Zach’s presence had gone completely unnoticed, up until he spoke, and Zahavi turned his head slightly in the man’s direction. There were few people in this mismatched group that he trusted. No, that was a lie—there was only one person that he trusted. Eldred was the single individual whose opinions he rarely opposed or questioned when it came to official matters. Having grown up with the elderly man constantly in the palace, he was accustomed to his presence and found it rather comforting. For all that the man was a bit on the grumpy side, he was the only constant, unchanging force in his life right now.
The same could not be said for Zach, whom he did not know well enough to make any clear judgments about or form any solid opinions on. After all, they were practically strangers, and of wider differing social statuses. He didn’t see what Zach would want to do with him, unless perhaps he was seeking a reward. That’s what all people want, isn’t it? Money and riches. To him, he couldn’t imagine why any of these people, excluding Eldred perhaps, would be on this journey otherwise. Even then, the elderly advisor was not his friend. He knew that the man was simply a well paid member of the castle’s staff, hired by his parents to give advice and oversee tough decisions. It was impossible to buy friends.
Zahavi already knew that.
“My parents,” he answered, predictably. However, he added a surprising afterthought to his sentence, “I was only wondering why they never had any other children. I think I would have liked a brother. Or sister.”
It wasn’t strictly a lie. He always wondered why he was an only child. Sometimes it was nice, but most of the time, it left him endlessly alone. He wanted a brother to talk to. A sister to comfort him. Siblings to share his pain with, to look after his parents while he went on this journey or to be the ones who carried it out with him instead.
Eldred seemed to have a knack for always appearing in the spaces Zahavi occupied. Perhaps the man was a psychic. Or, more than likely, he was simply a predictable person. The latter was a better option. He didn’t like being addressed as thing, but the usual testy snark in his tone had diminished from stress alone.
“No. I’m not alright,” he replied, not even conscious enough to be shocked by his own blunt honesty. He felt unusually numb inside, like his own body was being submerged in icy water. Growing colder and colder, until he could no longer feel. Numbing the pain and everything else along with it. Everything felt so distant. And, through his worry for his parents and his desire to find them a cure, he really only felt one thing: loneliness. Nothing new. Always there, lurking beneath his chest. Haunting him. Even surrounded by people and with Eldred just over his shoulder, he felt alone. “But don’t concern yourself with me, Eldred. We’ve more important things to focus on. Getting on the road in a timely manner, for example. I would like for this journey to be over and done with quickly.”
His gaze drifted back to Zach. “I am sure Zach would agree.”

”My lord,” Eldred began, before correcting himself because this wasn’t the palace, and Zahavi was hurting, “Zahavi, I have been concerned with you for the last seventeen years, and so have your parents. That’s not about to stop now. If I wished not to concern myself with you I would not be here. I’m an uncomplicated man and I would like to be sitting back in the palace with my books. But I’m not. Because your parents need me and so do you.”
It was at this point that Eldred, though he was a little stiff, sat down to join Zahavi and Zach.
“Zach clearly cares about your wellbeing. So if you want to talk then that is what we shall do.”
Sure, he was paid to look after the prince. Well, technically not really, but Eldred did a lot of it. But one doesn’t spend seventeen years with a person without developing some kind of genuine relationship. And he did care about Zahavi, in his own grumpy way. He wanted to make sure the boy was alright. Well, he obviously wasn’t, but he wanted to help him feel better if he could.
“We won’t be leaving for some time yet anyway I would imagine,” Eldred pointed out

Chaos since you know slightly more about what the quest could entail let me know if there’s a trade that would give Isabella skills that might benefit her in the quest. Just so I can know what she did as a merchant
Oh and I need to figure out how she got involved in the group. I think we said she knew Atlas and helped lead the group to him but my memory is fuzzy)

(I think we just have a massive group RP happening right now.
Legit, we got everyone back woot woot.
We have successfully revived the RP. Congrats everybody.)
(As of now, guys, the journey is about week in, no secrets have really been revealed yet. Magic users kind of know magic users.
What I’ve picked up for now:
Zach is sad, but never says it. The prince is sad, so Zach is going on sad alert and helping the sad prince. Eldred is dying(literally) and is kind of okay with it because no more babysitting.
Leon is stalking people, picking up intel, and overall being full of bad decisions. And I think that’s it for the current moment?)

We’re going to do a 50 Hunger Games Au, combining, 90th, 100th, and other oc characters into a 48 tribute game.
Because why not?
It might be done through Discord, however.)

Leon froze when she heard voices under her tree, apparently no one had spotted her among the silky evergreen thistles, so she halted her movement. Zelos would be so proud of her, though a part of her almost no felt bad for eavesdropping on such a conversation.
Though really, Zach hadn’t had any audacity with his comments. Though, in retrospect, neither would she. She was on this trip, not as much for being kind, but for vengeance and greed, a small part of empathy. She had never expected the spoiled prince to decide to leave on such a journey as this one. In reality, she thought his presence was stupid as is. Whoever had poisoned his parents were most likely at the castle, throwing a coup as they speak, and the prince just left instead of staying with his dying family.
Hypocrisy, because she would have done the same. Though a sour reminder came to mind, Eldred, she spotted him greeting the two boys, and it reminded her that her parents were indeed dead.
Mother, I could use your guidance. You always knew what to do...
She had to hold back a snort. She didn’t have time to pout and mourn. It made this whole situation more grave. Zahavi still had his parents, he could save them. She couldn’t do anything for her mother and father.
She really was a curse, wasn’t she? Though she rolled her eyes, she almost sounded like Zach. She didn’t feel bad for the prince, but she was also wary of him. His grandparents did take the throne that should have been hers. And even if he was there blood, there was a bitter resentment. Leon didn’t do pity. However, if she saw fit, she could always intervene. Instead she went back to watching the horizon, her enchanted gloves wrapped around her hands, and her hair left in a braid down her left side. She had no idea what they would be facing, but for now, she’d gather what she could from the people below her. (Let's see if i remember the sass) Silently, the cat dragon walked up next to his person and also stared out at the horizon. He sat down and wrapped his tail around his paws and glanced up at her. "I'm getting tired of hiding in your bag," he started simply. Yes he had agreed to keep out of sight for a while- specially in the presence of the witch hunter- but he was getting antsy and bored. There had to be some way for him to be free. If only humans weren't so careful with children, then he could shift into Quill and walk amongst them instead of sticking to the shadows.

Zander takes a small sip of some ale and watches his companions. Seemed everyone was in a somewhat sober mood today. Suppose it couldn't be helped. A week into their little journey and they haven't come up with anything. Not that it mattered all things considering. There was no way they would find a cure for the poison. Even if they did, Zander would find way to sabotage or slow the group down at least.
He came way to far for his planned to be ruined. Worse case scenario, he might have to make the prince disappear. Zander frowned at the thought. Zander really hoped things wouldn't escalate that far. One day at a time. The longer it takes to find the cure, the better. For now, he would bide his time and act when the time was right. He had a lot riding on this after all.

She noticed Zelos, smiling softly. Zach, Zahavi, and Eldred were busy amongst themselves, none of the boys would most likely hear the cat dragon thing or the witch. She lifted her hand, softly ruffling his fur, before patting her lap, an invitation, “Well, I’m sure I could explain taking in a mythical creature. And if Atlas has anything to say about it, then I’ll handle him. I don’t see why you should be forced to hide either.” She commented, it seemed it was something she had been pondering quite often. “You don’t deserve to hide in my bag all the time, I think Zach would like the real you, maybe Zahavi would too, and Eldred already knows of my magic.”

Zacharias winced slightly at the prince's initial words. Yes, that had been exactly as he suspected. It was stupid of him to have begun the conversation in that way- reminding Zahavi of the impending doom which seemed to be upon the king and queen. The current situation juggled throughout the crevices of his mind, never stopping to rest and supplying a large amount of conflicting emotions. At his core, Zacharias was empathetic of the future king's situation, but the feeling was bittersweet. Zahavi still had his parents. And under their rule the persecution of magical creatures - like himself - was overlooked. Sure, there were people like himself. People who deserved every amount of hate that they got. But there were also people like Leon.
The prince's next words haunted him, and Zacharias turned away so as to not let his expression be seen. Whatever it may be.
Because perhaps he would've had a sibling had things been different. Or even a childhood friend. Someone that he could be carefree with and laugh with. Someone who had his back, and who could share the burden of his secrets with.
No. The thought disgusted him. He wouldn't wish for that to have ever happened. Or, rather, couldn't wish for that to have ever happened. The only person in the world who slightly resembled a friend was Leon, but she was... different.
Zahavi did seem to be in a similar situation. No siblings, and it must certainly be hard to make friends when being the future king. Maybe he was close to a few of the servants, but that didn't seem to count. If Zach had to guess, Eldred would be the one who he thought was closest to Zahavi in that sense, but he didn't count either.
And as Eldred spoke, Zacharias studied the old man. He clearly cared for Zahavi, but his demeanor was strange. Perhaps the old man was just a grump. There was something off about him, though. Something that Zach couldn't quite pinpoint.
"However long this journey does last," Zach began, his gaze flickering between Eldred and Zahavi, "You're gonna be stuck with us the whole way through it." His words were now directed for Zahavi, and Zach's green eyes focused on the prince. "So though you may not have any siblings... you've got brothers and sisters all around you. We're here to protect you, and we're here to get this shit job done."
Look for ingredients- that's what Zach supposed they were about to do. It seemed futile, and Zach still didn't quite know what it was they were searching for. At times it seemed to him that their journey was misplaced. Zahavi should be back at the castle during the king and queen's final moments, not out and about picking flowers. Besides, with Eldred and the future king absent from the kingdom, potential political threats were something to be wary of.
