A lot of people on the forums are afab so it is understandable the vent started here when it affects a lot of us.
Probably did deserve its own thread though. I don't even mind dissenting opinions (over there not here, but its locked so.) as long as they arent literally male-centric whining. Because this isn't an amab issue.

I recently came across a particular quote from Netflix She Ra that resonated with me: “you are worth more than what you can give to others; you deserve love, too.”
And maybe it’s silly, but I think I really needed to see that again. I think I sometimes spend too much time making sure others are happy and comfortable and not enough time ensuring that I am happy and comfortable. And unfortunately there are just some folks out there who will never be happy and never accept any kindness no matter what, and I need to remember that’s on them and not a reflection of who I am as a person.
Bottom line, I guess, is this: I wish I could love and care for myself as much as I love and care about other people.

thanks, i really appreciate that, i'd fully cheer you on if you did. yes! it makes me wonder if they were seeing them before we broke up. i know it sounds bad, but im kinda glad they started seeing someone immediately? i feel like you kinda needed that to see how much of a d*ckhead they actually are. like it validates your perspective on the relationship and proves you were definitely not responsible for its failure like you originally felt. thanks, it doesn't help much to know that tbh but it might in the future, i appreciate it. i don't think it sounds bad btw, sorry it took so long to respond, i didn't want to interrupt the serious conversation that was going on. |

Well, here's a description of my situation. For months and months I've been unable to put any weight on my wrist (pushups are a no-go) otherwise I feel uncomfortable pressure in my wrist. The last time I sprained it some of the smaller bones in the wrist also popped out of place. Also, for as long as I can remember, every time I bend my wrist up and down at a steady pace, I can hear a very audible cracking sound, something that isn't the case in my left wrist.
Edit: I might sleep with my cast on from here on out. My previous three sprains were due to me waking up with my wrist in a slightly awkward but not at all unnatural position. The time before that was because I was using my laptop in my bed for too long (several hours).

I'm taking him off them today. the sad thing is, it's not just kids who do that. i'm currently staying with some of my relatives, i was staying with a mutual friend but something happened, and i'm no longer staying there, this isn't important to this post, i'm just saying that for clarification. back to the main point.. two of my cousins who live there are 27 and 30 and they have this snake, that i constantly have to remind them to give it water because they're too busy playing video games or watching videos on youtube. they get mad at me too, and tell me to stop being such a nag and to water the snake myself if i'm so concerned but they have the cage on this super tall dresser that i can't even reach with a step stool so i don't know how they expect me to do that. i think your feelings are 100% valid, you're showing care for a living creature, and annoyance that the owners of said creatures aren't taking care of them. |

That's a valid concern.
I'm a big gamer but like. These are living creatures you agreed to take responsibility of when you got them, pets aren't a decoration. Taking away game time to care for them is an entirely reasonable ask/punishment.
Sometimes I am late giving my cats food on the times I usually do but I've never once just FORGOT.

Had multiple pets as a child. If my parents ever saw that one of our animals was without access to water for awhile (i.e. bone dry dish/bottle), I would have got my ass handed to me. Something that makes me instantly dislike anyone is if they treat pets as if they're living beanie babies. You know the type - people that impulse buy/adopt animals just because they're cute or cool. Rather than real animals that require attention even when you don't want to give it. Rant below: Had a roommate my senior year (yes...that roommate) who, before I moved in, went to the animal shelter with another roommate "to help socialize kittens" and of course wanted to adopt one of them. At least she asked? I said no because (1) I'm not much of a cat person, (2) I was worried I'd be the one to end up caring for it, especially over breaks because I was the only roommate who lived in-State (they all lived in the midwest). They ended up framing a photo of that kitten on our fireplace mantle, which was....weird.
Then she decided she wanted a hermit crab. This time she didn't ask and it was a surprise when I moved in. Reportedly, immediately after bringing it home, she decided Carl was "creepy" and lost interest in him. I had crabs as a kid and ended up spending my own money to get him the proper environment he needed. Carl died a month later, we're not sure why - might have just been old.
Shortly after winter break, she went to the pet store with her bf "just for fun" to cheer her up from a bad week. She came home with a dwarf hamster. Her bf (close friend of mine) said he had at least dissuaded her from a guinea pig. I was kinda mad because I knew with her track record that I'd end up caring for it, and I didn't want a hamster, but everyone else was happy about it, so I kept it to myself.
In those remaining 4 months we lived together, the roommate cleaned the hamster's (Tiffany's) cage once. She'd often forget to feed her. I ended up taking up the slack, buying her appropriate chews, cleaning her way-undersized cage, building a run for her in the living room. Roommate would only pay her attention when she wanted something to cuddle and coo over. She would take Tiffany out and put her on the dining table, surrounded by strange people, and this poor hamster would scurry frantically around the table top looking for some sort of cover as people squealed above her (because, yknow, hamsters are PREY animals??). Unsurprisingly, Tiffany got bitey, and then roommate didn't bother with her. I was so worried about her when I moved out. Apparently she dumped the hamster on a different roommate last fall.
My friends are confused why I have such a low opinion of that girl. |

But if my friends dad is gonna publicly verbally abuse my friend in a comments section I should also have the right to publicly drag him. (They don't live with their dad, so there really wouldn't be any consequences for doing so either. They are low-contact as it is, and the verbal abuse is one of the reasons why.) |

From my personal experience (not speaking for everyone here), whenever I see the term "left" nowadays I just roll my eyes because from what I've encountered, it's usually by some conservative portraying us as a cult with an agenda or something of that nature. tbf, this goes both ways down the political spectrum. a lot of progressive folks are quick to apply the term "alt-right" to any political standing slightly right of center. or assume that every conservative person is motivated by a secretly racist/homophobic agenda or something. humans have an unfortunate tendency to cling to "their people", which isn't necessarily bad in itself. but that tendency is often accompanied by a need to demonize the "other people" in order to feel more secure with their own "side". it's easier to hold an opinion if folks dismiss the opposing belief as irrational, cult-like, or motivated by evil. |

Facts.
It's honestly better to assume ignorance than malice.
Though some people are just straight up obtuse and not worth the time to educate, especially when it's obvious they are asking questions as bait rather than in good faith. Or clear that your time is better spent elsewhere when you're not going to change their mind.
Real malice does happen in the extreme fringes and unfortunately the internet is a good place for extremism to fester and sway huge swaths of people into extremism quickly and efficiently.
