Bramblepath shook his head. "It's more important that we get you back safely. Burdock root is mostly used for treating rat bites, and as there hasn't been any rats sighted for a while now, I don't think we'll need it," he said to Mothpelt. He paused for a second, worried that he might be wrong. He shook himself and focused on the task at hand. "Besides, I can always go out tommorow and pick it. Rat bites normally aren't instantly lethal," he said, as much for his own benefit as Mothpelt's.

Mothpelt nodded her head. “Once again, I’m sorry we didn’t get the burdock roots today.” She replied. Even if their wasn’t a rat sighting in a while, if they did show up and cats got hurt, it’d be on her, because she wasn’t watching where she was going. “If there’s a way I can make it up to you, let me know.” She often offered deals if she felt she had wronged a cat, it was her way of ensuring that she atoned for any transgression she had done.

Bramblepath laughed a little as he slowly stood up and stretched his legs. "There's nothing you need to make up to me in the first place. You wouldn't be the first cat who fell in the river while trying to help me gather herbs, and you certainly won't be the last," he said with a chuckle. He flicked her with his tail and started moving towards the entrance of the cave, turning around to make sure that Mothpelt was following.

Fox slowly made her way out of the kit den, having spent the night, yet again, with Mallowkit. She knew the way of things here was to leave him with the other kits and join the warriors in their own den, but as of right now, she neither felt ready to leave her child alone nor prepared to join the ranks of the other warriors. 'Other warriors'...what a strange turn of events that now lumped her in with them. She would be a warrior too, now, as soon as she received the second half of her name.

If that ever happened. Her pelt prickled as she sat out in the open, surveying the area, and she resisted the urge to turn and slink back into the kit den, out of the eyes of the other cats. After all...she may have decided to come here, for Mallowkit's sake, but it must be blatantly obvious to everyone looking at her ragged pelt and rough demeanor that she was no Clan cat.

Mallowkit w/ Fox and Spiderblossom [rockydublin <Raintalon>]

The fact that his mother had left him alone in the kit den without telling him what he was supposed to be doing had the small form of a fluff ball waddling after Fox as if his life depended on it. His little, thin legs moved like small twigs and his head tilted this way and that in an attempt to see everyone around him.
"Ma'ma," he wined. "I want to play a game?" He made it sound like a question rather than a demand. This made it seem like Fox didn't have to play ... but Mallowkit was making the sort of face he did when some cat really didn't have a choice.

Mara suffered another bout of laughing at Aspenthorn's response. Forget being the only cat from Sparrowclan that she had heard talk this way, she had never heard any cat talking about themselves this way. The only one that came close was her father. As soon as her thoughts drifted to her father, the laughter died in her throat. She simply couldn't find it in her any more. "I guess that depends on who you talk to. My father would have to take the cake for 'unique' and 'special', and not in a good way," Mara said, her voice flat and almost entirely devoid of emotion.

Mallowkit's request filled Fox with no small amount of relief, and some of the tension in her scarred shoulders melted away as she turned to address her kit.

She'd never been gripped with terror as strong as when Mallowkit had been hungry enough to stop asking to play. That was what had made her walk for days on end, desperate for catch the scent of other cats. Out of place or not...he was what mattered, and he was doing better. Thank the stars.

"Alright, mouse," she said with a purr. "What would you like to play?"

Her question was interrupted, though, as another cat joined them, and she tensed again, automatically moving to place herself between Spiderblossom and Mallowkit. "I'm well," she answered stiffly, and then, trying to be polite, added, "And you?"

Bramblepath shook his head kindly as he started the slow trudge back to the camp. "I don't wait until my entire stock goes bad to collect new. If I did that, then a cat might actually die on my watch. I have enough back at the camp to treat a cat or two in case of emergencies, and unless a swarm of rats overruns the entire camp, then there wouldn't be more than one or two cats getting bitten anyways. All we have to worry about right now is getting back to camp," he said. He decided not to mention that part of the reason he wanted to get back to camp is that he always felt paranoid about being away from the camp for too long. Despite his best attempts to educate some of the warriors and apprentices, if something actually did happen while he was gone, he was sure that it wouldn't end well.

Mallowkit stuck his head around Fox and looked up at Spiderblossom with wide and excited eyes. "Can you play too?" he asked, looking over at his mother for some attempt at confirmation. He could feel her fur bristling just a bit and he butted his head against her side. "Chase me?" he asked excitedly. He darted out of Fox's reach and headed straight for Spiderblossom, laughing as he did.
"Chase me!" he said excitedly as he passed Spiderblossom.

"Both actually. I do have an apprentice, but I wish that every warrior had enough basic knowledge of my job to keep someone alive until I got back if both I and my apprentice are out of camp," Bramblepath said, glad to shift the topic away from what it had been. He glanced back at Mothpelt for a moment as he continued. "I know that a lot of it is my own overreaction, but I would rather take the nescessary precautions and never have to use them then not do anything and have a cat die because of it."

Spiderblossom watched as the kit ran towards her and then she saw her mother unsheathe her claws. It was understandable. She watched as the cat calmed herself. “It’s alright dear. I can play for a bit, I’m Spiderblossom.” She introduced herself.
