel to separate one from the herd and he’d have a solid chance at a hit. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. He’d been after the vampire queen for years with no luck; the woman was untouchable and anyway, the fear of the kind of power vacuum that would form were she killed tended to stop anyone at work directly assigning her case to anyone.
The same went for the princes and princesses of Hell. Rigel had been after them a long time, didn’t even know what they looked like. He knew some of them liked to spend more time on earth than others. He’d only really known about one of them on earth. All Rigel knew was that he was a male, and a goddamn nightmare to find.
Anyway, walking. He was walking. His form reflected slightly on the wet stone, feet light as he went. He’d learned over years of being a hunter to have a light tread. Sometimes hunting a monster through the city wasn’t all that different to hunting an animal in the woods.
It was then that he came across the dead brute demon, apparently killed at 3AM that morning. Was that his handiwork? Or somebody else’s? He honestly couldn’t remember, but he made a mental note of the demon mourning the other. He didn’t seem immediately dangerous, but in Rigel’s eyes they were all threats. And this one would undoubtedly want to take revenge for the death of this Alix.
The storm demon started to become angry then, powers manifesting themselves in an all-too-frightening way. This was exactly why they were too dangerous to live. The peril they put other people in was simply too great.
Unfortunately, Rigel didn’t have his best weapons with him; he tended to reserve those for when he had a target planned. He’d only really come to scout out the area, having heard reports of another of the Devil’s grandchildren, a girl this time, in the area. He needed to find out where she spent her time, where would be easiest to corner her. This was no ordinary job after all, and he couldn’t afford it to go wrong.
Still, he could try to take this storm demon down, he felt relatively confident of that. In fact, he was just about to step in and get involved when he noticed a strange hooded figure disappearing into an alley. Could that be the one he was looking for? His instinct told him to follow.
She was the more important job, and she’d certainly carry higher pay were he the one to eliminate her. Someone else could deal with the storm demon having a tantrum; he had far bigger fish to fry.
Imagine being the first demon hunter to net a Morningstar.
So he waited for a few moments before following her. Rigel allowed the darkness to engulf him too, staying at a distance behind the girl and ducking into the shadows whenever she turned around. She seemed to wander without any particular goal, which was inconvenient. If she’d been going somewhere at least that would be something he could work with when it came to figuring out how to trap her.
Eventually she stopped and had an exchange with some man, Rigel ducking behind a corner to remain unseen while he listened to them converse. She seemed awfully confident, didn’t she? Cocky, even. She certainly wasn’t afraid of being out here.
This had to be the one he was looking for.
As she moved on, Rigel followed, taking a note of the bar. It was one of his usual drinking spots, and at least he knew she’d passed it. She would likely do so again.
Eventually she’d gotten deep enough into the network of alleyways that, by now, Rigel knew so well, that it felt safe for him to confront her. Normally he’d come up with an elaborate plan and take her down days later but from what he’d seen he might not even have to. If he could get rid of her now, all the better. It was riskier to tail her for a long time, it wouldn’t have taken too long for her to realise and then he would have lost the element of surprise.
Besides, he couldn’t be sure this was the girl he was looking for; her eyes were always covered. There was only one way to find out if he’d chosen the right target.
Which was why he stepped out of the shadows and spoke up to the girl as she walked, her back to him. Rigel was a lot of things, but he wasn’t unjust. He didn’t like to attack his prey from behind. Some said he shouldn’t give them a chance to fight back, but it felt better to Rigel to give them at least a chance at a fair fight.
“You really shouldn’t be out here on your own,” Rigel tutted “bad things happen to people out here when they’re alone.”

After the man had bid the girl ado, he had glanced at Rigel, seeming to recognize him. Glancing at him, before shaking his head and flicking the cigarette to the ground, pondering back into the bar.
For her own, Val made quick work of pondering. She often would do so at home too. Pondering blankly through the halls, anxiety was a danger. Even now the shadows seemed to lap at her feet the deeper she got into them. Not that they lifted, no, it was because she walked deeper into shadows, eager to remain out of the light. None of her powers were active at the time.
It would be much better to be seen as a normal demon, than to be seen as a very rare, very unpredictable, very unknown type of demon. She was smart enough to know that.
Plus, once you unleashed a beast, it was hard to control. She had been stepping further, planning on taking the bridge out of town, maybe head to the vampire’s hideout. Surely they’d take her in?
She paused in her steps, slowing slightly when she heard a voice. Her breath caught, the steam from the breaths in the cool air disappearing. Bracing herself, she turned ever so slightly, glaring at the man through the shades. The Hood was down, ebony hair falling in cascades over her shoulders. A standoff, it was.
She seemed to process his words, a small smile flickering to her face, as she glanced down, crossing her arms. She couldn’t fight the laughter in her voice, such an ironic statement, “Yeah, everywhere you go, creatures hunt one another.” Because she knew, she knew what a monster hunter looked like. She wasn’t wrong though, vampires hunted humans (well, sometimes), humans hunted creatures, demons and angels had their whole rivalry. No where was safe anymore.
A glance at the moon, at the clouds, breathing in the cool air. She had seen many encounters, though she hadn’t had one like this yet. With any luck, he had no idea who she was, how would he? Maybe he could have a vague idea, but nothing much more for sure. Not her name, not her powers.
These hunters never knew the names of their victims, did they? They just killed, all because it got them money, because of a war from 28 years ago.
“I have places to be though,” a switching of the truth, she could be anywhere but here, she didn’t need to be anywhere, she was ignoring his threat it would seem, “And I’d hate to see bad things happen to you.”
As she had turned back towards him, all through her speeches and words, she had let her eyes scan for an escape behind those shades she wore. If he couldn’t see her eyes, he’d have no right to kill her. The eyes were proof, and it was too dark to see beyond the darkened lenses.
None of that accounted for the terror inside of her, the constant thrum in her heart. She had learned to control her emotions as a child. She might not be as good at it as her elder sister was, because Jade was so much better at control, but she knew the basics. Keep a relaxed stance, not too tense, convince yourself things are fine, even when they aren’t.
Laz had taught her a few lessons too. She wouldn’t attack this man first, especially if there would be no need for it, but she wouldn’t lay down and die for him either. It was a stand still. Sadly for Val, she had always learned to mask, but not much in acting. She wasn’t about to start attempting to be helpless to save skin. Instead, she allowed a scoff to escape her, “You know, preying on young girls at night is messed up. I sure hope you don’t make a habit of this.”

Deyanira Ladouceur had never expected her life (well, to be accurate, her death) to take the path it had. The vampire queen had gotten as far as she had by her strength, ambition and iron will. Which was impressive because she’d been around even longer than iron. At least, so she claimed. She was never one to share her age but everybody knew she was old, very old. Whether she was as old as she claimed was hotly debated - though never in the queen’s earshot.
She was known for being elegant and mysterious, sure. She was known for being as cold-blooded in some moments as she could be sweet in others. She was known for taking young vampires into her court. But what she was by far best known for was smuggling.
What, did people think vampires got all those fancy gothic castles and mansions by sitting around on their butts and letting the bank give them interest? No, because the interest rates were shitty, for one thing. No, they worked for what they had. And Nira was the best in the business; had never been caught yet, and she’d been doing it for hundreds of years.
Sure, the monster hunters had found one of her shipments once, but they’d rapidly changed handlers and... dealt with those who had let their shipment be discovered. Nira wasn’t afraid to punish those who did things like that. Sure, one was allowed to make mistakes. But if the demon hunters had been able to track the shipment? That mistake could have cost Nira and the entire court their lives and she wasn’t about to let that happen.
The stakes (pun intended) were too high.
The queen had been busily discussing the next shipment with her court when a young vampire entered the room to inform her that Estrid had arrived.
Nira was close to Estrid’s family, had been for a long time. As such Estrid came to stay on occasion; though she was human, Nira trusted her implicitly when it came to court business, and she made sure the rest of the court did too.
Excusing herself from the group of vampires, she thanked the one who’d informed her of the human’s arrival. Blonde hair bounced and contrasted with her deep red dress as she walked, or rather floated. Nira had spent an embarrassing amount of time perfecting that walk and she was kind of proud of it to be honest. Once she came to the door, through which she could hear Estrid calling, Deyanira pulled it open to reveal the human on the other side, her pinkish-goldish eyes brightening at the sight of her.
“Estrid, dear! Come in, come in.” the vampire woman smiled as she stepped aside, gesturing for the girl to step inside.
Once she had entered, the vampire closed the door behind her and led the way through the labyrinthian hallways of the building she and her court had made their home in. She knew her way around instinctively after all these years but even still she found new routes through the place sometimes.
With Nira in the lead it didn’t take long for them to reach the room Deyanira had just excused herself from. The woman resumed her seat among the other vampires and gestured towards an empty chair beside her. None of the other vampires would dare object to having Estrid around and at Nira’s side. The queen would not take kindly to it if they did. Besides, Estrid was so likeable the rest of the court loved her anyway. Mostly.
“Come, join the court,” Nira suggested, her tone smooth and welcoming “we were just discussing business.”
But it was time for a new topic, she knew. And a far more important one for the survival of herself and the rest of the court. After all, it was all over the news that day and the queen knew for a fact it would probably be all the rest of the vampires in the room could think about. It was a delicate and difficult topic, but one didn’t get to live as long as Nira had by shying away from hard conversations.
She sat a little straighter in her seat, looking down for a moment as she smoothed her dress. She didn’t need to smooth it, but she needed a moment to prepare and collect herself. She needed to have her usual confidence and poise. They looked up to her, and fear was not an option.
“My friends, I’m sure the events of last night have all come to your attention, the young demon who was killed. These monster hunters are becoming more brazen and stronger than ever, and they’re coming for our kind too. Already are. We need to protect the newborns by bringing them into our court; they might be more unpredictable and bloodthirsty than the rest of us but if they don’t have protection those are the very things that will get them killed. And if we don’t have newborns then our kind will be vulnerable. They can pick us off until we dwindle to nothing.”
That was her first point.
“Secondly, I wish to remind you all that you will be protected as long as you remain with me and the court. I cannot guarantee your safety out there. I suggest we increase defences here, double down on the security of the shipments to make sure they aren’t detected, and have people keep their ears to the ground with news of newborns so we can bring them in. Nobody, and I mean nobody, goes anywhere alone.”
Sure, some might say that they should take the fight to the monster hunters but that would be foolish. Nira didn’t have enough people in her court to do that, and she couldn’t coordinate an attack with every vampire in the area. She didn’t even think that would be enough. No, they couldn’t do that. Their best bet was to lay low like they had been doing for thousand of years. That was what had led to them surviving so long, becoming so powerful. Being careful.
She wouldn’t be responsible for the deaths of her people. She’d gotten them through the war, she could get them through this. And she wouldn’t let them die like they had in the war.

Amidst the court of the vampires, was a golden eyes vampire with longer hair, darkened skin, and golden necklace around his neck. The man also had a wine glass in hand, mostly for the aesthetic, but also because why not?
When the man, who didn't appear much older than 20-30, heard the ringing of the doorbell, he quite literally bounced up in excitement, turning to one of the other vampires around him with a cheeky grin.
Yes, it was all gloom or whatever with demons dying. It was sad, yes, but he had seen so much sadness and betrayal in his life and undead life, he didn't fret much over it. Fretting over the death of others was too bothersome (and sad, very sad. This comes from the same vampire that probably cried when Mufasa died in Lion King). Not to be mistaken with his ability to work, Hugo was an absolutely sneaky little bastard, and was loyal to a fault to his queen and clan.
And apparently, the lovely human couple with the adorable kid who was growing up much too fast. Little Estrid reminded him of his own self, back when he was alive. Strangely curious to a fault, always having a book near, maybe not a nosy (or maybe just better at hiding it).
The queen had left to retrieve the girl, and all the while Hugo practically vibrated in his seat. There was so much to show Estrid! He had found this turtle a few days ago, surely she'd love to look at the animal he'd lovingly named "Turtle", not after it's species, but after that chocolate humans liked so much.
When Estrid returned with Nira, he started exaggeratedly waving. He was smiling, though he glared at Nira for a moment, before addressing the tiny human again, "Don't mind her, she always discusses business."
It made her a good mother to the brood of vampires, but it made things incredibly boring sometimes. He liked Alex, who was fun-loving (and probably to blame for Hugo's absolute fascination in partying), and he did love Nira, but all this talk of gloom was upsetting and they shouldn't upset their guest.
But he understood too, he waited until the queen said her piece before dipping his head slightly. Obviously Nira probably didn't mean him, since he spotted the vampires, Hugo had made it his apparent goal to be a permanent thorn in her side. He was classically near her or Alex or one of the other vamps.
"Completely understandable," he started, tapping his fingers on the grand table before them, "But we should also rejoice in the company of our guest, she surely deserves a tour," he pointed out, apparently blowing off Nira's words or deciding they didn't apply to him anymore because he bothered everyone else as it was. "We barely ever have guests anymore," he added on, golden eyes flickering with mischief already.

Raven Morningstar, third in line to the throne of demons, a fire demon halfbreed, and the second most recent runaway from Hell, was currently blowing soft flames into her hands to keep warm. Even though it was not the coldest it could be on earth, Raven was still shivering, her hands taking the worst of the freezing air.
But, these were little sacrifices when it came to finding her sister. Her loveable, impulsive, foolish baby sister who had decided to run away to earth. Absolutely the worst place a demon could go to hide and be safe. But, it was her sister, and Raven intended on bringing her home.
Even if she had to drag her back herself.
She'd been searching for days. Not that it was a drag to be back on earth after so many years but she didn't get to enjoy her time. She didn't get to see how the seasons changed for a colder time of year, or see what had changed in the time that she had been away. Even if the cooler air was unbearable sometimes.
"Run!"
Screams caught Raven's attention as she walked. A large group of humans was running in the direction that she had come from. Running from something. Raven watched them confused as they stumbled over each other and pushed past her. Fear in their eyes.
Then she heard the thunder rumbling angrily above her. She was blind to it before, her own thoughts too loud to hear the unnatural storm. Lightning fell in one congregated spot.
If she knew storms, she knew they didn't act like this. And if she knew her demons...
"We need a Hunter!" Some screamed as they pushed past Raven, nearly knocking her over. Panic beat through her heart as she heard those words. It wasn't her sister but that was still one of her people. He deserved a chance before everyone just aimlessly killed them off.
The princess ran towards the scene, pushing against anyone that ran into her. Screaming for people to move out of the way so she could get there. And once she did, she stopped in front of the scene in front of her. A dead brute and an angry storm.
She jumped back when a streak of light flashed near her feet. She narrowed her eyes at the demon, who's form blurred as if turning to mist. Which he was probably doing.
Stepping closer, Raven caught sight of his eyes. Glowing yellow with that shock of white hair being pulled in every direction. She realized she recognized him. One of the soldiers from the war. She usually saw photos of him with her father, both smiling brightly. But what was his name, what was his name...?
"Gaïos!"
The demon turned sharply towards the girl who had suddenly said his name. He scowled, a distorted and crackling growl coming from his throat as he raised his hand to attack again.
But Raven was faster, letting her hands burst into flames and staring him down, unafraid. She dug down deep finding her authoritarian voice that her grandfather insisted she use more often. This was the one time she was happy she learned it.
"Gaïos, correct? You served my father back during the war. Retired to Earth when it was safe?" She asked stretching one flaming hand out towards him. Ready to defend herself in case this didn't work and he attacked her anyway. "You should know me as Raven Alexandria Morningstar. One of your Princesses."
That seemed to give the demon pause. He looked at her closer trying to see if she was lying. But demons are incapable of telling lies. Fear and surprise crossed his face and the storm around him started to die. "Princess?" he asked quietly. He took a step towards her and the sadness in his eyes was clearer than it was before.
"That's right," Raven soothed, letting the flames die down. She gave him a gentle smile and took his hands in hers, selfishly grateful when they were warm. Gaïos bowed his head to her, but Raven lifted his face and gave him a sincere look. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
There was a quiet moment between them before sirens could be heard in the distance. Raven grabbed his hands tightly again. "You can't stay here. They're calling for a Hunter, go home it's not safe here. Home home. Ask to see the Queen she'll help you," Raven explained quickly. With a sad smile she finished her instructions with "Tell her that Raven sent you."
Gaïos nodded quickly and squeezed the girl's hands tightly before letting go and starting to back up. "Thank you," He muttered. "I'm sorry, Princess."
"Go run!" She urged in a hiss. She watched him run from the scene of the crime before turning on her heel and going the opposite direction, hoping for his safe return back to Hell.
She kept running until she was lost in an entangled web of alleyways. The smell of faint smoke in the air as she came upon the bar. Raven sighed heavily and went to lean against the wall next to the door. She closed her eyes as she inhaled and opened them when she exhaled a sigh, watched her breath fog the air and dissipate despite it not being cold enough to do that.
"Come on, Val, where are you?"

Estrid couldn’t help but give the vampire Queen an excited grin when she opened the door. “Hey Auntie”, the teen replied, giving Nira a wave as she entered what was essentially a castle or mansion. She would have given the much older woman a hug, but she figured Nira wasn’t in the hugging mood, even if she was excited to see her.
Plus, hugging a vampire was the weirdest thing ever. Walking corpses tended to be surprisingly cold and all.
The teen followed Nira through the hallways of the building, ogling at all the decorations she passed and occasionally lagging behind to inspect whatever caught her interest. Sure, she shouldn’t be as excited as she was, given the fact she’d been over at their house many times while growing up, but she still couldn’t help it. She wondered what stories the objects told, or where the court of vampires had gotten them in the first place. Though, once the girl realized she was going to be left behind by the queen, she quickened her pace. She could ask about them some other time.
Once they reached the meeting room, Estrid stood in place next to Nira, giving the other vampires a little sheepish wave. By the looks of things, they were in the middle of something important.
“Hope this wasn’t a bad time,” she said, sitting down in the chair right next to Nira before passing a glance over to Hugo. The golden eyed vampire seemed just about ready to bust out of his chair to greet her, which was nice to see. Most of the vampires in the room were alright with her being there, save for a couple of members at the other side of the room.
One of the vampires who seemed keen on giving her the stink eye was the warlock/vampire Leopold Stark. He seemed offended to be sitting at the same table as a “lowly human”, though despite his displeasure being pretty obvious at a glance, he made no comment about the subject. Guess he didn’t want to get on the queen’s bad side.
At least the vampires like Hugo and Alex were pretty nice to make up for it. When Hugo whispered over to her about Nira ‘always talking business, Estrid gave him a little playful shrug, “what can you do, am I right?” His insistence on being a thorn in Nira’s side could come off as a little irritating, but the teen enjoyed his antics. He didn’t take himself too seriously and he enjoyed taking her around the mansion to show her things that caught his eye.
It was better than sitting around in a meeting for hours on end.
Estrid nodded along to Nira’s words, feeling a little tense when she explained they needed to increase their defenses in order to keep everyone safe. She’d hate to think what could happen to any of them if they were caught out in the open with one of those Monster Hunters. While she didn’t loathe them as much as the vampires surely did, she could understand why everyone was getting so upset at the current events. It was just getting more dangerous for everyone.
“With all due respect, your majesty," Leopold spoke, "but I don’t see how long we can remain solely on the defensive. While I do agree that we need to be cautious, especially with all these murders going around, but what’s going to happen if those monster hunters choose to be more brazen in their efforts? How long until they-”
The vampire was cut off by Hugo's insistence on changing the subject, mentioning how they should celebrate their ‘guest’. He stared daggers at the other vampire, not doing much to hide his clear displeasure at the fact Hugo couldn’t take anything seriously.
Estrid let out an amused sigh at Hugo’s proposition. Honestly, she wouldn’t mind taking a walk around the grounds to clear her head of all this business talk. In response to his remark, the teen leaned over to Nira.
“I don’t see the harm in letting him do that,” she whispered to the Queen, “I’m sure you wouldn’t mind me distracting him so he’s out of your hair, right?” Estrid knew how things worked around the castle. The likelihood of Hugo making a mess of things just to get on Nira’s nerves was really high. Given how serious and important the discussion was, Estrid didn’t mind keeping an eye on him for the time being.

When she turned to him, hood down and shades covering her eyes, Rigel’s breath hitched for a moment, evident in the slight break in the fog of his breathing.
She was younger than he thought. Maybe in her teens? If she was an adult she was only barely so. He could try and convince himself otherwise but it was pretty obvious to him that she was an child. Maybe sixteen or seventeen.
He had to breathe away a phantom scent of blood as he tried to collect his thoughts.
His job was to kill, obviously. And he was meant to do so with no hesitation, no regrets. Don’t get tied up in the job, people always told him. It messed you up after a while if you did that. Just go in, take care of the cases, and go home.
Killing minors was something different. As twisted as it might seem for him to be drawing a line at who he was willing to murder, hurting children seemed wrong.
He had to remind himself, though, this was not a child. This was a demon. More importantly, this was a Morningstar. One couldn’t just leave them to walk around freely.
He couldn’t see her eyes, that was the problem, though the shades were perfectly obvious. It was clear what they were for, obscuring the eyes that would allow him to kill her. Her being an ordinary human was out of the question.
He had to kill her. He told himself (like he always did) that it wasn’t personal, it was just his job.
Though he of all people knew it was always personal.
And then came her words about hoping he didn’t make a habit of preying on young girls at night.
“I do when they walk around these alleys like they own the place, and when they walk around wearing sunglasses at night.” he pointed out as he stepped closer “It demeans us both to keep pretending, dancing around the issue. We both know what you are.”
She obviously wasn’t going to make the first move, which he honestly hated. It would make it a lot easier for him to reconcile to himself the fact that he had to kill this kid if she attacked him first.
Still, he draw a blade, but kept it relatively low, just casually by his side. He wasn’t going to make an attack just yet.
“If you insist on claiming to be human and want to walk on without a fight, then tell me your full birth name - first name, middle names and last name. If you identify yourself then I might be able to let you walk on.”
He knew demons couldn’t lie. They could find loopholes, but he’d tried to make sure she couldn’t do that.
He just needed to know for sure if she was a Morningstar. If she was, he couldn’t just let her go. They’d have his head on a platter.
If she was who she said he was - which, for both their sakes, he hoped was the case - she could go on without issue. But he doubted it. Nobody walked with such confidence through this area. She was wearing sunglasses at night.
And his gut instinct had told him to follow, and he always trusted his gut. He’d known there was something about this girl that had seemed off, and with the reports of a Morningstar in the area he’d had to follow this kid.
Still, Rigel was taking his time, trying to gauge the girl. He didn’t know what kind of demon she was yet, and it was too dangerous to just rush into a fight without that knowledge.
He did have with him some things that could help. He always carried weapons and the standard things he’d need for fighting various kinds of demons. For example, little bottle containers with charms from witches. Those were essential for taking down a storm demon.
In fact, Rigel had taken note of the fact that a storm had begun because of the demon from earlier but had seemed to end rather quickly. Had another demon hunter dealt with him already? Rigel was unsure, but he couldn’t think about that now.
Now he had to do his job, now his focus was on the kid.

Valeria glanced at him, frowning at him as he kept insisting on learning about her. He was smart, of course he was, he was a monster-hunter. She didn't have time to deal with him though, and if she attacked him, it would make him look justified in hunting her kind down.
Then again, if she could lead him a bit further out of town, perhaps she could handle that issue herself. She really didn't want to use her abilities on Earth, they could be much too dangerous, but the further it went on, the more her fear built up, the more her fingers itched to unleash that darkness, hide her in it's midst.
Though years of training to keep up the façade of hiding your emotions kept her firmly rooted in place for a moment, regarding the man with distaste on her visible features.
"Yeah, well maybe you shouldn't bother people who aren't doing anything wrong in the first place," she snapped back, stepping back when he stepped closer, "Kind of funny when walking around becomes a crime to your sort, my oh my, just kill me now oh brave warrior, since I'm a girl and I'm not scared, because that's unusual." drawn out words and hands placed on her hips.
Oh, he had a blade, this was just great. She glared at the weapon, stepping back again. Sure, maybe it wouldn't kill her but it would still hurt like a bitch. This little asshole was asking about her name, and she felt her irritation grow even more, like a blooming flower. "People call me Val, Lera, and Dori," which that wasn't a lie, her silly brother insisted on a number of nicknames for her, it almost hurt to think about. She missed Caspian and Laz and Jade and Raven...
Well, it was still not what he asked, but one had to be creative. She provided 3 common names, even if they weren't her birth names. Though they'd do little in regards to easing his suspicions. She couldn't le, but she wouldn't tell him her name either. She wasn't an idiot.
She had glanced up, that mysterious storm was gone, it made her fear for the demon at hand, but surely a hunter couldn't be that fast. Still, she had to assume what happened, her glare leveled with him. "Must be nice, making money off of killing, makes up for your lack of any real talent, doesn't it?" She stepped back again, continuous steps back, don't let him get any closer than he already was. "Imagine making your living on the death of others, you really are a desperate sob story, aren't you?"
Trying to get under his skin wouldn't really help, but it could help her vent and that would be better for the both of them. She was caring less and less about his safety as this interaction went on, however.
She had ready thrillers and stories of people who turned to crime out of a bad life, and if that was the case, making him lose his cool would twist the entire situation around. Distract him long enough to escape or to apprehend him herself. Or she could make the choice to let him attempt to achieve what he wanted, which would succeed in protecting others from her abilities.
No, death wasn't an option. Imagine if she died, leaving her siblings like that? She could never forgive herself. Sure she wanted them to be safe but...they didn't deserve that. No, this hunter would have to be taken care of, one way or another.
People like this man were hypocrites, thinking they were more important than others, humans were so clueless. So determined for fairness and not being killed due to being prey or for some goal of another species, but having no qualms on executing any creature that wasn't like them.
He seemed pretty cowardly as it was, not like the others who attacked with no warning. Glancing at him again, she turned around, already stalking back towards the darker, outer alleys of the city. One may call her stupid for turning her back on a hunter, but one also wasn't Valeria Pandora Morningstar, so their opinions didn't really matter to her.
"It's a nice night out," she commented, dryly, as if making some point. As if a storm demon hadn't been rampaging like a maniac. "And I'm not keen on wasting time, so," she looked ahead of herself again, stopping in her steps, "If you want to do anything, do it already, I'm not doing it for you."

Alex hadn't gone to today's meeting. He was busy wandering the halls helping out the rest of his brothers and sisters with tasks and shipments. He'd been busy the entire day, so much so that he didn't notice when someone showed up at the door the first time. But, the second time he was able to answer it.
When he opened the door, he found a man wearing all black and sunglasses covering his eyes. He stood around 6ft, several inches above Alex, and had a coldness to him. If Alex didn't know any better he'd think this was a fellow vampire. But, he did know better.
This one was a demon.
"Can I help you?" Alex asked leaning in the doorframe and raising an eyebrow. It wasn't often they had visitors of a different species. In fact, it was highly suspicious. And Alex was having none of it.
"I'm here to see your Queen. I have a matter to discuss with her," Damien explained hands still shoved in his pockets and his voice smooth and calm. There was no way to see his eyes behind the dark shades of the glasses. It was hard to even tell where exactly he was looking. "I'm an old friend."
Alex leaned forward narrowing his eyes at the strange demon in front of him and looked him up and down."How do I know you're telling the truth?"
Damien paused silently looking at the vampire in front of him as if he were trying to pull sense from his mind. But, when none came Damien just sighed tiredly and removed the sunglasses o his face. Giving Alex a hard and tired stare he opened his mouth again. "I physically can't lie."
That seemed to be good enough for Alex.
He led the demon to where Nira was having her meeting. He didn't bother announcing himself with a polite knock or anything. He just walked right in and started talking. If Nira yelled at him about it later then so be it.
"Hey mamma, you got a visito-"
He paused when he spotted Estrid. His face immediately lit up and he ran over to her wrapping her in a tight hug. She was his favorite little human. Even if she wasn't so little like before. "Neonata!" he cooed, pressing his cold nose to Estrid's face. "Figlia mia, mi sei mancato!"
Damien, in the meantime, was standing awkwardly in the room as Alex ran off. He watched the vampire run for the human and start coddling her and speaking fondly in Italian. The demon cleared his throat and stepped closer to the table that they were all sitting at.
"Good to see you again your Majesty," Damien began bowing his head to Nira respectfully. He knew better than to disrespect a vampire, especially the Queen of them all. "I wish I could be coming to you at better times but I have something... stressful to discuss. Can I have a moment of your time?" He asked.
Damien hardly glanced at the other vampires in the room. But, he wasn't unaware of them. He knew any one of them would be faster at attacking him than he would be trying to defend himself. Besides he didn't want everyone to know that the Morningstars were missing family members.
"Privately?"

After her moment on the wall, Raven stood and kept moving. She cupped her hands together and blew flames into her hands. She was shivering harder, even as she was trying to pull her coat tighter around her body. As she maneuvered through the alleyways, she raised her body temperature slowly. Trying to warm her body as the night only got colder.
Val couldn't have run off when it was the summertime? When Raven wouldn't literally be freezing slowly. Then again, she could have easily left the finding of the runaway princess to the guards and her mother's spies. Hell, Laz would have an easier time than she was.
But, Raven was stubborn and they were taking too long to start looking.
Moving down another alleyway, Raven heard voices. Normally she wouldn't think too much of it, she'd seen enough shifty characters during her search that she tended not to bother them. These voices, however, one of them sounded familiar...
"Val?" Raven asked quietly, poking her head around the corner. Sure enough, there was her baby sister. She was speaking with some man who was holding a blade. That didn't look so great now, did it?
"Val, for f*cks sake," Raven hissed to herself. Only day's away from home and Val has already gotten herself into a situation where someone was threatening her life. Raven leaned back from the alley and thought about her options.
She could run out there and attack the man, but she'd rather not have to kill a human or have a human kill her. She could try and trick him to get her sister out of there. That seemed like the safer option and the one she'd follow through with.
She tried to remember that trick Caspian taught her a while ago. Blinking her eyes rapidly, Raven managed to make her eyes look like a normal brown human color. How long she was able to hold the illusion she wasn't sure, so she needed to be fast.
"Valeria!" Raven said excitedly and ran towards her sister. She ran and pulled the girl into her arms in a tight hug. "I've been looking everywhere for you! Do you understand how worried we were?" She asked. She pulled away to hold her sister's face in her hands and look at her seriously. It was clear she was annoyed that Val had run off, but right now they needed to focus on getting out of this situation.
Turning to look back at the man now in front of both of them, Raven raised her eyebrows. "Who's your friend?" She asked. It was then that she really looked at who stood before them. This wasn't just some thief looking for a bit of money...
"Oh..." Shit. "A hunter."

Nira should have known that Hugo wouldn’t be paying any attention at all. She loved the young vampire, but he’d dedicated his entire afterlife to being a nuisance. Still, Deyanira couldn’t exactly blame him. It was alll affectionate anyway, but when so she was the one who’d made him a vampire. That could be a curse, and she wouldn’t have blamed him if he’d been as angry at her as she had been at the one who turned her.
Thankfully he wasn’t. At least as far as she knew.
Still, the queen felt it only fair to address Leopold first, who had been interrupted by Hugo.
”I understand your fear, Leopold, truly I do. But we have been in situations like this before, most recently only 28 years ago. I got us through that, I can do so again. Granted, we cannot stay on the defensive forever. But if we should ever hope to go on the offensive we need to make sure we are stable first defensively. Then we will start to prepare for the possibility of having to fight; but carefully. If they catch wind of us building up forces the hunters will try to nip it in the bud before we are ready. Ideally they shall not even realise what we are doing until it is too late.”
Then they could have the element of surprise. Ideally the hunters would think they were only just starting to build up forces and would attack thinking the vampires were weak. That would be the best outcome Nira could hope for.
She was just about to answer Hugo when Alex entered to inform her she had a meeting.
“Ah, thank you, Alex,” she’d responded
She hadn’t invited anyone, which was what was confusing, but it wasn’t too unusual for Nira to have visitors. It was simply more rare that these visitors hadn’t been summoned by the vampire queen herself.
She ignored Alex fawning over Estrid, as said visitor had approached the table with a greeting, bowing his head respectfully. She knew him; it was Damien, a demon. A spy for the demon court. Oh, they were awfully well-organised down in hell with that kind of thing.
He knew how to greet her with respect, they had met several times before and by this point he’d learned everything he needs to know when it came to how to behave around Deyanira. She never allowed disrespect.
When he asked to speak privately, Nira nodded her head slightly, clasping her hands in front of her.
“Certainly, Damien,” the queen agreed
She then turned her attention to the court, though she doubted most of them were paying attention, being too busy fussing over Estrid.
”I have matters to discuss with the visitor so for now our meeting is adjourned. Hugo, you may entertain our guest as you requested; Alex, why don’t you go with them, too?” she suggested
Not only did the woman think it would be good to let Alex also spend time with Estrid, considering his excitement at seeing the young human, but Nira also figured it might help to keep Hugo out of trouble a little bit.
She didn’t leave any time to argue, instead looking to Damien and nodding towards the doorway to indicate he should step out there. She followed him out, and soon led the way to a more private audience room. This was the room where Nira discussed matters that weren’t for the ears of the whole vampire court. Where perhaps only one individual was coming to her with a grievance or important information.
Like everywhere in the building, it was a beautiful room. Polished floors, walls hung with thick tapestries adorned with rich colours, threads of gold and silver glinting in the light. Lots of little artefacts and keepsakes displayed in various surfaces of the room. In any other house one would assume these old objects were fakes, but in this house it was more than clear that they were the genuine articles, collected by Nira and other vampires over the years.
She took a seat on one side of a small table of rich dark wood, with designs of lighter wood scrolling around the edges. Once she had seated herself and smoothed out her dress once again, she gestured that Damien should take the opposite seat.
“It is good to see you, Damien," she smiled, “my apologies for the chaos in the meeting room, we do not normally have guests and the court get rather distracted when we do.”
She was of course referring to Alex’s excitement at seeing Estrid, which she had noted had been perhaps a little unexpected for Damien. In fact, outbursts of emotion like that from vampires didn’t seem to be expected by many people, as much as it wasn’t true that vampires were all stoic and emotionless. Granted, Nira was a little more reserved herself, but that was besides the point.
“You said you have something stressful to discuss,” she recalled, frowning a little “what, pray tell, is the matter? It is most unusual for the court of Lucifer to request my assistance with something.”
While the two courts were friendly enough - especially with Nira’a work in the war - asking one another for help wasn’t something that usually happened. Generally they handled their own matters unless they absolutely had to. Which meant that something was probably very wrong indeed for Damien to have been sent (or for him to have chosen) to visit Nira and the vampire court

Rigel had little patience for this teenager and her attitude. Her insults didn’t bother him anyway; over the years he’d heard every insult in the book from these creatures.
This kid wasn’t any different, and her words wouldn’t make her any stronger. He didn’t want to have to kill a kid but if she wasn’t a human like she said she was - which was pretty much guaranteed at this point - he couldn’t afford to let her live. Especially if she was a Morningstar. No way could he let a Morningstar get away.
”Insult me all you want, kid, it doesn’t make you sound clever.” Rigel commented with a roll of his eyes “All you’re doing is wasting your breath.”
These demons were all the same. Manipulative, dangerous and infuriatingly difficult to get rid of. They seemed to think having some good snarky words to say would keep them alive and it never did.
She refused to give her name the way Rigel had asked, which seemed to completely confirm his thinking. No human would refuse to give their full name when asked by a monster hunter to make sure they weren’t a demon.
“Yeah, I thought so. You know, for creatures that can’t lie, you sure do try it a lot.” Rigel answered “Okay, let’s end this.”
He prepared himself to fight now, raising the blades and moving easily into an attack position. The movement was fluid, as if he’d done it a hundred times before. Which he had.
For the record I want you to know I don’t feel good about killing a kid. But I can’t let a demon go free, and your snarky little ass is really starting to make this easy for me.”
He was just about to make his move when he heard a voice shouting. A woman’s voice. Suddenly a girl rushed to the teenager’s side, who said her name. Valeria. That didn’t mean anything to him, unfortunately. He knew the Morningstars had children, but he didn’t know their names. He still couldn’t be sure.
But what he could be sure of was that there were now two demons. He was ill-equipped to fight both but he also doubted he could exactly walk away from this one either. Besides, he was unlikely to get a chance to take down both again. Not to mention the fact that if they were indeed Morningstars, if he wanted away now they’d have his head at work.
Despite his convictions about supernatural beings, sometimes he did hate his job. Of course it wasn’t easy making his living off death. But he couldn’t walk away now. Not this easily.
Even if he could leave the job, he was forever a hunter now. The demons and vampires knew his name, his face. And they’d get revenge for those he’d killed. Oh, make no mistake.
He was in this fight now, and his best chance of staying alive was to stay in it.
“Surprise,” he grinned as the older girl realised he was a hunter ”and now it looks like I’ve got two for the price of one. Who’s this then, your sister?”
He didn’t care anyway, because now he finally made an attack, moving for the protective older siblings first. She was a little closer, but he also needed to try and draw out the powers from both of them. See what kinds of demons they were so he could respond accordingly.
He’d seen siblings who weren’t the same kind of demon before, so he wasn’t banking on them both being the same type.

Hugo grinned at Nira as he waited for her to respond, but it fell at Leopold's nature towards Estrid. He felt a protective spark over the human girl, going to stand as Alex entered the room. He floundered a bit as Alex stole what Hugo himself wanted to do, but smiled a bit cheekily when the other vampire wrapped Estrid in a hug. The string of Italian was a bit lost to the French Vampire, so he just took to standing and pondering over.
Though, his golden eyes seemed to catch the demon, mouth floundering slightly at the presence of a demon in the Vampire court. That meant something must have been wrong, the Demons would never come if something wasn't. He glanced at Nira again, realizing that while the queen viewed him as a bit of a nuisance, he should probably actually help.
He nodded at Nira, wringing his arms around, giving the queen a comforting smile, "Of course maman,"and he took to looking over the court then, watching as vampires started dispersing.
He grinned as he turned to Estrid and Alex, pointedly looking at the human girl and offering up his arms for a hug, "Hello, petite génie," he commented, the old archaic French accent of his blended a bit with the more modern French terms, creating a soothing tone.
Whatever maturity took over him fell away to a look of worry cast in the direction Nira went, a haze of panic seemed to pass over his features, though like he had always done, he smiled, choosing to instead get Estrid to enjoy her time in the Castle. A brightness entered his gaze, smiling as he turned, a bit of chaotic energy in that cheery sweet mood, "I have a present for you, I had almost forgotten it!" He piped up, "But maybe I'll give it to Leopold instead if you're too slow, we all know he could use a better mood."
No, not in a million years would Hugo seriously give Leopold a gift like that. Of course he gave small gifts and pranks, but never anything like what he found.
Plus, if Alex was to come with them, it would be much more fun. Keeping Estrid as far from what scary stuff was happening outdoors, channeling that curiosity of hers away from chasing dangers. That would keep her alive.
Already, the demon took to exiting the room, heading towards his own chambers, a gentle tap from his steps as he kept a slow pace. Estrid was kind of like him, much more mature than he was all that time ago, and she had a very loving family. He loved her moms, platonically of course, they were so very sweet. They raised a good kid, and he quite enjoyed her company. She didn't see them as monsters, like people did out of the walls.
He already had a smirk working onto his face, looking at Alex as if trying to wordlessly initiate some chaotic event into being. Alex was pretty good at being a chaotic vampire as it was, Hugo got some of those habits of his own from the other vampire.

Accepting death wasn't really something Valeria had contemplated before. But now that it stood before her, in the form of this man, she felt like ice had settled into her veins. Behind shaded eyes, her indigo eyes flickered unsurely towards her hands. That plummeting feeling of fear was there, regret.
"I'd much rather waste my breath," she put out, careful to keep her voice steady and expression even, "Than to live like some parasite killing other people to make my own living."
Because you know what, if he was going to kill her, she wasn't going down like some damsel in distress when the villain tangled them up. "I bet you just love watching the light fade from our eyes, asshole," she bit out, remembering the statue that the storm demon had been mourning, possibly a victim of this man before her. Either way, he probably killed countless demons. Demons who when they died, stayed dead.
He agreed to end it, and so she already placed her hand over a very simple dagger she had been given by her beloved family. This man was a fool if he thought she'd be easy to kill, and even more of a fool for deciding to target her.
"Oh good, I've made your job easier," she replied sarcastically, raising her eyebrows behind those shades. "See you in he-"
In a defensive stance, her words cut off when she heard a voice that had her mouth gaping open in horror. Her shades knocked off her face and scattered to the ground as her sister pulled her into a hug. She was shocked, unable to bring her hands around her sister, but a soft smile worked onto her face against her better judgement, mixed with feeling of anguish that her sister was here and not safe at home.
She closed her eyes, feeling her heartbeat loud in her ears now. She had been so scared that she'd never see Raven again, and for a moment all fears about running away and hunters faded for a moment.
When Raven grabbed her face, Val was shocked to see more human-like eyes, Val didn't really know how to do that. Caspian went up here, but Valeria had never really thought about coming up herself. With her abilities, it seemed like a terrible ideas. But after...
Her own violet eyes met her sister's miraged ones, before the unnatural eyes fell away, looking away as reality settled back in place. "You shouldn't be here, Raven," she commented, already pushing herself away. It had been a while since she saw any of her siblings, and she missed them all dearly, but she had no idea why they wanted her back. Not after everything.
Though whatever guilt or emotions that showed on her face quickly masked back into a look of sardonic judgement, swinging her gaze at Rigel before glancing back at Raven, hissing out a quick "No shit" at her sister.
For the sake of never knowing when to stop, apparently, she hissed out then, "No, seriously, maybe he's lost and was asking for directions with a knife."
A quick glance at the hunter made her realize he was much closer, and not only that, he was making an attack. But not for Val, but for Raven. And that shit? That wasn't going to fly.
Pushing Raven despite her younger age, Val finally unsheathed her own smaller blade, remembering back on when she was taught to fight by parrying the Hunter's attack. She wasn't stupid, he probably wanted them to unleash their powers in a flurry of protective rage, but Val had been taught to never reveal her powers ever to a human, much less a Hunter. So she was fighting in that way she was taught by both Lazarus and her family in general.
"You really are an idiot." her words were crisp and annoyed, if anything, "You should keep your eyes on one target at a time, did they even teach you anything in whatever-the-f*ck training system you idiots go to?" She let her own blade offset his own slightly, taking her own chance to duck and counter-attack to his left, slashing at him with her own blade.
Because, really, what else was she going to do? Sit there and twiddle her thumbs and have to hear to his stupid monologs all over again? No thanks.

Estrid glanced over at the door when the two new figures walked in, smiling when she saw Alex. He seemed to notice her right away and quickly ran over, giving the younger girl a massive hug once he got close. While she appreciated the gesture, it always felt weird to get a hug from the embodiment of a walking corpse.
“Aw, Alex, it’s good to see you too,” she smiled, a bit awkwardly as she managed to get one of her arms free and pat the vampire on the head with it, letting him know that was ready to get put down now.
Once she was released, she looked over at the other figure who’d entered. Who was he? She didn’t recognize him at all, and judging by his eyes, he wasn’t a vampire.
“Is that guy a demon?” Estrid whispered excitedly to Alex, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as the guy spoke with Nira, “I’ve never met one before. Do you think he has cool powersss?” She couldn’t help contain her enthusiasm at the potential chance of meeting a demon. “You don’t think he’d mind if I asked him-”
Though, once it became clear that he was there on serious business and was only going to speak to the queen privately, Estrid’s face shifted to one of disappointment, “aw, but I wanted to talk with the demon…” She wanted to know what was going on, what sort of urgent news that only the queen could hear. Maybe it was scary, but it sure as h*ll ate her up inside wondering what they could possibly be talking about.
She looked at Hugo as he came over, giving him a hug when he offered. Still weird, but she was used to it at that point.
“A gift, what kind of gift?” The human asked, puzzled but also intrigued. She wanted to know what was being hidden from her, but darn it, a present sounded exciting too. Maybe it would be best to see what he wanted to show her before she did some investigating of her own…
Estrid hurriedly followed Hugo down the hallway already trying to think of what her plan could be when it came to that private meeting Nira was in. She’d just have to figure out where they went, and she’d have it figured out.

Damien followed the Queen through the castle and kept his hands folded behind his back as they walked. He took note of the decorations and vampires that he passed. Doorways and where they might lead, hallways that seemed to span on forever. It was the habit of a spy. Find fast exit ways and find secrets.
Coming to the private room, Damien sat where he was told to and smiled gently at Nira's words. "Believe me, chaos is something I know well..." He mused shaking his head at the thought. He was a glorified babysitter for seven half-breeds and their tired chaotic father. He had an idea of what Nira was dealing with. "The human is new though."
When Nira opened up the conversation in his direction, Damien's smile faltered and he leaned back in his chair with a heavy sigh. "I'm going to be very blunt so forgive me in advance," he began. Rubbing his face, the demon took a deep breath and leaned forward, back into the proper position with his face hard as stone, and began his explanation.
"I have two dumbass princesses that ran away from home. One went chasing after the other and now it's my job to bring them back." He said folding his hands in front of him on the table and looking Nira right in her ethereal eyes. "You know how eager some of the Hunters up here are for a Morningstar's head. I fear one of them my get over ambitious, disregard the laws set in place, and take their lives before I can stop them.
"I'd rather that didn't happen," Because I love those idiots. That was the part he didn't add. It wasn't knowledge anyone really needed to know. Nor was it that important to the situation at hand. "I was hoping you'd heard something about them, your majesty," he offered politely. She was still a Queen and deserved the respect of one.
"If you can help in any way, the Demon crown would thank you immensely," Damien finished with a slight incline of his head to the side. He held his breath slightly, hoping that the Vampire Queen had some sort of knowledge about the princesses.

The vampire queen smiled in return to Damien's comment about knowing chaos. Of course he did. Nobody knew it better than those in the demon court. She had heard about the chaotic seven Morningstar children. Hybrids were always a messy business, one never knew what one would get. It seemed that demon-human hybrids had quite the propensity for being troublemakers, if what Deyanira had heard about the princes and princesses of hell could be trusted.
"Oh, the human?" Nira repeated with a glance towards the door, half-wondering what the child was getting up to with Hugo and Alex "the child's family are friends of mine, she is under my protection."
And she was a lucky girl to be under the vampire queen's protection, indeed. These were uncertain times and there were far more dangerous things in the world than Deyanira.
She suspected Damien knew Estrid wasn't there for feeding purposes, though. Not from the way the other vampires had acted around her. Not to mention that had they wanted Estrid for that she wouldn't have made it into the council's meeting room.
Nira had many, many years - far too many, really - of practice in controlling herself when it came to her thirst. She remembered what it was like to be a newborn, of course, but now being in the presence of humans was little problem. It wasn't so for the youngest vampires under her protection, those who were still dangerous and could be overtaken by the powerful thirst for blood. Whenever Estrid visited she kept her away from those individuals.
She listened to Damien with interest as he explained about the princesses. The queen templed long, slender fingers before her mouth as she thought about his words. She was sure one of the vampires she led had mentioned something of this nature to her.
"I regret that I have not seen your princesses," Deyanira began "but I have seen their brother. His Highness...graced the court with his presence for a brief time on his travels, though that was some time ago."
Caspian was every bit as chaotic as Nira had expected him to be. A whirlwind was more like it. He was more accustomed than his siblings to earth, as a manipulation demon hybrid, though the demon court rarely seemed to know where he was. he travelled from place to place frequently.
"He mentioned something about a hunter, though he seemed unconcerned about it," Nira continued "which brings me to my next point."
The fourth in line to the demon throne had stopped for a little while with the vampires because he knew they were close with the demon court and would protect him with very little in the way of questions. The vampire queen had been paying more attention to Caspian than he realised, though, and had successfully gleaned that he had been experiencing a little trouble with a demon hunter.
"While I have not seen Their Highnesses, I have been monitoring the hunters of late." the queen explained "I fear that they may know of their presence here on earth, for I believe they have reports in the city of a Morningstar girl. Only one - so perhaps they are as yet unaware of the other. Unfortunately I know no more."
She monitored the hunters mainly for information about vampires; if they were after any members of Nira's court, if they'd caught on to her smuggling operation, if there were any newly turned vampires that Nira needed to take under her wing.
Nira sat straight now in her chair, moving her hands to fold them neatly in her lap. She might not have any more in the way of information, but she could still offer some help.
"You are welcome to say here and wait for news, Damien." she offered "and I could send some of my vampires out to find more information in the meantime. Once you know where they are, we can get you there unnoticed. Smuggling is my business, after all."

"Was it the comment?" Raven asked pouting and taking a couple of steps backward. She pushed Val with her and kept her gaze split between the weapons and the Hunter's face. "I promise I didn't mean to say it like that," she continued to explain, her hair falling in her face and her breath coming out a little quicker.
She needed to get somewhere warm pretty soon.
Blinking rapidly, her iris's went back to their normal snake-like red. Piercing, angry, and protective as she shielded her sister. "Waste of a perfectly good trick too..." Raven mumbled to herself in annoyance.
When her sister spoke, Raven scowled and briefly turned her attention to Val. She had the audacity to scold her after all the trouble she's caused? "Neither should you, you idiot," Raven hissed flicking the girl in the temple with her finger. Enough to string and that's it. Though she'd like to drag the teenager back to Hell... "I'll deal with you later."
Of course, the Hunter would take this opportunity to attack them. Raven's attention was diverted and her guard slightly lowered. But, Val was there and stepped in front of Raven to protect her.
The fire demon took only a moment to access the situation before springing into action. Raven spun around her sister and aimed a kick for the man's head while he was distracted.
"Back off. We're not doing anything illegal!"

”Ironic that you call me a parasite,” Rigel had responded to the child “that seems a far more accurate term for vampires, or the demons that take human souls.”
He didn’t speak further to her comments about him loving seeing the light fade from their eyes. In some ways, he didn’t. Of course he felt guilt sometimes. Other times he felt euphoria, satisfaction that he was taking revenge for things lost. Most of the time though, he felt nothing at all.
Which was perhaps the most frightening part of all.
He had watched the sisters bicker with disinterest before launching his attack. The younger girl got in the way, stepping between Rigel and the older demon, spurting out some teenage rubbish he barely listened too.
“Keep talking, kid,” he snarled back “see how it works out for you.”
It was always the ones who talked big who went down hard in Rigel’s experience. This kid would be no different, or at least she shouldn’t be. Having the sister around complicated things, undoubtedly. But at least he knew what they looked like now.
Talking of the sister, she made to kick his head, which he was able to dodge with relative ease. Unfortunately, dodging her meant that he wasn’t quite fast enough to avoid the attack of the younger sister, leading to a painful gash on his abdomen and a hiss of pain from Rigel.
It hurt, but he had plenty of scars. One more to add to the collection was not a big deal.
The older demon protested that they weren’t doing anything illegal, but her words had little effect on Rigel, his expression unchanged and blade still at the ready.
“Sorry, love, I’m not the judge or jury,” the man answered “just the executioner.”
Their very presence was a threat, that much he knew, whether they were doing anything illegal or not. He was authorised to get rid of them. More than that, it was his duty.
Besides, he had his own reasons for wanting rid of monsters from the world.
So he made another attack, deciding not to give the girls a chance to team up and coordinate an attack. He had to do his best not to give them weak spots to exploit.
Annoyingly, still no indication of what type of demons they were. Which put him at a disadvantage for knowing how to beat them. That was why the next attack the man made was focused on the younger sister rather than the older; if he could tug at the older sister’s protective instincts that could cause her to reveal her powers to him. It was his best chance.
Normally he’d try to move more, maybe try and attack her from the sides or the back, but with two opponents that wasn’t going to be possible. Besides, he had to try and keep tabs on both sisters.
The best he could do was feint. So he did, moving to make it appear as if he’d be swinging from the left before rapidly switching to come at the girl from the right, going straight for her stomach.
He had to end this as soon as possible, at least take down one of the sisters. He couldn’t fight two demons at the same time on his own.

Val had snorted at her sister, pushing her away when the elder sibling flicked at her forehead. Rolling her eyes at Raven’s antics, she had turned back to Rigel, her attention on the hunter as the fighting ensued.
”Keep talking tough, Hunter, see how well it ends up for you,” she mocked, words dangerous, sharp.
She made her attack, the scratch she inflicted caused her to let off a victorious laugh. Pride filling her bones at the attack. Laz would be so proud of her. Father may be as well, and Cas would probably make some stupid joke about why you shouldn’t mess with a Morningstar.
“Not so high and mighty now, are you, Hunter?” The question rolled off easily, as she took a deep breath, fury biting just beneath her fingertips, powers begging to be seen.
Parrying, her small blade in her hands still, as she made sure to watch Raven carefully. Her elder sister, who had come all this way to look for her. Guilt ate at Val’s bones, and fear, too. She didn’t want to hurt her family. She didn’t want to hurt anyone.
That was a lie, actually, so she’d never be able to vocalize such a thought. She wanted to hurt this man.
Speaking of the man, her thoughts were stolen from family when he went to make another attack. He seemed to go one direction, and she made to parry in the other. A grand mistake, a fatal one. One that was instinctive.
Staggering slightly from the attack, Valeria took in a deep breath, her fingers flying to her side. A blooming darkness had built quickly, dripping in thick rivulets. Her violet eyes which had been full of retribution and humor earlier had ran into shock and fear. Anger still present, her eyes rose back up to Rigel.
Underestimating one’s own wound was a bit of a bad idea. Under the adrenaline and fear, the pain seemed duller, shocking, but dull. After barely acknowledging the wound, the young girl lunged forward to make an attack at the Hunter. Obsidian staining her own blade, her fingers. When she stepped on her right leg, her body crumbled clumsily, her aim off center as she tipped forward.
Her balance had went first, she still had slashed at Rigel, but ended up staggering in place. As a small bead of the liquid built at her mouth, the corner, her frightened eyes locked on her sister. She didn’t feel like some runaway person right now. She was scared.
“Raven,” The whimper was soft, and Valeria sunk to the ground despite her own stubbornness. A weakness that the stubborn girl never tended to show. Tears filling her eyes despite her best efforts. ”Raven, it hurts.”
Hands clutching over the large gash, as if the actions would stop the flow, the river escaping.
As if doing so would save her from her Hunter.
