Wow I love living rural So great So fun when the only local mental health service, which served mostly low income and working families, quits the area and now the nearest one is at least 3 hours away which nobody can afford bc gas is fkn 6 BUCKS A GALLON Also my insurance decided not to cover my prescrip migraine meds and I can’t afford to pay $200 out of pocket for it and next week is pms which is when my migraines are the most frequent/intense so I guess I’ll just ✨ suffer ✨ have you looked into a Sam’s or Costco pharmacy? often times you can get prescriptions filled there for a lot cheaper. you might already be doing this but you can also use GoodRX to price-compare your prescription to see which pharmacy offers the best deal on it. it can also be worth asking your RXing doctor if there is a more affordable generic variety that you can take instead. sorry if none of this is helpful!

Unfortunately, there is only one pharmacy here, so that’s not gonna work for me.
But that is very good advice, some of which I didn’t know about, so thank you! I’ll keep it in mind for the future!

TW: Struggling with gender identity
Hi everyone! Sending strength to you all. I love this community and know you are all very tough when it comes to hardship. Believe that, even if it leaves you crying on the floor at 3am or something of the like. Embracing your negative emotions in such a way can be like a form of therapy. So, it's okay to feel defeated. But you aren't. There is peace & love in the future, and all around you now.
That being said, I have a couple things I wanna put out there. Questioning one's gender identity is really tough to go through. Props to everyone going through it now, and everyone who remains strong and true to oneself in the face of discrimination. I'm struggling with that a lot right now.
I was hoping to talk to someone who may be going through something similar. I don't think I can really figure this out on my own... I was born a girl, and have shown signs of transgenderism since before I can even remember. My incredibly supportive grandmother has told me about the things I did and said as a kid that made her believe I was much different from the rest. She says it's ok. She says to be me. But my defense mechanisms are my worst enemy now. I have heard terrible things come from the mouths of transphobes. Things I let sink in. Things I think about too much, and take too seriously. It has become part of me. Which is why I'm so terrified after realizing who I might really be. I feel like I just need someone to tell me... Am I crazy? Is this some kind of sick mental illness that I need serious help for, so I can be comfortable as a woman? The truth is, I was never comfortable being female. I feel the answers are within me, but the world's hate has gotten into me. It's poisoning me. And now I am lost, feeling like I don't even know what's best for me. I have so many questions for my spirit guides and angels. Will my father ever accept me? Will I become a victim of a hate crime? Should I just accept myself for what I was born as? Is this the wrong path? So on and so forth. It's been... horrifying. And to all humans who don't identify as the gender they were born, be it nonbinary, trans, or somewhere else on the gender spectrum, thank you. Thank you for being strong and giving me hope. You have so much worth, just in being who you are, by inspiring people like me, who are afraid to admit who they are inside when it doesn't match up with the outside. Dammit, I just want to be free.
TLDR: I know who I am! It's so certain and obvious. But then again... do I really? Am I just a fool?

One of my pet peeves about this world: when someone with absolutely no knowledge or experience in a subject matter assumes that "everything is easy" and they know better, to the point where they will shut down actual experts. Random example: "Just change the game engine. It's easy, I would assume - it's like unscrewing and replacing a lightbulb. Just remove, copy paste, done. Oh, you're a developer? You disagree? You're just lazy then." Ignorance, ego, and greed are some of the evils of humanity that I would gladly like to see disappear.

It's just rude that someone acts like they're right but isn't. Those people have great inflated heads!

I feel like I'm not going to be accepted when I come out as bi to my parents. I'm pretty sure they're homophobic, and I'm scared to. Below is a spoiler for homophobia. Once, when I was ten, I was on a fanfiction website (now banned, but unimportant) and my mom had to read every fanfic before I could. One of them contained a lesbian tom, and my mother had a talk with my dad. In the talk, I overheard, "She's asking if she can read it" and "I can't believe some people actually cheer that!" This is how my mom phrased it in explaining I couldn't read the fanfiction: "There was a boy cat in that story talking about how he doesn't like girls, he just likes boys." Well, I understood that! I don't know how to come out!

I know I sound blunt here, but it would probably be best if you only come out to people that you are aware that you can trust, or that at least your relationship is neutral on. But... I wish you all the best though! Stay safe, please!

If you think your parents won’t take it well, don’t tell them, or at least don’t tell them until you’re at a point where you no longer have to rely on them (like after you become an adult/move out).

I’ll keep it in mind for the future! if you're in the US and able to receive mail, i'd look into Cost Plus Drugs as well. it's Mark Cuban's no-insurance online pharmacy so the prices are extremely low (insurance negotiations plays a role in drug prices at pharmacies). all the migraine drugs they have listed are $23.10 or less per 30 pills

Its absolutely freaking incredible how many people will be handed atep-by-step instructions and then ASK ME A QUESTION THAT WAS CLEARLY EXPLAINED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS.
READ THE DAMN INSTRUCTIONS. Don't skip them and assume you know what you are doing. Don't skim them for information. Don't skip a step cause you don't think it's necessary.
READ. THE. WHOLE. THING. FOLLOW THEM AND YOU WON'T HAVE AN ISSUE OH MY GOD.

Bonus points for the guy being indignant and saying they did read the instructions only for me to take a screenshot and circle the exact point in them where he didn't read. I hate you the most.
I'm literally just trying to help people out with modding a game and I know how hard it was for me to figure out file locations the first time since other sources on the internet might have steps but not really hold your hand if you're kind of computer illiterate so I specifically wrote the most detailed instructions I possibly could. This has passed computer illiteracy into actual illiteracy.

okay so FANDOM CULTURE biggest pet peeve is how everything always revolves around shipping. I finish reading a book or watching a show and I dip my toe into the fandom and of course the main discourse is over pairings. That or the only content created by fans is for shipping purposes. Ship art, compilation videos of "every [pairing] moment in season 1" or "cute [pairing] moments," ship fanfic (most of which are smut anyway) etc. I Want. To Talk. About The Characters! About Their Arc/Development! Or Lack Thereof! I Want To Talk About Themes! Or Something I Noticed About The Plot! Or even GASP Non-Romantic Relationships Between Characters!!!
But nah who cares about that boring stuff. If I'd never seen A:TLA, I'd think it was solely about Zutara/Kataang. I don't know anything about The Owl House but LUMITY LUMITY LUMITY. CAN I PLEASE HAVE ONE MEANINGFUL DISCUSSION ABOUT SHE RA THAT DOESNT INVOLVE CATRA OR CATRADORA PLEASE AND THANK YOU. Shippers are insidious. They hijack and derail irrelevant conversations. They comment on art saying things like "I hate this ship but the art is cute" or "[pairing] is better" or "okay this art style but with [insert character] instead" which is not only disrespectful to the artist but reads as deeply insecure. Who seeks out art of pairings they don't like just to comment about how their favorite pairing is so much better??? It's not a fkn competition holy crap
pet peeve no 2: mob mentality. the way fans will seriously gang up on other fans who don't hold the majority opinion. the way some of them take it way too far. I once said something slightly critical of a certain character and 20+ people piled on with essay-length comments, hurling insults, slurs, and death threats at me, and are still doing so a year after I made that off-handed comment that I probably only put 3 seconds of thought into before posting it. gd.
the She Ra fandom is especially bad about this. it was the She Ra fandom who was guilty of the scenario above. I don't participate in the She Ra fandom anymore.
pet peeve no 3: uncritical fans. guess what? you can like something - enjoy something! - and still be critical of certain aspects of it! I am often critical of the things I love most because I love them and I see wasted potential and I wish it could be better! But if I point out any flaws or problematic things or whatever people say "dude chill it's just a game. it's just a fictional character." Dude YOU CHILL next time I see you going after people for not shipping your OTP.
pet peeve no 4: overly critical fans. some people. are too nitpicky. and read too deeply into things and see problems where there aren't any. some people spend all of their time just looking for things to rage about and will shame you for not agreeing with them. it goes both ways, alright? if you're going to be extremely negative at least be aware of it before you potentially ruin someone's enjoyment of a thing with nonstop discourse. not everyone likes to debate and analyze things and that's okay, leave them be. (exception: actually problematic stuff like racism, sexism, ableism, etc. does deserve to be called out where appropriate. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the fans who make a mountain out of a molehill and try to drag others into it.)
pet peeve no 5: circular discussions. usually caused by too much of a focus on shipping. the same stuff gets brought up again and again. or the fans only focus on one or two characters. meaningful discussion gets shunted to the side in favor That One Topic everyone loves to talk about. it's boring. it causes stagnation. it's somewhat like gatekeeping in the sense that newcomers, who may be unfamiliar with the popular topic, are unable to participate and discouraged from bringing anything new to the table.
pet peeve no 6: hijacking! derailing! a fan making a conversation that isn't about them, about them! often related to the obsession with shipping and a direct cause of circular discussions. "but what about this." "have you considered this." "yeah but this." SHUSH we're not TALKING about that. Not everything has to be about THAT. Okay I think I'm done. This probably isn't very coherent or organized so uh. Don't pick it apart too much. I don't really interact with fans or participate in fandom discussion anymore. Mostly because I'm bad at debate and I'm bad at defending my views and bad with words in general.

Mostly because I'm bad at debate and I'm bad at defending my views and bad with words in general. These are pretty much the reasons why I don't participate in fandoms (outside of Warriors, and even then, only on here), EVER. It's just far too mentally taxing when most people are looking to play Barbie and Ken with most characters or arguing like prepubescent children over "I'm right, you're wrong, we're not sharing". The shipping also drives me nuts. Speaking of shipping, has anyone else encountered the issue where in a show, book, etc. people ship two characters of the same biological sex together (that don't specifically announce any kind of attraction towards one another in the series), but if you dare to disagree because you don't find them compatible or you don't care or you make the argument they can still be friends and not everything has to be romance (etc.), you're labeled as a homophobe? Maybe this is a small problem, but this has lead to me either agreeing with said same-sex ships (only to get the conversation moving to something else... hopefully) or just outright not participating at all. A small thing, but it's there. (Ex. Unpopular opinion here maybe, from Frodo & Sam from LOTR. In my opinion shipping them together distracts from the story, it distracts from their character development, it doesn't really add anything, and... can't two people (who happen to be of the same sex) stand shoulder to shoulder through thick and thin, be willing to put each other's lives on the line for one another, are able to cry on each other's shoulders, can confide in one another, etc.... and not specifically be romantically involved? It's not that I would be against it (I am all for more representation, when presented with effort and respect), it's just that... maybe I'm not seeing it? Oh, but I suddenly hate gay people now I guess. )

Like I try to make it perfectly clear that I am a fan of something but I am not "in the fandom". I do not and will not ever participate in fandom related activity anymore for this reason. Doesn't even matter what fandom it is. Fans of things seem to make things such a part of their personal identity and fight when they really shouldn't and need to go touch grass. I mean ya i am on the warrior cats forums but I have not participated in anything beyond roleplay in years. (And even that,,, kinda spotty bc I am not really a roleplayer like I used to be.) Maybe making a few memes. And even my memes that I have posted have been attacked. The only one that hasn't been is the meta "warriors general bingo" where I literally just take jabs at this behavior, everyone on the thread agreed, and yet the same arguments keep happening and I keep checking off my bingo list on every thread that goes awry because A. it's funny and B. they never stop.

okay so FANDOM CULTURE biggest pet peeve is how everything always revolves around shipping.
I'm talking about the fans who make a mountain out of a molehill and try to drag others into it.)
pet peeve no 5: circular discussions. usually cause by too much of a focus on shipping. the same stuff gets brought up again and again. or the fans only focus on one or two characters. meaningful discussion gets shunted to the side in favor That One Topic everyone loves to talk about. it's boring. it causes stagnation. it's somewhat like gatekeeping in the sense that newcomers, who may be unfamiliar with the popular topic, are unable to participate and discouraged from bringing anything new to the table.
pet peeve no 6: hijacking! derailing! a fan making a conversation that isn't about them, about them! often related to the obsession with shipping and a direct cause of circular discussions. "but what about this." "have you considered this." "yeah but this." SHUSH we're not TALKING about that. Not everything is about THAT. Okay I think I'm done. This probably isn't very coherent or organized so uh. Don't pick it apart too much. I don't really interact with fans or participate in fandom discussion anymore. Mostly because I'm bad at debate and I'm bad at defending my views and bad with words in general. :sleepy: ) Frodo & Sam are sub par when there is Legolas & Gimli. /j But yeah, LOTR is way better at simply showing non-toxic masculinity and men being intimate with other men without it being romantic and sexual. I feel like that makes a far more important point than forced gay representation.

And always to do with the putrid, malodorous scum that is the subculture of fandom shipping toxicity. Seriously, the morbid obsession some people have with who’s getting intimate with who in fiction is frankly bizarre and disturbing to put it mildly, and sometimes scary when people will get ballistic, and practically have a aneurysm because you don’t ship 2 characters they do. And there’s many ships people make out there, that are clearly made purely for fetishism, and absolutely no other reason. Always at least 100 feet between me and those crapfests.
