Spiritstar purred and followed his gaze to the squirrel. "You're progressing in your training so well, I couldn't be prouder, Warblerpaw." Spiritstar pressed her cheek to his. She chuckled softly at the mention of the kittypet. "It certainly wasn't what I was expecting to wake up to. I don't want to turn her away, but we've so many mouths to feed. The twoleggedplace prey is helping some, but I hope the patrols will be able to bring back more." She shook her head and looked at her son. "Forgive me, I shouldn't be troubling you with this."

Warblerpaw beamed at her praise, returning her affections eagerly. He laughed, then, shaking his head.
"I'll be a warrior soon, mother! I'm practically fully grown," he said. "I can handle it, I promise. If you'd like, I can round up some other apprentices and we could go on a hunt. Maybe take turns practicing what it's like to be in charge of leading one."

“O-okay, just… please hold on!” Hawkpaw cried, starting to climb down the cliff face. Once she had reached the bottom again, she glanced back at Emberpaw, “I’ll be right back!” She called, racing off back towards camp. She needed to hurry! Who knew how long Emberpaw could hang onto the ledge. Hawkpaw pushed herself to run faster than when she had raced Emberpaw to the Jagged Drop, praying to StarClan that someone, anyone, would be at camp that could save her sister.
Whisperstone flicked his ear in worry before giving his sister a nod, “Alright. Can I at least ask you to go hunting with me? We haven’t done much together since the three of us became warriors.” He said.

Quickwing huffed lightly at the outsider. So Skyclan was going to help kittypets now? Helping another clan cat was one thing but didn’t kittypets have twolegs to take care of their injuries. Cobrafang noticed Quickwing watching the newcomer too. He waved his tail to signal to his younger sister, his voice casual but concerned as he asked. "This is pretty odd to you too, huh? Do you think she could be followed? Or maybe she's living on her own? Last thing we need is Twolegplace cats coming in droves to us." He sighed. Quickwing looked at Cobrafang came over. “I think she’s just a klutzy, dumb kittypet.” She shrugged lightly. “I doubt she’s planning an invasion. Even still the sooner she is gone the better.” |

Spiritstar felt a pang in her heart. Warblerpaw was near being a warrior? It felt like just yesterday he was a kit at her belly. He was so willing to explore life. To aspire to what was ahead. She was thankful he didn't have the upbringing she did. "That is a good idea, Warblerpaw, but I'd like a warrior or two to go with you. They can help assess your skills and I'd feel better knowing you had plenty of protection."

Hawkpaw felt relief rush through her when she caught sight of the camp, giving herself one last final burst of speed. She soon reached the camp entrance and rushed through, bursting into camp, “H-help! E-Emberpaw… Emberpaw’s stuck on the Jagged Drop!” She cried out, panting and shaking from her run and fear for her sister, “T-the ledge gave out from under her, and she… she’s gonna fall!”
Whitesun bolted to his paws at Hawkpaw’s words, fear for his daughter making his heart race, “What? What were you two thinking going there?!” He said, rushing over to his other daughter, ears flat as he looked to Spiritstar.
Whisperstone gave a nod, “I know. We won’t talk about it. We can just hunt and talk about pointless stuff. Like when we were apprentices.” He said before turning his head sharply at Hawkpaw’s cry.

Warblerpaw's eyes blew wide, his head snapping towards Hawkpaw before back to his mother. Apprentices knew they weren't supposed to climb the Jagged Drop, definitely not alone!

Jadefeather scrambled after Whitesun, eyes wide with worry. “Hawkpaw, that can’t- Oh, Starclan, we have to hurry!” She implored, not caring if her panic stirred up the Clan around her.
Poppyclaw quickly pulled to his paws, a serious look crossing his face at Hawkpaw’s cry.
Flarestorm looked at Briarpatch with horror, knowing that Emberpaw was her apprentice. He quickly moved to scramble down the ledges, calling at Briarpatch. “She’ll be just fine! Just have to get there fast!”

(Spiritstar will call out a few cats, but you guys can still make your characters tag along if you want. Since apprentices aren't allowed to Jagged Drop, she won't call out any of them. Warblerpaw can still follow to watch if you want.)
Spiritstar's eyes grew wide at Hawkpaw's announcement. Emberpaw was...where?! Her ears pinned back in a moment of hesitance. Even she steered clear from Jagged Drop, especially after...Spiritstar shook her head. I lead this Clan now. I'm not some frightened apprentice hiding behind Cliffheart. Spiritstar stood up. "Quickwing! Jadefeather! Let's go!" Spiritstar sprinted out of camp. She scaled the nearest tree, using the long tangling branches of the oaks as a faster route over the jagged and rocky ground.

Even though Spiritstar hadn't called his name specifically, Warblerpaw darted after her, his long legs letting him keep up. He couldn't push away the unease he felt about his mother after speaking with Robinstar, nor could he shake his worry about Emberpaw's safety. His body seemed to move on its own.
He leaped easily up after his mother, only a few branches behind as they raced through the trees.

Hawkpaw had moved to chase after her mother and Spiritstar, only to be stopped by Whitesun’s tail blocking her way. “You’re staying put.” Whitesun said in a stern tone, but his eyes held a light gentleness towards his daughter, knowing how scared for her sister she must be.
“B-but I-“ Hawkpaw started, only for Whitesun to cut her off.
“Hawkpaw. You will wait here for them to return.” Whitesun said, turning his gaze back to her, leaving no room for argument.
Hawkpaw flattened her ears against her head, looking away from her father, “Okay, Whitesun.” She mewed quietly, her eyes training on her paws.

Firefang sprang to his paws, wanting to help in any way he could. Even though his name wasn't called, he wasn't about to stand by and sit in camp while Emberpaw was potentially in danger. He'd deal with the potential ramifications later.
Willownose watched the commotion next to Ashfeather and Redspring, shaking her head. So much was happening all at once. "I hope Emberpaw will be okay. Jagged Drop's not for kits, that's for sure."
Pheasantcry lashed her tail anxiously and her eyes flashed in worry. She didn't want to imagine an apprentice falling to their death, not ever!

Spiderbite frowned lightly at her paw. He leaned one way and leaned another to get different views of it. "You're definitely swollen." He motioned over to the stream. "Go dip it in the stream beside the den. The cold water will help the swelling. I'll get you some herbs for it. Try not to walk on it." "Ok" Lolo said, limping near the stream and putting in on the cold water. The water was cold, but it was fresh. A thing Lolo never had before, fresh water. |

Briarpatch was frozen in fear as she watched the patrol leave, she had to trust that Spiritstar, Whitesun and the rest of the patrol knew what they were doing and they would bring her apprentice back to her safely. As much as she wanted to go to try and help, she knew couldn't risk it now that she was pregnant. Spiderbite would surely shred her ears if he found out.
Ashfeather's tail waved anxiously as he watched the patrol dart out of camp. He had never been very graceful climbing up jagged drop and new he wouldn't be much help to the patrol. "I hope so too. I can't imagine being stuck up there so young without a warrior's help."
Skyflight ran right at Firefang's paws after the patrol. She surely wasn't going to let an apprentice fall from jagged drop. The senior warrior prided herself in her climbing abilities, surely she would be some help to the patrol.

Jadefeather ran as quickly as she could, her voice high with worry as she cried out. “We’re coming, Emberpaw, we’re coming!” It was clear that she was on the verge of panic, but she did all she could to keep her calm.
Emberpaw scrabbled on the ledge, breaths coming in harsh gasps as she felt her front legs burn with effort. She swore she heard the sound of her mother’s voice, but a loud crackle of rocks falling below her made her yelp with shock. “H-Help!” She cried out.

Spiderbite slipped back into his den to get herbs.
Flyingpaw followed Lolo curiously. "I heard you got hurt on a stick. You must be really clumsy is that's really what happened."
Spiritstar jumped down from the trees when they reached Jagged Drop. She skidded to a stop and her stomach flipped when she looked down the cliff. The memory of Cliffheart accidentally knocking her off thrust to the front of her mind. How far she had fallen. How cold the water below had been. She froze.

“Emberpaw!” Jadefeather called out again, gasping out as they reached Jagged Drop. Unaware of the full history to their leader here, she exclaimed desperately. “We’ve got to reach her!”
“M-mother?!” Emberpaw called out with both terror and relief. “Help! I- I can’t hold on for much longer, I- I think I’m slipping!” She cried out, wishing that she hadn’t tried to climb so high. All she wanted to do was prove she was like a true Skyclan Warrior! She hadn’t expected the ledge to break apart under her!

Spiritstar jolted to her senses and she sucked in a breath seeing Emberpaw hanging for dear life down the cliff. Spiritstar swallowed, trying to tame her fear. I'm Clan leader! She scolded herself. I HAVE to do something!
"Wait here." Spiritstar looked at Jadefeather and Skyflight. "I'll go down and try and pull her up. Wait here to grab her when I get her close enough."
Spiritstar let out a shaky breath and slowly and carefully began her descent down Jagged Drop. "I-I'm coming, Emberpaw!" Spiritstar lightly trembled. "I'll be right there!"

“Spiritstar?!” Emberpaw called desperately, able to hear and scent Skyflight and Firefang as well as her mother. She could see Spiritstar trying to make her way to her. Emberpaw cried out. “I-I’m sorry! I never meant to- It wasn’t supposed to happen, I-“ She yelped as more of the ledge crumbled, and she wailed. “Spiritstar, it’s- I’m gonna fall!”
“Hold on!” Jadefeather begged desperately, wanting to slide down herself but knowing that it could disrupt Spiritstar’s attempt. “Emberpaw, just keep holding on, I’m right here, we’ll pull you up, love!”

Firefang halted behind the leader, tail lashing anxiously. He kept close to Jadefeather and Skyflight and waited for Spiritstar to take action. StarClan, don't let that ledge break!

Skyflight crouched by the ledge, keeping a close eye on the apprentice and Spiritstar. She was ready to pull either of them up once they were closer. "You're doing well Emberpaw, keeping holding on! Spiritstar will be there in a moment." she called beside Jadefeather.

Spiritstar shakily made her way down the ledge. She focused on Splashecho's teachings to help her navigate down to Emberpaw. "Emberpaw," she breathed slowly. "Tell me. What's your favorite bird to catch?" She reached a ledge a little higher than Emberpaw's and reached down for her.

Emberpaw, frantic in her motions, found herself both confused and panicked to just hear Spiritstar’s voice and know she hadn’t fallen yet. She whimpered out. “S-starlings! I catch… catch alot of- of them!” She tried to answer. The ledge beneath her was starting to crumble more, stones falling down below and shattering on the base rocks.
