I'm going to just put some ideas I have for a clan that isn't a clan but isn't a tribe. They follow a code and they listen to the Stars - not starclan. Anyways, here are my ideas.
Name ideas since it is not a clan / tribe ; Circle, Brotherhood, Faction, Society [ this will also have added title to it. ]
Ex. The Brotherhood of Pines - Circle of the Shadows - etc.
The leader gets 9 lives, each life means something and they will have a mark burned upon their forehead of their status. Each lost life, they relive a death from those that give the life. The 9 nines basically makes the leader age slower than the rest of the clan.
Apprentice's train at 6 moons - 1 moon they train in herbs - 1 moon they train in battle - 1 moon they train hunting - 1 moon they train in protection - 1 moon they train in building - 1 moon they are tested to leave the territory and survive.
medicine cat = healer. i really dont like typing medicine cat over and over. im lazy.
leader gets a full title instead of just a -star. ex. Moon Watcher, The Star Chosen, Listener, idk other things obviously.
yeah and they don't care about who joins either or if someone wants to leave. as long as they prove loyalty, kitty pets and loners are completely welcome.
they have general names which only change if someone wants to change it with permission of leader or becomes leader. ex. Night, Star, Whisper, etc. no cat can have the same name. thats just confusing.
and mates get married. there is a ceremony for marriage just as death and other things. its cute and they get flower crowns. fight me about it.
uh, idk thats all. i'll work on it as i go. any feedback is welcome.

Okay, well first things first.
What do I call it.
I like Circle. I think it has a nice ring. The Circle of Moonlight - The Circle of Crags - The Circle of Thunder.
It can have to do with the territory. I'm not very good with territory imagery though. Hm. I like forests of some sorts.

Ooo I love your ideas a lot! It's refreshing, very much so. If they consider themselves close to the stars maybe go with Circle of Moonlight for the clan name?
Also flower crowns, very much on board with the idea of that marriage. Do you think that they would offer the potential marriage partner the flower crown or just the flower? Also same flower crowns for mates?
Sorry I have questions and very little advice but I hope it helps the ideas flow, when apprentices go out do they go together to survive or on their own? Is it an unspoken rule they can't accept help from other apprentices if multiple do this trial? I think Circle of Moonlight is what I'm going to go with. Hm. I think they offer a flower, then once the ceremony happens the flower that was offered get woven into a crown for both mates. A crown or a necklace. On their own. And once they come back they can't speak about what they endured on their trial. |

@яεαℓ ∂ιsтιηcт - I think if they are found to find help from the other apprentices or even warriors they get in trouble somehow. They can get help from like loners or kittypets since they are outside of the circle. I'm not sure what punishment though.

The Circle of Moonlight ;
We are apart of The Circle. Our cats come from all walks of life but have shown and proven their loyalty to The Circle. Through generations, our fur is generally a darker color marked with tabby stripes or spotted with medium average length. Our legs are strong for climbing trees, large paws to get through marsh and sleek bodies. The Circle is known for their strength, powerful leaps and paw strikes. Living in a forest and marsh land can be challenging but we have learned to let our land give us advantages, covering our fur in mud and waiting within the water. The Circle fights with ruthlessness, those who threaten us do not deserve a mercy and we shall show none. All cats play a role for our future, we cannot survive without those who nurture and care.
We are The Circle of Moonlight ; strength, ruthlessness, discipline.
Territory ;
Marsh - To the west of the forest is a massive expanse of marsh land. A few dry islands dot between the thick water, covered with long wild grass and reeds. The marsh can overfill in months of rain. The marsh is great to hunt and the islands, if a cat can get to them, are perfect for a sunning spot.
Field - To the south of the forest is a large grassy field. This field is where many animals come to graze and travel on. It is the best to hunt large birds like pheasants and turkeys.
Forest - Most of the territory is a large oak forest, lots of undergrowth and a massive canopy of thick branches and leaves. Not a lot of sunlight filters through. The forest is shared with other animals like deer who aren't a threat. The camp is at the heart of the forest.
River - The river flows from the north, splitting off into 2 ways ; one that moves south into the marshes and one that goes underground.
Rock Pile - Outside of the forest where the river comes into the territory is a massive rock pile. It seemed to be left there by humans as some point.

Apprentices going out and stuff could also potentially make some sort of villain. Like an apprentice that went out and never came back.

Apprentices going out and stuff could also potentially make some sort of villain. Like an apprentice that went out and never came back. Plot could be about 4 young kits born to the deputy and leader and they go and discover what’s beyond the clans or something? One can be a medicine Cat Apprentice. |

hi, pudge. i really enjoy helping people plan clans, i’ve discovered recently. i really like the originality of what you’ve got going on so far. i’d imagine healer apprentices may do one moon of fighting with the other apprentices to learn the basics, right? ooh and maybe, rather than a moon of living on their own, the healer apprentice has to go and retrieve an herb that’s a long way away? just an idea but i’m kind of tired at the moment; i’ll think of better things come morning haha |

@ｒｏｓｅ - Oh hi! Yes, the healer apprentices have to go get a really rare flower or something. I'm glad you're here to help!
@яεαℓ ∂ιsтιηcт - Yeah! Like some fued happened with apprentices and when they left, one tried to kill the other but they survived. The murderer rejoined and after like a few years the 'dead' apprentice comes back for revenge.

Hm, I don't really care for visions all that much. Words make more sense to me. The Healer doesn't speak to the Stars either, the Leader would. The leader / healer have a very special relationship.
Instead of a deputy, it could be cat that is like a Sentinel to the Leader. Every leader has a sentinel with a special connection - once the leader dies so does the sentinel.

Leader / Sentinel / Healer
The Leader is called The Beholder. They are the only cat that can speak and listen to the Stars. The Beholder is chosen through a vision, it can be any cat within the group. Once the vision happens, the past Beholder will not reveal who the cat is until it is dying. [ Cannot have kits ]
For every Beholder, they are chosen a Sentinel. The Sentinel has a special link with their Beholder through a ceremony. It gives them danger sense when ever their Beholder might be in trouble. It is their duty to protect the Beholder even if it means laying down their life. If they die, the Beholder will chose another but if the Beholder dies the Sentinel will die with them. [ Cannot have kits ]
The Healer is the group's cat who specializes in herbs and medicine. This cat is the second most involved in the Stars. They cannot outright speak and listen to them but they know every secret of their Beholder. They often help sort out visions and help the Beholder with certain tasks. [ can have kits ]

Oh thank you! I'm glad you like my ideas. I wrote a bit for mentors and apprentices as well.
Mentors / Apprentices - Mentors are chosen from birth. The cats will grow up with their mentors and once they reach 7 moons, they will start their full training. Mentors are chosen by skill and simliarity to the young cat.
Apprentices go through different styles of training ; 1 moon they will train in healing ; 2 moons they will train in hunting ; 1 moon they will train in building and weaving ; 2 moons they will train in battle ; 1 moons they will train in protection. At 15 moons, the apprentices will leave the territory and be forced to survive without help from the other apprentices. After a moon they are accepted back as full members.
