Velvetfur » A silky chuckle escaped from the charcoal tom’s throat - or he would have at least described the sound as silky, silky and soothing, capable of putting even the rowdiest of kit into a slumber. Perhaps he should test that out one of these days. With kits in the nursery he was sure Littlefin would love to have him work his magic and put the three kits that lived within the milk-scented den to sleep when it was their nap time. As Littlefin was already spoken for there was no sense in needing to charm her, but Velvetfur would pass it off as a simple favor. He was more than just a flirter, after all, he enjoyed using his hypnotic abilities to help any cat who was in need.
Amber eyes gleamed over at Salmonwhisker. ”Good things take time, Salmonwhisker. I’m sure the right cat is out there, or perhaps I’m looking at him right now,” he added slyly, a twitch of his whiskers indicating the amusement that flooded through his body. ”Ah, no need to rush, didn’t I just say good things take time?” He shook his head in mock disappointment toward Salmonwhisker before he followed suit and stepped his paws into the river’s water.
A contented shiver ran down Velvetfur’s spine at the water’s touch. ”Now this is nice,” he breathed as he lowered the rest of his body into the shallow river. After dealing with the heat all day the dark-furred warrior was ready for some much needed down time to relax and cool off, and what better way to do that than side-by-side with his good pal Salmonwhisker.

Reedwhistle With Webwhisker Reedwhistle was pleased by Webwhisker's warm return of his greeting. He liked the younger tom. They were similar beings. Nothing like their -sometimes more quick-tempered- clanmates.
He let out a laugh at Webwhisker's words. "Days? You must be bored out of your mind then," he meowed with amusement glistening in his eyes. Reedwhistle wasn't sure if he could go days without talking to someone... there was times he felt like it but he never truly did so.
"Great," the brown tabby meowed with a faint purr. He flickered his tail and lead the younger warrior out of camp. "I figured it would be good to bring some prey back for the pile... even if it isn't fish," he meowed with a faint sigh. He knew most cats prefer fish over the furry creatures.

Webwhisker- Blaze ♡ "It is quite boring, yeah," said Webwhisker. "I try to say hello but nobody ever responds!" This was another situation where Webwhisker quickly ignored the implications his mind began to make: out of sight, as his mother had told him, was out of mind. Webwhisker looked over at the fresh kill pile. It wasn't dangerously thin, but it was slimmer pickings than usual, and many more not-fish than fish. He overheard Weevilfang and Molecloud discussing it as they sat next to it. "You'll get used to it eventually, Weevilfang." "The bastards on patrols aren't giving us what we want! I swear there's enough fish in the river to avoid eating a mouse that's so stiff it feels like it's been dried out by the sun for three days straight. If the older warriors were in charge-" He never understood why Weevilfang was so mean and always tried to win favors with authority. Perhaps it would all make sense someday when he was older and when his head was all grown up- that was what he had been told would happen someday, and he eagerly waited for it. Oh, the things he would learn- they sounded so exciting! "I'd love to catch prey!! I'm- uh- not very good at it, though. Quite clumsy. Not really good at a lot of things, actually." Does that mean I'm useless? Oh, don't think about that sort of thing. Out of sight is out of... "What direction should we go? I'm good with any one of them!"

Littlefin with Basscloud // camp
Littlefin! The search was over, her mate had found her before she could find him, herself. Littlefin's head turns dramatically to face Basscloud, her green gaze brightening at the sight of him. She presses back against his chin before slipping her head beneath his, resting the side of her face to his chest and giving an affectionate nuzzle before moving away. "Basscloud!" She finally greeted, her tone warm and inviting. "Don't apologize, you're here now." Littlefin reassures her mate, her tail curling comfortably around her paws. The black and white queen glanced down to her fish, not the most appetizing thing stared back up at her, but her stomach growled at just the sigh. She needed to eat. Leaning down, the molly took a bite of the fish and was relieved that it still tasted cool to the tongue. Pleasantly surprised, Littlefin lets out a purr and takes one more bite. "I'm doing alright! I just snuck away from the kits while they were napping, wanted to get something to eat before they woke up and begged for a bite." A chuckle slipped past her maw and she leaned onto Basscloud now. "How're you doing? I hope the heat isn't getting to be too much for you."

The spotted warrior shot the Mockingjay a shaded glance her mouth twitched to a smile. "A quick hunt wouldn't be so bad." She hummed, thin tail ever shifting like it had a mind of its own. "The more the merrier, its all up to you." That was the end of it from her viewpoint. Dusttail would pound the nail into the coffin seeing as his confirmation of a meeting later that evening. For all she cared the two could chatter like blackbirds and she wouldn't pay much mind. A mere coincidence, she'd like to believe that when she looked over her shoulder at the camp's fresh kill pile. "It looks like we could go get something, don't want any hungry mouths, do we?"

h a i l w h i s k e r in Camp with Frecklebee The rumbling tone of Frecklebee snapped the tomcat from his thoughts, blue eyes widening as he searched for the source of the call. When his deep blue gaze landed on the elder, he momentarily wondered if he should dismiss it and head off to join a patrol, though the flick of her tail made the tomcat realize he wasn't getting out of talking with the elderly queen. It wasn't that Hailwhisker disliked the she-cat in particular, he just wasn't too fond of the elders constantly nagging him about his life. Oh you're a fine young tom, Hailwhisker, why haven't you got a mate? Or they were harassing him about his duties as if he were an apprentice! Could you change my bedding, Hailwhisker, and check me for ticks? Maybe Willowstripe as well! The gray warrior made an effort not to display his reluctance on his face, instead he plastered a smile across his maw and padded over to Frecklebee, tail held high. He knew he was a pushover, but serving his clan was a great thing.. even if it meant doing apprentice work as a warrior. "Frecklebee," he greeted, his mew low and steady as he dipped his head respectfully to the she-cat. "I'm alright, I've just upset Silverstep again I'm sure," he sighed, feeling frustrated that he always seemed to upset his sister. "Well, maybe not upset her, but we were supposed to go hunting and.." he trailed off, gazing at the entrance of camp where the silver tabby Molly had just disappeared. Hailwhisker spent so much time tending to his clanmates and trying to have a close bond with his sister, he hadn't really focused on settling down with a mate and kits of his own. Flicking an ear dismissively, he decided not to explore that option. Perhaps the right she-cat would come, and perhaps she wouldn't. He wasn't going to mull over it, that was for sure! 𝕊’𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖

Snakestorm lowered her ears. "Aw, that's an awful shame." She played with the string of words spoken at the drop of a hat. No matter how the scene unraveled that means she'd have to carry all of the fish by herself. The warrior turned to Dusttail offering an all too knowing glance. "They should have named you loudbelly then." Snakestorm took a silly jab at the other's complaints. "Good thing for you since I'm a great hunter." The calico hadn't been to bothered waving Mockingjay away nor did she seem petty. With that out of the way she began to take leave for the front of the camp's refreshing entrance.

Frecklebee
Frecklebee did her best to ignore the flicker of reluctance she had caught on the tom’s face. While Frecklebee knew that despite her injury as a young warrior - the one that had forced her into the elder’s den well before her moons - she was a valued member of the clan. Even if some of the warriors didn’t always seem to agree. However Frecklebee didn’t like to dwell on that and instead offered Hailwhisker a friendly smile, casting a glance towards the camp exit. “Oh I’m sure you didn’t upset Silverstep, maybe she forgot,” Frecklebee offered tentatively. She wasn’t all that close to either Hailwhisker or Silverstep and certainly wasn’t close enough to determine if they were upset with one another, however she liked to think on the bright side of things. “Maybe she’ll want to go hunting when she gets back,” Frecklebee suggest as she turned her attention back to Hailwhisker.

basscloudaccompanied by Littlefin | outside the nurseryBasscloud purred heavily as Littlefin greeted him by slipping her head beneath his, then resting the side of her face to his chest and an affectionate nuzzle. He couldn't help but beam from ear to ear, glad that he had finally found his mate. He had missed visiting her and their kits lately, it was something he found important and refreshing. It gave him time away from his duties too and to Basscloud, family came first. They always would.
He was glad that he could step away from the warrior's den for a moment, seeing that most if not all of the clan was up and moving. He knew that checking on Shellpaw was the next item on his to do list, but for now, his focus would be Littlefin and only her. He was tempted to apologize again, but her reassurance prevented that.
"As long as they nap the day away and you get a good meal, I don't see any harm in me bugging you," the grey tabby teased, leaning onto her black and white pelt. "I'm doing well, slept in longer than I expected. The heat's becoming irritating, but I think we'll be okay. As long as the river rises again, of course. What about you, does the heat bother you or the kits?" image source - tumblr | 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢

(I liiiiiive. Or rather return from vacation.) Mallowkit | hiding from Goatfrost in the Warriors den | FeathertalonIt was hard for Mallowkit to keep still and fairly easy for him - at least for now - to stay silent. There was a difference. And the difference was he was thinking of a thousand better hiding places than the one he was in now, but there was the issue that Goatfrost might find him if he moved. There were better hiding places, sure, but would they be the right one? Wouldn't moving risk his position too? It was right up to the point that he heard the faint sound of Goatfrost announcing his completion of counting that Mallowkit gave in. Particularly since he'd been staring at one of the hiding spots for what seemed like ages. One of the nests. Which wasn't to say that nests in RiverClan were easy to hide say, under them, but there were several feathers and soft things and it offered a better hiding place than just that Goatfrost would chance not to see him. Mallowkit wiggled forward, nosing his way under the nest, and tiny tail lashing as he tried to get as hidden as possible.

[ welcome back, mint!! hope your vacation was fun ^^ ] Goatfrost » Now where would a kit hide? It seemed to Goatfrost that there were a million different places a three moon old feline could obscure themselves, and the more Goatfrost looked around camp the more he realized that Mallowkit could be anywhere, and with him not being fully grown he could easily hide himself somewhere that Goatfrost would be too big to squeeze himself into. What if Mallowkit has found some part of the camp that wasn’t reinforced and was hiding way behind some thicket of reeds and lichen that Goatfrost would never be able to find because he was too big? If that were the case then the warrior could only hope the kit would come out of hiding after so long. Surely the kit would realize he had won if Goatfrost had yet to find him within an hour or so.
It was at that moment that an idea came to him - he could track Mallowkit by scent. The tom’s scent would more than likely be all over camp, but Goatfrost was an experienced warrior and knew how to pick out the freshest trails, and surely the freshest trail would lead him to the young feline.
Goatfrost parted his jaws and drew in a deep breath. He needed a moment to go through all the scents of his other Clanmates, but eventually he was able to decipher the unmistakable scent of nursery, and along with that, Mallowkit.
It took another moment for the tabby warrior to distinguish the freshest scent trail, but he soon found what had to be the most recent path Mallowkit could have taken, and it was leading straight for the warriors’ den. Amusement sparked in his eyes when he realized that. Of course a curious kit would head for that particular den.
With a decision of where to look made, Goatfrost headed toward the warriors’ den. ”Mallowkit?” He called out even though he expected silence on the kit’s end.

s e a k i t in Camp with Willowstripe + Wavekit
Hearing claws scampering across the ground toward her, the Molly didn't acknowledge the noise. Figuring it didn't concern her, she opened her maw, ready to flood Willowstripe with a million questions only to be knocked over by her sister. "Oof!" she squeaked, her front paws sliding out from under her and her chin hitting the ground. Wavekit had only landed on her tail, but the she-kit was leaning forward attentively, barely balancing as it is. Scrambling to her paws, the charcoal tabby whipped around to see her Wavekit, her green eyes watering a bit from the impact. The patient kitten was the opposite of angry; her green irises flickered with excitement as she realized it was her sibling who'd knocked her over. "Wavekit!" she mewed happily, tail launching directly up in the air. "I couldn't sleep so I came outside to play without mama knowing," she explained slowly, enunciating as best as she could. She grinned from ear to ear and kneaded her paws against the dry, cracked ground underpaw. "But you woke up! Now we can play a game!" She lashed her tail to and fro, hopping around Wavekit as she spoke. Although reserved and shy around others, Seakit was a ball of energy when it came to her sister, even her mother saw her bouncing off the walls from time to time. Though her extroverted attitude never lasted long, the young kit often found herself nervous in front of her clanmates, preferring to keep close to her sister and mother as much as possible. Though at the moment, the camp was almost empty as most of the warriors and apprentices were out on patrol or training. This was the best time to play! highprince
s i l v e r s t e p at Sunning Rocks with Heronglide + Swanpaw Silverstep felt a bit of jealousy tingle along her spine as she watched Heronglide and Swanpaw interact, wishing she'd had an apprentice of her own. She felt ready as ever to take on one of the clan's young, though understood that it wasn't her time. Sighing inwardly, she peered curiously at the tomcat as he somehow managed to snag a fish, earning a grunt of surprise from the silver tabby she-cat. She hadn't meant to vocalize her surprise and instantly felt her cheeks flush hot with embarrassment. She gaze an apologetic look to her denmate, dipping her head a bit. She noticed the apprentice not paying attention to Heronglide at all as if his mind were elsewhere and suddenly, Silverstep didn't envy the older warrior in this moment. His apprentice seemed to deliberately ignore his mentor, only catching the fish with sheer dumb luck. Not wanting to correct him, Silverstep took a paw step back, not wanting to tread on Heronglide's tail by giving the white tom pointers. "Not bad, Swanpaw, but there's definitely some adjustments you should make.." she mewed awkwardly, casting a glance at Heronglide. Feeling as if something may be going on, the silver tabby decided to defuse the situation; or so she hoped. "Here, watch me again and see if you can figure out where you went wrong," she suggested gently, returning to her position. Once again the she-cat kept her shadow off the water, leaning in carefully and angling herself against the river. In a moment, her paw flashed out and she hooked a silver fish in her claws, nipping it's spine and killing it swiftly. Turning to face the pair, she dropped the prey next to her first catch, offering the two toms a friendly, encouraging smile. Tealraven Brokenstar
h a i l w h i s k e r in Camp with Frecklebee Hailwhisker felt a stab of guilt as he realized how unfair it was to lump Frecklebee in with his worries; the she-cat was kind and considerate to his feelings and all he could focus on was himself. A lump formed in the tom's throat as he searched for the right words to say, ultimately deciding against it. He shook his head solemnly, his fluffy pelt sticking to his bodice due to the heat. "No, she's just gone hunting with Heronglide, Swanpaw and... Sledgestep," he replied, saying Sledgestep's name a bit too sharply. He wasn't the most popular warrior in RiverClan, but at least Hailwhisker didn't go padding after every she-cat in sight! He bit his tongue, not wanting to give away how much he disliked his denmate, though he showed it with every possible body movement. "I wish he'd stay away from Silverstep, isn't he padding after another cat?" he mewed, desperately wanting to protect the Molly from his evil intentions. His sister was all he had, why couldn't she be more rough around the edges and tell Sledgestep to buzz off? He sighed and realized Frecklebee must think he was a jerk! "It's not that he's a bad cat," he recovered quickly, feeling awkward, "it's just Silverstep needs to focus on being a warrior, not playing nice with the clan's player." It was obvious he was protective over his little sister, and Hailwhisker just hoped he wasn't trying to shelter his naive littermate too much.

Mallowkit | in the Warriors' den, hiding from Feathertalon's Goatfrost Mallowkit remained silent, just like Goatfrost expected. He remained where he was, trying to breath as softly as possible. Goatfrost had sounded close and he didn't want to risk his hiding place being discovered. He screwed his eyes tight shut, just in case that would help, and silently willed Goatfrost to look somewhere else. Even if this was just a game, his little heart couldn't help beat a bit faster and he was struggling to keep his tail still. But he managed just because he wanted the pride of having beaten a warrior in hiding. He could do it! He would do it! It was just going to be very, very hard.

»Birchpelt ♦𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 @wonderfulalexander 's Primroseclaw ♦ Camp
He nodded as the other spoke on how he felt about both the leaders passing, it was a pretty sad thing when a clan lost a leader but that was life. It was part of the life they chose, anyone could do join some twolegs and have an easy fluffy life but this was the one they continued to choose. The grey and black tom chuckled, "Stagstar was a good cat, there is no denying that. I'm sure Riverclan would have benefited had he been one of us." Birchpelt nodded letting out a sigh, that was life he guessed. "Other than that it was pretty normal nothing too crazy, honestly I was hoping for more." His whiskers twitched lightly in amusement. He looked at the older tom, "I was only able to catch one thing while I was out, you want to go see if we can help boost this meager pile?" He asked tilting his head to the side. He didn't really feel like sitting around being hot in camp, trying to catch whatever fish were still around sounded like a much better plan to him. even if they didn't find anything at least the water was cool. He was sure the senior warrior didn't really feel like sitting around doing nothing. He'd always seen him running around doing things in fact, he was a bit surprised the two had been really sitting and talking together.

Goatfrost » Mallowkit's scent was way too fresh near the warriors' den for him to not be there. If he wasn't in this particular den then Goatfrost most certainly needed to go see Loonfur to get his nose checked. He hadn't done anything to damage it, and he had no idea as to why his nose would be failing him now, but he was sure that wasn't the case. He was just going off on some odd tangent of thought when what he needed to be doing was focusing on finding the kit.
"Mallowkit?" He called out again, ears swiveling around his head to try and pick up any possible noises that the kit could be making. It wasn't long before he picked up movement nearby, and his amber eyes were quick to pinpoint where the motion had come from. A faint chuckle slipped from his lips - Mallowkit most certainly had to be hiding there.
While he could easily end the game now, he felt like pretending to have yet to find Mallowkit would lengthen the young tom's enjoyment of the game. Rather than padding over to where the kit was, Goatfrost took a few steps away, searching near where his own nest in the warriors' den was. "You gotta be around here somewhere..." He trailed off, hoping his voice sounded thoughtful rather than knowing.

Reedwhistle With Goatfrost Whistles and chirps stole the tom's attention. His green eyes flickered past the reeds of camp and towards the trees in the distance. Reedwhistle twitched one of his ears and ignored the faint rumbling in his belly. Birds were... tasty but catching a bird? It was do-able but the senior warrior would rather fish than try to scale a tree for a feathery morsel.
He blinked and gathered his attention back into camp, realizing that he had just been staring into space for a moment. A hushed sigh came from the tabby tom. Reedwhistle shifted on his haunches and glanced around, maybe Goatfrost was still in camp? Before pushing himself to his paws, there was only one way to find out and that was for Reedwhistle to get up and actually move.
A warmth bloomed in his chest as his thoughts shifted to his closest friend. He adored Goatfrost. He liked making jokes with the silver tom and going on patrols with him. He especially liked snuggling close to his friend during the leafbare. Goatfrost's thick fur always felt warm and safe to Reedwhistle.

Snake takes little time in walking out of camp having grown impatient of waiting for the tom. She hadn't spoken to him much or the rest of the warriors, besides the infrequent patrols she'd be placed on. The spotted warrior turned to Dusttail who'd somehow gotten ahead of drinking from what she'd imagine to be a cold stream. "Make sure you don't drink the whole stream." She snickered playfully in jest, catching up to him at last.

Apparently Mallowkit was fooled - or maybe he was just amused that Goatfrost's voice had changed when it was so clear he knew where the little kit was. The small tail waved back and forth, disturbing the surrounding nest. There was a happy little intake of breath before Mallowkit softened all of his movements again down to something small and hidden. He wanted to wait and see what Goatfrost was going to do. This was fun. At least, he found it fun. He hoped that Goatfrost was having fun as well. It took another second or so before the little kit was completely still again, listening to where Goatfrost was. (Apologies for the short reply. ^^ )

Goatfrost » After a few more minutes of feigning not knowing where the kit was, Goatfrost decided it was time to let the kit know he had been found. He could only pretend to not know where Mallowkit was and stay in the same den for so long.
No longer pretending to have no idea where the kit was, Goatfrost turned on his paws. At first he made his way toward the exit as if he were about to leave the den, but he stopped halfway between the den's exit and the hiding place Mallowkit had found. With amusement twitching at his whiskers, the silver and white tabby moved toward the nest and carefully pawed at it until he had uncovered most of Mallowkit's body. "Aha, there you are!" He exclaimed, acting surprised that he had found the kit where he had. "And here I was, about to leave the den," Goatfrost chuffed with a shake of his head.

Frecklebee
Frecklebee watched the tom mull over his words patiently, it seemed clear to her that he was going to need someone to work through these things with, and lucky for him, Frecklebee never had anything better to do than to get herself involved in the lives of her clanmates. “I’m glad you mentioned him by name or else I would’ve had to ask for specifics, RiverClan is full of young toms that would consider themselves ‘heartthrobs’ after all,” she reminded him with a bemused purr. She had never been one of those cats that thought of herself as some appealing yet unattainable gift. Though of course, she had also only ever had eyes for Cloudstar as well. “Is it really Sledgestep you’re unhappy with though? Or just the fact that your sister might want another tom in her life?” Frecklebee questioned, head tilted to the side as she looked up at Hailwhisker.

Mallowkit rolled over onto his back, shaking off the last of the nest that had been clinging to his body. He grinned up at Goatfrost and purred in amusement. "You found me!" he said, small tail twitching. He rolled over and then stood up so that he could hop up and down just a bit. "Your turn! You get to go hide now!" He was very excited about this, as if he expected the larger warrior to be bad at hiding for size alone. Equally he had a very clear idea how he wanted to find Goatfrost and he was pretty sure he could do it. He just wanted to make sure that the warrior actually played more. But then again, maybe he wouldn't. Mallowkit wasn't sure. He wanted Goatfrost to play.

Goatfrost » Perhaps Goatfrost wasn't all that bad with kits. He had assumed he would be considering he was already socially inept around warriors his own age, but for some reason it seemed easier to socialize with a kit. Maybe it was because kits didn't seem to judge like older cats did. The older a cat got the more likely it seemed that they would give harsh looks or mumble rude words under their breath about something they didn't approve of. Kits didn't seem to be like that. They just seemed to accept everybody for who they were.
Bringing his attention back to Mallowkit, Goatfrost couldn't help but chuckle at the young tom's excitement. "I suppose it is my turn, huh?" The hardest part about this would be finding a place to hide. He was a rather large warrior with both fluff and muscle, but there had to be some places for him to hide. RiverClan cats were typically rather plump due to all the fish they consumed, so it wasn't like their camp was designed for sleek-bodied cats like that of WindClan. He was sure he'd find a place to hide, and even if he couldn't then at least he would try his best to do so. "Let me know when you're ready to start counting so I can find a place to hide," he told the kit, whiskers twitching and tail flicking back and forth in what he could only say was his own kit-like excitement.

Dusttail (Snakestorm) Outside Camp The tom let out a nervous laughter in response to the she cat’s retort. “You’re right. We should get going before the sun sets,” he replied. He wiped his chin with his paw to soak up excess water and followed his Clanmate downstream towards their hunting grounds. He was excited to be seeing new hunting territory. Dusttail knew how to catch fish, but was that all RiverClan ate in terms of food? His stomach roared in hunger at the thought.
