Hi everybody!! Recently I've been on vacation to Fire Island, NY, and I think it would be really cool to have some Clans based on the island- specifically the area around the Sunken Forest, which is a really neat ecosystem!
Basically there's the beach and the dunes, which leads into the forest, which leads into a bog and salt marshes, which are cut off by the bay. I think three Clans would be ideal here, maybe named DuneClan, SunkenClan, and MarshClan?
The rp would be at least semi-literate, and I also find the "traditional" naming system (in which there are a limited amount of suffixes, and every suffix has a specific meaning) fascinating, so it'd be cool to utilize that.
I've already done a lot of the work, like cataloging most of the species of plants and animals that live in that area, as well as coming up with a list of name prefixes that would work with the local wildlife. A lot of animal and plant names that work in the original series wouldn't work here, because those animals and plants don't live in the united states. But there are a lot of animals and plants that live here that wouldn't work in Europe, so it's just a bunch of cool new names! Plus, the territory already exists, so we wouldn't have to design it. Besides a bit of tweaking, of course!
It would be a normal Clan rp, no special powers or anything.
I'm willing (and eager, haha) to take one of the Clans, but I'd need at least two other active people (with preferably good spelling and grammar) to lead the others. So, uh... comment if you're interested!

Alliances, so far
If you want a leadership position, follow the format below. I'll post the list of animal and plant prefixes below it, so you all know which are available.
Username - Cat's Name - Cat's Description - Cat's Personality - Clan - Rank - Short Roleplay Example (3-6 sentences!)
DuneClan- Their territory stretches from the ocean to the edge of the forest (no one is quite sure where the edge of the forest is, however). They are quick-witted and proud, with sharp claws and sharper tongues. They cannot swim, but don't mind getting wet, fishing off of Flatstones (a human jetty) when the water is calm. Usually, however, they hunt the wildlife that lives on the dunes. They are longer legged and faster than the other Clans, with broad flat paws for running on the sand. They tend to have pale tabby pelts with patches of white.
Leader: Piperstar- a white she-cat with brown tabby patches on her head, body, and tail, and amber eyes. She is a new and untested leader, with an energetic attitude and an eagerness to learn. She has a tendency to hyperfocus.(Frecklenose)
Deputy:-open-
Medicine Cat: Waterleaf- a sleek black tom with liquid blue eyes. He is a calm old tom, with seemingly unending patience for all. Learning about every plant that grows in each clan's territory has always been his passion, and healing just happened to come along with it. Waterleaf is strongly loyal to the words of StarClan, and will seek them for advice toward any problem. This loyalty has presented him with problems in the past, as he always believes StarClan should be followed before even his leader's word.(Stealthstar)
Medicine Cat Apprentice: Honeypaw- Honeypaw's appearance is close to the Turkish Van breed. She has a small but sturdy build, with a tail slightly shorter than average. Honeypaw was named after the blotches of orange along her back, legs, tail, head, and left ear, as a contrast to her white pelt. The she-cat's forest green gaze holds a friendly personality. She is young at heart and a bit clumsy. Honeypaw is fairly intelligent, and protective of her clanmates. (xcrimsonrainx)
Other Cats: Sealnose- a grey tabby with darker grey spots, and stormy blue eyes. She has one long stripe running down from her forehead to the tip of her tail. She is lean and tall, so about the average for a she-cat in her clan. She does have an unusually long tail. Sealnose was not named for her personality. She is not playful, but rather serious. Sure, she'll smile and maybe crack a joke/insult on a good day, but she is not a playful cat. She doesn't follow the warrior code to the letter, but is very loyal to the clan and to her superiors. She has a strong loyalty to her clan and knows her clan comes first, even at the other clan's expense. Sealnose doesn't have much of a history, not that the clan knows of anyway. She is a very private cat. For the most part, her apprentice and warrior life has been quiet. She has been known to have one night stands with various cats, but not much more than that. Warrior. (Frozo)
Firepath -blazing ginger she-cat with a thick coat and bright blue eyes. She is an energetic senior warrior with a tongue that's quicker than her thoughts. Firepath believes most problems are very simple in that there is little room for negotiation. She is a fierce fighter who loves training the younger cats in the clan. Fir DuneClan(Stealthstar)
Rushfrost- a silver tabby she-cat with a slight blue tint to her fur. Her face and stripes fade a little at her face, offering more contrast for her clear blue eyes. Rushfrost, despite her rather simple appearance, is far from simple. She's stubborn, mischievous, and rebellious, often having a loud mouth full of snarky comments. She acts fearless and takes a lot of risks, but inside this rather tough exterior, she's afraid of abandonment and is very protective of the few that get close to her (Stormleap)
Whalefur - a massive blue-grey she-cat with short fur and green eyes.- Whalefur is loud, opinionated and excitable. She's got a rebellious streak and is a strong advocate for breaking tradition and the Warrior Code when the Clan is in times of trouble. Despite this, she's fiercely loyal and intelligent, with a knack for tactics. She doesn't forgive easily. - DuneClan - Warrior
Spottedstone -a slim black she-cat with orange flecks and blue eyes. She is caring and strong toward those in her clan, but is wary of cats from other clans, and does not take kindly to any cat outside of the clans. Spottedstone believes deeply in the warrior code's authority. She is expecting kits very soon.(Stealthstar)
(Future kit(s))
Sapkit is a dark golden tom with a sleek coat and amber eyes.
SunkenClan- These mysterious and elusive cats call the stunted and twisted trees of the forest home. They are adept climbers and have earned a reputation of being the toughest Clan on the island due to their environment being inhabited by other predators. There are an unusual number of polydactyl cats. They are dark-colored, small, and light, making them difficult to see and difficult to fight.
Leader: Pinestar- small dark brown tom with a thick coat and a long tail. Pinestar waited a long time to become leader of SunkenClan, but he had been ready for the role for most of his life. He is level headed, however the small tom is sullen and stern in nature. Pinestar deeply cares about his duty to his clanmates above all else, but is ultimately fair in dealing with the other clans. Even though age and experience have taken some of the battle hunger out of him, Pinestar will not back down from a fight once a threat has been made against his clan. He has never had a mate, but was very attached to a certain she-cat during his early warrior days, and was devastated when she chose another mate. Pinestar's solemn demeanor often hides his good intentions. (Stealthstar)
Deputy: Batclaw - broad-shouldered, muscular, large night black tom with white paws and bright green eyes. Batclaw is tough and brave. He takes crap from no cat. If he is back-talked to, he'll yell and swipe you on the nose. He can be seen as grumpy and unfriendly at times. Batclaw is annoyed by kits and apprentices who don't listen. (Stormheart)
Medicine Cat: Plovernose- a mottled, grey tabby with some brown ticking that makes her fur seem a little green or muddy in color. She has dull white markings to match her dull colored pelt on her muzzle, above her eyes, around her stripes on her cheeks, and all the way down to halfway down her belly, where it stops suddenly. This color can also be found on the insides of her forelegs and forepaws, but not on her hind legs or paws. Her eyes are green with a slight brown tint to them. Plovernose is a poor medicine cat, obvious that she was destined to be a warrior. The medicine cat was on his last leg when it was her turn to be apprenticed, making her automatically nominated for the position. She does her best, but is too stubborn to ever ask for help from everyone. She's snarky and is easy to pick a fight with anyone, no matter how big or of what rank. She's smart and is quite good at tracking, finding many much needed herbs and misplaced kittens without too much trouble. Though brilliant, she has trouble remembering what herb does what, which is why she has a "list" of sorts hidden away in her den to give her a paw. (Stormleap)
Medicine Cat Apprentice: Lancepaw - a small silver tabby with blue eyes. She is quiet, reserved, smart, and shy. (Salt)
Other Cats:
Beetlepaw - a classic chocolate tabby, brown fur with dark brown stripes. She has a small scar over her left eye from a stick in her kit years. Her eyes are a earthy hazel. She still has some kitten fat on her. - Beetlepaw is a strange one. She gets easily distracted and changes the subject more than not. Beetlepaw, while serious when needs to be, is not much of a serious talker and is an optimist. She hates to talk about anything sad/upsetting, her performance in battle practice being the top choice, and will often will ignore or, if pushed, offened. This causes her to seem lazy or undedicated, but really...she is. While she thinks becoming a warrior would be cool, she lacks motivation. apprentice (Frozo)
MarshClan- A relaxed and jovial Clan, MarshClan cats fear no invasion from the other two on the island. The bog that sits between them and SunkenClan is deadly, with cats each year drowning in its brackish waters. These cats are strong swimmers, the clear waters of the salt marsh that they live in a perfect place to learn. They are stocky, with long torsos, short legs, and powerful tails to help them navigate their semiaquatic territory. Their pelts come in a range of colors, but almost all have a pale underbelly.
Leader: Mothstar- a pale tan-and-ginger tom. He has white front paws and muzzle as well as a pale ginger tailtip. He has longish, silky fur and green eyes. Mothstar is determined, loyal, and impatient. (Salt)
Deputy:-open-
Medicine Cat: Robinfrost- a small, light brown tabby tom with a white underbelly and piercing yellow eyes. Robinfrost is quiet and reserved, not one to show much emotion, and has gained a reputation for being heartless as a result. He has a calm, analytical mind, and excels at remembering and sorting herbs. However, he has difficulty communicating with StarClan, finding the idea of vague premonitions and prophecies unsettling at best and unbelievable at worst. (Frecklenose)
Medicine Cat Apprentice: Fishpaw - A lithe, lanky tom, which is odd for his clan. He has long legs and a thin body. At least his tail is long and fur is silky. Fishpaw's face is narrow and he has large ears. He has bluish grey eyes. His pelt pattern is a lynx point. This means that most of his pelt is a bright white. However, his tail, legs, and face, including his ears, has a dark silver/grey tabby patterns. His tail has very dark stripes which bends into each other making his tail a dark grey. Fishpaw has a wonderful memory and loves to learn. He finds knowledge the most valuable thing a cat can have. This causes him to be very honest, even to the point of blunt. Though he doesn't mean anything by it. He can also get in trouble due to his natural curiosity over anything new or unique. When he messes up, he takes it hard. This tom is very sensitive and not self confident. He hates group activities or competitions since he gets easily flustered with cat's eyes on him. One joke about how he tripped and he will become hurt and distant. He wouldn't snap back though. He is rather timid and tries his best to be respectful. (Frozo)
Other Cats:
apprentices
Loudpaw- a light brown tom with a white underbelly and green eyes. He is eager and bright, but unusually clumsy in hunting. Despite this, he is a large powerful tom and so is able to fight quite well. Loudpaw is extremely loyal to his clanmates, but is a troublemaker. His sister is Heronpaw.(Stealthstar)
Heronpaw- a light gray she-cat with a white underbelly and blue eyes. She is gentle and kind, and above all values fairness to all cats no matter the clan. Heronpaw is often overshadowed in decision making by her mischievous brother Loudpaw.(Stealthstar)

Stormheart - Batclaw - broad-shouldered, muscular, large night black tom with white paws and bright green eyes. - SunkenClan - Deputy - Moonlight lay on the ground in a pool of her own blood. Battered, bruised, and struggling to breath. Her breathing was shallow, and her blue eyes were clouded with pain. The she-cat coughed up more blood, clinging onto life. She knew this was the end. There was no way in StarClan she'd survive the wounds given to her. Her normally white pelt was stained crimson from all the bites and scratches the foxes had inflicted. A golden tom stood over her, tears streaming down his face. "This is all my fault, I should've made you stay in camp. It should be me laying there not you," he choked. Silverlight struggled to lift her head. "Lionstorm is that you? Don't fret over me, it is my time, StarClan wishes for me to join them." she croaked, hacking up more blood. Lionstorm sat down and lowered his head closer to his dying mate. "It's not too late! I can bring Sedgecloud. She can heal you! You don't have to die!" the tom yowled. Silverlight shook her head. "Don't waste your time, there's nothing you can do." The she-cat hacked once more and smiled, blood rushing out of her injuries. "Goodbye my love," The feminine's breath was getting shallower by the second. Lionstorm lay down beside her and whimpered, "Don't leave me please, your all I have left." Silverlight smiled. "Don't worry I'll see you again in StarClan. I'll be watching you, always." The light began to fade from her eyes as Silverlight took her last breath. Lionstorm tilted his head and screeched with agony. He rest his head on his dead mate's shoulder. "Goodbye, Silverlight," the golden tom choked. His dark blue eyes ablaze with grief and anger. "I will kill every last fox and I won't stop until they're all dead," he whispered. Or I'm dead, he thought.

yeah, i just have to figure out meanings for them! technically if i'm doing truly "traditional' naming, step and frost shouldn't be there, but i'm willing to bend the rules haha. and the suffixes are really a guideline, anyway, so we don't get cats with super ridiculous names, you know?

Suffix: -claw. Meaning:
The suffix -claw represents any cat with a distinctively exceptional fighting ability and talent in combat.
Reason:
A cat’s claws are its preliminary (and dominant) means of defense from attack. Most cats fight with blows by their forepaws (claws unsheathed) or claw the underbelly of their foes with sharp hind leg kicks.
For this reason, it is particularly cruel to de-claw a cat, as it is pretty much helpless and vulnerable after the procedure.
Additional information:
Toms tend to be more aggressive than she-cats, though not always. Canonically, only one she-cat (Willowclaw of Windclan) has had the suffix -claw in the entire first three arcs. Rowanclaw of Shadowclan was also female at some point, but has changed gender multiple times during the series, so I don’t even know what is going on there.
In a fight between cats, the cat of larger size and/or heavier weight has an enormous advantage against a smaller opponent. Cats of smaller size are at a near constant disadvantage. For this reason, cats with the suffix -claw tend to be larger than most other cats, such as Tigerclaw, who is described as a “big dark brown tabby”.
Coincidental traits:
Like most skills, expertise in combat is gained through practice and experience; not just natural talent, although that is certainly a part of it. A cat that gets into the number of fights required to get very good at battling, at a young age (when they receive their warrior name, for instance), is likely to be an aggressive or easily angered cat.
Battling is based in strength and fearlessness. While strength may come naturally, fearlessness (or rather, overcoming fear) does not. A cat that is very good at battling, therefore, is probably quite disciplined and/or very determined and tenacious in nature.

yeah, i put frost in there cause i like it but all the others are from warriors redux!! -light might work as a less gendered version of -flower... -feather could signify a cheerful cat, or a cat that is especially light on their feet. i've got no idea about -wing though.

Wing could mean someone who is always trying to help others and teach everything they know. They make excellent mentors for their patience and willingness to teach.

Suffix: -cloud. Meaning:
The suffix -cloud represents a cat that is gentle in nature, patient and not easily perturbed by anything. To be recognised for his or her personality, the cat must not be particularly excellent in any area of warrior life - they must be average at everything, pretty much.
Reason:
-cloud is a fairly emblematic suffix, and the most common argument against it is that clouds aren’t always soft or light; they can be dark and twisted. That’s called a storm. That has it’s own suffix. Predictably, it’s called -storm. Your argument is invalid.
When watching clouds on mild days, they appear fluffy, easy-going and malleable, much similar to the relaxed, placid personality of -cloud cats.
Additional information:
Typically, she-cats are less aggressive than toms, and are more likely to have this kind of personality; this doesn’t mean toms can’t have it, it’s just more unusual. Take, for example, Littlecloud of Shadowclan, who was the only male -cloud cat, compared to Ferncloud, Dawncloud and Nightcloud, all she-cats.
A cat with the -cloud suffix is likely to be quite large or quite small, but far less likely to be average in size. Smaller cats tend to be more timid, meek and mild in behaviour and personality, whereas larger cats - being more of a threat - can afford to be relaxed in almost any situation. A large cat with the -cloud suffix is going to be a lot more self-confident than a small -cloud warrior.
Coincidental traits:
A cat that is patient and kindly is going to get along very well with kits, apprentices and elders, regardless of age or gender. They might make for particularly good mothers or fathers. They are likely to be considerate and probably quite good conversationalists, pleasant with their small talk between clans.
A cat that is unruffled by anything may be quite apathetic or disinterested in general. They may be a serial daydreamer, always off in their own little world and/or uncaring for others or real problems; they may have difficulty concentrating or being serious.
A cat that is a day-dreamer may be more open to the words and signs of Starclan and combined with their patience, they could make for a very good medicine cat

Wing could mean someone who is always trying to help others and teach everything they know. They make excellent mentors for their patience and willingness to teach. hm, but -step is already a suffix with that meaning... it could just mean a particularly empathetic cat that tries to lift others up? it'd probably be fairly rare.

actually, many of those prefixes won't work because Warriors is an english-based setting and these Clans would be in america. all of the color/weather prefixes are fine, but many animals and plants in that list don't exist here, and many animals and plants here aren't on that list.

(Hey! This looks super interesting, I'd love to lead a clan!)
Username - Stealthstar
Cat's Name - Pinestar
Cat's Description - small dark brown tom with a thick coat and a long tail.
Clan - SunkenClan
Rank - Leader
Short Roleplay Example: Finchtail padded into camp with a fat mouse in her jaws, which she immediately deposited onto the fresh-kill pile. The tabby she-cat briskly cleaned her whiskers with a nimble brown paw and looked for something else to do. She glanced over to the elders' den and noticed her mother Pebblefoot had already received a decent sized squirrel and was grooming herself after her meal. Finchtail sighed and flexed her claws into the dirt restlessly. She wasn't the type to sit around basking in the sun all day, not when Greenleaf had only just begun and the forest was alive with all sorts of activity. Given the emptiness of the camp, the young warrior assumed the most recent patrol had already left, and the prey in the center of camp was more than plentiful to feed the clan. She flicked her tail with annoyed defeat, and settled to take a nap in the sunny rays after all.
