(Being sick is the worst. You feeling better at least?)
The angel nodded at the older woman's words before turning her attention towards the vampire elder. She had never heard the story of how the prophecy came to be before. It was rather interesting. Time travel? The prophecy-giver in a coma? It was all new to her. How do we find out what to do? Avani considered the vampire's words for a moment. So they couldn't talk to the elemental who saw the future, but were there people or writings out there that held record of his travel? If that were the case it probably would've been mentioned and the elders wouldn't be so in the dark. Perhaps there were other people out there who knew something. Maybe they just had to be found. The angel didn't have a chance to say a thing before Christina spoke up. She sounded angry. She even looked angry. Clenched fists and ridged stance gave that away. The angel lightly reached out and put a hand on the reaper's shoulder again. As she did, the werewolf apologized for lack of information.
We're really going in blind, Avani thought as she glanced between Christina and the elders. A part of her hoped the others in the prophecy would know something. She hoped someone somewhere would know something. However it was beginning to look like chances for that were slim. With a small sigh, Avani glanced at the others in the room and smiled. "It may not be much, but it's better than nothing. Now that we're all gathering, maybe we'll get more answers. After all we can only gain more information at this point," Avani pointed out. "No, it's not ideal that the elders don't know much either. But things can only get better from here." The angel paused and looked towards the werewolf elder.
"Any help would be appreciated I believe. I think we need to discuss the details with everyone, though." It would be important to talk with the others in the prophecy as well as the remaining elders as soon as they got the chance. Maybe there was something to find out if they all met. Of course there was still the problem for the three unaccounted for in the prophecy. Avani wouldn't even know where to begin to look for them. We can worry about that later. Right now th ey had to focus on what they did have, and that was five of the eight they needed.

OK, so I'm just going to send Clarisse to the Gathering point so when everyone gets there, she's just there already. If anyone has a free character feel free to interact. If not, she'll just be there when everyone else arrives. ) Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
"Take this. And this too. Oh! Wait! Your grandmama make this sweater for you for the journey. It's cold in the northern territories and I wouldn't want you to get frostbite!"
Clarisse groaned as the yet another box was placed in her arms, obstructing her vision. Brown eyes peaked around the edge of the largest one, pleasantly and quietly amused, "Ma, what am I going to do with all this? I can't carry it all!"
The older werewolf waved off her concerns, her lips pursing in silent reprimand. Her high, accented voice lifted even higher at the thought of the something so terrifying, "Oh come now, Clari! I can't send you off on your journey with nothing!"
Just to prove a point, the blonde set the boxes down and put her hands on her hips. The other woman adopted the same look and just like that the battle of stubbornness had begun. Clarisse had known it would happen when she stopped by her hometown on the way to the Gather. She had started the journey from a small town with only one sack, a water bottle, and her crystal. No food and no aids. What was the point when she could hunt and wear her fur as armor? She had decided to say her goodbyes to her family pack since she didn't know how long she would be away for whatever she would be doing at the Gather.
Now, as her mother's eyes narrowed threatening, mirroring her own, she fully regretted the decision. Finally her mother broke and sighed, "Fine! Continue on this ridiculous journey with nothing but that run down knapsack! Don't come crying to me when a reaper finds your dead body!"
Clarisse chuckled and wrapped her arms around her ma, "I love you too, ma! Give grandmama kisses one more time for me, ok? I'll see you when I see you!"
And just like that she turned away, stepping off the porch with her 'knapsack' in hand. When she reached the tree line, she shucked off her clothing and slipped it into the bag. She didn't want them ripping off her in the shift. She had always envied shapeshifters for their ability to change everything with them when they shifted. The tears were such a nuisance.
She stepped into the shift, relishing the feeling of her body stretching and returning to its most pure state. It was only a matter of pulling the strap over her massive head before she was ready to travel again. Clarisse journeyed for another two days after that, only stopping beside the creeks and rivers or when she was too tired to move. Thankfully, the only territory she had to cross was her own though hunting posed it challenges. Alpha's usually took hunting in marked territory as a serious offense, resulting in wars between packs.
Yet, she reached the Gather without a challenge. Clarisse had visited once when she was child though she doubted she would remember any of the important landmarks. Some stared when she entered the outskirts of town in her lupine form, but she simply passed without a care. She had to find somewhere to bed down for the night and safely shift after she had more energy to make the transition back. With the full moon coming up, it was becoming harder and harder to be in her two legged form. It was simply more comfortable to be in her true form.
Now to figure out where to go.

//yeah just some weird body aches now, hopefully it blows over
"Indeed, the rest will be back tomorrow around lunch time, but it is much too late to do anything right this moment. I suggest you two get some rest. Do you have a place to stay for the night?" The vampire elder asked as he pushed up his glasses and began to collect his things. Christina took in a deep breath and tried to relax when Avani put a hand on her shoulder. How are we supposed to go to the others and just say that no one knows what's going on or how to help? We can't just jump in and try to save humanity with no instruction manual. She gave a stern nod, before sending a piercing gaze in the direction of the elders. "Yes, we have a place to stay. Thanks," Christina replied coldly before turning on her heels and marching out of the room. She left quickly and stopped once she reached to the elevator, her hands were tingly and she started to shake a bit. She was breathing faster and faster and she reached her hands into her hair and just grabbed it, as thought she was trying to rip it out. "How are we supposed to save the world when all we have to go off of is a poor excuse for a prophecy and some crystals?" She yelled, seemingly talking to herself.

Town Hall. Starchaser made a map of the Gather if you want to get a sense of how the city is organized. ^^
{ Okay, these are just some basic ideas I had. Hopefully they serve as good inspiration. } { I decided to model the Gather after New York City quite a bit, making it divided into several districts. The map is very basic right now; I just wanted to be able to picture the general layout of the city. I also thought that the city would have something kind of like the Statue of Liberty, given it's supposed to be a place of hope where everyone gets along. The "Torches of Peace," two huge stone pillars with a enchanted everlasting fire, are located at the main entrance to the Gather to serve as that. I also imagined there's a big stone carving of the original founders of Fylaria's nations (Mt. Rushmore-esque touch) somewhere, probably in Central District. I think an underground subway system would be the most common method of transportation.
North District (Gray-blue): The largest and second-most densely populated of the districts, as well as one of the most visited districts in the Gather. North District is the shopping and business hub of the Gather. Its architecture is the most modern and features enormous skyscrapers.
South District (Golden): The second-largest and most heavily populated district. This is where the majority of the Gather's citizens live. As such, this district contains most survival necessities such as grocery stores, hospitals, schools, and dozens of neighborhoods. It has a more suburban feel to it than North District and has several parks and even campgrounds. Within this district are often areas that cater more to certain monster species, so that everyone can find somewhere they feel they fit.
Central District (White): As its name would indicate, Central District is located in the middle of the Gather. It is one of the smaller districts, known mostly for governmental affairs. Town Hall is located here, along with the Spire, which stands smack dab in the center of the Gather. The Spire is the tallest building in Fylaria and holds a variety of establishments inside. It gets less tourism than North District, but is also a popular area with famous museums, statues, gardens, and other aesthetic attractions. Also home to the largest, oldest, and most prestigious university in Fylaria. Its architecture resembles Ancient Greek styles combined with modernism, and it has a more open, elegant design. This is where many festivals, parades, and events are hosted.
Vegas District (Turquoise): Among the smallest but proudest districts. This district is known for its shopping, fine dining, entertainment, gambling, and vibrant nightlife. This is the place where the ritzy, glamorous, and adventurous come to play. Also home to most of Fylaria's celebrities and always has some sort of party or event going on. Its basically fantasy Las Vegas. Also has Fylaria's only amusement park.
Old District (Sepia): The oldest and least populated district. Popular destination for tourists, but not nearly so much as North or Central District. One of its most popular attractions is the Bazaar, a sprawling open market with vendors selling every item under the sun. At night, this district more resembles a ghost town. Architecture is best described as medieval fantasy.
Midnight District (Dark Blue): A district left in perpetual twilight due to a magic shroud. The most common hangout for vampires, reapers, werewolves, and demons. Can be further separated into two districts colloquially known as the Lunar District and Umbra District. Lunar District is the above-ground area. Its dominated by shops, cafes, clubs, etc. Umbra District is located underground and where most of the housing is. Gothic architecture is the style that dominates here, of course.
Unnamed District (Dark Gray): The smallest district. Mostly known for its art scene and diversity. It has a surprisingly large population given its size. This is where most of the theaters, libraries, museums, and other forms of entertainment can be found. Left this one a little less detailed so others could add on if they wanted.
Unnamed District (Light Blue): Wanted other people to be able to contribute if they wanted, so this one is a blank slate. }

Okay, here we go! Also, here's my previous post, so you know what Zephyr has been up to. ^^
While the other chosen ones were meeting up, getting to know each other, and exploring the different places the Gather had to offer, Zephyr was... doing none of that. His evening went something like this:
After landing, Zephyr was almost immediately approached by a kid barely old enough to be out late, let alone in the Vagas District. Then again, Zephyr really couldn't blame the kid. He himself had been in this District many times before he was technically old enough.
The kid's eyes were wide as he looked from Zephyr to the air above him and back again. "Oh wow. You're a Shapeshifter — a good one. How did you get so good at shifting in motion?"
Shifting in motion was a term Shifters used to refer to, well, shifting in motion. Essentially, an "in motion" shift was where one form was moving one way (i.e. flying), but when they shift into another form, they effortlessly alter their motion to seamlessly flow into the movements of the new form. In Zephyr's case, he went from flying to walking without hesitation, pause, or stumble. Shifting in motion was a skill all Shifters had to work at, and it was one many were never able to master. Some could perfect it with a few choice forms, but very few could pull it off no matter the form they took.
Zephyr was one of those few, though he rarely — scratch that, he had never been complimented for it before. He was pretty sure no one had ever noticed, and if they did, then they had no idea that what they had seen was anything special.
"Practice, kid," Zephyr replied with a grin. "Practice and repetition."
The kid frowned. "There's no way it's that easy."
That made Zephyr laugh. "Who said anything about easy?"
"I, well, you — Wait, what?"
Zephyr chuckled again. He threw one arm around the kid's shoulders and started walking with him. "What's your name, kid?"
He looked a little surprised by Zephyr's casual embrace, but also pleased. "Kai," he said.
"Nice to meet you, Kai. I'm Zephyr. Now, why don't we finish this conversation over a hot meal? You look like you could use one." Zephyr cast a critical eye over Kai. The kid was tall but slim, barely on the right side of skinny. Zephyr couldn't quite peg his age, but he couldn't have been older than fifteen or sixteen. And his dingy clothes suggested his life was a far cry from one of luxury.
Kai turned a little suspicious at the offer, but it was also clear that he was hungry. "I can't... I don't have any... money."
Zephyr canted his head. "I offered you food. You really expect me to make you pay for it? Come on, I got you covered." He lowered his arm and put his hands in his pockets as he continued on, leaving the choice up to Kai.
Zephyr counted the seconds in his head as he walked slowly away: Three... two... one—
"Wait." Kai broke into a jog to catch up. He fell in beside Zephyr and looked up at him with a hesitant smile. "You buy me food and answer my questions, and I'll take you wherever you want to go. I know this city better than anyone," he boasted, with just enough sincerity that Zephyr believed his claim. "Deal?"
A slow grin slid over Zephyr's face, and he put his arm back around Kai's shoulders. "Deal."
~ • ~ • ~ Zephyr spent over an hour at the restaurant, answering Kai's endless stream of questions while they both ate enough food for three people. Kai's appetite was because he was still growing and probably hadn't had a decent meal in weeks; Zephyr's was thanks to all the shifting, which burned energy. The larger the shift, the more energy burned.
Between Kai's questions about shifting in motion (and shifting in general), Zephyr managed to ask a few of his own. He learned that Kai was actually seventeen — barely — and that he lived in the Warehouse District, which didn't surprise him. The Warehouse District was where the poorest of the Gather's citizens lived. It was definitely the worst part of the entire city, and a place Zephyr was all too familiar with. He didn't mind leaving discussions about it behind.
Kai actually had a job here in Vagas District, and he had just gotten off when he saw Zephyr arrive. He had been on his way home, but promised no one would mind him staying out late. Zephyr knew Kai had almost said "care" instead of "mind," if only because that was something he had said many times when he was younger. But he didn't question the kid on it; they just moved the conversation along.
They mostly talked about shifting. Kai was a half-breed, and like all half-breeds he took after only one parent: the Shapeshifter. He didn't know what kind of monster his father was; his mother never spoke about the man. Also common in half-breeds was their weaker powers and less control over their shift. While a full-blooded Shifter could take any animal form imaginable (with limits on how long they could hold any given form based on how powerful they were), a half-breed Shifter could often only shift into a handful of different forms, and those were generally the first dozen or so the Shifter tried to take during childhood and adolescence. Then they would hit a point where they just couldn't take any new forms, usually just before or just after adulthood. There were exceptions, of course, where half-breed Shifters were as powerful as full-blooded ones, but they were very rare.
Along with questions about how to shift in motion, Kai asked Zephyr if he had any ideas for new animal forms before Kai's settling, which he said was close — he could feel it. To which Zephyr responded by asking which animals the boy already had in his arsenal.
Kai sat back in his seat (after finishing his third plate of food) and counted them out on his fingers. "Okay, okay, let's see... all seven of the biggest big cats, as well as the lynx and the bobcat. Then there's the red-tailed hawk, peregrine falcon, and bald eagle."
Zephyr propped his elbow on the back of his seat and rested his cheek on his upraised fist. "Sounds like you like cats," he said dryly. Kai blushed slightly, but Zephyr continued, "But I'm impressed. Seven big cats? That's not easy for half-breeds. But you have them, plus five more. Are you sure you have room for more?"
Kai, still looking pleased at the praise, nodded. "Yeah, I can fit one more. Maybe two, if they're smaller. So what —"
"A fox," Zephyr replied. "A red fox and, if you can manage it, a rat or a squirrel."
Kai blinked. "But those..." He didn't finish, but his disappointment with those options was clear.
Zephyr lowered his arm and sat forward, pushing his empty plate to one side so he could rest his arms on the table. "Those aren't very interesting, right? They're not. But you already have an arsenal of muscle at your disposal for fighting, defense, and escape. You need to add something more... subtle. Look at it this way: why do people hate rats?"
Kai crossed his arms and arched one brow. "Because they're dirty, carry diseases, and eat everything."
Zephyr gave him a bland look. "Because they can get into anything. Get anywhere. They can fit through the smallest holes and openings. And they're smart. If not for that, they wouldn't be able to live around people, and people wouldn't know about their nastier qualities — qualities, I might add, that only real rats possess. You wouldn't, if you turned into a rat."
Kai didn't look convinced. "Yeah, but... what would I do as a rat? What use would that be?"
Zephyr shrugged. "That's up to you, but if you think about it, and imagine the world from a rat's point of view, I think you'll be able to think up a few things."
That made Kai frown, thoughts churning as he tried to puzzle out Zephyr's words. Zephyr watched him a moment, smiling faintly, before sitting back and signaling the waitress.
"Why a fox?" Kai asked suddenly. "I'm not really a fan of canines."
Zephyr chuckled. "Yeah, I guessed that. But foxes are wily. Sly. Cunning. And small enough to go unnoticed if they need to. Plus they're cute." Zephyr grinned. "The ladies love cute animals."
That had Kai blushing again. "Right. Well, I'll think about it. Thank you, Zephyr. For... everything."
"You're welcome, kid." Zephyr picked up the bill the waitress placed face-down on the table, then pulled his wallet out of his inside jacket pocket. His fingers brushed his crystal as he did. He handed the waitress cash, told her to keep the change, and returned the wallet to his pocket. "Now," he said with a grin. "Let's go see this city." Kai showed him the city, all right.
They hit arcades, casinos, amusement parks. They played games, bluffed their way through cards, and rode crazy rollercoasters. It was nonstop — nonstop fun, endless action, and a wild array of exciting challenges. Zephyr's favorite part was the indoor amusement park, where they got to scale rock walls, walk through an obstacle course fifty feet in the air, zipline across the property, and go for a scavenger hunt in a huge indoor greenhouse. It was the best night of his life, and it made him feel like a kid again.
And Kai kept up with him all night. He definitely qualified as interesting company, and he truly hadn't been bluffing: he knew this city better than anyone, and he proved it by showing Zephyr all the big stuff — and the smaller things that only the locals knew about.
Like the paintball arena, where dozens of people teamed up and then went all out to "kill" each other. The last man (or woman) standing was given a whopping five hundred dollar prize money. Zephyr's competitive streak got lit something fierce over that one, and he took no prisoners and kicked ass on that field. But Kai's stunned expression when he walked away with his prize money, not a single drop of paint on him, was definitely the better reward.
There was also the virtual reality laser tag, the Midnight Maze, and the Treetop Adventure. Zephyr excelled at the first two, and the third offered a nice, quiet break before they hit the next part of their wild ride.
One of the local celebrities was hosting a party, a giant basher that literally anyone could go to if they could get there. Kai apparently knew people who knew people who knew the celebrity host, and they had told him about it. He hadn't been planning on going, but now that he had a wingman, he was game. (Zephyr laughed at the "wingman" comment and corrected the kid, saying Kai was Zephyr's wingman, but nice try, kid.)
That was were they planned on ending their night. They were on their way there when Kai suddenly elbowed Zephyr and pointed down the street. "Dude, check it out. Werewolf in wolf form."
Zephyr followed the kid's gaze, one brow arching slightly as he took in the large, cream-furred she-wolf trotting smartly down the sidewalk. He tilted his head curiously as his gaze found the backpack hanging around her neck. Odd, for a Werewolf to bother with one in wolf form... unless she had been traveling a long while.
Like all the way from Werewolf territory.
Zephyr almost laughed. There was no sign of a crystal, but something told him he'd unintentionally found the Werewolf from the prophecy.
Kai nudged him again, grinning mischievously. "Bet you can't shift into a wolf that size," he taunted.
Zephyr sent him a look. The kid had learned quickly that Zephyr always took his "bets" seriously — and always proved him wrong. "Watch me," he said simply.
He put one hand on Kai's shoulder, forcing the kid to a stop. Then he took two running steps forward and shifted. Between one step and the next, he went from running on two legs to loping along on four. People jumped back with startled exclaimations, and some even cheered, as if Zephyr was just putting on a show. He ignored them, heading right for the Werewolf so he could prove his wolf was just as big as hers.
His was bigger, actually. Not taller, but his being male gave him about twenty pounds on her. His red-brown fur was also thicker, especially his scruff, which made him appear larger still. He slowed to a trot as he approached the female, and adopted an assertive but non-threatening posture.
Zephyr was a Shapeshifter, not a Werewolf, so behaving like a wolf wasn't as instinctual as it was for Werewolves. But he had taken wolf form enough times over the years to be comfortable in that form, and he had even spent a year living with a Werewolf, so he knew how to interact with them.
It was quickly apparent that this female had traveled far, and she was tired and possibly cranky because of it. Zephyr wondered if she was even capable of taking human form right now. He stopped a few feet from her, and left it up to her to close the remaining distance between them. He was close enough for Kai to see the size difference, which wasn't much. This was an unusually large female. But at least he had still been able to prove Kai wrong — again.

(It's not great, but at least your feeling better. Hopefully you'll be fully recovered by tomorrow.
Thanks, though I would hardly call my map better because it's a different style. It shows buildings and landmarks(kind of). Also, didn't have the additions of fun/interesting/cool headcanons for the city.)
Avani was going to reply, but Christina spoke for them. The angel blinked in surprise. She didn't expect to have somewhere to go. In fact, she really didn't have much of a plan for what she was going to do in terms of housing arrangements while in the Gather. The angel was glad at least one of them knew what they were doing. She noticed the glare Christina gave to the elders. What's that about? The reaper turned to leave, still seeming tense. Avani frowned slightly. Something about the current situation was really bothering Christina, though she didn't quite know what it was. The lack of information? The fact that she was in the prophecy in the first place? The worry of the unknown? All were entirely possible. Avani would just have to ask her later. For now she turned towards the elders and gave them a respectful nod.
"Yes, we'll meet back up tomorrow. Thank you for seeing us and have a good night," the angel said before following the reaper. The room had grown rather quiet, only the sounds of footsteps echoing off the walls filled the area. The weighty silence bothered her. There seemed to be some undertone of unease within the room. The angel sighed and followed the younger woman into the elevator. The doors closed and they began their descent. There was silence for a few moments. Then Christina ran her hands through her hair and began to yell. Once more the angel blinked in surprise. Avani gazed at the reaper, eyes soft and comforting. Despite her silence she couldn't help but acknowledge Christina had a point. How were they supposed to save anyone if they didn't know what to do? Instead of voicing her current thoughts, Avani smiled at the girl.
"We will figure it out. It will take some time and it's easier said than done, but we will get answers. The adventure's only just begun and there's still things to discover," the girl encouraged. Avani had no idea if she were really helping her friend or making things worse for her. It was easy for the angel to look at situations positively and remain in an optimistic mindset. However something that was reassuring to her wasn't for everyone. She could only try and help Christina feel better.

Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
The Gather was much bigger than her memory as a child recalled. Somehow Clarisse had made it across only some of the multiple districts, staying on the outskirts to keep herself from drawing attention. Yet, as she finally decided to journey inward to try and find Central district or Town Hall or something, she found herself a big lost. Well maybe not lost... the Spire was large and she could have found Central district well enough.
But with the moon still high in the sky and some time to kill before she settled down for the night, she decided she might as well find out why the Vegas District had a reputation. For far, no one had bothered her though there was an occasional lingering look of interest. Those were the ones that she flashed her teeth at to show them not to mess with her. The crowds were thicker, making it harder for her to remain in her wolf form.
She had just started to look for a quiet place, out of sight and mind so she could shift back in peace when the air changed around her. Her eyes flicked side to side, trying to pinpoint the site of the switch. Behind you - She turned her massive head in time to see a man about her age completing a running shift. Expert eyes tracked him as he came towards her. No shredded clothes. A Shapeshifter then. Oh God, yep. Smells like one too.
Her instincts kicked in when he came a little too close: her lips pulled back slightly to warn him to stay back. His wolf was probably the biggest non-werewolf form she had ever seen though he wasn't much bigger than herself. With thick, russet brown scruff and piercing eyes, he could have tricked her if he could find a way to mask the obvious scent of shapeshifter that clung to his pores. The set of his legs and the tilt of his chin showed a lack of dominance though it was obvious that he was trying to look or act bigger and badder.
It was then that she felt comfortable pulling her ears forward and raising her tail a little higher in his presence. Clarisse, despite the fact that he wasn't her kind, had no intention of starting of fight in the middle of the street. She didn't smell any aggression, only curiosity and mischief. The breeze rustled her creamy fur as she slowly walked up to him until she was muzzle to muzzle. She bowed her neck slightly in a show of slight dominance as she was accustomed to when meeting strange and unthreatening wolves.
Slowly, as if not to scare him, she pushed her nose into the side of his muzzle, trying to pick up his scent and whether or not -
Clarisse pulled back, watching him as she realized she had let her instincts overcome her. Everyone was staring now and some were whispering amongst themselves. This isn't home anymore, Clari. You're in the middle of the street. Act like it, yeah? She couldn't find it within herself to be embarrassed though because she had picked up an earthy scent, one that melded together with her crystal. Her eyes glimmered and she brushed past him to leave. She licked at her mouth as he finally passed him, leaving it up to him to follow or not.
Looks like I'll be seeing you soon either-way.
The crowd, seeing as there would be no show, moved on. Clarisse began to weave her way through the crowd, but not before she came upon a younger man that smelled faintly of the wolf. She dwarfed him as she approached, smelling him as well for another crystal. When she didn't find one, she simply shoved him good-naturedly with her head and trotted away.
