TorClan ~ Claim-a-Cat [OPEN]

Territory

TorClan lives on a Tor. There is no trees here. Perhaps small saplings that will likely never fully grow due to the winds here and the deer and other fauna that love to nibble on young plants. If they do survive they're often stunted by not having enough soil for their roots to firmly take root in due to rock not being far beneath said soil. Thus why only shrubs, bushes, grasses and other ground covers survive at least those which don't have long roots.

Sky Rocks - Large rocks which are oddly placed upon each other like pillars holding up larger flatter rocks. They may at times appear to be dangerous as if at any moment the rocks could fall, but for countless moons they have remained the same. They sit atop a large hill which some could consider a mountain though it has grass growing upon it and areas of soft soil upon which to walk. They help to shade some of the territories shrubbery. This is where the clan enjoys sunning themselves.

Bird Shrubs - Beneath Sky Rocks is Bird Shrubs where birds make their nests in the cover they provide. Some of them also make their nests where there are crags in the rocks that the cats oft find difficult to get to though it may not be impossible. Voles and chipmunks can be found living in the leaf debris under the shrubs canopies.

Splash Pond - There is a small heart shaped pond which can be found beneath Sky Rocks and surrounded on one side by the shrubbery that is underneath Sky Rocks itself. The pond attracts ducks and geese during their migrations. It's usually filled with tadpoles and even fish due to an underwater river which the cats themselves are unaware which feeds the small pond.

Rock Hill - Rock Hill is up a higher slope of land than the Camp itself. The rocks are covered in grass and other sediment. Mice, ground squirrels and snakes, mostly garden snakes, but even rattlesnakes at times make their home here. It is teeming with prey.

Mushroom Stones - Here are stones where edible mushrooms grow. While the cats themselves are unlikely to eat mushrooms there are prey items that enjoy them. Plus there might be important herbs growing here too which the medicine cat may need. Furthermore where mushrooms grow, moss is often to be found as well. Note that Mushroom Stones is close to the BoulderClan border.

Camp

TorClan makes their camp at the top of the Tor. Between Lone Rock and Sky Rocks which are separated by a large barren gap. A gap which kits are taught early not to go too near lest they should fall to their death as has happened in the past. A gap where it is also easy for a swooping bird of prey to snatch them away and anyone who tries to stop the bird of prey may well end up falling too.

Lone Rock To the cats this appears as one connected rock and is where their leader oft calls their meetings. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath Lone Rock for a clan meeting." This is also where an entrance to a den can be found where the leader themselves take shelter.

Medicine Cat Den The medicine cat den is surrounded by berry bushes with the back of the den entering a small crevice between and underneath rocks. Inside the crevice is where the medicine cat keeps their herbs while they themselves sleep just outside underneath the bushes.


Warrior Den The warriors den takes cover underneath shrubs.


Nursery Den The nursery den is surrounded by two blackberry bushes, three medium sized rocks with one rock laying over top of them like a bridge above and a bit of low growing ground cover. They use moss and feathers to line their nests.


Elder Den The elder den, like the warriors den takes cover underneath shrubs.

Prey & Predator

TorClan doesn't oft get to taste rabbit, but they do enjoy birds, chimpmunks, ducks and other water fowl, ground squirrels, lizards, mice, shrews, voles, and woodchucks. They do sometimes eat fish from Splash Pond, but as its a small pond and only a few of the cats even like fish they don't often use it as a prey source as they much prefer the water fowl they might be able to snag. While they might enjoy lizards they leave the toads and frogs alone. Mostly they eat birds, chipmunks and lizards as they are more abundant than the other small prey in their territory.

TorClan is lucky in regards to their territory when it comes to predators. They mostly need to be concerned about eagles, hawks and owls. They do run into the occasional fox. Sometimes they hear coyotes or wolves, but so far they've been lucky that they sound so far away. They do have to worry about bears that might be after the berries of their shrubs, but that does require extra effort in climbing on the bears part. Where TorClan and the other six clans live however there are no badgers. There are however skunks and raccoons.

It is encouraged to find connections between characters which do not yet have any connection at all.
