(( Ahhh so many great decisions! I feel like A and D are my top contenders, though. I just can't decide if I want him to put his foot down and initiate a lockdown or if I want him to jump into action to find people to hunt down a cure. Hm. ))

Leon noticed his coughing, and the handkerchief he was folding when she finally made it out of the room. Yet, that wasn’t exactly unusual for men his age, some had respiratory illness or chronic coughing. So it didn’t strike her as odd.
“Alright,” she agreed at his mention of his study and the security of the hall, “That sounds like our best bet,” she agreed, though she still glanced back. She was afraid of being caught, even if this family allowed him to live...it came with him, she thought, having to work for the family.
Then again, most of said family was dying and the prince of the family was the only living. Yet that seemed even worse to a degree, those of the court would demand Zahavi persecute Magic Users, and if not? His family was sick, it would be easy to wipe out the prince in such a state.
That sent her to chills. She, of course, could take her chance and take over, revealing her name and right to the throne with the death and conquest of the family. Yet that was dirty, a dirty tactic, that would haunt her forever.
If she wanted the throne, she would have to do it without killing the family, they tried to save hers.
However, if she could claim the throne after all of this, she could give Zelos endless trout and a easier life. She could make sure Zach didn’t have to steal, since he revealed he didn’t want to live his life like that. Magic users would be free to be themselves, and any of those who disagreed would have to deal with it. Magic was a dangerous thing, it could easily kill if used incorrectly, but when used correctly? It could stop many terrible things, but it could cause them too. This Eldred wouldn’t be forced to be some advisor for some brat, and Drusilla wouldn’t have to tend to some sad prince.
Though, realistically, many would be horrified by a witch ruling them once more, yet if they could see how much easier things could be? If she could maybe hide those roots? She could make things better. It wouldn’t just be about revenge, or living an easy life...it would be about making things truly better.
She shook her head, her fingers trailing the metal armlet she wore. The gold on it was expensive, and the amulet was as well. But she raised an eyebrow at the study when he opened it. Obviously he hadn’t taken time to account for possible pesky maids, or maybe they all knew to leave him alone?
Regardless, she nodded and walked in, and when he spoke, she nodded once more.
“Yes, time is of the essence.” She agreed, part of her mind still on her racing thoughts, if she helped, wouldn’t they be in her debt? Why was she helping anyways? They didn’t save her family, and she didn’t help people without reward. Everyone dies.
But Zach used her words against her, and it became even more personal because he was right. But...but she deserved something in return. Safety for magic users.
She almost wanted to laugh, her new idea building, she had so much power in this situation, it was sad someone was dying, but if she could reveal the cure to them, tell them how to find it, they would be in her debt, and she could easily sabotage them if they thought of crossing her. If they allowed Eldred to live, they should allow magic users to legally live, happily. And if people disagreed? Then make them deal with it, things were mostly peaceful before with her family.
And if I help, they can keep their crown. They can live on, and people won’t have to hide anymore.
Make them trust her, make them think she was crucial for this, help them save the family, and when it’s done, make her request. Make her request and if they refuse...
Then What?
She sighed, snapping back into reality, “Sorry, my mind is running crazy,” she started, “But Nemean’s curse, it’s a curse that’s dated back to major plagues, where dark witches were said to poison those who refused to buy their potions or refused to help them. But I’m sure you knew that.”
Even if he didn’t, the story was told like legend. Angry fae, witches, and magic-users alike were hated at the time as well, many refused to help them and killed families, in retaliation, many dark magic users formed together to create what was then called the Uncurable Curse. Healers and other fae eventually stopped it, causing unity, but it was now a fairy tale.
“The Test requires the user to have hydrokinesis, either that or a special potion. I’ve already tested it myself, it’s positive, I just didn’t want to give myself away,” she admitted, her blue eyes focused ahead, she went for a pause, before glancing at him, “You must know I’m not really a noble,” of course he would know that, “I must admit that my cousin, as silly as this sounds, wanted trout, and since we can never get it in the village, I brought him here to get some, I used my magic to get in,” She knew that would be suspicious, but she figured the half-truth was better than nothing at all.

(I’m just getting out all the sucky crap.
1: Car messed up, motor basically blew up so it was trashed. 2: Stuck in West Virginia for 9 hours waiting in a ride, without WiFi or service. 3: Waited 4 hours for a bus on the way home because the lobby for some dumb reason wasn’t open. 4: Unlike most bus fairs, where the drivers are on time, we wait an hour at a lay over for a bus driver. Or maybe it was longer it was 5:00am. 5: On the bus after, we are in a massive heat wave and the air conditioning on the bus isn’t working, neither are any nightlights for reading or charging sockets, people are sweating terribly. 6: After finally getting the driver to address the issue, we wait for about 3 hours total for the bus to work/a new bus. The driver decides to continue onwards but doesn’t let the next station know leading to... 7: We arrive at the next stop as our bus we were supposed to be on is pulling out, we learn if the man called the stop and warned them they could have held the bus for the maybe 5-10 minutes, this is about 6pm yesterday. 8: We learn that the next bus for the destination is 1:20am in the morning. Despite being put on standby for another bus we cannot fit on said bus because they overbooked it and have to wait about 7 hours for a bus. 9: We finally get to our stop sthat was 2 hours away and out ride isn’t yet there. But let’s not forget, the once sunny day was now a suddenly rainy night and the lobby to the place was closed, so we had to wait under an awning, in the rain. Sadly, this isn’t really everything either but the stuff that probably sucked the most, I forgot to mention the sudden bout of rain right as I walked outside once when we were stopped but that’s normal for me so whatever.
I love my luck. And our car at home is now having issues.)

Eldred listened to Leon speak, considering everything she had said before he responded.
“Yes, somehow I saw through your ruse,” Eldred said drily “but I must commend the effort you went to for the sake of some trout. To answer your implied question, I won’t say a word about you and your cousin not really being nobles; there are so many reasons why that would be a terrible idea.”
Firstly, this girl knew a lot about the curse. Secondly, if it were revealed that she wasn’t a noble and she was arrested, it would be only a matter of time before they figured out that she was a magic user (possibly also her cousin if, since he was related to her, he possessed magic) and that would reignite the hatred against magic folk, putting Eldred and all magic users and fae in the kingdom in danger. Thirdly, it was a lot of paperwork and honestly Eldred really couldn’t be bothered.
Of course, he still had his suspicions about this girl, he didn’t have any reason to believe anything he knew about her was true, apart from her magical abilities since he had seen them for himself. But they didn’t really have another option at this point.
The elderly man nodded at her mention about the lore of the curse. He did know that, at least, about the curse. But he had always considered it a legend, and had never really thought to study it seriously, especially since he wasn’t a user of dark magic. But perhaps that was his mistake here, assuming that the curse could be disregarded. After all, wasn’t there much in that world that was real and had always been thought a legend?
“Yes, I do know that much, but the bounds of my knowledge on this particular subject do not go much further,” he admitted
When she explained about the test and that she had already done it, though, he looked slightly surprised.
“You’ve already done it? Very well,” Eldred replied “and I suppose that now presents us with the problem of what is to be done about it. I mean, it has always been known as incurable, and certainly in my limited reading on the subject no cure was mentioned. Do you know of one?”
The curse had always been known as incurable, and so this told Eldred that if there was a cure, it would be difficult to obtain. A long and dangerous journey like that he may have undertaken in his younger days when he was braver and more adventurous, but this one? He was not sure he would survive such a journey. The problem was his sense of duty, though. He knew his services would be put to better use advising Zahavi and preparing him to be king rather than curing the king and queen. But was his duty now to the crown prince, or was it to the king and queen? He still served them, and so under his oath of allegiance to them was it his duty to risk his life to try to find a cure for them? He was not sure, and this was his dilemma.
But perhaps he was getting ahead of himself already, as he often did, for a cure may not even exist.

Leon stared at his study, taking in the books on magic, the literature that was so forbidden. She wondered how in the world he got them, where he got them, and how he kept them. Part of her wondered if it was during her grandfather’s reign, Winston Valdera, that Eldred could have gotten said book, Eldred had served in Winston’s court, possibly an advisor to her father, Archimedes, when Archy(her father’s nickname) was prince. Winston died when the kingdom was overthrown by Christopher/Reyna’s parents(hypothetically, that is), and thus the kingdoms changed. Magic was once again outlawed, perhaps not by the new royals themselves, but the people who took charge...
So how in the world could he hide such books from other servants? Didn’t he fear for his life. She sure did.
His comment caused her to roll her eyes slightly, “Wow, what a wonder that the Royal advisor could detect if I was a noble or not, it’s not like that’s your job or anything.” She commented back, she already saw this coming, him knowing that. She wasn’t about to freeze up and try to explain herself, she was secretive, but not an idiot. Yet she snorted at his comment about the trout, “Zelos is so convinced it’s the best food on Earth. Everyday when I ask, ‘Hey, what do you want for dinner?’ he says ‘trouts’,” She commented, looking slightly annoyed, “You would get annoyed of hearing it too.”
“I agree, that would be dumb for you and I.” She began, no shame what-so-ever in her voice, “For one, it would reveal a magic user,” She gestured to them both, it seems she had similar thoughts to him, “Two, I would become suspect for doing so, which would really suck for you and the royals-“ she paused, not giving an answer at first, but then it came out, a bold little comment, “You all need me.”
She left that at that, listening to him for the next while. She knew he was suspicious of her, but she had a point, she knew more about this curse than them and if he turned her in, she could withhold the information they direly needed. Plus, she was a secret holder herself but at times she could read others like an open book, he didn’t want to deal with it either, and she knew then that he wouldn’t do a thing about her.
He mentioned his knowledge of the lore, but lack of it on the curse, and she wasn’t exactly surprised, “Let me guess, you thought it was some legend, some wives tale?” She almost looked offended, but she had that look most of the time, annoyed, done-with-everything. She really didn’t want to be there, everyone lives and everyone dies(except Zelos? Did he die? She had no clue) and the king and queen were just another case. Yet she had some guilt over this, and Zach’s words bothered her(for some dumb reason), and Zahavi obviously wasn’t ready to be prince. She could earn that much from being in the Village, and overhearing Drusilla and Eldred comment about him.
“Yes, I’ve done the test,” she snapped, “That’s what I just said.” She added, tapping her foot. She had no idea why he seemed so surprised, “I’m not incompetent, I might be reckless, but I come prepared for these situations. I wouldn’t approach you about Nemean’s Curse unless I already tested for it.” That was unfair of her, obviously, since he just met her and probably had no idea how Leon acted, but regardless, she was an annoyed and rather selfish girl.
Sue her.
She raised a brow then, “And I wouldn’t approach you about the curse if I knew no cure existed,” she added, “Of course there is a cure, but I highly suggest not going after it. It would a be a long and hard journey and I can guarantee that someone would die trying to get it.”
Was that over exaggerated? Well, quite possibly, but maybe not.
“You see, it might be better to prepare the prince himself to lead, even though we both know he’s incompetent,” that was harsh, “But alas, unless you want the possibility of many dying, it may be your best option. The cure is a combination of many items, most are found outside of the Kingdom.”
Was she trying to stop them from going on the journey? Not really. But either way, if she played her cards right, and warned them of the dangers, any that died, if not all, would only gain more trust on her side. She wished none would die, but if they sent out some guards or something to find the cure and they died, she wasn’t to blame. She did warn Eldred that someone would die.
Plus, the prince was a coward(or so she was counting on), he himself would only be in danger if he tried to find it himself, and such a pampered child would never do such a thing(she’s wrong), so she was still being moral and getting what she wanted. She was helping out, warning and gaining trust, and when Zahavi became king, she would make her wish and he would be indebted to her, and if his parents somehow lived? They would too.

(Okay but like.
6 and 7 differs a lot for Atlas and Zahavi.
Atlas, I feel, would be getting Revenge on Leon(most likely), while Zahavi has to get it on Zander.
And the version of antagonists severely depends on character to character.
To Atlas, it’s magic users, to Zahavi, it’s whoever poisoned his family, to Leon and Zelos, it’s everyone.)
