As Palethroat nodded in response to Sweetmaple, Jayleap pulled ahead without a word. Flowing stream, flowing stream -
He skidded to a halt on the stream's banks, panting, and cast a glance around for the logs Sweetmaple had mentioned. For a moment, he couldn't see them, then - there you are.

Pondwhisker nodded. "Okay then, I'll ask around too," he mewed with a respectful dip of his head to the older warriors. He looked around the camp, soon noticing the small congregation of cats gathered by the camp entrance. Seedpaw was stood over the body of Tigerstripe, rubbing a soothing paw over his throat as she nudged pulped herbs into his mouth. He turned his head away, unable to watch. He instead glanced around for any of his Clanmates who might need his help.

Snaketooth didn't want to admit that he wished it was his life instead of Nightwish's, but he did. The young tom had much more to life to than him, though he had Robinsong and he was grateful to have her here. He carefully licked her ear, relishing in the comfort of the simple things. If this had been the moons before he wouldn't have anyone to comfort him, he would be alone. Now he had her, their lives to look forward to. "I hope things look up for us, I really do. I trust Fogstar with my life, I know that for a fact." He commented, changing the subject as he looked to the leader. He knew a bit about Fogstar's past, the issue with Berrystem, the problems leading up to him becoming a deputy.

Shadefang followed behind with Nightwish still secure on her back as she traveled down the mountainside. She wasnβt sure what to think about Fogstar; it seemed the one from back them was different than the one they knew now. And, in the end, it was Ravenstar who destroyed that catmint and killed so many other cats under his own rule. Fogstar wasnβt at fault for that part, anyway. The walk through the forest toward the cedar tree was awkward, as Shadefang knew she should say something about earlier... but what?

Goosefoot didnβt follow the others out of the camp, as three cats was plenty to bring back cobwebs and sticks. Instead, he turned his attention back to Seedpaw as she worked herbs into Tigerstripeβs mouth. βIs there anything I can do to help here?β he asked, trying to tear his gaze away from the warriorβs mangled back limbs.

Fawnstep continued on her walking. She felt a bit awkward, making sure to keep a distance away from Shadefang. Her heart stung with each pawstep but she focused on the tree that was growing larger in the distance, she needed to make sure the clanmates had a proper burial, she couldn't dwell on Shadefang right now. When the bodies where in the ground, maybe, just maybe she could. She couldn't help stealing a look over to the she-cat once more though, a sense of pride filling her as she watched her padded along. She was glad to have her as a clan mate, even if she wanted more.

Shadefang lifted her head as Fawnstep looked at her, and she gave her a small smile, despite all the circumstances. At least Fawnstep lives through the battle; they both did. A pang of guilt hit her as she remembers the warriors who didnβt make it, and she moved her gaze back to the path ahead Soon, they made it to the large tree beside the stream, and she set Nightwish gently down with a sigh. A familiar scent wafted by, though, and she flipped her head toward it with a nose twitch.

Fawnstep gently sat Badgerpaw down next to Nightwish and narrowed her eyes, padding over to Shadefang with her fur bristled up. "Who's there?" She called out, her voice uneven now. She had to remain brave but she felt so defeated at the moment, the scent seemed familiar to her but it could be anyone, what if it was Cedarclan cats coming to attack them while they were burying their dead? She gently rested her tail over Shadefang's back, not in a grand romantic gesture way but in a more 'keep me steady please' type.

Pearl came out on the other side of the stream, her fur bristling. βYou two again?β Her back arched, as if trying to hide the fact that she hadnβt had much to eat since they met last moon. βWhy do-β She paused and looked down at the two battered bodies the she-cats had brought, and finally noticed they looked beat up and tired themselves. β... What happened?β

"Somebody get Brambleflower as far away from here as possible." Seedpaw did not look up as she spoke, remaining crouched over Tigerstripe's twitching body. The tawny queen's anguished condition would only be worsened the longer she hovered over Tigerstripe, and Seedpaw could hardly work around her. Once she was satisfied that Tigerstripe had swallowed the herbs she'd given him, she turned back to the pile of herbs she'd brought with her. As soon as she'd seen Tigerstripe her first thought had been broken bones - common sense, considering he had been buried under half the cave - and she had thought to check for comfrey root. A poultice, right? Not down the throat.
Remembering what Owltuft had told her was proving to be extremely strenuous under the circumstances - what if she did something wrong? Although she figured there was no time to second guess herself right now, Tigerstripe needed her help. "Goosefoot, can you chew this into a poultice? Try not to chew it into a paste, it won't work as well." She shoved the comfrey root towards the large tom with one paw, the gesture surprisingly aggressive in comparison to Seedpaw's usual mellow manner. Where are they with the cobwebs? She looked up at the entrance, but Palethroat and the others were nowhere to be seen.

Sweetmaple ran over to the largest of the logs she had seen and peered inside, a large grey spider was industriously spinning a new web among to older dusty webs, she carefully reached in and swiped off the older cobwebs, trying not to disturb the new web.

Fawnstep let out a small breath of relief now, it was just Pearl. She looked to be a bit thinner than when they had last met but right now she didn't have the time to concern herself with that, she could help her later. "We..We had a battle, and lives were lost." She didn't want to say too much, not knowing how Pearl would react to the idea of another clan attacking theirs, let alone it being a clan some of them used to be a part of. "What are you doing here?" She asked, turning around now to begin her digging. She could work and talk to the elderly she-cat at the same time.

Pearl sniffed. βI came here to hunt again, but all the prey seemed to be scared away this morning. It must have been your caterwauling in the mountains,β she said, then her eyes drifted back to the two young dead cats and she sighed. How is it that short lives could be taken away so quickly, while a cat like her continued to live beyond her years? She sighed, then padded into the stream and started paddling her way through.
Shadefang snapped her head up from her digging when she heard a splash, and she blinked wide eyes at Pearl. βWhat are you doing?β
βHelping,β she rasped, reaching to keep her head above the water.

"Th-Thank you" She dipped her in respects, she should do something right? "We will catch you some prey in return, before you can even think of arguing it's what we'd do for our elder's in Fogclan if we had them so just accept it, okay?" She tossed a pawful of dirt behind her now, continuing her digging. She wanted to get this done before the sun fell behind the mountain and it was too dark to see anything. She could only imagine how bad the fog would get by then.

Shadefang dipped her head respectfully to the she-cat as well, but was too focused on her own digging to say anything. Pearl pulled herself onto the shore and gave her ragged pelt a shake before helping to work on the hole Fawnstep was. She moved away pawfuls of dirt, making it go almost twice faster. She glanced over her shoulder at the two dark bodies. "I'm sorry about your losses," she said, and couldn't help but feel a twinge of empathy. She had lost many cats in her lifetime. "Are there more?"

Fawnstep tried to remember the few bodies they had left behind and she nodded. "There's Dappleleaf, she died. And I think...I'm not sure but I think one of the warriors on the other side of the battle is actually getting a clan burial, he defended the nursery after all. Besides that, the rest will probably be tossed. They don't deserve a clan burial like this." She hissed the last part, now flinging dirt in random spots as though she could take out her frustration that way. "Some warriors are hurt really bad too, you know?" She didn't know why she was talking to this outsider about her clan, telling her the full condition of them but she felt at ease doing so.

After being dismissed by Seedpaw, Duckfoot found himself lost in the middle of the camp. He was unsure of what he could possibly do to be of help around the camp - of course, he was mostly worried about getting in the way. However, he couldn't help but notice that the bodies outside the nursery had not been moved.
There was the ginger tabby that Brambleflower had been grappling with earlier whose name he could not quite put his paw on - he could've sworn he'd seen Kitepaw tearing into him as well, but he was probably mistaken. Lying a few tail-lengths away from him, glazed eyes seemingly boring into his own, was another cat: red-furred as well, but of a much darker hue and solid rather than tabby. He knew exactly where he'd seen that one; he'd turned on his own Clanmate to defend Brambleflower's kits and been killed by Ravenstar because of it.
Duckfoot approached the bodies hesitantly. The ginger tabby's body would be disposed of where it would never see the light of day again, for sure - along with that murderous foxheart Ravenstar, and that grotesque freak of a cat with one eye. He fastened his teeth into the tabby's scruff with a growl of displeasure and began to haul the corpse away. Dropping it off the side of the mountain should do, he reasoned with a scoff; a cat like this, who'd attack defenseless kits and their mothers, didn't deserve a burial of any kind. Once he reached the edge of the cliff outside the camp, he loosened his grip and left it. Maybe Brambleflower would prefer to do it.

Emberpaw nodded at Seedpaw's request and took a half a step forward to let her tail just graze over Brambleflower's flank. "Tigerstipe will be alright. Let's help finish cleaning up the camp" She suggested, repeating the same comforting words she was told just a few minutes earlier. She took a few more steps back towards the center of the camp with a flick of her tail, both signaling for Brambleflower to follow and a bit of a nervous twitch. Her eyes darted between the queen and the wounded warrior with a hint of fear but she quickly tried to replace it with a small smile. "It'll be fine" She repeated again, forcing her voice to get a bit more hopeful.

Rivershade had noticed Duckfoot dragging the body of that CedarClan warrior towards the camp entrance, and turned to the remaining corpse outside the nursery. The body smelled like CedarClan, so he figured he'd just leave it with the other one. Murderers, the lot of 'em. The wiry tom scowled, flattening his ears as he sunk his teeth into the red tom's scruff. He was half-way across the camp with him when a frantic voice called out his name, begging him to stop. Brambleflower?
The queen skidded to a halt in front of him, her eyes wide and desperate as she planted a paw firmly on the ginger tom's flank. "Redtuft deserves a warrior's burial, don't put his body with that piece of crowfood!" She jerked her head harshly in the direction of the other body, the one that Duckfoot had dragged off. Rivershade frowned, cocking his head. He released the tom's scruff.
"He's CedarClan! They're all foxhearts and murderers, their bodies were by the nursery for StarClan's sake! They tried hurting the kits!" he protested, the fur along his spine bristling. He drew back, alarmed, when Brambleflower bared her teeth at him, advancing forwards until she stood over the red-furred warrior, as though she was protecting him. "He saved my life! He saved my son!" she spat, her eyes sparking with rage, "He deserves a warrior's burial. You take him down the mountain to Fawnstep and Shadefang and you bury him." She stormed away, leaving Rivershade to stare after her. The grey tom sighed. He fastened his teeth into Redtuft's scruff once again and began to make his way towards the path leading down the mountain.

Goosefoot nodded and lapped up the given herbs. He began to chew them, his face automatically screwing into one of disgust and he had to keep from spiking them back out. He chewed them until they were a moist mixture then spit it back onto the leaf the herbs were first on. βNow what?β he asked, kneading his paws nervously.

Brambleflower forced her eyes away from Tigerstripe's body, pain tearing at her heart with manic claws. She reluctantly followed Emberpaw, her head lowered and her steps slow; she knew that Seedpaw had her best interests at heart, but despite it all she couldn't help but feel as though Tigerstripe needed her. Your kits need you. Kitepaw needs you. So she left.
She had been half-way across camp with Emberpaw when a sudden flash of red and grey in the corner of her eye caught her attention, and she swung her head around. Rivershade was dragging Redtuft's body away from the nursery, towards the camp entrance. She followed the grey tabby warrior's path, and her eyes fell upon Reedclaw. Duckfoot was making his way back into camp, away from Reedclaw's body. Was Rivershade going to leave Redtuft with Reedclaw? No!
"Rivershade! Stop!" she cried, flinging herself away from Emberpaw's side. She would not let Redtuft's honour be- be disgraced by leaving his body to rot next to that bastard.

Seedpaw immediately swiped a paw through the poultice and began to apply it to Tigerstripe's leg, making sure the limb was coated thoroughly so the poultice could seep into his skin. "Once I'm done with this leg, I'm going to need you to pass me one of those sticks that Duckfoot brought back," she instructed, again not letting her eyes wander from her patient, "when Palethroat and Sweetmaple get back with those cobwebs I'll need your help splinting his leg before I can even start on the other one." And Tigerstripe's broken legs weren't even the end of his injuries - his face was swollen almost beyond recognition, and his flanks were littered with smaller cuts. Where's Owltuft? I need him!

Rabbit found himself cowering behind Nettle's body, his ears flat to the back of his neck and his eyes wide with fear. The FogClan cats had not noticed him yet, but he had a horrible feeling that it wouldn't be long before they did. He had seen what they did to Hound - or at least, what that skinny pale tabby had done to him. He would be next, if he didn't leave soon. But he couldn't just leave Nettle, he couldn't abandon his sister! That big cat had been nice enough to let him go, maybe there'd be somebody nice enough to help him carry Nettle away so he could bury her?

Emberpaw scanned around the camp for any further repairs that were necessary. Upon not spotting all that much-despite her half hoping for a distraction-she turned her head to Brambleflower to possibly suggest something else. Only to not see the queen there any longer. Emberpaw whirled around immediately after to try to locate Brambleflower only to find her back towards the entrance. She quickly padded back over to her hoping that she wasn't planning something bad only to feel some relief when it seemed to be about something else "Is something wrong?" she inquired with a tilt of her head.

Brambleflower considered telling Emberpaw the truth, but something in her - likely the part of her with more common sense - prevented her from doing so. She hung her head, a long and low sigh escaping her as she seemed to almost deflate in front of the younger she-cat. "No," she murmured, "I'm...quite alright, dear." She refused to look at Reedclaw's body, but she allowed herself to watch Rivershade dragging Redtuft out of camp; she was pleased to see that the wiry grey warrior was treating the body of her former Clanmate with much more care than he had been before she'd intervened. "I should check on my kits."

Pearl hummed in agreement; even if she didnβt know the full story, she could understand where they were coming from. βAnd you want me to join a Clan where battles like this happen?β she asked with a scoff, though there wasnβt much sting or playfulness in her voice. No matter where she went, it seemed, death would be there to greet her. She dug in silence until the hole was finally deep enough, and she pulled herself up out of it. βI think itβs good,β she said, and looked over to see Shadefang just finishing up her hole.
