Swirlflower(in the camp)
Swirlflower woke up from her nap and stretched. As she padded out of the warriors den, she noticed the a couple of the apprentices and a few of the warriors getting ready for a patrol, she recalled her own apprenticeship and her distance from the other apprentices. Brushing off unhappy memories, Swirlflower looked around camp, maybe she should help patch up some of the dens in preparation for leaf-bare, she thought.

Honeypaw / with Lakepaw in camp Seeing that mischevious glint in Lakepaw's eyes, Honeypaw suddenly felt very worried, knowing his brother was far more bold than himself. However, Hunting didn't actually sound all that bad, could they really be faulted for hunting food for the clan? They really hadn't had any training in hunting, or anything really, though and he suddenly felt a bit unsure if this was such a good idea. "I don't know.." he began but ever easily swayed by his siblings he would quite soon cave with the explanation. "I guess you're right, Minnowpaw was already helping around the camp anyways so there's probably not much left to do here." The appentice admitted, looking rather thoughtfully. "And we do technically need the hunting practice..." Granted, learning how to hunt properly probably would have been helpful but with their mentors absent, it was only natural for them to have to teach themselves.
Sparrowheart / with Sunpaw Sparrowheart briefly looked thoughtful as they exited camp, considering the question provided by the enthusiastic apprentice before giving an answer. "Not too far today, Perhaps tomorrow I'll show you the boundries of our territory." She explained calmly, though amused by the young cat's enthusiasm. Once the two had made it a fair distance from camp, it having long been out of eyesight, Sparrowheart paused, glancing down at her apprentice. "First, I want you to familiarize yourself with detecting your prey, can you tell me if anything is here right now?"
Minnowpaw / on patrol "H-Hey, the elders weren't complaining!" Minnowpaw retorted, wrinkling her nose in indignation as she looked up at the larger cat with narrowed eyes. However, she showed no signs of actual hostility or upset, and simply seemed a bit embarrassed. Even so, she couldn't deny she was looking forward to leaving camp and getting out in the forest for real. Even if it wasn't with her mentor, she was looking forward to the experience. Nevertheless, she followed along obediently as the cats went to leave, bouncing after them energetically. Maybe she had been crashing around.

Rosepaw decided to speak up when she heard Minnowpaw mention her mother. "I think she went off to hunt. Maybe, we will run into her!" She said hopefully. Rosepaw took note that her mother liked to spend a lot of time out hunting.
Lightingwhisper watches the excited apprentices and twitches her whiskers in amusement. She waits patiently to see if the deputy wanted to come along with them. While she waited, she tried to think about where they could go hunt. She considered heading to the campground or go by a calmer section of the river.

(I'm just going to pretend the whole thing was earlier that day since my WIFI isnt WORKING RAGH)
Tuftbird let out an alarmed yelp as a weight crashed into her and quickly lifted. She heard her friend's greeting and felt her fur prickle with embarrassment. "Goodmorning to you too, Sparrowheart. You startled me!" She purred, shaking out her fur self consciously, trying to regain her dignity. She probably thinks I'm a daft featherbrain now! And what if that had been an attack?

Name: Ashstrike Physical Description: A large black tabby tom with powerful front paws and claws. He has deep green eyes and claws marks across his shoulder and his right eye, running across his muzzle. Age: (In moons); 60 Moons Personality: A no nonsense type of tom, Ashstrike can be gruff and defensive, He works hard and expects others to do the same, providing for his clan in anyway that he can to try and prove his worth. He tactical and cunning, a smart cat but he struggles with his self-worth, burying himself in work in an attempt to assure himself that if he serves others, they won't judge him as harshly. He is the type to flee under emotional pressure. He thrives on the battle-field, going back to his more primal roots, but panics when cats he cares about get hurt. He isn't as good as hunting, though he tries, not really as graceful as other cats due to his size and rough nature. Rank: Warrior Crush: Open Mates: None Family: Open Background: Rouge-born, he came from a 'survival of the fittest' type of small rouge-group, being exiled due to him challenging the leader of the group about the treatment of their group-mates and then trying and failing to overthrow them. He found his way to the clan, needing medical help after being attacked by the leader during exile. He agreed to join them after learning of their way of life. Screen Name: T1nkdraws Photo Reference: (Drama llama hehe, I'm open for any rouge characters to be related to Ashstrike from his past group!)

( t1nkdraws hi! Maybe you can interact with Lakepaw and Honeypaw and bring them out training? they’re about to try and sneak out of camp to hunt and they’ve never had any training.) Lakepaw (with Honeypaw in camp) Little meow meow ‘Exactly! Minnowpaw did all the boring stuff already so it’s only reasonable that we go out hunting,’ he mewed, feeling that he had successfully swayed Honeypaw to go along with his plans. Now the excitement started to set in and Lakepaw could barely stand still, hopping from paw to paw while scanning the camp. A patrol at the camp entrance meant they probably had to wait a while longer before they could sneak out without being questioned. Sunpaw (with Sparrowheart, forest) Little meow meow Sunpaw’s excitement became slightly muted as she and Sparrowheart made their way through the forest; she stayed uncharacteristically quiet, overwhelmed by the unfamiliar scents and the difficulty of keeping up with Sparrowheart. She wasn’t as big as her mentor and had trouble scrabbling over some of the rocks that Sparrowheart effortlessly leaped over. When her mentor mentioned seeing the borders, the apprentice’s ears pricked up, but it crossed her mind that she might disappoint the warrior if she wasn’t able to keep up. She pushed the thought aside for now and continued following Sparrowheart. After what seemed like a long time, but was likely only a few minutes, her mentor stopped and Sunpaw came to a half next to her, trying hard not to show she was out of breath. When Sparrowheart asked what she could smell, the ginger she-cat lifted her nose and tried hard to pick up any scents. She took a while before she replied, ‘I think I can smell a mouse?’

Quailpaw(on patrol)
Quailpaw headed out of camp with the others. He hoped that if they went hunting he would catch something good, he had never been that good at hunting, and had always preferred fighting, but he knew as well as any cat that hunting was essential for the survival of the clan and was determined to get better at it.
Robinpaw(in camp) open
Robinpaw headed out of the elders den, she had just finished their ticks. She knew that most apprentices disliked that chore, so did she, she hated the stench of mouse bile, but she loved to hear stories from the elders, she liked to hear what life was like in the clan many moons before she was born. Robinpaw looked around the camp for her mentor, Tuftbird.

((Alrighty, two Sparrowheart posts coming right up lmao))
Honeypaw / with Lakepaw in camp Honeypaw wanted to believe he saw no harm in this but he had a feeling it might be a bad idea to go out alone with no training. Even so, he'd already agreed and wasn't about to back out now, especially with Lakepaw making some sense. If their mentors weren't around, they'd have to learn themselves and how hard could that be? They'd been practicing since they were kits! "We'll have to wait until they go, though.." The tappy added, peeking from their hiding spot out at the lingering patrol. They sure were taking their time leaving.
Sparrowheart / (Morning) with Tuftbird A purr of amusement escaped the tabby she-cat as she sat down comfortably, giving her paw a nonchalant lick. "I'd say I'm sorry, but with your head in the clouds like that, it was too hard to resist." Sparrowheart teased, her deceptively soft green eyes resting on the grey cat. "What are you doing out here so early, anyways?" she inquired, curiosity gleaming in her own eyes.
Sparrowheart / (Present) with Sunpaw Sparrowheart was impressed with the younger cat's self control and determination to keep up despite her own pace. Certainly she'd be sure not to lose Sunpaw, but it was nice to see early potential in her apprentice. Once they'd stopped, The tabby warrior would use the opportunity to let Sunpaw catch her breath without making it too obvious, she had to start showing her some basic hunting and that began with a demonstration. "Correct." she began in a pleased tone, "Now, your prey will often hear, feel or smell you before it sees you, it's important you know how to approach your prey so you aren't startling and missing your prey regularly." the mentor explained softly, as not to startle anything nearby. "Your scent will be easy enough so long as the wind is kind, blowing towards you disguises your scent from whats in front of you... but for now, let me demonstrate the proper technique for a mouse." With her explanation finished, Sparrowheart followed the scent of the mouse quietly, until she heard the soft scrabbling in the crunchy colored leaves. Then she crouched down, adjusting her stance to lighten the load on each paw as she slunk forward. The moment the mouse poked its head from it's leafy coverage, Sparrowheart pounced, landing squarely on the small body and killing it with a swift bite. Then she covered it with the dead leaves and glanced back to Sunpaw, "And that's how its done, for now, I want you to try to imitate the crouch I just performed. I'll help you correct it if it's off."

He huffed and stood up from his spot outside the logpile and stalked over so he was standing behind the two, quickly finding them through scent "What are you two doing?" he growled "I suppose your not planning to sneak out of camp, are you?" he twitched his tail in annoyance as he spoke.

Honeypaw / with Lakepaw in camp Honeypaw immediately tensed as he heard the hostile growl behind him, his fur Bristling as he lept several pawsteps away from the tom, eyes wide. It seemed like every warrior was out to get them today and the cinnamon tabby felt like his heart was going to leap out of his chest at this rate. "N-No..! I mean..." He was stumbling awkwardly over his words and hardly helping their case by any means before managing something with a semblence of sense, his fur slowly laying flat. "I was wondering if our mentors might be intending to take us hunting after the patrol leaves. We haven't seen them yet this morning and we didn't notice them on the patrol either." Honeypaw explained, trying to sound more convincing than he felt.
Sparrowheart / with Sunpaw, hunting The tabby she-cat felt a pang of pride but did her best to press such a thign to the back of her mind, no point getting a big head now. "It's simple enough, you'll be able to do it in your sleep soon enough." the older she-cat purred in a playful manner, though no less sincere in her confidence the young cat would have it soon enough. Watching the apprentice, she nodded slowly in thought, "A moment.." she stated as she padded up to the apprentice, expecting the young cat to stop. Lifting Sunpaw's tail with intent, she glanced down at her apprentice. "Your steps aren't bad for a first time but the whole forest will hear your tail dragging behind you. Make sure to lift it above the ground." she instructed carefully before dropping the young cat's tail with a soft crunch on the leaves below.
Minnowpaw / Patrol The young silver cat eagerly padded after the older cats, bounding along with an enthusiasm almost matched by the lack of stealth employed in her steps. Seeing the forest stretch before them filled the young cat with awe, so unused to the scene from outside the camp itself.

Honeypaw / with Lakepaw and Ashstrike Relief flooded through the young cat when it seemed they'd wormed their way out of trouble unexpectedly. Although it seemed less anything on their part and more the good graces if Ashstrike. His tense little body seemed to loosen and he calmed to some degree as he observed Ashstrike silently at first, as if trying to find some catch in the older cats kindness. "I'd like that as well." he finally replied, following Lakepaw's lead in that regard. He surely had his own doubts that they'd get out of trouble scot-free, but he wouldn't pass up some proper training. Even if that training came from another cat.
Sparrowheart / with Sunpaw (Gotcha) Although the older she-cat didn't doubt Sunpaw was doing her best, she was beginning to note further mistakes. Sparrowheart gave the young cat a few more moments before signalling for her to stop for the time being. Perhaps it would have been easier if it weren't leaf-fall, though the added difficulty would better prepare the cat in the long run. Once Sunpaw had stopped, the tabby looked thoughtful as if trying to gauge where the worst of the issue was. "First, you must always remain aware of your surroundings. " She began, stern but not unkind, after all, this was the young cat's first training session, and she was bound to make mistakes. Even so she didn't want to risk being too soft either. "Flexibility not only physically but mentally is the greatest skill as a warrior. If you don't keep an eye on your surroundings, you can't adapt and succeed." She explained, though she didn't seek to discourage the young apprentice by any means. "Leaves, Twigs, and the like will make noise if you step on them, thus you need to be careful to avoid doing so, understand?"

Lightingwhisper: On patrol with Birchfoot, Rosepaw, Minnowpaw and Quailpaw
Lightingwhisper begins to walk in the direction of the Whispering Caves. That section of the border didn't get checked on as often as the one near the camping grounds. As they walked, Lightingwhisper decided she might as well speak up. "So the land here is going to get pretty rocky so watch yourselves."

( Dawnmist sure thing! And maybe Sandfeather can interact with Honeypaw and Lakepaw - take them out hunting or do some battle practice?) Lakepaw (with Honeypaw in camp) Little meow meow 'Yeah, we'll show him!' Lakepaw mewed happily, glad his brother had recovered quickly. The tom was equally enthusiastic himself to prove the bad-tempered warrior wrong. As Honeypaw continued to muse indicisively about what they could do to help, Lakepaw's tail began to swish and a mischiveous light appeared in his eye. 'We could help the clan by going out hunting...' he suggested loftily, 'after all, it is leaffall... and the elders need to eat just as much as they need fresh bedding...'. Although they were technically allowed to leave camp now that they were apprentices, Lakepaw had never so much as caught a butterfly, and he knew his mentor would not be pleased if it was discovered he'd gone hunting alone. Nevertheless, the thrill of hunting in the forest was enough to make the possibility of being told off seem insignificant. Sunpaw (with Sparrowheart leaving camp) Sunpaw cast an excited look back at Honeywhisker and gave a little squeal as she moved to follow her mentor out of camp, nearly tripping over her own paws in her rush. Catching up to Sparrowheart, she fell into step beside her and asked, 'Where are we gonna go first?'. Birchfoot (patrol) Hawkeyes258 🐦silvermoon2🐦 Birchfoot couldn't help but soften slightly at the young apprentice's excitement. He could vaguely remember how, not too many moons ago, he had been called to go on his own first patrol - the excitement and optimism of that day now a distant memory. 'Yes really,' he replied to Minnowpaw, 'and its probably for the best we tire you out, you've been crashing around camp all morning.' Although an attempt at a joke, it came across rather flat, and Birchfoot cleared his throat quickly before moving on. As he followed Lightningwhisper towards the camp exit, he spotted Mudfoot sitting lost in thought and called out to him, 'Hi Mudfoot, fancy joining a patrol?' (Sounds great, I’ll have a post up this evening.)

Mudfoot snapped out of thoughts as Birchfoot called him. He let out a small purr, pleased to get out of camp. “Of course,” he replied. As they left camp he glanced over Birchfoot, “are we hunting or heading toward the border?” He asked the tom next to him. Mudfoot had been lost in his thoughts before he was invited on patrol, not overhearing any close-by conversations. Regardless, the tom was happy to be out of camp.

Lakepaw (with Honeypaw and Ashstrike, heading towards training rock) Little meow meow t1nkdrawsLakepaw scampered quickly after Ashstrike, his chest puffing up at the thought of proving himself to the warrior. I'll show him he thought defiantly as he walked briskly beside his brother, lost in his own head until they had passed the patrol and were out in the open for the first time. The trees rose up on either side of him and the unfamiliar scents of the forest flooded his senses. The familiar calls of birds seemed suddenly strange and foreign. Looking around wide eyed, his heart raced in excitement - This was what he was made for. Sunpaw (with Sparrowheart, hunting) Little meow meowSunpaw listened as her mentor gave her further instructions, her ears burning in embaressment at the careless mistake she had made. Of course Sparrowheart was right to point out her mistakes, surely just trying to help her succeed in the long term - but that didn't make the criticism any easier to bear. 'Should I try again?' she asked apprehensively after she had absorbed the feedback. Honeypaw / with Lakepaw and Ashstrike ... And there was the catch. Honeypaw flinched in minor dread of his mentor hearing how he'd planned to be drug off on yet another of Lakepaw's schemes, even if to some degree the ginger didn't particularly think they were doing wrong. It wasn't mentioned in the warrior code that they couldn't go off to hunt alone, did it? Kits couldn't but they were technically apprentices, even if they were fairly untrained apprentices. Even so, that wasn't something he was going to bring up with Ashstrike, especially not with their behavior being the deciding factor. Nevertheless, he followed Lakepaw's lead, though more reserved as he padded after the warrior with barely disguised nervousness. What he couldn't diguise, however, was the excited gleam and flash of aw that passed his eyes as they entered a world that felt so foreign. Surely they'd always lived here and yet it seemed so different from outside the camp, from the sounds to the scents.
Sparrowheart / with Sunpaw Perhaps sensing the unease of her apprentice, Sparrowheart swiped her tongue over young Sunpaw's ear comfortingly before speaking. "First, I'll show you again, I'll give you a little more time to observe, then we'll see how you do." she explained calmly, not wishing to stress the young cat out over some early struggle. Everyone learned at different paces after all. "Most importantly, remember that you're still learning, it's okay not to get it right away... that why I'm here." Although she certainly wouldn't pull any punches in the long run, and was as inexperienced at a mentor as Sunpaw was an apprentice, the brown tabby understood her role well enough to know being too harsh early on would do nothing for either of them. "For now, watch closely." she explained, her own attention firmly on providing a good visual example now that there was no prey to distract them. Carefully, the warrior fell back into a common hunting crouch, carefully distributing her weight to provide the best control of her movements and raising her tail just above the forest debris that littered the ground. She waited for several moments, perfecting her own stance and giving the apprentice time to observe, before slowly beginning to move ahead, slowly circling the apprentice with virtually silent pawsteps. Her steps nearly weightless as she prowled around the crunchy leaves. When it seemed she'd made enough laps around to give the apprentice a better idea of her movements, she paused and sat upright, her eyes resting on the apprentice. "Want to give it a try again?"
Minnowpaw / with the border patrol Practically unable to remain still, Minnowpaw continued to bounce along aside the patrol, pausing now and again to gaze around wildly at the stretch of territory visible to them. She'd barely caught the fact they were on a border patrol specifically but was looking forward to it no less, perhaps somehow more in the naive belief she could take on an enemy no problem. "Do you think we'll run into an enemy cat? Maybe a fox!?" she exclaimed with all the thrill of a cat who had never once seen combat, her body dropping to the ground while her bottom wiggled behind her as if ready to pounce on an invisible enemy.

blu Little meow meow Ashstrike rounded a tree before padding into the clearing that housed The Training Rock, making a mental note to bring Quailpaw the next time he had the chance, maybe after the border patrol had come back if they both had the energy. The tom sat in front of the rock and addressed the apprentice with a small smile as he took in their excitement "We should begin with the basics, first staring off with a hunting crouch." Ashstrike dropped down to demonstrate "Keep your head down, with to your tail lifted up enough so it doesn't brush the ground but not sticking up enough to be noticed. Keep your weight on your haunches which should be tucked tight into you, so your paws have no impact on the floor." He paused to let the apprentices follow along

Lightingwhisper: Border patrol
Lightingwhisper briefly glances back at Minnowpaw amused by the young cats enthusiasm. She considered encouraging the young cat, but for once figured she might as well be the responsible one. "I suggest some basic battle training before you even attempt to go up against a fox."

Quailpaw(border patrol)
Quailpaw bit back a snarky remark to Minnowpaw's comment. 'If we came across a fox' he thought' she wouldn't stand a chance.' Quailpaw knew she was still a young apprentice, but he was sure he hadn't been that naive when he was a new apprentice. Quailpaw, feeling quite bold when Lightningwhisker echoed his thoughts ,meowed cheekily' Yeah, you're hardly more than a kit, if you saw a fox in real life you would be so scared you would be running all the way back to the nursery.'
