Also I'm 100% sure that with all the stuff going on, better states/countries will be more welcoming of people finding a better life. America is a big country. Letting in a lot of people only benefits other nations who themselves are struggling with birth rates.

I just can’t believe SO many people look at this guy and are like… “Yeah, I feel in good conscience like I can vote for him to be POTUS!” It just boggles the mind. Everything he’s done, it’s been for his own personal gain. Why do people think that THIS is who should represent us? Are they just that racist and sexist that they wouldn’t vote for a “just OK,” black woman, over a terrible white man?
Kamala (As much hope as I had for her) did NOT run a good campaign, she appeased too much to the center and right. But my god, Trump’s campaign was literally open racism and lies. Have we forgotten about the Haitians? What he says about Mexican immigrants? His **** charges?
But no, he won. And his criminal charges will be pardoned, and he won’t suffer the consequences he deserves because that’s how things go sometimes. But I feel there is some hope in accepting defeat (for now.) Let the American people see their mistake. See how their pocket money drops when tariffs are introduced, the turmoil in mass deportation, how women are affected by their loss of rights. Let them see the ugly truth of their decision, and hopefully one day, it’ll get better.
Please don’t be doomerist about this guys, for now we can’t control what he does. Enjoy your hobbies, eat a sweet treat, drink lots of water. Things get worse before they get better a lot of the time.

Voted for the first time this year and it didn't even help. California is going backwards by refusing to abolish prison slavery and not raising minimum wage and it's so depressing. Voter turnouts for the props are 50% or less and it's so bleak seeing this happen in a so-called "progressive" state. I still think it's crazy how the slavery clause somehow survived. Cali was never a slave state, and we have a constitutional amendment against this kind of thing. You can bet that these dumb f*cks didn't even think about it deeply for a moment. They just want prisoners to be punished. CA is really just masquerading as a progressive state and most of the people here absolutely hate prisoners and unhoused ppl because apparently it's impossible to hold a single ounce of compassion for people suffering from inflation and the housing crisis. Speaking of which it's ridiculous the rent control prop failed when it's obvious that it's skyrocketing housing and rent prices causing most of the problems here. I went on a tangent but man I'm so mad |

I may be a Canadian, but I don't believe all is lost. You still have your democracy, so use it. Continue to use any method you can to protect yourself. Contact politicians (especially local politicians, they are very important) about your issues regularly, protest, try to separate your discussions from the ridiculous narratives that have been constructed by politicians and push for each issue you can, when you can, and as harshly as possible. It is of course harder to do than it is to say. But denying rights does not fill the people's pockets, and when people realize that once again, as they did in 2018 and 2020, they will not be distracted anymore.
Trump will not run again. I've heard some people say that his supporters will continue in the same way, but movements like his can die just like the man himself. I doubt it can survive after yet another failure of a presidency, a failure that they have no one to blame but themselves for.

I didn't quit my job today (only us gorlies today so no annoying political talk ig) instead I worked 8.5 hours straight of physical labor with no break at all, not even lunch or a 10. It only made me hate it more. Not sure why I stay.
I'm definitely deleting twitter soon though. I didn't want to move to bsky but I think I was waiting for the election to happen to be able to delete it (some political ppl on there I like that won't move to bsky). I see people trying to be positive but I'm in hard-core dont give a fyck mode. I accepted he was going to win days in advance, knew Pennsylvania was going to turn red, mentally prepared myself for all of it, and now I'm just tired. Physically and mentally. Worked myself to the bone today just to come back and face this again. I'm in a blue state with a good governor so I have less reason to be scared for myself but I'm mostly thinking about trans healthcare, abortion rights, people who have already been prosecuted for simply miscarrying which could happen to ANYONE. I don't understand how anyone could vote for that.
On another note I also don't understand how he even won the popular vote. Truly over half of American voters are just garbage. I can't look at granny in the grocery store without knowing she probably voted for.. that...

What a bad week. We had a store meeting today and one of my bosses complained about my disability indirectly, saying people with my problem should just see a doctor. And everyone laughed like it was a big joke.
My disability is chronic and progressive. I’m in a lot of pain, and there aren’t a lot of treatment options. Im doing the best I can, and these people are making fun of the whole thing because I’ve had to use my accommodations more often recently.
I wish I could report this to someone, but mine isn’t a recognized disability.
