Shadespots let out a mew of amusement at the sudden change in topic, "Oh, I see. You are coming up on that aren't you Warblerpaw? Well, my assessment was many many moons ago, before your mother was leader. She was our medicine cat then. My mentor was strict and stoic, the exact opposite of Plumwillow. We scaled the tallest trees we could find, showed off our tracking skills and had to bring back three birds each before sundown. We sparred until our mentors were satisfied. It's everything you've been training for at once. But your mentor is kind Warblerpaw, she will help lead you along the way. You have nothing to be worried about."

(Bet) Plumwillow hopped up a few of the ledges in camp, giggling as she had to jump to avoid stepping on a beetle. She eyed it, attracted by the rainbow sheen on its shell. She quickly turned, eyeing her Clanmates below, hoping that Briarpatch and her kits would be brought back to camp soon. She paused, catching sight of Quickwing, still enamored by the way the Warriors on the patrol to save Emberpaw had described the she-cat’s heroic dive to rescue Spiritstar. Plumwillow felt her fur warm, eyes wide and sparkling with admiration.

Warblerpaw chuckled, thinking fondly of his own mentor. "Plumwillow has always been great to me," he said. "Thank you, for reassuring me. I'm an ace at climbing, if I may be so humble; hunting is fine, but I'm unsure about the sparring."
He idly drew a circle on the ground with a claw. "I'm big though, so that helps."

Shadespots nodded, returning her gaze to the apprentice at her side. "Of course, and don't be discouraged if your assessment isn't perfect. No warrior is exceptional at everything. I never excelled in fighting or sparring but here I am with a warrior name all the same. Show off the skills you have and your mentor will take care of the rest."

Warblerpaw nodded, lowering himself into a comfortable crouch. He had told Pondpaw that he'd be fine to take watch so she could use his nest, but truthfully he was still exhausted, even after his earlier nap.
"Yeah, that Skystar Tree's got nothing on me," he chuckled. Climbing really was his strongest skill. "Do you miss your apprentice days?"

Shadespots' face twisted into an unrecognizable expression as bittersweet thoughts swam through her head. "Do I miss the days of innocence with my brother before he turned on the clan and fought with Robinstar? Yes. But would I give up the life I build with my kits? and the love I had for Duskleap? Never." she replied, voice turning fierce at the end. "You've been through a lot lately Warblerpaw, I know that. But someday you'll look back and think about how strong those trials made you."

A twinge of guilt and shame shot through Warblerpaw's chest and he was struck silent at the mention of Robinstar. Any tiredness he'd felt had swiftly dissipated. With his conversations with her in the Place of No Stars, it was easy to forget what an evil, terrible cat she had been in life, and how many still hated her for it.
"Ah...sorry, for bringing it up," he said awkwardly. "But you're right, I'm sure I will."
After an extended pause, he spoke again. "Did you want anything to eat or to switch? You've been out here a while."

Shadespots gave a sad smile, "Don't worry about it. I loved Goldfire, but sometimes that isn't enough. He made his own choices and dealt with the consequences." She looked up at the sky, peaking back into the camp. "Ashfeather should be here any moment now to take over for me. Have you eaten today? Perhaps we should both have some prey."

"Honestly, I don't even remember," Warblerpaw said with a lopsided smirk and a shrug. "Today's been...yeah."
He twitched his whiskers as his stomach growled. "Plumwillow and I caught a bunch of mice earlier, there might be some left."

Ashfeather hurried through the tunnel entrance, looking sheepishly at Shadespots, "Sorry, I overslept. I'm here now. Um go get some rest."
Shadespots rolled her eyes playfully at Ashfeather, "It's alright you big oaf, I hope the forest is quiet for you." she replied before turning back to Warblerpaw, "Come on then kit, those mice are calling our names."

Warblerpaw stood, shaking out a paw that had fallen asleep. He gave Ashfeather a nod as he passed. "Give a shout when they're coming back so we can help, yeah?"
He followed Shadespots back into camp, warmed by the prospect of a meal.

Shadespots picked up a fattened mouse and dropped it at Warblerpaw's feet, nodding to him. "Go, eat and get some rest. You've earned it."
Springpaw appeared beside Shadespots and Warblerpaw looking sheepish. "Um Warblerpaw? I made another makeshift nest in the apprentice's den with some leftover moss. It's nothing like your real nest but it will be better than the ground."

Skyflight was lounged across one of the low-hanging ledges on the side of camp, despite her relaxed position her eyes had sharp focus on the entrance of camp. She sighed, feeling a deep tiredness wash over her, what was Starclan doing to them?

"Thanks," Warblerpaw said, dipping his head to the older warrior. He always felt comforted by Shadespots's prescence. He lifted the mouse before tilting his head at Springpaw and talking through a mouthful of fur.
"Th'nk y'," he mumbled. "'Preciate it." He settled below the ledge leading to the den, wolfing down the mouse in famished bites. Once finished, he gave himself a hurried wash before slinking into the den, tiredness pulling at him.
He huffed when he saw Pondpaw had settled beside his nest. "Stubborn," he mumbled, hastily pulling the barebones nest Springpaw had made over to the colorpoint she-cat, trying to arrange the moss around her before plopping into his own and promptly passing out.

Willowkit was prancing in the forest, chest puffed out. The young kitten was exploring the forest which seemed older than time itself. The blue-coated she-kit was exploring everything she could, a patrol would find her soon, they always did, but for now she was on her own. She had survived days in the forest alone before she came to the Clan, so this wasn't strange, though it felt weird not having cats by her side.

“You can always share my nest.” Wingpaw teased, snickering to the other apprentices before Basilpaw’s tired but gently scolding voice sounded from his nest.”
“Stop harassing everyone, Wingpaw.” To which, Wingpaw stuck his tongue out at his brother.

Springpaw, who had followed Warblerpaw into the den, batting her eyes at Wingpaw, looking thoroughly mischievous. “I’ll share with you.”
Specklepaw trudged into the apprentice’s den with a yawn. She padded over to her nest beside Basilpaw’s, tapping her tail to her brothers shoulder in greeting. “If I don’t wake up tomorrow, leave me to die. Poppyclaw made me try to jump on his back for what felt like half a moon! My legs feel like they’re gonna fall off.”

I guess I can let you share, you can even have the comfortable spot, I warmed it for you.” He winked, before he snickered at his sister’s misfortune. “Poppyclaw’s got to be the most serious cat I’ve ever known, I bet he went easy on you today, Specklepaw.” “Don’t tease her.” Basilpaw sighed lightly, looking at Specklepaw with sympathy. “I’m sure he’s just trying to get the movements buried into your head. But, I know he’s strict, so. I’m sorry.”

Pondpaw’s ear twitched. She opened her eyes drowsily, expecting a ray of sunshine to hit it. But nothing. It was still dark out. Pondpaw stood up and stretched, letting out a yawn. She could hear the other apprentices giggling as they teased eachother.
Pondpaw crept out of the apprentice’s den, out into the open. She planned to get some fresh air. As a small breeze blew past her, Pondpaw relaxed, and sat down, curling her tail over her paws. She stared up at the sky. There, were several stars. Pondpaw wondered if they were really the other warrior’s ancestors. She wondered if Starclan was real.
Pondpaw stood back up. I might as well take a walk in the forest to get some fresh air. She thought. I doubt I can sleep with them still awake. Hopefully when I’m back they’ll be asleep. Plus, Mudwasp might be more impressed if I already knew some of the forest already.
Pondpaw padded over to the exit of camp.

Seeing Pondpaw approaching the camp entrance, she gently landed on her paws from her small ledge, padding towards the she-cat. The kind Warrior gave a curious sound. "Ah, Pondpaw. Are you having trouble sleeping? Usually apprentices aren't really supposed to go out alone... but I can join you, if you like." She offered. Mudwasp certainly didn't seem all that excited. Maybe she could help make Skyclan really shine for the newcomer.

Briarpatch looked down at their son, eyes immediately locking onto the small stump where his leg should have been. She let out a sigh, immediately blaming herself for this. She knew she shouldn't have continued to do so much. She closed her eyes taking a deep breath. "Okay, I'm focused now." she murmured. After several moments, another contraction camp and she pushed again. The third ginger kit, a tom, was born. Spiderbite flattened his ears. He couldn't help baring his teeth. "Are you sure you don't want to have another tantrum, pity party before you birth your last kit, Briarpatch? For StarClan's sake, FOCUS!" He nipped open the sack of the ginger kit and began warming it up.

I’m a rather new Warrior, not much older than you probably are, really.” She introduced herself. “There’s alot of us, yes, so I know it’ll take some time to know us all, but I have a feeling you’ll adapt quickly.”

Pondpaw smiled. “Thanks! Shall we head out now?” She said, tilting her head towards the exit of the Skyclan camp. “Sure. I can show you a few places. We can be back in time for you to get some sleep.” Dreamlily promised, flicking her tail for Pondpaw to follow her out of the camp entrance. This way, the cats guarding knew that Pondpaw was with her, and not mistake her for trying to escape camp. She asked. “So… how has it been, so far?”

“Pretty good!” Pondpaw meowed, following Dreamlily into the forest. “There are surprisingly a good amount of cats that are pretty welcoming! But I doubt Mudwasp likes me and probably doesn’t want to be my mentor.” She sighed. “But I’m not suprised.” She said, walking on. “And anyway, there are plenty of friendly cats around like you!” Pondpaw paused for a moment, not sure what to say. “I was hoping that knowing a bit of the forest would impress Mudwasp and begin to accept me.”
An awkward silence came after those words. “So uh…How are you doing?” She asked.

“Mudwasp is pretty serious about his duties. Becoming a mentor is a high honor for a Warrior as young as him, or me. But, he probably expected a 6 moon old kit, not a pretty much already grown cat.” Dreamlily admitted with a small shake of her head. “But, if he was trying to be a great Warrior, he would learn some compassion too. Spiritstar most likely chose him because all you really need to learn is how to fight.”
She glanced at Pondpaw. “And Mudwasp was trained by Cobrafang, and Cobrafang spared no time and effort when it came to teaching him everything he knows. I wouldn’t want to get in a battle with either of those toms.” She chuckled softly, before assuring. “Lots of us are accepting and friendly. It just takes time, but just know that I always lend a gentle ear.”
She blinked, before purring. “And I’m doing just fine, thank you.”

Pondpaw let out a small purr. She liked Dreamlily already. “I’m sure he’ll teach me well.”
Pondpaw looked out at the forest. She could feel the rocks under her paws as she walked forward. Being there in the quite reminded her of being a loner except this time she wasn’t alone. Pondpaw smiled. Even though she missed the quiet nights and freedom she had as a loner, she knew that she would never regret her choice.
