Basically, what I’m trying to say is that I’m not against prizes, I’m just trying to make sure these prizes don’t cause exclusion or something like that

You have a point, Snooze. And when the five leaders get together for a game night or a role-play wide contest, they can opt out of not giving plot positions by majority vote.
I find that funny that you said RiverClan gets neglected because when I ran them, it was always ShadowClan and WindClan that were ignored.

I remember running a ThunderClan on WCF at the lake and it was nice until the WindClan leader and the SkyClan vanished. So we struggled for a little bit but tried to get past it all.

Just addressing things in a linear fashion, hope everything I say is clear lmao!
The thing is, it is completely different from the forum-wide games we play as a site. The prizes there are mainly aesthetic based, and when it's a forum sized group you don't need to worry about making people more willing to collaborate on creative ideas or helping a tight knit groul get to know each other better. An rp is successful when everyone is creative and works together, the forums as a whole doesn't need all of its members to work as a team to tell a story. I'm okay with aetethic based rewards it just bugs me that the incentive for wanting to play a game can't be fun. Like I don't expect to win artwork or prizes when I play monopoly/other games with friends, I just enjoy spending time with people and having fun.
When it comes to whether or not its punishing people, again I think that nothing outside of the rp should have an effect on it. Winning a game based around a book series we all read when we were kids shouldn't give you more creative power in a collaborative work. You shouldn't be given special privileges (and imo letting people have forbidden romances or extra queens/apprentice spots are special privileges) because of a voluntary activity that was designed around people wanting to have fun. By giving these privileges to people who can play you are actively taking away/punishing the people who can't.
Competition is fine. I'm all for friendly competition. But in this case when the prize isn't just bragging rights you're going to create a self-destructive environment. Instead of creating a fun and relaxed environment where people feeling like it's okay to mess up or root for other players, the prizes are going to make people salty and mean to both themselves if they mess up and really wanted the prize and other if they are beaten. I think aesthetic prizes will have less of this affect, but people get invested in plot ideas. If you say "hey the winner of this game gets a forbidden romance space" then people are going to start to imagine how they could fit their characters into a forbidden romance plot. They are going to start thinking and creating ideas- and those ideas will just have to be thrown away if they loose. If people have ideas for a plot they should go to the leader of a clan and ask them about it. If they want the leader to make an exception they should ask, they shouldn't feel like they need to win their chance at a really cool character or plot in a game.
Also I agree with wanting to include as many people in plots as possible- hence why I see the prize mechanism as faulty. If people want to be a part of a plot they should ask about it. They shouldn't need to win a prize in order to participate in something they want.
Aesthetic prizes don't need to just be art too. It can be moodboards, poems, different colors or titles on discord. Or again, the prize can just be bragging rights and the incentive fun.
This is long but my major point is a game outside of the rp should have no effect or stakes in the rp itself. We don't want to force people to play a game they don't want to, we want games to be fun and to grow bonds between the group as a whole.

Thing is, any way we give out plot positions are going to aggravate people. I've had people in the past that conveniently show up after something was said about a plot and then chime and ask for it. Then you're stuck because you can't take your word back if you said you would do it a certain way.
While you have a point about the prize, we can always keep it a secret until five minutes before the contest or game begins. With the right regulations, we don't need to worry and we can always stress to members that if they feel neglected, they can come to us. If we trial it, we can see who is really in for getting spotlight/art/etc. and who is in it and active and caring about the role-play then adjust.
Not to mention that while a plot position was mentioned only lesser rewards mentioned more specifics. If you're concerned about a major plot and someone wanting to play hero that isn't as active but has that prize, we can offer them a smaller part. The "A" prize only gives them a guaranteed spot, we can decide what to offer based on the activity and standing of that person. (If someone often causes issues, then they wouldn't get a major spot anyways.)
As for disciplinary, those prizes, if they aren't art, can be taken away as can participation in the next contest or game. There are multiple ways to adjust so we don't have a mess on our hands.

Ope its midnight here so I'll try to get a formal response up in the morning. Again I just feel that the prizes from the games should not hold any power over the rp itself. We're all more equipped to handle issues that arise because of plots being taken or asked for than we are for ones that come from someone winning a prize from a game anyways.

Well, I think we're all smart to come up with a way to be equipped to do so. We haven't even discussed how we're going to regulate plots, really, just positions. So why don't we discuss that as well instead of debating over just plot positions from prizes?

My sleep schedule is now wack because I slept for a good 5-6 hours. Oops.
So I read back and here’s what’s been approved based on how everyone expressed their opinion: - 4 traditions per clan - apprentice contests
What’s in limbo: - plot prizes

Alright, forgetting the whole plot prize thing plots will be a bit different to manage here than say your average clan on here right? At least that's how I feel, when we did plots in my clans it was easier to manage since there was less people but considering this might involve a lot of forumers. Along with the aspect of it being multiclan{I've only been in a few and we did a more 'first come first serve' basis for plots in each clans.} If we want it to be fair then we can't do a first come first serve right? It wouldn't be right to the people on a different time frame. Would we just base it off of merit of the rpers and if there's still too many go off of a randomizer? Either way, plot wise, people will be excluded{even if we do plot prizes on the side too}. Given there's five clans we could easily have five different plots going on but I feel for the first plot it should involve all five to help bring the rpers together.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense, again its late haha I don’t think a first come first serve thing is going to work for us. I think if we’re going to give people the right positions like in plots, we’d have to base it off of their merit and activity. If we’ve to use a randomizer as a last resort, then so be it. Also, the current state of where the member’s characters are may play a part too. For example, if they have a queen and an apprentice in one clan, maybe they’d be on the fence for a plot position?? Personally, I don’t want this to be completely plot driven when we open. I think if we let people and their characters settle in with a tiny plot such as clan tensions or environmental struggles, it would break the ice. After that, we could form a big plot for all the clans. We would have to do this and make sure we manage it correctly. I was going to add something else but I forgot, oops.

Maybe for the beginning plot we can mix together the environmental stressors with the rising up of predators.
At the start of the rp the clans could be going through a really hot dry season that's driven away the prey as they fight to find reliable water sources. Because of this, badgers, foxes, and other predators are becoming starved as well and are looking for new places to hunt, leading to them making dens in clan territory as they see the cats as "easy prey" (which is always the point with badgers and sometimes with foxes). This would cause tension between the clans as they fight to feed their clans and get enough water during the dry season (which could also lead to the clans trying to encroach on Riverclan territory since they have the river there), plus it could then lead to the badgers and foxes attacking and some of the clans would have to ally, leading to a good set up where some clans are against each other and others are on good terms, much like in the books themselves.

I get that sand, its why I mentioned a plot for all five clans. I wasn't thinking some major one where cats were specifically picked to fix the problem. I was thinking of something like foxes/badger problems for the beginning plot just to drive the story a bit forward ^^ wouldn't be the end of all clans if not done quickly but would cause a slight tension among them if that makes sense. Sorry if I misunderstood— I agree with you. That’d be a good idea to start out with!

Oh right! Another thing to bring up!
How are naming apprentices going to be handled? I can think of three ways it could go down.
-The character's mun could choose their warrior name. -The owner of the clan could choose the warrior name. -Or one that I've seen done and was a lot of fun, two possible names are picked, and the clan gets to vote on which one sounds better.

Personally, I think unless the owner of the character doesn’t have an idea, they should get to get to choose a warrior’s name for their apprentice, they could privately message the clan leader about it so the name is still a bit of a surprise for everyone else

I agree with Space Cookie, the character’s owner should choose it. Unless the owner just doesn’t want to pick for some reason, then I suppose they could ask the leader to choose if the leader agrees.

I like the person that had the Clan leader choosing it but they should be open for suggestions. Every leader usually has a different naming style so it could make it a little cool. If someone absolutely hates the name, they could always privately ask to change it. But only if they hate it, they should also state why besides it not sounding pretty.
For the drought, that also adds a chance for a fire and heat exhaustion.

Droughts would be a fun environment problem! Since Skyclan is in the mix; they would also have issues with both River and Thunder.
That's a neat idea for apprentices names! although I do feel it should be up to the character's owner to finalize a decision about a name; whether they want it to be a surprise or already have a name.
