Where would the gathering place be btw? And would gatherings just work in the same way as they do in the canon series, or would they be different?

the gathering place is a little island that gets cut off from the land by a river that divides into two and acts kind of like a moat! it's kinda smack in the middle of the territories, fourtrees-esque, so there's no awkward territory crossing to get there. there's probably a tree or stones or something they use to cross I'm not sure

That's the mood of the year woW Time to do some serious brainstorming because SierraClan is going to have some sick places in their territory This is going to be so much fun I'm honestly so hype!!! Why do I have a feeling Spiderstar and Seastar would have gotten along like a house on fire and probably are having the world's best (worst) time in the dark forest together right now

I might've made an entire role from scratch just because the Clan's healer would be absolutely swamped if they had to interpret everything that goes on in the sky as well as dealing with StarClan and the Clan, so now SierraClan has a starwatcher and a starwatcher's apprentice and their job is literally just to know about the stars and the astrological side of the Clan's beliefs and interpret signs in the stars whereas the healer and their apprentice just deals with injuries and the actual StarClan side of things

Hey! I’m so sorry for disappearing y’all. My laptop charger broke and I just got a new one the other day. I’m also in the middle of finals at the moment. My last final is Wednesday the 8th though. As much as I’d love to lead DustClan this summer is going to be pretty busy for me as I’m going to start taking classes in order to become a licensed realtor and broker. So Smug is more than welcome to take over as leader. I still plan on joining the clans though just don’t think I’ll be active enough to have the leader role.

ok um UH owl i LOVE that and you BET i want to claim that starwatcher apprentice slot because i literally am obsessed with astrology oh man......
im thinking that even though starclan and beliefs are like more important to these guys, starclan itself is definitely way less... overt... than in the books, esp in the later series. so like. no oots type stuff, more like vague signs and stuff, prophecies, visions... which imo makes more sense to me why sierraclan would have so much trust in the sky and the signs they recieve there? idk if im making any sense. basically i think direct, complete communication with starclan cats (like full on communication with the afterlife, talking to ghosts) is REALLY hard to achieve and there are only a few fabled medicine cats in legend who could like actually talk to the dead cats. so more "spottedleaf sees a shooting star and interprets it as a sign" stuff and less "honeyfern appears as a ghost to kick breezepelt's butt" stuff. that was probably convoluted but uh whatever

Good for Honeyfern.
That makes sense! Indirect stuff is more fun anyway, leaves things open to interpretation.
I'll start making a leader-list for DustClan once I've finished my homework.

Post by owlspots on May 6, 2019 3:40:28 GMT -5
Yes I was actually thinking that!! And I agree with Smug indirect stuff is way more fun and having them actually have to figure out what on earth is going on is going to be really interesting! And I'll reserve the starwatcher apprentice position for you five ^^
Honeyfern is doing us a great service

DustClan is the least religious clan of the four, preferring to rely on their own senses and intellect rather than the signs of their ancestors and are often quite involved in inter-clan politics. They are the most likely to take in outsiders in modern times, and their medicine cat role is much more healing focused and less spiritual. However, they are quite superstitious and have certain traditions, routines, and naming patterns that they adhere to in order to ward off bad luck.
Resources in DustClan territory are scarcer than in other territories - DustClan is the clan most guilty of trespass, prey-stealing, and warmongering, especially during greenleaf. They also tend to be nocturnal. Physically, DustClan cats are often tall and long-legged with large ears.
Naming traditions trend towards birds, which are a staple of the DustClan diet. Water birds especially are considered lucky, since water is fairly scare on DustClan territory. Reptile names, on the other hand, are considered unlucky.
1. Duststar A former kittypet, Duststar abandoned her owners and set off into the wild with the intent of making her mark on the world. She was a fierce, warlike leader who constantly sought to expand DustClan's borders, particularly into BayClan territory. Received her nine lives young and lost them young - she died in battle against BayClan and was succeeded by her second deputy, Skimmerfoot. She was the first of the original leaders to die.
2. Skimmerstar A charismatic and confident leader, Skimmerstar was Duststar's beloved protege. The beginning of his reign signaled good things for DustClan - as the first kit born into the new clan, he was a symbol of DustClan almost as much as Duststar herself. He bartered an alliance with SierraClan and won favor with the RainClan leader, but trouble began when he doubled down on Duststar's war with BayClan. Although he had inherited his mentor's leadership capabilites, he could never match her in strategy, and DustClan began to take heavy losses. Skimmerstar was forced to concede part of DustClan's territory to BayClan in order to stop the fighting, and spent the rest of his leadership trying to make up for it. The gesture also weakened his standing with RainClan. He lost his last life to a predator in SierraClan territory, in a last-ditch attempt to save their alliance. He was succeeded by his fourth deputy, Kitewing.
3. Kitestar
Kitestar was old when he became leader, and he died ancient. His steady, peaceful rule was a breath of fresh air for DustClan, which hadn't known true peace since its creation. He set to rebuilding DustClan's relationships with the other clans, damaged by the generations of fighting, and focused on building up the clan's strength rather than expanding its territory. However, this led to several prey shortages throughout his reign, especially during the greeleaf moons. (He was also notorious for having awful luck with deputies.) He lost his last life to a combination of greencough and advanced old age, but remained sharp and capable until the very end. He was succeeded by his ninth deputy, Dragonfang.
4. Dragonstar
Dragonstar was a huge cat and a ferocious fighter, and the cause for many of Kitestar's deputies untimely deaths (although he was never found out). His reign was short and brutal, and began with him convincing the clan he would lead them back to the glory days of Duststar, and vilified Skimmerstar as weak and cowardly. However, Spiderstar's rise coincided with Dragonstar's, and the two fought constantly. Dragonstar took drastic measures to secure their border. No exiles from SierraClan were welcome in DustClan territory, and the few cats who tried to help them anyway were exiled themselves, for 'endangering the clan'. If Spiderstar had not been so cruel, Dragonstar would likely have gone down in history as a monster - as it stands, he is remembered as a stern, strict leader who did what he had to do to keep the clan safe. He has not been seen in StarClan. After losing his last life in battle against Spiderstar's former supporters, he was succeeded by his one and only deputy - his mate, Skinkstorm.
5. Skinkstar
Skinkstar was an unpopular choice for deputy and started her reign as an unpopular leader - a view not helped by her choosing her own sister, Spottedsong, as her deputy and her refusal to allow the cats exiled by Dragonstar back into the clan. However, Skinkstar's compassion and kind-hearted nature won over many of her detractors. She extended her support to Pricklestar and Honeystar, and opposed Seastar's northward expansion. She considered Seastar to be her arch-nemesis and faced him multiple times in battle, slaying two of his deputies in separate battles before Seastar finally ended her reign himself. By that point, Skinkstar was much-beloved and deeply mourned. She was succeeded by her sister and deputy, Spottedsong.
6. Spottedstar
Spottedstar ascended the throne in the wake of her Skinkstar's death and guided the clan through it's period of mourning. However, before she could exact revenge for Skinkstar's death, Seastar was deposed and Minnowstar took over leadership of BayClan. While she never forgot her sister's death, she allowed the relationship between BayClan and DustClan to rebuild. She also sought to renew the ancient alliance between DustClan and SierraClan, but was hindered by SierraClan's struggles with cat-culling. Her reign was largely peaceful, and she opened the clan to outsiders in order to replenish the numbers lost during Dragonstar's rule and the war with BayClan, although cats under her command often strayed into RainClan territory to steal prey for their expanding numbers. She lost her last life to greencough and was succeeded by her third deputy, Thornfrost.
7. Thornstar
Thornstar's ascension to leader marked the end of a trend of nepotism that relieved many in the clan. As a warrior, he had been well-respected as both a fighter and a strategist and trained several apprentices. As a leader, he continued Spottedstar's policy of allowing outsiders into the clan and took several steps towards formalizing DustClan's warrior training, ensuring that each apprentice was fully prepared instead of abandoning them to the whims of whatever mentor they were assigned. His reign was long, but it was abruptly shattered by a sudden increase in cat cullings in DustClan territory. Thornstar was an early victim of said cullings, and lost his last life to a gunshot. He was succeeded by his fourth deputy and protege, Heronstream.
8. Heronstar Heronstar has been leader for less than a moon. As a young warrior, he had established himself as a fine tactician, and was assigned his first apprentice - Magpiepaw, now Magpiefur - at a very young age. He relies heavily on the advice of his senior warriors and medicine cat, and is racing to secure the clan's safety against the twoleg threat. He has also inherited the tensions with RainClan due to Spottedstar and Thornstar's history of crossing into RainClan territory to steal prey.
