Maplechirp has been plotting to overthrow the leaders of the clans for moons, gathering cats together to plan this revolt. Bramblenose is one of the leader's kits, unknowing of the growing rebels in the clan until they stumble upon a meeting among all of the cats during a late night patrol of the territory. Upon realizing she's been found out, Maplechirp hunts down Bramblenose to explain their reasoning and tells Bramblenose to give her a moon to show them reason, they won't do anything drastic until the moon is up and Bramblenose has made their decision. During this moon, it is discovered by Bramblenose that along with the cats planning an uprising, there is a group of clans planning an assassination attempt at Maplechirp. Bramblenose now has two choices, to join Maplechirp's revolution at the end of the moon, or to join the others in an attempt to end her life. The young she-cat watched as the sun settled itself over the horizon, creating waves of orange across the sky. The night would come soon and she would have to prepare herself for the trials ahead of her. As of now, she was sitting near the back of Nettleclan's camp, tail tucked neatly over her paws. No cat would question her leaving, it was normal for her to go 'night hunting' as of now. The leader, of course, encouraged this risky behavior among the warriors due to their greediness for a full prey pile every morning. She took a deep breath, letting the wind rustle against her fur as she tried to settle the fast beat of her heart. They wouldn't do anything drastic yet, matter of fact the meetings had been mostly full of planning and encouraging cats to gather more to their own ranks. As the sun hid itself behind the trees finally, letting the darkness overtake, she slowly brought herself to the standing position. She usually was the first one to arrive at their meeting spot but as of late, she found herself following behind the others that existed in the camp. She wanted to make sure everyone found safe travels to the Moon Rocks, the usual gathering place of the clans during a full moon. A few bodies moved out of the camp walls and into the forest, letting her know that the time was coming soon. She gave one final look to the clan's camp grounds before slowly backing away into the trees herself. Once she felt safe enough, she turned and broke into a trotting run. Her second-in-command would already be there, taking upon himself to welcome any new blood. Her eyes moved upwards to the top of the tree lines, trying to catch any sign of stars in the sky. Would Starclan finally show us a sign that this is the correct way to handle the leaders or will their silence continue to befall on us? She would have to ask the medicine cat apprentice from Magnoliaclan, the only medicine cat to join them at this point. She found the insight of the younger cat's knowledge of herbs to be useful, taking it upon herself to learn as much as she could before they finally laid out an attack. She was so caught up in her own thoughts she almost didn't notice that her paws had carried her to the Moon Rocks already. Redflash was already there as she had guessed, speaking with a group of cats that only seemed vaguely familiar to her. There certainly seemed to be more cats joining them from Magnoliaclan than her own, then again Redflash was known to be more risky with his methods of convincing others.
She waited a few more heart beats, letting the moonlight now settle itself on the rocks, before she leaped onto the one in the middle. As though her very presence called for silence, the air grew quiet. She certainly was growing used to this, the feeling of power washing over herself as tilted her head upwards. Some eyes appeared confused at her overtaking the spot of a leader may, she had known this by now. Of course, during the days I am not the one known for many words. Not even gatherings do I find myself speaking out of turn. This, they will soon realize, will be our greatest weapon against the challenges we face ahead. There was still time for others to settle before she began her whole spiel about what to do. Give them a good speech, one that would ignite the fire slowly burning in their hearts already.

Bramblenose hated being out at night.
Regardless of the importance his mother had drilled into him on night hunting, there was just something so creepy about lurking around at night. It was too quiet, the chill in the air always put him on edge, and the thick foliage that Nettleclan was blessed with made it all the more scary. Most of his clanmates had known that he was scared of the dark as a kit- but the moment he hit six moons he'd been expected to get over it... so he did.
He no longer had his hackles raised during night patrols or guard duty, and now he could actually go out at night without constantly looking behind his back. He still was uncomfortable, offered himself up for more dawn patrols just so Branchstar wouldn't assign him for night hunting duties, but he couldn't get away with it all the time because then his mother would get suspicous and the last thing he needed was for his mother to think that he was defective when she expected him to take over the clan eventually. Of course she had her own deputy, but she had made it clear over and over again that he was to lead one day and because of that, he had to be a model warrior.
Bramblenose saw nothing wrong with this- he was the only surviving part of his litter, and his father had died when he was young, so he'd only grown up with his mother's plans and expectations... so that's how he found himself slinking through the forest in an attempt to get more food for Nettleclan. They had to keep a full pile, after all, to prove that there was always food for everyone and to show that they were better and stronger than Magnoliaclan at all times. It didn't matter that they'd had rotted food before because there was too much during Greenleaf, they still had enough food and it'll prove that they could do so when Leaf-bare came.
He didn't understand it- but like every time he questioned his mother, she would assure him this was what they were supposed to do, that just because there was some waste it was better than someone starving, and by now, Bramblenose believed it.
The young warrior had been tracking a squirrel when an interesting scent hit his nose- it was Maplechirp, a fellow warrior in his clan. He was aware that there were a few others out and about during the night- and perhaps he was a coward for this, but he didn't want to be alone in the dark and he could easily make an excuse that two hunters could catch far more than one on their own. He quickly abandoned the squirrel he'd been tracking- it was far too skinny and not worth it- and followed her scent... which was when it got weird.
Instead of the scent stopping on their border, it went to the Moon rocks, where scents of their rival clan seemed to clog up the air. Almost instinctively, Bramblenoses lip curled, but he was curious, climbing a tree for a better view and pray that the wind continued to blow down-wind, so he wouldn't be noticed .The large tom remained balanced on the trees branches, confused as to why Maplechirp sat up along with a warrior from Magnoliaclan... he looked vaguely familiar, but Bramblenose didn't know who the tom was, so he remained there, wondering what his classmate would have to do with people from the enemy clan.
"Took ya long enough," Called out a rather scrawny black she-cat who was laying near the base of the rock. She had scars up and down her left shoulder and leg, rendering it practically useless and twisted in appearance, other scarring dotting what would have been a smooth and sleek pelt, one eye clouded over. She was Twistedpaw- a former warriors apprentice turned Medicine cat apprentice after a particularly unfortunate run in with a badger during a patrol. The only reason why he'd remembered her was because of the attack, the name change, that had been announced at a gathering.
Interesting. They were expecting her. Did Branchstar order her on some kind of secret mission?

She heard a familiar voice reach her ears, causing her to turn her gaze from the others onto the smaller cat before her. Twistedpaw. She let the tension in her muscles relax as she hopped down from her rock and slowly brought her head downwards. "Has Starclan spoken anything about what's going on here?" Her voice was rushed along with not barely reaching over a whisper. She didn't want the cats around them to grow skeptical about their plans. The last thing she needed was an uprising among her own. The molly still couldn't help a wave of worry washing over her. The longer they waited for Starclan's blessing, the worse the clans grew it seemed. Should we even continue waiting around for them? It's not like Starclan has stopped us just yet anyways. She quickly looked around them, the other cats were busy talking among themselves again, waiting ever so patiently for her to call the meeting to a full start. The moon was hanging above at this time and she knew their time was running short. "Actually, Twistedpaw, could you answer my question after this? Stay behind." As quick as ever, she brought herself back to the rock and beckoned with her tail for Redflash to come over near her. The tom had been prepared for this, bringing himself to sit beside Twistedpaw.
You can do this, Maplechirp, you call together these meetings every night. But more cats are here....more than I've ever spoken to before. She shook her head, quickly fixing herself to stand tall. "Cats of the clans, welcome to the tenth meeting among us. It is good to see new faces around these parts." She gave a timid laugh, relaxing once more into her new sense of power. "As you all know, the clans name has been tarnished in the past moons. Fighting over petty things, hunting until our paws turn red." She let the words sink in among them before she continued her speech. "I am here to offer us a new life! No longer shall we worry about if the next pawstep we make is our last! Everyone knows this feeling, from the warriors" Her head turned to acknowledge a group of warriors to her right, before turning to another group of smaller cats. "to the apprentices of each clan. We have lived this way for too long! It's time for a new dawn to rise among the clans. A dawn of peace." Mutters of agreement filled her ears, warming her heart. She knew the next few words could insight doubt in them though, it wouldn't be the first time questioning gazes would fall upon her. "To achieve this dream, we must unite as one clan. For this to happen though, the leaders in our clans must be overthrown." She gauged their reactions, some were certainly unsure of this decision.
You can't let them doubt what they're doing. A warrior or apprentice in doubt is no good for our cause. "I know it sounds impossible and maybe even rather cruel, but remember. Remember what your leaders have made you do. Hunting when you should be sleeping. Fighting when you should be focused on your own clans needs. I want to us to give one last fight to end them all. It may seem possible to do so but look at the warriors among you. Alone we can't accomplish our goals, but together? We are forced to be reckoned with. Together, we are something for Branchstar and Stagstar to fear!" It seemed to finally sink among the cats before, she hoped the spark had been ignited into a flame now. She needed every single one of them to be on her side if she was to get what was needed.

Twistedpaw snorted at the question and rolled her eyes. "My sorry excuse for a mentor didn't let me share tongues with them this last half-moon. Apparently someone needed to stay behind to make sure there's a medicine cat there for an emergency." The bitterness was clear in her voice as she shook her scarred pelt, clearly annoyed and not believing that she wasn't able to get some serious answers, which... was the truth. She was bitter at the thought that she wasn't allowed to go and speak with her ancestors, something that was her right to do, just because both her mentor and leader were both too paranoid to not allow both of their medicine cats gone. The Moonclan medicine cat apprentice had a rather sour expression on her features as she dipped her head- they could talk more about this later.
Instead, she just settled back down onto her spot, tail flicking as she waited for Maplechirp to make her announcement. She had been her since the second meeting, when Redflash had brought her after figuring out she was just as unhappy in this clan, so Maplechirp taking charge was no surprise to her. Sure, there were some of her clanmates that were muttering confusion, but remained quiet as they watched her in interest. There were some uncertain murmurs, especially when she spoke of overthrowing both Branchstar and Stagstar, because if they tried and failed they could lose everything that they had ever known. But she was right- their clan leaders were greedy, put them in danger while they sat in the background, more than willing to let their clanmates die before they put themselves in danger.
Bramblenose couldn't believe what he was hearing- he had always found Maplechirp to be a rather soft-spoken she cat, he had no clue that she had these kinds of feelings, that other cats did too. This was a massive meeting, and he saw cats from Nettleclan here too, mostly apprentices and some young warriors, and that enough was horrifying. He unsheathed his claws, beyond shocked as he heard the uncertain murmurs turn into sounds of agreement, as if what she was saying made sense.
But it didn't- did it? Night time hunting was so important, they needed that food especially when they were close to Leaf bare, and fights were expected when they had other clans nearby them. Thats what Branchstar said, she had always said it, and he had always did his best to believe it like the rest of the clan did... or so he thought. He grimaced as one of the older apprentices, Pebblepaw, spoke up. "What can we do?" Again, a young she cat who he had always thought was a loyal clanmate, a bright future warrior who had done well during her tests and was a good hunter.
How did she find out about this? Sure, her littermate, Fallenpaw, had passed away during a skirmish when they first became apprentices, but that wasn't something that should have been expected, right?
(You are all good!)

She welcomed the questioning, knowing it would certainly help squash any feelings of doubt in them. She carefully thought over her next words, should she just go fully into the plan or answer with only the beginning of it. She exchanged a look with Redflash, he gave a simple nod as though he knew what was forming inside her mind. She took a deep breath and turned back to the younger apprentice, making sure to make direct eye contact. Make them feel heard, give them straight forward answers. Things they never receive inside their own clan walls. Pebblepaw was a fine young apprentice, she had to admit, but she couldn't recall if she was the one who had invited her or not. That does not matter right now. Answer her. "The first step to our plan begins with training ourselves up. Along with this though, we must establish trust among our ranks. I know we are from two different clans but this won't matter in the coming moons. We will unite the clans under one name." She knew her answer might not be efficient enough, she'd have to explain the full details to help them understand what they were to do.
"We will learn to battle as one, not as different warriors like we usually do but one full unit." Her gaze left Pebblepaw finally, moving it across the rest of the cats. "After it has been made certain in my mind we are ready, we will plan a day for our attack. The only time we have where we will able together is sadly during our gatherings. I know this may sound like a breaking of a truce but it is not. It is forming a new truce, one for the betterment of all cats." A sinking feeling hit her chest, she was still holding on hope Starclan would contact them and tell them this was what needed to be done but it seemed they were keeping their paws out of this for now. In this moment though, images flashed in her mind. Ones that were the whole reason she started this. Pictures of bloodied cats standing before, howling in triumphant at their victory, their freedom. "After we have overthrown the leaders, I plan on us becoming one clan. The leader of this clan is, of course, up to all of you. We will hold a vote when the time comes." She knew deep down she was the most obvious choice for them when that time came but she didn't want them to feel they had no choice once more. "This meeting, however, will be used to introduce the newcomers once more. We will then proceed to break up into three groups, the first group will learn what herbs they can from Twistedpaw while the other two are either taken by Shredleaf or Redflash. The group with Redflash will learn moves used by Magnoliaclan while Shredleaf's learns Nettleclan's battle moves." Of course their fighting styles differed, she wanted them to come prepared to their fight ahead. "I will scout the area to make sure there is no intruders while we do this."
{If you want, he can come to her while she's patrolling}

(Okay! Shall we skip soon then?)
Pebblepaw had been approached by Maplechirp before, it was how she knew of the meeting here, and honestly she was more than happy to help any way she could for the betterment of all clans. The last thing she wanted was another cat to end up like Fallenpaw- the white and silver tom hadn't even died in the battle right away, he'd died in the medicine cats den from an infection that the medicine cat hadn't been able to cure a few days after, but the silver tabby was convinced that it was because of that skirmish and the lack of skills from the medicine cat that her dear brother was dead. If there weren't any borders between clans, Fallenpaw would have been alive.
So she was absolutely willing to do anything to prevent another slow, painful death like her brothers, including betraying the clan. She even perked up when Maplechirps attention fell onto her, back straightening so she sat a little higher, green eyes wide as she soaked in all the information that she was being given because for once she wasn't being treated like some kit that was too annoying to actually pay attention to. Even her own mentor was getting impatient with her, ignored the questions that she deemed important, saying that all they were doing was for the clan and it would all make sense one day.
At least here she was given information and she found that it all made sense.
Twistedpaw let out a low growl at the mention of doing this during the gatherings- the medicine cat apprentice had been quite vocal before that they should find another way to do this, to focus on taking over one clan and then the other, or finding another reason to meet- but thus far, they hadn't found any other way to get the clans together where everyone would be in one place. That didn't mean that she wasn't going to vocalize her decent for the current plan- and she was by. no means challenging Maplechirp, either. Any cat who had been there during the meetings before would be well aware of Twistedpaws objections to fighting during a gathering, because she was convinced that if they did it Maplechirps way there wasn't a chance they would have Starclans approval.
But she didn't say anything outside of a growl, because there wasn't any use when she was trying to rally support, and it would only encourage division so she finally settled down. "I... can speak with Nettleclans medicine cat apprentice, if I'm allowed to go next half moon. Perhaps I can convince them?" Twistedpaw offered almost grudgingly, because she wasn't as familiar with where herbs were in Nettelclan territory.

She knew fully and well that the medicine cat apprentice didn't feel very well about the plan to attack during a gathering. She had been thinking over it since the beginning, no other place seemed to be able to draw all the clan cats together in one spot. She would still think on it of course, they had time to come up with something better. Hopefully. She lashed her tail, signalling for the cats to join their groups as she hopped down to stand beside Twistedpaw. Her suggestion was certainly a good one, the herbs in Nettleclan were more certainly a bit different than the ones in Magnoliaclan.
"You can try to, though there's no promise our apprentice will join. Would you prefer me to try on my own after this?" She didn't want to put too much pressure on her, she knew how hard it was to convince others to join. Each time they did, they risked an outrage and being exposed. We need to take risk if we are to get as many paws to our cause as we can. "If not, we can certainly make do with you. I know that sounds like a lot of weight to put on the shoulders of an apprentice but I trust you, Twistedpaw." She grimaced inwardly, she did trust Twistedpaw but she could only imagine the idea of having to heal so many cats. Her eyes scanned the clearing once more, there was a lot of cats here. She was trying to learn as much as she could about herbs but she knew that she would be front and center during the battle. The cats would be looking to her for signs of victory or loss. A shudder ran through her at the mention of a loss, what if they did lose? They would all be sent away as outcasts. We can't lose, we won't lose. "Twistedpaw, can you pull some of the senior cats from their training and teach some more herb knowledge?"
{We can but I meant while she's like going around during their own training tonight (: also sorry it's a tad short haha }

The medicine cat apprentice tilted her head to one side, eyes narrowing a moment at the offer, before the grumpy she cat finally dipped her head in agreement. "If you could convince 'em it would be best. You're the clanmate." She agreed with a sigh, looking almost uncomfortable at the praise she was given, because it wasn't something she was exactly used to. The relationship she had with her mentor was strenuous at best because she had wanted to be a warrior, not some medicine cat who spent their day collecting herbs and taking care of kits and elders, and while she picked up on methods for healing quickly it wasn't what she wanted to do. Not to mention her so-called leader renaming her, talk about a claw to the face.
But- she knew her way around the medicine cats den and was even starting to get some praise from her mentor that she was starting to become quite efficient in this so-called calling. "Ah, yes, give me all of the old farts. You're not even going to give me one young cat?" She whined, but there was a sparkle in her eye as she heaved herself up onto three paws, more than wiling to do what was necessary for the good of the group..
This is my chance, Bramblenose thought, claws itching to just jump down there and confront all of the traitors, but he was smart enough to know that he was outnumbered and that the worst plan he could possibly have was be aggressive when they could actually kill him. So he just scurried down the tree, having to be careful, because if he wasn't he would have landed with a loud thud and the last thing he wanted was to be caught. So he remained crouched behind the tree, waiting for a moment to catch at least Maplechirp and demand to know what in Starclans name she was thinking.

A small purr escaped her at the medicine cat apprentice's comment, she was surely shaping up to be quiet the fiery one. She was happy that Twistedpaw was with them, at first she was wary of course but over time she grew to enjoy the younger cat's companionship. She wondered if she would continue on the path of a medicine cat when this was all over, she certainly would be a good one for the new clan. There wasn't time to dwell on that though, instead she quickly found a few of her own warriors.
"Cedarcoat, Amberdusk, and Mudstep. The three of you should join Twistedpaw tonight in herb training." She spoke quickly, wanting to leave them quickly so she could look around the area. The three warriors didn't argue as they abandoned Redflash and went to the other side where Twistedpaw was. She found that most cats would listen to her without argument, which was great in some ways but still brought some worry to her mind. I hope they are in this cause for themselves too, not just because I speak pretty. She shook the thoughts out and made her way to the edge of the clearing. She spared one final glance back before entering the darkness of the forest, only pale moonlight shining through the trees lighting her way now. She pricked her ears to listen for anything in the darkness but she only found the occasional movement of what scented like a squirrel. She relaxed her muscles, she was finally alone. She no longer had cats watching her every movement and she could do what she pleased.
Of course this came with a price, she'd have to remain alert enough to pick up on any cats around her but at the moment it silent. She thought of her clan, the cats who hadn't joined them just yet. We will bring a brighter future for you, I promise. Her mind floated to Robinsong, her sister who was queen. The whole turning point for her. She didn't want her littermate's kit to be raised in such a horrible predicament.

Much to Bramblenoses surprise, Maplechirp left, and was getting closer and closer to his spot. Fear, anger, and perhaps just a little bit of excitement shot through him because this was working out better than he had planned. His worse case scenario was that he'd have to sit in the dark until the cats dispersed and he'd have to confront her later at camp.
But this is my chance, He thought, claws unsheathing and fur bristling as he lept forward, landing infront of her and suddenly questioning why he didn't bowl her over and threaten her life, like Branchstar had told him to do. Yet he was always soft, according to his family, and it was only showing now even if he had spent moons proving his family wrong. "I'm going to give you one chance to explain yourself before I kill you for betraying your clan," He managed to ground out, still unable to fully process that there were so many cats that were willing to turn their backs to everything that they knew, some that he had considered friends. He had always respected Maplechirp, thought that she was a good warrior, even if many didn't take any notice to the quiet she cat.
He didn't talk to her much himself, but this still stung, and he was determined to make this right. He knew he had to tell Branchstar- but before he did he wanted to know why Maplechirp genuinely thought that this was a good idea when Nettleclan was doing just fine. They had strong kits, talented apprentices, and capable warriors. The fresh kill pile was always well stocked and the medicine cats never really had their paws full, this was all good, right?
Right?
Then why didn't you turn tail and run back to your mother? An incredibly troubling voice taunted him, but he did his best to ignore it, green eyes narrowed into slits at this point as he tried to look as angry as possible at this.
(Oooh what if Branchstar apprentices Robinsongs kit way too early?)

She jumped in her fur when a shadow of a cat appeared in front of her. She let her eyes adjust for a few moments as they had this mini staring contest, realizing it was Bramblenose. Oh no, this isn't good. It's one of Branchstar's kits. What do I do? His question pierced through her worries, making her relax. She had time, she could explain herself and win him over...surely? This would certainly prove to be more difficult than any of the other cats she had spoken with about this before. I need to answer him and not stand here like a cat caught on the Thunderpath.
"I'm sorry you're finding out this way, Bramblenose. Truly, it must be scary to think of any cat planning an attack on our leader let alone your own mother but you have to hear me out." She stopped for a moment, taking a timid step forward, she'd have to use emotions and logic for him to even consider not killing her. I can't be killed, if I'm killed the rebellion will be done for. I'm the symbol of hope for so many cats now..."You have to see it from our side, don't you feel as though all of this is becoming too much? Don't you recall when times were better than this?" She tried to imagine that era of Nettleclan. He had just reached the age of an apprentice when Driftstar had passed away, giving the go to for his mother to become their new leader. "Think about it, even then we have not set in stone time for this. I need..." She flashed her gaze behind him to Moon rocks, the cats weren't ready for the attack just yet. It would take maybe a moon or longer for them to be fully prepared.
"I need time, Bramblenose. Give me time to show you our true purpose. More than just this moment between us now." How long? How long would be too long for him? She knew if she asked too much it would result in him ending her here but if she asked too little then she risked everything falling apart anyways. "Give me a moon to show you everything, prove to you how wrong living like this is." She, herself, had been a fully grown apprentice when things had changed. It was like night and day when Branchstar took over, it's what it made so easy to convince the older warriors. She would need his trust though, trust that she wouldn't do anything too drastic before the moon was full in the sky again.
"You have my word we don't do anything, you can come to every meeting and see it all for yourself. I won't hide anything, I'm not sure how much you heard but I can promise if you give me this chance you will know everything your heart desires to make a decision." She searched his eyes once more, why was she so scared of him? Sure he stood taller than her but they had been clanmates this whole time. He seemed the most sensible out of all the kits Branchstar had, at one point in time she had even considered asking him to join but now...he looked just the rest of the blindless followers, listening to the word of the leader without a second thought.
{that's a good idea! I'm up for it. Also hope it's okay I made it where Maple is a bit older and did Branchstar's whole timeline of power ^^; if not I can change my post!}

Bramblenose wanted to snarl that she was talking down to him, why did she think this was scary for Bramblenose? But he didn't, because he was caught off guard when she insisted for him to think about times that were better than this. He, personally, tried not to think about the times when Branchstar hadn't' been leader, because it had been drilled into him and his siblings that that was in the past and things needed to change to make a bigger, stronger, clan and sacrifices had to be made. He'd whined about it himself, missing when Driftstar was leader, but his mother had blown up at him and told him that was because he was a kit and was blind to everything else. Of course things were better when he was in the nursery and had nothing to worry about.
But... Maplechirp was older than him- Stars, he remembered following the then-Maplepaw around with wide eyes because she was a senior apprentice and knew everything- and maybe he still respected her because they trained together and she was older. It was the same as her sister, Robinsong. The two had nearly been warriors when he and his littermates stumbled into the apprentices den for the first time with all of their kit-like excitement of being apprentices and he supposed that never actually went away.
He took a step back when Maplechirp took a step forward, growling low in his throat, warning her not to come close because he wanted the space between them. It was safe, and he didn't know if she was planning on overtaking him while he thought this over, at the request to give her a moon to change his mind, watching her warily as he looked her over. "You're asking me to betray my mother, my clan." But his voice was... monotone. Just stating a fact.
And what made it worse was that he was considering it.
"What makes you so special that you think you can take over an entire clan, Maplechirp? And not just an entire clan, but two? " He wasn't denying that he'd give her a chance, no, because for some reason he'd lost his mind and was actually considering doing so but right now he was truly just trying to figure out why she thought that this was actually feasible and wouldn't get herself killed in the process. There was no venom in his voice, but shock, as his tail lashed, showing off more fear than he was willing to admit to.
(Actually, I was thinking that Maplechirp could be older too! I could see Bramblenose really admiring her and her sister as an apprentice)

She expected a bit of questions, especially ones about why she thought she could do this as the leader of the group. She had heard it several times and at this point it would be shocking to not hear it. A shine came to her eyes as she puffed out her chest, she took pride in answering this.
"I think I can do it because unlike..." She trailed off, usually she'd say the current leaders but she didn't want to offend the tom. "Other cats, I have a passion for the cats around me. I know I can rally the clan cats, I see it in their eyes all the time. Defeat, hurt, they're all scared to step forward on their own. I know I'm not the typical outspoken warrior you'd run across like some of our clanmates but when I'm forced to watch cats die in battles that aren't worth it, I feel a passion in my soul to fix everything going on. I am not taking on two clan leaders by myself, nor two clans. I have cats depending on me, yes, but they will be fighting by my side if the time comes. It's not two entire clans, you saw that yourself during our meeting." She paused once more, trying to recall what else she'd say. It usually came to her so easily but now she had to word it differently.
"I know the risk behind all of this, so do the cats behind you. If we fail, at least we fail in a cause we believe in and not in a war we have no paws involving ourselves in. We are fighting for a future for not only Nettleclan, but Magnoliaclan too. If both clans continue down this path they're heading, we will either all die before our time or dive into the paths of rogues." She gauged his reaction for a short moment, letting all her words set inside his mind. She felt like she was just rambling but she had to, she couldn't risk messing this up. "Do you want to die a nameless warrior or do you want to change the future for us?" She asked, flicking her tail behind her. Memories were floating in her mind now, the first senseless battle she had involved herself in. She couldn't even recall what the fight was over but many warriors passed in it, not just Nettleclan cats. Her heart yearned to never relive that memory again, she could change it. She had to for the future kits in the clans, the apprentices, warriors, everyone. It felt like such a heavy weight on her and his question certainly made it all sink in. Why did him asking this make me realize how important my role in this is? I know I'm their 'leader' but if I never took that first risk...there would be no hope. I have to survive this and somehow get the leader's kit on our side but can my words be enough to bring a passion in his heart?
{Awe that's kinda cute! I like that idea, of course Maplechirp would be none the wiser to his admiration because she's, shocker I know based on my writing, pretty self critical over herself.}

(Ye! Bramblenose is definitely not like his siblings, who are very extraverted and constantly fight for their mothers attention and while Bramblenose has been groomed to take over as leader one day, all of them, they still want Branchstars attention and Bramblenose is just like... ok ig. Like, he looks up to his mother less than he did the clanmates closer to his age. Also fun fact: He wanted to become a medicine cat but Branchstar had other plans for him so made him into a warriors apprentice.)
The fact that she wa avoiding calling out his mother by name wasn't unnoticed by Bramblenose, but he didn't say a word as Maplechirp jumped into this speech about why she felt like she could do this, that she had the skills to rally cats. "So, what's your plan if it's not taking over two clans, Maplechirp? Do you want to start your own?" That... wouldn't be as bad. Sure, there would be a lot of fighting with former clanmates, but if they just left and made their own territory nearby.... that wouldn't actually be horrible.
He hated to admit that Maplechirp had some good points, that the way that the clans were being run right now was absolutely unsustainable, no matter how hard he tried not to think of it. They were over hunting in the forest and hoarding things that they really didn't need to hoard, attacking Magnoliaclan just to get a little bit extra room in their territory while pushing the boundaries with a clan that they could easily get in another war with. But he had always been told that Branchstar had her reasons and that it wasn't his place to challenge his mother on things that he apparently had no idea about. Maplechirp had been told the same things- yet here she was, no fear and even puffing out her own chest, explaining why she thought this was necessary.
He didn't answer at first, letting out frustrated breath, because he didn't know what to do and that troubled him. He'd been trained all his life to be the perfect warrior, one who would have gone back to Branch star without even thinking and reporting a traitorous classmate for the good of the clan. Yet... here he was, actually considering this, instead of ending it swiftly. His claws dug into the soft soil beneath him, tail lashing at his own indecision before shaking his head. "This is one of the most mouse-brained ideas I've ever heard Maplechirp. How do you think that this will work? I'll... I'll give you a moon, but this is a dangerous game your playing. You don't want to be on Branchstars bad side." He warned reluctantly, feeling as if he were a traitor already for even feeling this way.

Her tail waved in dismissal of his worries, not feeling any remorse for her own decisions. "I don't plan on moving us out of this forest, it might harbor some dark memories but this is still our home. My idea is to combine the clans into one, there's plenty of territory to share between all of us. Two clans feels pointless after all of this, we've come together already why dissolve back into two?" She mused, whiskers twitching as she thought about it. Deep down, her real reasoning was much more personal. She couldn't imagine a life without the Magnoliaclan warriors by her side anymore. They proved themselves to be more than just acquaintances, she had certainly grown close to them in these meetings.
His next remark made her shoot him a look, she knew the consequences of all her actions. She knew what was at risk if everything fell apart. "I realize it sounds crazy but I think we might just be able to do this. Even then, if not I'd rather die in a blaze of glory for something I believe in than something I don't. Don't you? Isn't that the point of a warrior, to do things we believe in and live with honor?" She put her head to the side, wondering if he had other ideas for what a warrior should live for. "Don't you want to live or die knowing you went above and beyond to secure a safe future and knowing you did something worthwhile?" She gave her tail one more flick, mind flitting back to Moon Rocks. She had been standing here talking to him for quiet a while it felt, did Redfall or Twistedpaw notice her long absence? Usually these scouts only took a bit, returning as soon as she was sure of they're safety.
"Either way, Bramblenose, do you want to come back with me? I know it sounds daunting but I'm hopeful the cats back there will welcome you for the time being." She began to take a pawstep back to the clearing, glancing back to him. "Though if I were you, I'd certainly lie through my teeth and say you're willingly joining us. Don't want to cause an unneeded fight."
{oo well I bet if Maplechirp knew he wanted to be a medicine cat, she'd use that to her advantage by securing him a spot in knowing the herbs and learning them. Show him he can take his own path in life and whatnot. Also, yeah, I pictured his siblings be more true to their mother's cause which would be why Maplechirp is more uncertain about him}

"But that's a lot of cats to take care of- and who would lead them?" He argued back, still feeling like this was so ambitious and not exactly in a good way, either. It felt like she had big ambitions, but when he thought about it... well, it seemed as if there were parts of the plan that could easily make it crumble. HIs own tail lashed, stirring up some leave s in the process as he tried to think of a way to talk a warrior, whom he respected greatly, out of this situation and make it go away before anyone got hurt. He didn't like the thought of keeping things from Branchstar- it had been drilled into his head that he shouldn't keep a thing from her since he was young and this was going against everything he taught to just sit back and be compliant in all of his.
He didn't answer her at the challenge- because while he knew she was right, he couldn't help but worry that they would end up on the wrong side of history. What if they did this, failed, and every cat involved would end up in the Dark Forest? He'd heard enough rumors of thatplace from medicine cats and elders that he never wanted to do anything to even risk it. Sure, he was too old to believe in those kinds of superstitions, but he was a superstitious cat and there wasn't much he could do about that.
But now she was inviting him into the meeting and his skin crawled at the thought, but she had a good point yet again, so he reluctantly followed her, forcing his fur to remain flat just because no one could catch that he didn't agree with this, not fully. That would just cause a fight that he really didn't need now and he could play pretend for a short while- it's not like he didn't do it anyways. "Fine. I'll... pretend." He agreed grudgingly.
(Ooh that would make this quite an interesting turn! Also, what if Maplechirps sisters kit ended up being apprenticed under Bramblenose? It might convince him to be more personally involved, too.)

"The leader when all of this is over is up to debate, we plan on holding a vote. Most cats believe the answer to be an obvious one who will lead but I'd prefer it to be a choice for them after all of this, you know?" She tried to remain casual but deep down she knew the true answer to his question. It'll be me, I'll lead the new clan just like I'm leading this whole rebellion. He can't know that though, if he does then it's pretty obvious who needs to be taken out for the thing to fall apart. The two had arrived to the clearing now, the cats still focused on their own training but Redflash took note of them quickly, speaking quickly to his own group before rushing over to the two. He sounded out of breath when he arrived, a mixture of exhaustion from the battle training and his old age. He gave a quick examination of Maplechirp, deeming her well and unhurt before turning to Bramblenose.
"If I recall correctly, Maplechirp left here by herself. You are a new face, are you here to join us?" He had to know that Bramblenose was Branchstar's kit, it wasn't unknown to anyone in the clans. She admired his ability to remain casual despite the small rise of his fur beginning to happen. She knew this could go one of two ways, Bramblenose says the right things and her second-in-charge accepts him or he says everything wrong and she has to pry the two apart. That wouldn't look good to the others, certainly not.

That, right there, was exactly what he was worried about but they would have time to argue this later. Surely there were cats who wouldn't want this, that wanted to remain separate, what of them? Plus, he still personally felt as if one large clan was... too much. Way too much. But, again, he could take his time in convincing them otherwise afterwards. Right now he was jumping into the fray and had to do his best to look like he was convinced of this little cause. So when another warrior neared them- if he remembered correctly, this was Redflash, a warrior from Magnoliaclan.
"Yes- I'm not comfortable with the way that Branchstar is running Nettleclan. It feels like she's running it to the ground." It was a partial lie, not a full one, he tried to soothe himself with that information as he watched the tom cat carefully. Surely he would be watched more closely than the others- because why would the kit of one of the leaders want to rebel? At least in Nettleclan, the leaders kits were treated different. They received the best mentors, the best positions, and, in Bramblenoses case, he was to shadow the deputy just to know what the job was in the future. It was something he'd never liked doing, but what options did he actually have?
(You're good! I hope your kitty recovers fast! Take your time, seriously!)
