So, I understand everyone saying it is Ashfur, and I know I am probably going to get shamed by everyone who thinks it is, but I don't think it is him, or just him. One main reason I have is that Starclan is silent. How in the heck does Ashfur do that? Another thing is that the impostor isn't comfortable whatsoever in Thunderclan. Yes, it would be weird to all of a sudden be in another cat that is at the highest rank in the clan just like that. But even then I would think he would feel slightly comfortable knowing that he used to live in this exact camp, except with some small changes from the fire and whatnot. I just don't think Ashfur would really have this much beef with Squirrelflight, nevermind the other four clans.
Now lets say Sol is the impostor. He has beef with basically all the clans and really has a reason for wanting to destroy them entirely. The voice in Shadowsight's head gives names of the Codebreakers; which of course had Squirrelflight, and Lionblaze, Dovewing, Jayfeather, and many others. I know this could point to Ashfur, and that's why he isn't entirely the best candidate to be the impostor. But what about both?
They both have beef with the clans, mainly Thunderclan. Sol also may know how to block out Starclan. So what if Ashfur showed Sol Starclan, he blocked it, figured out how Ashfur could come in contact with a cat that could still get visions in some sort of way, got him to kill Bramblestar, and then Sol and Ashfurs spirit went into Bramblestar? We could theorize that Sol knows how to do that since he is a very mysterious cat, and that Ashfur could take care of anything that has to do with Bramblestar and the clans. What I mean is that Sol could have died, now turned ghost, and is helping out Ashfur with certain things that Ashfur may be unable, or doesn't know how to do. Remember, when Antfur got hurt, and went out on patrol again, and the perfectly healthy branch just "dropped" right on Antfur or whatever his name was. They could be working as a duo to get rid of the clans for good.
Of course just some thoughts that I know will probably sound stupid and will instantly get debunked because that is what happens 99% of the time. But I just don't think it is Ashfur, or just Ashfur.

barberzSame, like I don't understand how ONE little cat, who isn't even good at planning in the first place, could manage to silence ALL of StarClan, or be the only StarClan cat to reach the living.

I don't think anyone can argue that Ashfur is acting alone, because we don't know yet. We're just saying dismissing Ashfur as a big part of it doesn't make sense.

If Ashfur or any StarClan cat is the imposter, then that'd be a blow to the lore since StarClan cats are supposedly above vengeance and discontent? Even Hollyleaf stated it in SqH, things that happened in their past life become less important I feel like we've already seen that Starclan cats don't really become wiser or above conflict than they were in life though. Yellowfang lost her brain (until SqH) and Moth Flight was angry that someone had dared not follow her code. Spottedleaf is also capable of jealousy, as she points out that sometimes she wishes Sandstorm would just disappear. Plus, didn't Starclan straight up split into clans for a bit after arguments? I know they don't stay in a constant state of peace, even though StarClan had its own few rough patches, there was never anyone so disgruntled to start this. And if Ashfur, who has less of a reason to be so bitter, is actually angry enough murder and mass manipulate, how come no other cat tried to do the same? Cats killed or betrayed like Yellowfang, Rowanstar and others have much more reason to be vengeful or attempt to take over another cat's body, so why haven't they? On a side note, their inability to speak to StarClan implies it's an external force that may be behind all this, but like Squirrelflight, Ashfur was able to leave their grounds and somehow manage to block them off? But as a ghost, neither Squirrelflight, Needletail or Bramblestar was able to really do anything. Maybe he teamed up with some greater force? That would seem likely

That would seem likely HC has realized the the fans don’t want Ashfur, the number one controversial character in this series, in StarClan, as he deserves the Dark Forest. Now they have found an opportunity to do that after reintroducing him in SH

Now they have found an opportunity to do that after reintroducing him in SH That may be true, but Ashfur had his shine back in the third arc. It would be really weird and random to just have him rise up from his grave over five warriors years later, and over a salty rejection at that. And while he likely is the one behind this, it would still be a lot better for a more recent character to return.

He showed up in SqH, so I have a feeling there's some relation between the two. Maybe seeing her triggered some anger, because she wasn't willing to forgive him (understandably)

His character had so much potential to be explored even more. HC has found an opportunity to listen to us. He was recently reintroduced in SH, a good Segway to his return in TBC. We can infer that seeing Squirrelflight again in StarClan made a screw loose in his brain and brought back the desire for revenge

Also, before anyone questions why it wasn't Hollyleaf that set the screw loose, I have a feeling he blames even that on Squirrelflight. He doesn't have an issue with anyone BUT her.

If it is just living memory, who was remembering Fallen Leaves from when he was alive that whole time anyway? How was he still around when Mapleshade, who lived way later, was close to fading? There was one line where Rock mentioned that he is cursed with immortality so that means that Fallen Leaves, The Ancients, Midnight, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovewing will never fade away.

While we are talking about Mapleshade, I just thought of a rather unlikely/never going to happen theory - what if it was Oakstar? He was a ThunderClan leader and Bramblestar's great-grandfather, and we know he was very serious about code breaking and infamously exiled some kits just for being half-Clan. Maybe what Mapleshade did just made him feel vindicated and he feels the Dark Forest battle was proof that codebreakers will always destroy the Clans if they aren't stopped. That would be an amazing plot as it would make a background character important
