Alex didn't want to let go of his little human. He adored the girl so much he just wanted to hug her for the rest of her life. Because, he would never die and she was mortal. He always greeted her as if he hadn't just seen the girl the other day.
Reluctantly, he let go and pouted slightly as Estrid's attention was pulled to the demon he had brought into the room with him. Alex followed her gaze and listened to her questions, only able to really answer one of them.
"Yes he's a demon," he confirmed, shoving his hands into his pants pockets and thinking over some of her questions. He also wondered what kind of demon he was. And who was he to request the Queen's audience alone? "Kinda serious for one if you ask me," he grumbled disapprovingly.
He didn't get much time to say anything else because, Hugo had moved on to a new topic. Both Alex and Estrid seemed to direct all their attention to the other vampire at the mention of a gift. The demon completely forgotten about for the moment.
"A present?" Alex asked quietly, his brow furrowing and his head inclining to the side a bit. He stood there quietly contemplating what Hugo could have possibly gotten the human. Then, he gasped quietly and nodded in understanding. "Oh, right! The gift!" He agreed excitedly.
In truth, he still had no idea what Hugo was talking about.
"We'll catch up with the Queen later then," Alex whispered to Estrid quietly. He placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her forward gently to follow Hugo. "Find out what they're talking about hm, il mio amore?"

Damien scowled at the lack of news of the princesses. The scowl only deepened when another Morningstar child was mentioned. He sighed again and pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes tightly. He could feel the headache coming.
"I have a feeling you're talking about Prince Caspian..." he suggested tiredly. His entire body felt tired and annoyed. He'd like to go home and sleep for a good few days. At least until his Queen called on him again. "I'd personally like that idiot to come home as well and stop getting in trouble. However, he frequents earth more often than these two so he is of no issue to me at this moment. I do apologize for any damage he may have caused you though."
At the suggestion of her subjects going out to find information and letting him stay with them, Damien brightened slightly. As much as a gloomy spy could brighten up that is. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble," he answered hopefully. Crossing one leg over the other. "The faster I find them the better," he muttered to himself. He seemed to keep saying that to himself.
As jaded as he tried to be, he extremely cared for all of the Morningstar children. He wouldn't know what to do if he lost one of them, especially on his watch. He had practically helped raised them...
Looking up at the Queen, Damien stood and bowed respectfully to Nira. "Again, forgive me for coming at a time when you yourself are dealing with something urgent," he apologized. "I'll leave you to your business. Excuse me," He pardoned himself and started towards the door to wait for more news.

When Raven's attack missed, she growled in annoyance. Even more so when the man called her 'love'. Who did he think he was? Who did he think she was? She wasn't a child that needed coddling or reprimand, she was a Morningstar.
"Don't call me that!" She hissed ducking out of his way and preparing to launch herself at him again. She was angry now. Not enough to risk her abilities being revealed but pretty close. "Don't call me anything outside of my name!"
Just as she was about to aim another attack, Val got in her way and stumbled and stopped. Clutching at her abdomen and looking down at the blade in her hand. Time seemed to go slower when Raven realized her sister was bleeding. That black blood that was unique to demons spilling onto the ground and pooling in Val's hands.
"Val?" Raven muttered quietly as she reached for her sister. She attempted to catch her when the girl stumbled to the ground. The princess caught the sight of blood on her lips and felt her heart tighten. Her stomach flipped over and over again in fear.
Raven knelt down next to her sister and brushed the hair out of her face. She gave her a reassuring smile and squeezed her hand tightly. "Hey, hey, hey, I'm gonna take care of you. Like always, ok? I'm gonna take you somewhere safe," she muttered quietly. "Just hold on. Can you do that for me?" She asked.
She didn't wait for an answer though. Her attention immediately went to the Hunter watching them. Her heart was pounding in her ears as she stood and started stalking towards Rigel. "I told you to back off," she warned glaring at him. condensation wasn't coming from her breath anymore. This time it was steam escaping his lips. Warming the air in front of her and giving her temporary relief.
"Whatever ego you're trying to boost for yourself won't be done here. I'm not going to let you touch her again," She hissed angrily. Small flames pulled at the corner of her eyes and her pupil's narrowed even more than they already were. Her hands burst into flames and grew in size and power as she stood in front of him, poised to defend her sister.
"I'm not opposed to killing in self-defense..." she trailed off before, throwing various fire attacks at the human.

Some part of Rigel was actually surprised his attack on the kid had been successful, he watched with a numb kind of surprise as the girl went down and called out for her sister. Like he’d said to the girl before, he didn’t feel good about killing a kid. But a job was a job after all.
“Raven, Raven it hurts.”
Rigel blinked then, the voice merging into a different one in his ears. A child’s voice calling out, but a little younger than this demon girl.
“Maylis!” the voice shouted “Maylis, please!”
He smelled blood, but he knew it wasn’t coming from the injuries either he or Val had sustained. This one was different.
The whole thing was over in an instant, and he suddenly found himself facing the sister. He noticed the steam emanating from her mouth as she spoke, he noted the flicker of flame in her eyes. So she was finally revealing what kind of demon she was.
“Fire demon,” he commented ”good to know.”
He scoffed lightly at her ego comment though.
“Everyone tries to make their guesses as to why I do this job,” Rigel replied ”I think they think if they can make sense of it then it’ll be easier. Ego is one of the worse guesses I’ve heard.”
He had his own reasons for doing it. The war? Everybody seemed to forget that. Seemed to forget what had been lost. Rigel hadn’t. The entire human race would have been wiped out if it weren’t for the help of the angels and Rigel didn’t think that war could stop until these demons and vampires were gone. The threat they posed to humans had certainly never gone away.
She was all poised in defence now, flames at the ready, and that was when she started throwing attacks at him.
He had to do something about this woman right now. Fire demons, what did he know about taking down fire demons? His best hope was letting the cold air do most of the job for him. Maybe make her angry so she’d burn hotter, burn herself to ash.
But before he could get a chance to make much of a move, he dodged one of her fire attacks only to get caught by another one in the process, flames right to his shoulder and licking down his arm too.
He cried out in pain, instantly dropping to one knee, blade clattering to the ground for a second. He at least had the presence of mind to dump the jacket he was wearing, which was still kind of flaming. It was all he could do not to scream out again at the pain of peeling the material away from the melted flesh. The burn from the girl seemed to extend from a patch around his shoulder and collarbone down to his upper arm. It could be worse, but he also knew he wasn’t wielding a sword in that hand anytime soon.
Still, he moved to pick up the blade in his other hand and rose unsteadily to his feet again. It wasn’t his dominant hand so he wouldn’t be as good, but he knew he wasn’t walking away from this fight. This girl was angry about the hurt he’d caused her sister, and he doubted she’d be able to just walk away without her revenge.
His breathing was a little heavier now as he tried to breathe through the pain of the new injury to his arm and shoulder. He’d have to deal with that if he lived through this.
“Go on, then,” Rigel said, voice slightly ragged by now “you’re said not opposed to killing in self defence. You’ve got me injured. End it right now and you and your sister get to walk away like this never happened, one fewer hunter to chase you down.”
It was the last thing he had left in his repertoire, when he was backed into a metaphorical corner like this. A challenge, something that might make her act recklessly and give him an angle to exploit.
Or that might make her decide it was more sensible to regroup and get her sister to safety, leaving Rigel alone in the process so he too could recuperate. Either way, it seemed like a good option.
The only problem would be if she actually decided to kill him, and left him no reckless chink in her armour. Then he’d be in pretty serious trouble. Well, he’d be dead, so probably not in that much trouble. But still.
Right now, he didn’t have any other option. He had his blade but to make himself vulnerable by making an attack would be foolish. The ball was in her court now.
