Wrenpaw is killed in the night. Fern’s scent is found all around him, andWindfern sees Bramble and Fern having a conversation the next day. Emberpaw (or Emberkit) confides in Willowpaw that she wants to stay in AsoenClan, feeling like it is her home. She has also offered to be a spy on Bramble and Fern, although Willowpaw says it is too dangerous to do, she decides to. Simon begins to realise that Fern’s scent is familiar to him. He has a vision that night. “What am I doing in StarClan?” Simon asks, walking up towards a starry cat infront of him.
“You’re here to learn the truth, Simon.” The cat turns around, and Simon is shocked. He tries to run, but his paws are stuck to the ground.
“That cat, who took you, that was not me. Minnowsong. No, it was Fern. She’s the one causing these deaths within a The Clans. She the one who controls a rogue group outside the Clans, it’s a nifty business. Her plan has always been to take over the Clans with Bramble, her sister. Of course, she could not just be a random loner who travels into the Clan. She had to pin it on someone, and that was me.”
The tom goes to speak, but she continues. “What does Bramble have to do with this you may ask? Well, Fern was Bramble’s older sister from another litter. Do you remember Brindlekit and Flickerkit?”
Simon nods, his jaw dropping at the realisation. “Brindlekit is Bramble. And because she was mistakenly thought dead, she felt the Clan had betrayed her. This lead her to want to plot against them, and with her sister Fern, who alas hated the Clans, her hatred of us grew more.” He spoke, although in past tense, it made sense.
“And Scattered Leaves was born. Her name, well it was just the way it was. Remember Plum?”
Simon hesitates, but his mind floats to Bart being murdered. “Scattered Leaves’ father. Wanted to do anything to impress Bramble. So he killed Bart to get to Tinyheart, who was obviously important.”
Simon hesitates at the gaps in the storyline, knowing things don’t quite add up. “What about that greencough stuff, and all the lies?”
“I did die from that greencough.” Minnowsong admits, curling her tail ,”Fern just used my scent to disguise herself. When you wake up Simon, exile her and Bramble. Mildbreeze finally decides to retire, and Simon respects her wishes, delightfully letting her join the den to rest after years of hard work to her Clan. When Breezebounce searches near rogue territory, he finds a strong scent of Fern. There, he recognises some faces in the crowds. Some cats beg to go back to the Clan with him, so Willowfoot sneaks them out, while Breezebounce searches more. (Nope   Hint- possible kitties- Willowfoot, Windfern, Plumdapple, Pine, Minnowpaw or someone completely different...) Fern sighs as she stops, panting silently. Looking around the area, she sees it is quite nice.
“I’ll settle down here tonight. Get the group back to attack the Clan next moonhigh. They killed Bramble- the best warrior of them all!” She spits, then calms her rage when she scents a cat.
“Ha! Now bow down to me, Fern. The leader of the rogues!”
The she cat rushes round the bushes to confront the cat.
She stops when she realises who it is.
“Oh Fern.. you should regret what you did to me. My life is ruined because of the lives you told. And not only that, but you framed an innocent cat, alas the Clan think she is a killer.” The cat, who is also a she cat, steps up to Fern.
“Like you could defeat me, kitty. You’re nothing in the eyes of your Clan. You’re not even Clanborn. Or are you? I don’t know. Maybe your “father” hasn’t told you something just yet.”
The she-cats eyes flicker with confusion, but remain filled with anger. “I might not have anything to do with the cat previous to me. But you are the one that formed my shame. Do you know what it is like, everyday, cats to be afraid of you, thinking you are a killer only because you share a similar name to someone?”
“ I thought you’d be grateful, if cats fear you, you can have power.” Fern licks a paw and shrugs.
“I don’t want power, I just want a normal life. But I’m constantly judged for nothing I didn’t even do. You twisted everyone’s lives. Bart’s- making that cat, was his name Plum? Making him lie about all that LeafClan stuff. You told LeafClan our Clan had been poisoning our prey- which caused poisons of many in OUR Clan. And you made Bart feel guilt, none of which was his fault.”
“Where did you LEARN this?” Fern rolls her eyes ,”You were born way away any of it happened.”
“But you’re not denying any of it happening now, are you?” The she cat smirks at her. “Our Clan is close. We share the tragedies of the past and the stories of the future. If only Fern, you knew not to mess with the Clans.” The she-cat laughs, shaking her head.
Fern looks down at the she-cat, confused for a second, and in the meanwhile she is distracted, it doesn’t take her a heartbeat to realise the mysterious cat had drawn their claws across her neck.
“What’s my name? You may want to know. Well, I’ll keep it silent. I mean, if you’re smart, you should know by now. It’s obvious you recognise me”
The she cat leaves, padding off into the forest. Fern pants, crawling on the forest floor, until her eyes catch something.

Trickle and Wish are heartbroken as their littermate is no longer with them. Ignoring others to hunt till they return exhausted. Agelessheart is pushed by Turtlekit to urge the clan to move to the stump where Heartypetal once stayed. Well far out of the flood's way. "I have to leave soon. But I want you all to be okay." the sparkling kit looked out to the camp opening, "You can tell Simon, he knows about me. Tell him that Heartypetal found a place far from the water's range that the Clan can safely move to!"
