The Erins chose his name, so I don’t think the Erins could be that creative with coming up an explanation for his name. Probably going to be named after Dewspring, because I predict he’s going to be killed. I hope that isn't the case. It was actually the fans who chose Rootpaw's name, but the Erins might still give his name an in-universe explanation. I feel like a better meaning will be because of Spring coming after a long bad Winter for the cats...I can only hope.

Funnily enough, this book made me like Lionblaze and Breezepelt, who I've never been that fond of/outright disliked, but made me really dislike Berrynose, who I've always had mostly positive feelings on. What selfishly ambitious behaviour.
Squirrelflight can't catch a break, what an awful time she's been having recently. Sparkpelt too.
The callback to the first arc with the dog attack was a nice touch, if it was intended as foreshadowing.
I'm glad Bristlefrost wisened up in this book. I don't think I would have held it against her, because she's so young, but I'm glad they didn't drag it out for too long. Thank you very much Faith for the spoilers : -)

I can’t stand Fakestar. He’s doing too much. I do find it interesting that when it was pointed out Bramblefake was breaking the code he immediately reminded them of the leader’s word being law. But later, when it was suggested they banish Bramblefake...that’s actually possible. Even though the leader has the so-called final say, if it’s harming the Clan the leader can be driven out. Like Brokenstar. Also, how dare he exile Squirrelflight. Imma kick his behind ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/6575102/images/rLA6WpAMA09VX7PK0zXs.gif)

Final thoughts.
Wow. Wow, wow, wow. What a fantastic beginning to the arc. This is starting to feel a lot like OS and TNP, but with a lot less death.
Antfur- falls off a tree, dies Sparkpelt- savaged by dogs, lives (I see the TC bias continues. There better be more than a couple deaths before the end of this arc.)
Poor Cinnamontail. I really hope she's pregnant with his kits. Or any tom's kits. I just want some Cinnamon kits.
Bramblefake is out of control. Exiling cats? Threatening to hurt apprentices? Trying to get dissenters killed? Sounds an awful lot like Brokenstar. (Yes, I know he is dead dead.)
Glad to see Bristlefrost got knocked off her high horse. She was turning into an extreme version of Hollyleaf.
God, that ending. I'm sure Shadowsight won't be killed off this early at least. It could be a vision, or he could just survive a bad attack.

I'm kinda torn, because on one hand, I'd love for them to kill Shadowsight off. Them killing a POV character like that, without warning? Oof! Nobody's safe! Now we're really talking, Erins!
But on the other hand, I like that we aren't seeing just ThC cats' POVs, so that'd be a bummer. Since Shadowsight is the only young, relevant ShC cat in this arc (from what we can tell, anyway, what with his siblings not seen as prophecy-relevant), I also doubt we'd get another ShC POV if he died. I presume we'd just stick with Bristlefrost and Rootpaw, and I don't want that.
...Unless the POV then jumped to RiC, which was the plan all along! 👀 Okay, that's extremely unlikely, but I'd love it, anyway.

Wow. Just read where Antfur died and honestly I’m disgusted. Tigerstar and Puddleshine should of never let him go out. Completely irresponsible.

I've seen theories spark up that the attacker could have damaged Shadowsight's vocal chords to keep him quiet and scared, which would be cool, but I don't think I can see that going very far. A mute cat would be cool, but I don't think it would happen for a POV. I do think it's 50/50 on him being killed, then he could literally try to find StarClan. Plus we have ghost summoners so he's not really gone I guess. I also think it's interesting that Berrynose was Bramblestar's apprentice. If the Impostor is going out of their way to not only punish cats but also make Bramblestar look terrible, it shows at least some bias. Berrynose being deputy also punishes me because I cannot stand his lil behind ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/6575102/images/rLA6WpAMA09VX7PK0zXs.gif)

Reading spoilers: Well you got your wish people. Berrynose as deputy - in the worst scenario that could be possible.
I swear the Erins are making all the things everyone complained / wantred to happen over the past years true now, but in the wost ways possible.

And its a pretty dark theory too, but then again, the whole of this new series (I forgot the name o.O) is pretty intense.

If Shadowsight actually dies, it'd be interesting if Rootpaw could see his ghost and still communicate with him.

I have this strange feeling Shadowsight dies, but he's still a POV in Veil of Shadows. He haunts Rootpaw, since he's the only one who can see him.
