ShadowFire
A shadow is one that cannot be caught.
A fire is one that cannot be tamed.
They are two very different things, but a fire cannot exist without casting a shadow, and a shadow cannot exist without the light from the flames. They exist around one another.
The shadow is calm and calculating. Smart and observant, everywhere and no where at the same time. It does not take the time to get to know one person or thing, it simply collects information and disappears one the job is done.
The fire is loud and rash. Quick-witted and stubborn, always making sure that the fight ends with it winning. It is a bit emotional and can easily be stirred to a rage. If it has a job to do it's loud, it's heated and whatever isn't in the job description will be burnt to the ground.
Some people are born out of the ordinary. Some have parlor tricks, some have massive abilities. Some can control water, some can fly, some can use magic. Some people are just talented with a natural ability that doesn't require any super natural help.
Rarely, though, there is a combination of two beings to exist.
A shadow.
A fire.

x -- The world here is large. So very large, but there aren't as many people and creatures as you'd think to exist here. There are countries of good, and countries of bad. This country, Blackwater, is not one of the good ones. Ran by pirates, ran by the criminal under-world, it is not a good one. Constant attacks from the Nether World come like a black mist across the sea. Only the foolish, the selfish or the stupidly brave live here. The brave ones don't last long, neither do the foolish.
Character A has lived here their entire life. Not exactly in the capital city, Ashport, but they've lived in Blackwater. They know the horrors of when the black mist comes. They know the crooked officials, they know the laws, they know the streets aren't safe. As a orphan, you learn to go with what'll keep you alive. Parlor tricks, at first. Stealing, gambling, though murder was one thing they didn't dabble in, not liking to get their hands dirty. They were smart and careful, something always up their sleeve. Arrested, but never caught, gone from their cell by morning. Their real name a secret, infamously known as The Shadow. They will steal just about anything that you require of them, and do it silently without anyone ever knowing.
Character B isn't originally from Blackwater. They got here by a pirate ship, smuggled as a child laborer. However, they escaped, by their own trickery. Confident, proud, loud. Wherever they went, there was a fire, there were gun shots, there was smoke. A thief. A gambler. A mercenary. They grew up in the streets of Ashport and knew them like the back of their hand. No matter the odds, there was a confident flame in their eyes, one that couldn't be snuffed out. They've fought one on ten, one on fifteen, one on twenty. No one could take The Flame alive. An outlaw, that'll do just about anything that you ask them to if the price is high enough.
How Character A and Character B met is a strange fate. The renowned Flame and the infamous Shadow, coming together for a gamble, a cover place to find their next job. Going to the same place, for the same job. Originally, it was supposed to be a job for five people. The two could have done it themselves, but for the first time ever, they decided to work with someone else. There was a fire for adventure and danger in the Shadow's eyes that the Flame couldn't shake off, reflecting their own love for it. There was a confident understanding of the recklessness and danger to the Flame, one that came with experience that the Shadow knew was needed for this.
Coming together, Character A and Character B flawlessly did their job. Testing their luck, they tried a few more jobs together and they worked together beautifully. The Shadow's smart observant nature followed by the Flame's skill and experience, nothing stood in their way, the two young adults being able to steal just about anything and get away without ever getting caught. Sometimes the Shadow would let themself get caught, purely for the evasion, only to disappear before their eyes and return to their partner's side.
Character A and Character B had it all. They were the best criminals, some of the most wanted ones, to exist. Each country they visited, every city they walked in, they left with their bounty growing, becoming well wanted targets by each government. The rich, the poor, the foolish, the smart. No one could stand up against the ShadowFire that they had become. Character A was too slippery, Character B was too skilled. They couldn't be caught.
Until one job gone wrong. A job that required their entire team, which they had decided to make over a course of a few trials and errors. On the docks of Ashport, Character A was supposed to be caught, so the team could slip out with the stolen treasure. They had gone there, only to find that there was no one waiting for them. The rest of the team came around, but a explosive flame had came up from a storage house, not too far away. Character B was surrounded.
Fifty, seventy-five, one hundred men. The worst odds yet. Guns pointed, loaded and trigger finger itching to shoot. Military officials of Blackwater. To die rescuing Character B or to escape and come back for them, that was the problem that was to be solved by Character A. The one person that they were loyal to, they were forced by the rest of the team to leave behind. As they left, Character A and Character B locked eyes, hurt in the Shadow's eyes, betrayal in the Flame's.
The rescue mission was a failure. Character A barely escaped with their life, the same not to be said for their crew, lifeless among the prison guard's work. Every attempt to get in and get out with their partner ended badly. Character B was put in one of the best prisons in the world. There was no chance of rescue, even by the Shadow.
And so, over the course of a year, Character A was forced to give up and leave behind the one person they cared for. To accept that this was their fate and they couldn't change it. The Shadow had disappeared for good and a change of name came around. Years passed and Character B's hatred for Character A grew with each passing moment. What should have broken them, what should have killed them and their spirit, didn't. Focused and fueled by the rage of betrayal, they vowed to escape and to make Character A suffer the same way.
Ten years later, that's exactly what happened.
For the first time in history, a prisoner escaped Heilseam Prison. Character B was back into the real world. And the Flame's blood-lust was not to go unsated. Fueled by the flames of hatred and rage, they are now off to find their so called 'partner' that left them to die, to rot in prison, to be tortured until they broke. Character A is even more slippery, but more careful. No one knows what they look like, no one knows their name, who they are. All they know is that they get the job done.
A easy job, now. Character A has been hired for a simple snatch and run job. Steal the prized sword of the Captain of Blackwater, get out. Simple. Easy. Paid 50,000 gold golems for it. There's a little bit of a hiccup, not known to Character A, however. There's been an anonymous tip, by the very person whom hired Character A. That the once known Shadow was about to do another job, that just so happened to be at the very place that things went wrong for the ShadowFire. There is far more to this job than either of the two realize. A set-up, one might say. But neither of the two realize it.
Character B's hunt for Character A has finally truly begun.

Character B's hunt for Character A has finally truly begun.
Character A is a shadow elemental, the only of their kind, since elementals don't really exist or are around for very long. They can travel through shadows, turn themself into a shadow and see through shadows, being able to control the darkness. In a room, they can make all the lights disappear and only pitch-black darkness to stay. They use shadows as their weapon. A shadow dagger, knife, sword. Silent weapons that can be thrown, used in their hand to get the job done quietly without alerting too many people. Some shadow daggers can be thrown to slow, some can be used to immobilize, some can be used to sap the energy from one soul to make themself stronger. Their weakness, funnily enough, isn't light. No, a shadow elemental has one weakness, ironically for one to be working with a fire elemental; water. If completely submerged, they cannot use their shadows at all.
Character B is a fire elemental, the only one of their kind, since elementals don't really exist or are around for very long. They can create all types of flames at their will. Though it's best they carry a unique flame elemental gun around, they can use flames to their every wish and whim. To make a house suddenly burn up in flames, to use the smoke as a screen to make it impossible to see or breathe. Hot flames, cold flames, explosive flames, liquid flames, All types can be summoned and transformed to whatever will they have. Heat does not hurt them, the cold cannot touch them. You'd think, as a fire elemental, their weakness would be water. That's not quite it, not enough to catch them. Their weakness is space. Enclosed tight spaces, it's not just a phobia for them, it makes it very difficult to use their magic. Fire cannot exist if there isn't enough air flow in a space, and if they are forced into a corner, without the help of another, they cannot use their magic and have to rely on regular weapons.
There are magic nullifying metals, however. Cuffs, iron bars and such that will not allow one to use magic within a certain space. The only magic nullifying prison known is Heilseam Prison. Cuffs, that make it so a user cannot use magic, however, are common upon enforcers of the law or in wars. Some, however, specify only one type of magic and only weak some other's powers, not fully nullifying it.
. . . .
This is in a different world from Earth. Where magic is common, though humans aren't the ones to usually be able to wield it, other creatures, animalistic chimeric beings being the ones able to. Some who steal the power from past demonic beings can, and very very few humans were born being able to use it. Some places are almost futuristic, with robots walking and talking around. Some others, like Blackwater, are of the pirate age still. All depending on where you go.
This role-play is based around Blackwater, but there are other countries too. I'd like this to be an advanced role-play, one of about three to five paragraphs minimum per response. It can be platonic, it can be romantic, whatever you'd really like between these two. Two males would be preferred, but I can do whatever you'd really like. Female with female, male with female. It's up to you on that, but I've already stated what I'd prefer.
We can start off from where the plot leaves off. I know it's a long one to state, but I wanted to get into the background of what's happening. Can't just say a simple thing, I want there to be a real back-story to this plot! And, if you have noticed, yes, this is based off of some League of Legends lore.

Character A -x- spotted
Standing at 5'10" is the Shadow himself, whom now goes by Crooked Chance. His former name, Ethan Spade, is a name that only one living soul knows of. Long pure black hair reached down to his waist in a long braid, his bright blue eyes staring through you. Calculating, careful and precise with all his actions, Chance may seem charming and sweet, but it's to use you and only use you. He has no loyalty and no care for your well being and purely doesn't kill unless he has to because it'll get blood on him and he really doesn't like staining his skin nor his clothes. A bit stuck up and proper, he only settles for the best things in life, and due to his career, the heavens above know how he can afford anything he wishes for.
Character B -x- wolfsnow
Golden waves of blonde hair and striking amber eyes make Lydia Grey look just as much like the flames her powers produce. Though only 5'3, the fierceness of her gaze and the mischievous cunning of her grin make attention drawn to her. She is alluring, confident in her ways, and skillful at maneuvering people and situations to get what she wants. She is coy and mysterious, though her presence is always known. Much of her strength lies behind her beauty, a lovely distraction for the deadly power that rages within. She is stubborn and brash and thinks with her heart. To be a friend of The Flame is to be loyally supported with her life and passion. To be an enemy is to risk her wrath - and she will stop at nothing.
