Absolute fools haha I would love to see that askldfjalsd)
"If we start using your car you can drive." Leon said, patting his mostly run down car. It may be an older car with dents and scratches, but it had been with him since he started this job. Once they were in the car he took a moment to call his boss and let her know what had happened. Like he had assumed, she didn't stop them and simply told them to be careful. There was a warning in her tone, and Leon knew that she'd be pissed if they messed this up. With that taken care of, he started the car and the drive towards the new building.

(Honestly anything with them interacting in a way that's just a bit more chill might break them. Vote we make them relax after this next plot point? XD )
"If I had a car," Percival pointed out, rolling his eyes. He'd kept his tone lighthearted. Or as lighthearted as he could ever get with someone who wasn't even really a friend. It might not make the whole experience easier, but it made Percival feel better. He settled into the passenger seat, like before. Only this time he didn't know completely where they were going. He watched out the window for a couple of seconds, then another couple of minutes. Then he reached over and flicked on the radio. Music. Old 80s music. Then he dropped his hand away again.

Haha yeah, they deserve a bit of a break! Though Leon WILL complain about it lmao)
Leon didn't complain about the music choice. When he was driving he usually preferred to have some sort of background noise anyways. And it was far better than a long stretch of silence between them. He glanced down at the address every once in a while, assuring that he was still headed in the correct direction. Who knows, this might be the moment they ran into the Priestess, or someone who knew where she could be found.

(Same with Percival, honestly.)
"Were you on this case for a while?" asked Percival. He was looking out the window, but the question was still clearly directed at Leon. He didn't know much about the human and he supposed it was high time he learned. Anyway, he wasn't going to be left with just the radio. Percival could be nice, but he wasn't socially aware enough of the fact that maybe Leon wouldn't want to hear too much of someone else talking. It wasn't a though that crossed his mind. As it was, the opinion of Percival in relation to the case might be a bit flimsy. Or at least hold some resentment.

they're sitting at the movies, both incredibly pissed. the people around them think it's a date gone wrong or something lol)
Leon glanced at Percival out of the corner of his eye and said "I've been on this case for a few months now. We've been tracking the murder cases, and when the evidence pointed to her coming to this city I was appointed the head detective for it." he tapped on the steering wheel as he waited for the light to turn green "Honestly, we haven't had much luck with it. So, I suppose it's a good thing we found someone who knows more about this case than we do." it sounded like he wasn't all that glad, but at the same time he had to admit that they weren't getting far themselves.

(Percival would be too annoyed to refute it.)
"You mean me coming to the city," Percival muttered. He looked straight ahead at the road. He wasn't sure what to think about the fact that people had thought he was the problem up until a couple days ago. But that still didn't mean he wasn't having issues with not knowing where she would be. At least before he had known she was following him. That he was the only way she continued under the radar. So. That surely meant that she'd change where she was going now. That he was no longer going to have people die near him. "This is the closest I've ever gotten to her," he said after a second. Not counting before, of course. Her reflection as she took his and Marcus' picture. He shook the thought away. "If that means anything," he added. "I'll do whatever it takes to make her pay." It had always been personal for him. He was just sad that it was personal for Leon now.

"I'll make sure you get the chance to make her pay." Leon insisted. He'd hunt her down if it was the last thing he did. She didn't deserve to be free and out there to hurt anyone, to kill anyone else. Leon didn't know Percivals entire story, but even he deserved to see her put in jail. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, eager to get to the building and see what they could find out. It bugged him to see a case go unsolved like this.

It was a nice promise. But it felt about as empty as the one that Percival had made on the same subject. Even still, he appreciated it. "What do you do?" he said after a second. Apparently even with music on, it prompted him to talk. "When you're not working?" It was an interesting concept, but he hadn't been able to gleam much from the brief moments he had spent in Leon's house. It seemed more likely that he had one of those all-consuming jobs, but Percival wasn't one to assume.

Leon opened his mouth, paused, then closed it. What did he do outside of work? Eventually he said "I rest, and eat. Most of my time is spent doing my job." due to his workaholic nature he didn't quite realize how pathetic that sentence was. Most people had a healthy balance of work, social life, and rest time. Leon obviously didn't have that skill "What do you spend your time doing? When you're not following a murderer?"

That was as good of a return question as Percival had directed at Leon. And he had roughly the same answer ... It had been a long time since he had done anything for himself - much less for fun. "I don't remember," he finally said. "It's been a while. I'm not even sure if I did if I would find it fun anymore." That was sad and he knew it. There wasn't much getting around that fact. "I had friends," he said after a second. "A while ago." He wondered of Leon had friends. Or had. He left that open to see if he would say anything else.

Leon snorted lightly "Looks like we're both pathetic when it comes to a social life." he wouldn't have taken offense if Percival had taken a few jabs at him, his work ethic was a bit over kill after all. But to know Percival was also just as bad as him was somewhat comforting to know. At least they'd be focused on the job and nothing else while working together.

"It can be a bit trying at times," Percival admitted. He didn't have the same view as Leon. While he liked for himself that he only had work to focus on ... it seemed like there was a part of Leon which deserved more than just that. He had lost his work partner. That meant work had to be hard. He had nothing in his own life to distract from it. Regardless of purpose, Percival didn't think that would be healthy for the case either. It was something he would try to help with later. Instead, he relaxed back into his seat. If Leon wanted conversation, it could be his turn. Otherwise he'd wait for them to arrive.

Leons mind was filled with thoughts of the case, so he wasn't focused on the conversation as it lulled between them. Thankfully the silence didn't last long as the got closer to the new address. He was glad that his car didn't stand out as a police vehicle, or they might scare away anyone in there "I'm going to park a few buildings away as to not draw attention." he said, pulling in front of another building. Leon switched off the car and made sure he was prepared.

"Makes sense," said Percival softly. He felt like this was a bit of an obvious move, but he didn't mind. There was more to be said about the silence and he didn't blame Leon for breaking it. He unbuckled his seatbelt, but that was about all he did while he waited for Leon to take inventory. He didn't have anything. He didn't own anything. (To be noted, he didn't even own a second pair of clothes. He wondered when Leon would notice.) And truthfully, unless there were specially prepared weapons in the hands of a human, he could be about as effective against other vampires as one would expect. He waited for Leon to be ready.

Leon nodded to Percival, gesturing for him to lead the way. Maybe if they saw a vampire approaching they wouldn't do anything rash. He had a feeling that if a detective just walked up there they might just run, that is if there was anyone there in the first place. Leon followed after Percival, locking the car as they walked.

There wasn't a lot to say about Leon's assumption that Percival going first would do anything. For starters, the best case scenario was that it would just serve as a sort of shield. He was a wanted man among vampires too - and likely hadn't gotten any sort of pardon either. In which case, it was a bit obvious that this wasn't going to go well. But Percival walked forward, his posture reminiscent of Leon's. He stepped up to the door and waited. Then, very carefully, knocked. The door, unlocked and partly open, very slowly creaked open. "That's what I thought," murmured Percival.

Leon waited as Percival knocked on the door, and looked closer as it slowly opened. This wasn't the first time he'd walked into something blind, but it never got easier. He was wary, but after a lot of practice it didn't show in how he held himself. Leon didn't even have a hand on his gun. It wasn't rare that people would see detectives with a gun or badge and just run.

Percival glanced sideways at Leon, then shoot his head slowly. This was going in blind. Very slowly, his fingers spread at his side, fingers hooking. No need for a gun if he was going up against humans. Even vampires would have a bit of an issue. He nodded to the side, indicating that he should watch out in case anyone tried to come around the edges. "Hello?" he called. He stepped through the door, slowly. There was a slowness in his step, but already he could smell the faint scent of blood. "Someone is hurt," he murmured.

"What do you mean?" Leon asked, gaze sharpening "Are they still here?" if he just smelt blood, there was a chance the person had been here but was gone. Leon started to head into the house, more interested in what was going on than his own safety apparently. Would they really be so lucky, or perhaps so unlucky, to run into the Priestess already?

"I don't know yet," said Percival softly. He didn't know yet if it was enough blood to kill someone. He'd know better when he got closer to the room where the blood had been spilled. He walked slowly through the house. He didn't want to risk Leon's safety. Then again ... He sped up, stepping into the back rooms as he went, glancing all over the place as he did. There had to be some sort of clue and he didn't want to miss it before he found the body. "They're dead," he said to Leon. He was holding back entering the room for now. Vampires and blood ...

Leon frowned and nodded "I'm going to enter the room." if someone was dead he had a job to do. The detective approached the door and carefully placed his hand on the door handle. He listened intently for any noise, and when there was seemingly none he turned the knob and pushed open the door, ready for whatever was going to be there.

Hanging back, Percival didn't see what was in the room. But he did watch Leon's back to see what his reaction was. Hopefully there wouldn't be something he was needed for. He couldn't hear anything living in the room. Which might be his undoing, considering vampires, but thus far he'd had no hint that someone was still here. The body lay slumped in a chair, head at an odd angle. There was clearly other problems with it - like the fact that whoever she'd been, she'd met a vampire - but the clear point was that she was dead. "What is it?" asked Percival from behind Leon.

Sorry for being slow af lol)
"A body, don't touch anything. I'm going to call this in." Leon ordered, taking a closer look at the body as he pulled out his phone to call. He made sure to stay out of anything that might smudge the evidence, and made sure not to touch the body "You happen to know who she is?" he added, glancing over his shoulder at Percival. Then he glanced back down his phone and went to press the call button.

(Ha ha ha. >:3 )
Percival took a small step forward, his blood already growing cold himself. Ah. Of course. Why should he have expected something better? He never seemed to get a break. Neither did anyone he knew. "Her name is Clarinet," he said, voice running through pitches that he wasn't comfortable with or used to. "This ... as far as I know ... this isn't her house. I don't know why she's here. I ... I ..." He'd never stumbled over his words like this. He shook his head a couple times, face grim. "This isn't what should have happened."

So he knew this woman. Leon nodded "I... am sorry you know her. But do you know if someone would have killed her? If the Priestess knew her?" Percival was probably one of the few people that could make the connections. He approached the body and took a closer look "If she has any connections, they might be able to lead us closer to our goal." Leon knew all to well how much it stung to lose someone you knew, but he also had the terrible coping habit of ignoring it in favor of work.

"Of course she knew here!" Percival finally snapped, turning on Leon, his eyes suddenly going red. "Of course. She knew all of us. All my friends. My ... my ..." He couldn't say it. "All of them! And I - I was the one who found his body. And now Clarinet too. But she had nothing, nothing to do with this. She ... she thought I did this just as much as you lot did up until a day ago and now she's dead." He paced around the room. Something he knew he shouldn't do, that there was evidence. But he did it anyway. "And I don't know why. I didn't then and I don't know. And I don't know a pattern, other than it seems to be around me, about me. That people keep dying around me, Leon, and she does it. And I'm sure she finds it funny." He glanced at Leon, eyes half lidded so it was harder to see the pain. "I don't know a connection. Not unless it's me. That I'm always the connection. This isn't any different ..."
