i think issues w twolegs could at least be a starting point for plot; i read about how in Australia the feral cat population is actually crazy/harmful to native species so people like. straight up go cat hunting. clan numbers are probably dwindling a little because of actual cat culling going on and we go from there. (I wouldn't recommend googling it unless you're ok with .. disturbing images of cat death. )8. ) anyways I think it's a good conflict/threat but I'm not sure what kind of resolution it could have alternatively, as a threat, it doesnt necessarily need to be resolved, it can always just be this large, looming danger that hangs over the clans and just raises the stakes a lot. i dont want things to be too dark but a little bit of darkness never hurt nobody haha

hmm.. what if one of the predator species starts coming back, because with the killing of the cats prey is abundant again, so the resolution is the twolegs moving away for safety reasons - but the predator isn't really bothered by the cats so they kinda live in a mexican standoff where neither side does anything to the other?

That works - for a ResolvableTM plot we could have something like a Tigerstar-style plot, with someone trying to upset the status quo of the clans and take over?

SQUIDPAW AND SHARKPAW I'D DIE FOR YOU BOTH???? Honestly same I have so many characters already planned out, I was up so late last night looking for character designs akdjfhkjdf The ink tattoo idea is actually the coolest thing I've ever heard, BayClan cats would look insane rocking up to gatherings with their cool tattoos like imagine the reactions of new apprentices who'd never seen them before???
I think the cat-culling plot would be really unique and original. Dingoes could be reintroduced by twolegs who run a sanctuary/manage the ecosystem/run a sponsor a dingo today program to help with the wild cat problem and then that could be a rising threat for the Clans? If cat-culling is so frequent then I think it should be pretty ordinary for cats to go missing from every Clan if they're not careful, and of course many bodies would be found but not all of them. ie.
Cat A: Wasn't Cat C with the patrol? Cat B: Yeah they were but they wandered off to check out another part of the territory nearby, they never came back so we thought they'd headed home. Cat A: They never showed up here, could they still be out there? Cat D: We should go look for them. *later* Cat A: There's blood here, it smells like Cat C. Cat B: Do you think twolegs might've gotten them? Cat A: Hard to tell, let's follow the trail. And then they find the body and it's obvious they've been murdered/don't find the body and just a lot of blood which means it could've been twolegs or dingoes that got them.
Idk it might add an element of tension to the whole plot? Like anybody could go missing at any time. Which might tie in well with a villain plot, because the villain could be a close relative or mate to a cat that goes missing or is found dead whether from a dingo attack or from twolegs, and then their disappearance could drive them mad with anger which could be twisted into literally anything else
Bit of a SierraClan general update: - SierraClan cats are, as a general rule, large with powerful muscles and big, sturdy paws for traversing the rockiest parts of their territory. They tend to have thick coats - although perhaps not necessarily long - to deal with their chillier climate and the high altitudes, but cats who are not of pure SierraClan blood may have thinner pelts and be smaller in size. The standard and arguably the most common pelt colours are grey and brown in varying shades and patterns (ticked, spotted, marbled, solid, etc), and black; tabby patterns are extremely commonplace and, while tortoiseshells with little to no white spotting aren't too out there or uncommon, mostly-white pelts are rare, and fully white cats are very few and far between (I think that, realistically, there'd only be 1 cat out of perhaps 20 or 30 who is fully or mostly white). - SierraClan have been a peaceful Clan for many seasons, and each leader since Sierrastar has managed to maintain a reasonable level of peace with the other three Clans (with exceptions here and there, but SierraClan are largely very passive and pacifist). The Clan has little need to defend itself as the mountainous region in which they live is extremely difficult to traverse and navigate, and therefore defends itself in many ways. However, with tensions rising many young warriors are starting to believe that the old ways of peace and solitude are no longer the wisest choice and that moons of being left to their own devices has made SierraClan weak. - SierraClan are mostly pretty accepting of outsiders and are a tolerant Clan due to their peaceful nature. Many of the cats they hold in high esteem (ie. in constellations and legends) were not of Clan origins and came from outside their borders, so they believe that everybody can be accepted by StarClan. They did, however, have a period of time under a certain leader (details not figured out yet) where the Clan closed its borders and turned their mountain home into a fortress; many outsiders and cats from other Clans were severely injured and even killed by SierraClan warriors on the orders of their leader. This leader was a warmongering tyrant and was highly unpopular within the Clan, and was overthrown and replaced by a cat who was keen to return SierraClan to its former state of pacifism and open the borders again. - The current leader of SierraClan is very old and is growing weak; while it is unknown how many lives he has left, it is suspected by many within the Clan and even outside of it that he is on his final life. He refuses to accept the fact that he is dying despite the advice and warnings of his medicine cat, but is becoming delirious and forgetful in his old age. The Clan's deputy is the one holding everybody together but they have a lot on their plate right now trying to maintain order and keep the Clan from worrying too much about their ailing leader.

yoooo all of that sounds great so far!!! i need to start working on rainclan lore hthrhbhr. im thinking they're sleek, mostly short-furred cats who honestly have quite a good amount of pelt diversity. bengals, tabbies, and other patterns are more common than solid colors, though. theyre adept at climbing trees and have powerful legs and claws. they are also able to swim for short distances; their climbing/swimming isn't to sierraclan/bayclan's caliber but they're sort of a jack of all trades clan. i think their history has been sort of turbulent, they tend to clash with bayclan quite frequently and some leaders have been more violent than others. the more violent ones have even tried taking territory on the sierraclan border but that went exactly how you'd expect lmao. right now i think the state of the clan is... eh, decent. their leader is a little morally gray but nobody thinks he's much of a threat besides being a jerk sometimes. his name is pelicanstar and he sucks, i love him

PELICANSTAR? Incredible honestly I have like...no originality when it comes to names tbh which led me to think maybe we should compile a list of example prefixes that would set these Clans apart from say, the og canon 4? Like Bay, Rain, Sierra and Dust will all have the standard names like in the books perhaps minus a few, but because they're Australian there's gonna be a lot more things that they can call their kids

YES OKAY SO... I honestly grab prefixes from here!! it's very helpful! like.. some of my planned boys include pelicanstar, oysterfeather + her kits (one named devilkit, like Tasmanian devil), + definitely a koalapaw somewhere too

ooo i was thinking a koalapaw as well - perhaps rivals from different clans with the same name during their apprenticeship? so gatherings are always fun xD
for bay i know shark, reef, and other things ocean related will be commonplace, but i'm thinking pool, moon, and maybe ocean/sea/bay will all be added to the "no use" list

Yeah, definitely. Bay, Sierra, Rain, and Dust would probably be no-go prefixes. Conversely, Wind, Thunder, Shadow, and River could all be allowed.
EDIT - also I'm gonna have an irritable, prickly senior warrior in RainClan and her name is going to be Echidnafur, you can't stop me. And an apprentice named Egretpaw.

GENERAL BANNED PREFIXES Dust- Sierra- Rain- Bay- Moon- Star-
CLAN-SPECIFIC BANNED PREFIXES BAYCLAN Pool- Sea- SIERRACLAN Mountain- Spider- (not necessarily banned, just frowned upon) DUSTCLAN x RAINCLAN x

If anyone has any more prefixes they'd like to put as 'banned' in general or for a specific Clan, let me know! ^^ I finally decided on a name for SierraClan's leader!! His name is Geckostar and he's really old and really angry all the time. I made a sort of leadership succession thing where I went through each leader since Sierrastar, explained some good/bad things they did for the Clan, what their goal as leader was, who their deputies were and how they died. So far I have:
1. Sierrastar (died of old age and illness, had a peaceful and prosperous reign, everyone loved her and she was the longest living leader bar Pricklestar who was like Mistystar 2.0 and just wouldn't die, the first cat to have a constellation named after them after the med cat apprentice had a dream from StarClan pointing it out to them, was the one who spoke to StarClan to establish most of SierraClan's oldest traditions, took in lots of outsiders while her Clan was still small)
2. Orchidstar (unknown death, suspected murder by Spiderfang/star, tried his best and did okay, lost most of his lives in combat even though he tried really hard to keep the peace, was really close to StarClan and spent a lot of time watching the stars and the sky and was a really spiritual dude, loads of his own warriors thought he was a really bad imitation of Sierrastar and considered him a weak leader, was actually given a constellation of his own because he really tried his hardest and was a good dude overall)
3. Spiderstar (was murdered by Prickletail/star, not actually Clan deputy and seized the opportunity when the last one died of greencough before she could get her nine lives, absolute piece of crap at Brokenstar level, exiled cats for being old/sick, trained kits as warriors and lots of them died, really bloodthirsty and cruel and got loads of his warriors killed in stupid battles, exiled his own DAD because he had a permanent cough and then his dad never made it back to the Clan even when Pricklestar went out to recover the banished cats, absolutely did not get a constellation or any recognition other than as like the worst villain in the history of the Clans, one of the first Dark Forest cats and has his own scary bedtime story told about him to the kids)
4. Pricklestar (morally grey and made some harsh calls that might not have been that popular but did a pretty good job as leader, fixed Spiderstar's problems after he murdered the guy for trying to kill a queen, exiled Spiderstar's most loyal followers and told all the other Clans to watch out for them, opened the borders again and went out to find all the cats Spiderstar exiled for being too old/weak to return them to the ancestral burial ground for proper funerals and vigils, had the longest reign ever like they just couldn't get rid of this guy Mistystar is SHAKING Pricklestar was alive that long, died of pneumonia during a really cold leaf-bare, was like 150 moons old or smth idk he was just really old)
5. Fennelstar (really young when she was made deputy because the last one got really old and Pricklestar just wouldn't die, Pricklestar's niece so everyone thought her being picked was favouritism, really inexperienced and relied on a council of senior warriors, her deputy and medicine cat for big decisions but was a pretty solid leader overall, most peaceful relations with the other Clans since Sierrastar but wasn't quite there, invited loads of outsiders in because of the biggest cat-culling in Clan history that cut SierraClan's numbers nearly in half so the Clan's a lot more diverse now than it was, died saving an apprentice from falling off a cliff)
6. Geckostar (current leader, was pretty cool when he was first named and everyone thought he was a great guy, really active in Clan life until he got really old and grouchy and now he never goes outside unless he has to, doesn't want to admit that he's literally dying and is always yelling at somebody for trying to point it out to him, was Fennelstar's third deputy after the first one broke his back and the second one died of greencough, everyone assumes he's on his last life but nobody knows for sure, has been a pretty decent leader and has kept the peace fairly well but he's getting really tense lately and his Clan is worried he might snap and go ape on one of the other leaders for calling him old or something)

I love Fennelstar so much oh man.
Geckostar sounds really cool! It would be interesting to see him interact with a young, savvy leader, especially if they had designs on some of SierraClan's land.

UM i love them. i want to do that w/ rainclan.
1. rainstar(also known as falling rain, lost his final life to a tree falling on top of him during a storm) rainstar was always the leadership type; he was noble and honorable and selfless, at least, that's how the legend goes. privately, he had more flaws than he wanted to admit, struggling personally with fits of rage and mania. he struggled to keep up his image, but held his clan together through difficulty and prosperity. he kept his composure throughout his life but always hoped to die young so the burden of old age would never get to him. his wishes were granted; he didn't survive long enough to have his brain wracked by dementia or illness. the first rainclan medicine cat said that his death was tragic, but symbolic of the renewal of the clan, as it happened during a storm. rainclan legend is that he lives on in every storm since his death.
2. acaciastar(prev. acaciafur, named for the acacia tree. lost his last life to greencough) following up the clan founder might've been a difficult task for any cat who wasn't acaciafur. intelligent, always one step ahead, and constantly planning, this cat stepped up his game when his leadership drew near. acaciastar was a cat who had everything planned out, from his first life to his last life. he didn't want there to be any missteps in his leadership, and for the most part, his reign was one of the most peaceful, quite times in rainclan history. rainstar did well starting the peace, and acaciastar did even better keeping it. he was a smooth talker which aided in his quest to keep his clan safe. most of his lives were lost to either illness or predatory animals.
3. morningstar (prev. morningfall, lost her last life to a brain infection) poor morningstar. her leadership started out stable, but eventually fell apart. she tried her best but with spiderstar running around doing all his crap, she grew more and more paranoid every day. spiderstar's treachery forced her to close her borders and only allowed a few trusted warriors out of camp. not only did this mean borders went unpatrolled, but hunting and prey dwindled as well. as she aged, she began to kind of lose it even more thanks to a debilitating brain infection. eventually, the clan decided she was unfit to lead; but she lost her last life before the clan could force her to retire.
4. honeystar (prev. honeyheart, lost her last life in combat) rebuilding rainclan from what morningstar turned it into was a difficult job. honeystar, while not perfect for the job, did her absolute best. she had to make some tough choices but she felt that her way was the best way for her to lead, even though she became a little unpopular in the clan. however, no rainclan cat alive during her reign can deny that without her, rainclan would have probably fallen to pieces. she was mostly just an average leader who had an unfair situation.
5. echostar (prev. echoshade, lost her last life to a twoleg gunshot) echostar was the perfect followup to honeystar; loved by the clan, wise beyond her age, and leadership skills reminiscent of rainstar himself. she brought prosperity back to rainclan. however, it was during her leadership where cat culling got bad for rainclan. in fact, the two deputies before fairywing both fell victim to this. this angered echostar more and more until eventually she set off on her own private mission to find the bodies of cats who died, or try and save the ones who might still be alive. she paid for this mission with her life. after several days of their leader missing, rainclan sent fairywing off to recieve her nine lives. also shes hot 6. fairystar (named after the superb fairywren, died in a horrific accident involving a fight with bayclan. fell off the cliffs and into the bay, and then a shark got to her.) a literal baby. ok no. fairywing was a brave cat, a good choice for deputy, but she was young and her deputyship was breaking the code- she had not had an apprentice yet when she was appointed. echostar saw potential in her. however, whatever she saw in young fairystar was cut short. fairystar's reign didn't last long (less than a year, in fact), but while it did it was a confusing period of rainclan... not knowing what was going on. pressured by senior warriors and her own deputy, she made the choice to go to war with bayclan, and she paid for it with all 9 of her lives. some cats still suspect there was foul play involved with her fall off the cliffs, but it's been a little while since her death so most of the rumors have subsided.
7. pelicanstar (current leader) arrogant, cocky, kind of a douche! he was fairystar's good friend whom she appointed deputy right away. he wasn't expecting her to die so soon, i feel like the death of his best friend caused something in him to just kind of snap. he's not evil or anything, just kind of a jerk. he hasn't done anything awful... yet... but the older members of the clan have their eyes on him. they're not a fan of his loud opinions and arrogant ways.

WIP BayClan Legacy //
1. Baystar // the first storm
The first leader of Bayclan, Baystar was a calm, level-headed tom with a talent for dissolving problems between clanmates. His era of leadership is known as the First Storm because it was the beginning of BayClan. It was an era of building and companionship, but not much else because the clan was so new. He lost his last life to old age. He had four deputies before finally losing his last life: Wildthorn, Tidefrost, Stormsong, and Sharkfang.
2. Sharkstar // the unbroken storm
Sharkstar, originally Sharkfang, was the second leader of BayClan. His era was known as the Unbroken Storm. This is because he was a wise, thoughtful leader, and managed to keep BayCLan out of trouble with the other clans for his entire reign. He lose his last life to a young tiger shark that wandered too far from home, ironically. He had two deputies before losing his last life: Rippletail and Reefstrike.
3. Reefstar // the expanding storm
When Reefstrike took over after the death of Sharkstar, no one thought he would do well as the third leader of BayClan. He proved them wrong, however, by being one of the best leaders these cats have had so far. He was able to expand their territory, and find ways to expand their hunting grounds in the reed, making his era the Expending Storm. He lost his last life to a particularly bad case of green cough. He had one deputy before losing his last life: Seastorm.
4. Seastar // the raging storm
Previously Seastorm, the fourth leader of BayClan was force to be reckoned with - and not the good kind. He was a manipulator, and wanted the territory of the other clans for himself. Seastar believed he should be the one true leader of all the clans. He trained kits too early and exiled anyone too weak to fight - even for something as simple as a minor injury. He lost four deputies in the battles he started, before the fifth finally ended his reign herself: Coralheart, Bluesmoke, Sharktail, Wavestep, and Minnowsong. He is the reason Sea- is a banned prefix, and his era is the Raging Storm.
5. Minnowstar // the silent storm
Minnowsong became Minnowstar, the fifth leader of BayClan, after finally ending the reign of the murderous Seastar. The clan was so distraught and embarrassed at their actions under the awful leader, that Minnowstar lead them in an era of peace and pacifism. She sought to rebuild from the horrors of Seastar's reign, and because of that, chose her only deputy, before dying during kitting, to be Seastar's young daughter, Tideshade - much to the dismay of her clan. Hers is the Silent Storm.
6. Tidestar // current leader (the rebuilding storm)
Tidestar has only recently become leader, after the death of her previous friend and mentor Minnowstar. She seeks to continue Minnowstar's plans for rebuilding, and hopes that doing the best she can for her clan will make up for the horrific acts enacted by her father.

Oooh these all look so good! I love them all so much While it's not banned, Spider- is a heavily frowned upon prefix in SierraClan and it is believed that the name brings darkness into the Clan and considered really bad luck, so queens always avoid that name and if an outsider is taken into the Clan they will not be given that prefix; if their name already was Spider or something along those lines their name would be changed entirely I'll have a look for pictures to go with my descriptions for each leader!
EDIT: Found pictures for all of them and honestly I love them all, I wanted to keep up the theme of long/thick fur and large bodies as much as I could to keep in line with what traditional SierraClan cats would look like so they're all really big cats with very thick pelts. Spiderstar was the tallest of SierraClan's leaders, and was unusually thin for a SierraClan cat because his ancestors came from outside the Clan. Nowadays, while a lot of SierraClan cats retain the traditional build of pure SierraClan blood, the Clan is a lot more diverse because of Fennelstar's actions and there are also many smaller and slimmer cats as well as cats with shorter fur; new patterns and lighter coat colours such as cream and pale browns, gingers and greys became more common, and bengal patterned pelts, points, lynx points and similar patterns are now a thing. Mostly/all white fur is still rare, however.
