Daisypaw stared back at the she-cat, taking notice of her one injured eye. This cat felt a little more familiar than any other time, somehow... "I figured," Daisypaw responded with a sigh. The faint scent of sweet herbs caught her nose, and she blinked curiously at her. "Are you a medicine cat?"

A rare, light smile appeared along the black and white she-cats muzzle. She turned to face back the direction she had come and responded, "Yes, I--was. Come with me." Without looking back, she led the way through the forest, where the trees thinned out lightly. "My name is Songfall. I was around when Echostar was a younger cat, and Skystar had barely been born." Her tail seemed to wave with each step she took, small puffs of light coming from the opaque ground with each step she made. She continued to walk forward as she looked to Daisypaw. "I've seen you grow since you've joined our Clan, Daisypaw. You've made all of us in StarClan proud to have you."

Daisypaw quickly moved her little legs to catch up with she-cat, soon matching her speed. She must be ancient then, if she was around when Skystar was born! Daisypaw thought amusedly, then grimaced. Didn't StarClan cats read minds? She mentally shrugged and felt her face grow warm with the praise. "Th-Thank you..." she said. "I'm glad I became a medicine cat." Her eyes were still taking in the lovely sparkles in the remaining trees, and the way stardust seemed to float off Songfall's fur.

As the two reached a clearing, Songfall stopped. The clearing was not unfamiliar to the apprentice; it was a starry version of their very own camp. "GroveClan's ancestors followed the Clan after the fire of the old territory," Songfall explained. "We watch you from here." Several starry cats moved around, minding their own business within the camp. Some were very pale and faded, while others were very bright and easy to see. Songfall's eyes went over the brightest of them all, including Falconwing, Stormshadow, and Sparrowfeather(probably lol rip). "Though you've met so many expectations of ours, your journey will not be easy. Even now, you've just lost a clanmate..." She nodded sadly over to Sparrowfeather. Near the leaders den, a nonchalant, faint version of Skystar moved around wistfully.

Daisypaw's eyes widened as they entered the clearing, her heart swelling at the cats she recognized immediately, like Falconwing. Her ears pricked when she noticed Sparrowfeather's spirit. At first there was confusion, and a pang of pity for not being there, then realization; another victim from the sickness, perhaps? There were no wounds in StarClan, so she couldn't tell by looking. "What's happening to our Clanmates?" she asked Songfall, gazing up at her. Would the she-cat even have an answer?

"That is something we must leave up to you to find out yourself," Songfall replied. "It is not StarClan's doing. There are things we cannot see from beyond our borders. It is an unknown sickness to us, and we first noticed it within Stormshadow, and then Skystar's second life. Sparrowfeather suffered the same fate." The she-cats eyes remained on Daisypaw, but seemed to still have sadness lingering in them. "His is not the last life that will be claimed," she said.
Turning to look back at the many previous cats of the Clan, Songfall spoke to Daisypaw without facing her as she watched the other starry cats. "Whisperwing didn't have anything to do with the sickness either, if you've thought of that. We're no longer connected to her, so I thought I'd tell you, instead. Whisperwing is a regular cat now, so when you need help or advice, I will see to you." Songfall continued, gently taking a seat as the other cats seemed to continue on without notice. "We chose you over Quietsong, as we had forseen a dark future for her. She left with Snowfall and Darkkit, and we can no longer see them. The future of our Clan rests in your paws now, Daisypaw... We'd like to see to it that you receive your name tonight, as a rightful medicine cat."

Daisypaw nodded solmenly. Her ear flicked at the mention of "beyond our borders." That must have been where the sickness was coming from, especially if not even StarClan could figure it out. Hopefully her Clanmates hadn't lost their faith in StarClan due to all the death recently. Her eyes brightened at the last words. "Really?" she asked, her tail rising in the air. She could already feel the responsibility weighing on her shoulders, but it wasn't as scary as it could have been without her ancestors working with her. She had hoped perhaps Quietsong would help finish her training, but after she left Daisypaw felt lonlier than ever. But now a StarClan medicine cat would be guiding her!

"Yes," Songfall replied, once more getting to her paws. Songfall led the way out of the clearing and, though she was only walking, the territory moved by in a blur. Within a moment, Songfall stood beside the Moonpool. Daisypaw's opaque body sat still beside the Moonpool, and Songfall walked right past. "This is where you would normally be receiving your name, would you have had Whisperwing beside you for the remainder of your training," she meowed. "I'll give it to you in her stead... Are you ready?"

Daisypaw glanced at her still body as she walked past, then sat in front of Songfall. She let out a deep breath and said, โIโm ready.โ She wished Ehisperwing could have been here to see this.

Songfall nodded. "Very well. I, Songfall, past medicine cat of GroveClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with our help she will serve her Clan for many moons. Daisypaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"

[Lmao]
Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. Daisypaw, from this moment you will be known as Daisybug. StarClan honors your loyalty and resilience, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of GroveClan." Songfall touched her muzzle ever so gently to Daisybug's head. "Remember, if you need my guidance, I will be here for you." With a bursting noise, Songfall disappeared in a flash of water droplets that shone silvery as she sent Daisybug back.

Daisybug snapped her head up when she awoke, and instinctively shook out her head to rid of The droplets that werenโt real. For a moment, she took in what had just happened. She was a full medicine cat now! With quite the job to handle back in GroveClan. Sparrowfeather popped in her head, and she quickly got to her paws and hurried out of the cavern. She padded up to Hawkjaw, hoping he was still awake, and mewed, โIโm back.โ

As he lay watching the silent night creep on, Hawkjaw felt his eyelids beginning to grow heavy. He forced himself awake to protect the precious life inside the cavern, but found himself staring into a safe expanse of clearing between the woods and the Ancient Moonpool. It seemed that hours had stretched on before he heard a familiar voice sound behind him. Hawkjaw jumped at the sound of Daisybug's voice as she approached. For the duration of her ceremony he had been so intent on what was happening outside of the cave that he hadn't heard what was going on inside. He rounded to face her, an excited smile etched across his face. "So?" He asked, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Did it happen? Do you have a new name?" He asked expectantly. I can't believe I'll be the first living cat to know her name. He thought in astonishment as he stared at the orange and white she-cat.

โYep,โ Daisybug said with a purr. โItโs Daisybug.โ She beamed up at Hawkjaw proudly, then remembered what Songfall had shown her. Sparrowfeather had died earlier that day, due to the same sickness. Her paws began to prick with anxiety. โLetโs head back to camp.โ

Noticing her rift in expression, Hawkjaw dipped his head in agreement. "Alright, lead the way, medicine cat." He meowed proudly. Bringing up the rear was his way of protecting the cat who was now the soul protector of the clan from ailments. A sickening feeling was clawing at his stomach, though as the two began their trek back to camp. The clear expanse the two walked through before reaching the forest made his skin crawl as it had when the deranged kittypet had attacked them, and he felt his gaze darting around as if the large she-cat would appear from the shadows yet again. (( okay cue the two rogues amiright))

((Yassss)) Daisybug was mostly happy that she got her full name, except for knowing that someone else had died from the sickness, and that that weird kittypet could possibly come back. There was a constant chill down her back as she thought of her, but she knew she had Hawkjaw with her. However, they were both still wary.

After the battle with Hawkjaw, Shadow had ran back toward twolegplace as fast as her three uninjured legs would carry her. The fight had embarrassed her beyond wit's end, and she knew justice needed to be served to the large tabby tom. When she finally arrived, a plan had molded in her head to rue the day.
Shadow peeked eagerly from behind a bush, the gash in her paw causing her to lift it from the ground in pain. "Are you ready?" She whispered to her accomplice, Gremlin, who stood by her side watching the two cats she had previously ambushed walk nervously into the wood.

Gremlin nodded quickly, giving a wide smile. "Of course," he whispered back, and danced back and forth on his paws.
The bush rustled at his movements, and Daisybug's ears swiveled to the direction of the sound. However, she couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from, and it soon stopped. "Did you hear that?" she whispered as she looked back to Hawkjaw, fear lacing her voice.

Hawkjaw, too turned to face the source of the noise. His fur rise instinctively, and he was suddenly aware of the scent of two unknown cats. Slight panic rose in his chest, and his eyes narrowed in haught concentration. "Run Daisypaw!" He hissed loudly, grounding his claws in the earth as Shadow trappists confidently from the hidden bush.

Daisybug's eyes widened, and she scrambled up the nearest tree. She sat on the lowest hanging branch, in case she needed to jump down and help. Her lips were drawn back in a hiss. She wouldn't let Hawkjaw fight both of them alone if she could help it.
Gremlin stepped out behind Shadow, crouched low to the ground with his tail constantly twitching. "Are these the intruders you told me about?" the scraggly tom rasped as his eyes glinted in the moonlight. "They're so scrawny!"

Hawkjaw recoiled in disgust at the sight of the gangly creatures that emerged from the shadows. Shadow hadn't looked good before the earlier battle, but now her fur was torn and ragged causing her to look even more frightful. She stood on three legs, and Hawkjaw felt a surge of pride at weakening the attacker. Her accomplice, who Hawkjaw guessed was Gremlin, only made a worse appearance for the two. "We may be scrawny but at least we aren't hideous." Spat Hawkjaw, lips drawn back in a sneer. "What are the two of you even doing here?" He asked scathingly, though he forced his hair to lay down to seem in control on the situation. He hoped he was buying Daisybug some time. ------ Without an answer, Shadow cocked her head to Gremlin as if to signal something, and she began to circle Hawkjaw counter-clockwise. Finally after several moments, she spoke. "Me and my pal here are gonna take this cavern off your hands." She replied cooley, her yellow eyes glowing crescent moons against her dark silhouette of a face. "I'nt that right Gremlin?" She called to the odd-haired tom.

Gremlin slunk around the other direction slowly, his claws sliding in and out impatiently. "That's right," he agreed with a snicker. He glanced up at the tree where the other cat was hiding. "You don't mind, do you? I'm sure you have enough territory without it."
Daisybug was clinging to the tree branch, unsure of what to do. She could run and get help, but she didn't want to lead the cats to camp if one decided to follow her. And if she ran in another direction on her own, who knew where she'd end up, or what would happen if they caught her... For now, she kept on the branch and glared down at them, her fur bushed up to twice her size.

Hawkjaw whirled around to face Gremlin, his better judgement to not turn his back on an enemy forgotten when he thought Daisybug may be in danger. "Leave her be." He commanded firmly, a futile attempt to maintain control. -----
With Hawkjaw unsuspecting as he was, Shadow saw an opportunity. She distributed all her weight to her haunches, then launched herself at Hawkjaw. Her teeth collided with his shoulder and she felt hot blood gush into her mouth before the large warrior shook her off. "Oh c'mon!" She meowed mockingly, "is that all? Surely we can't have a teeny but if fun eh?" With a pointed look to Gremlin that told him to help her out, she launched herself again, this time being knocked off balance by an aware Hawkjaw. He used the she-cat's weight to her disadvantage, making her roll with an earth rumbling thud to the ground. She let herself be pinned by him, awaiting Gremlin's attack.

Hawkjaw curled his back, wincing in pain as he felt sharp claws break through the skin on his spine. Panic began to flush through him as he realized blood was flowing from the wound. In the instant he went to gather himself and fight back, he was bowled over once more by Gremlin. Great Starclan! He thought as Shadow reared into her hind legs, ready to crash down onto him with her whole body weight. Hawkjaw rolled out of the way just in time, but the wound on his back inhibited him greatly. -- "Ready to give up?" Shadow jeered, now standing on three paws. Her tail lashed excitedly, and her eyes glowed with the pride of having tired the large tabby down. ----
He couldn't run to camp, and he couldn't flee because he needed to protect Daisybug. Hawkjaw realized that now was the time for action. He had been ambushed before but he wouldn't let the two think they had won for long. In a flash, Hawkjaw had launched himself at Shadow and matched his claws in her back. With a triumphant screech he sank his sharp teeth into one of her ears and felt hot blood ooze onto his tongue. Shadow let out a yowl of pain before rolling into her side, causing Hawkjaw to bowl off of her. He rolled right back into action, this time running head-first at her flank and bowling her over. He turned back toward Gremlin, his tail lashing, and leaped toward the smaller tom. This time with unsheathed claws he lashed at the tom's face, landing a deep scratch from cheek to mouth.

Daisybug screeched when she saw Gremlin rake his claws down the deputy's back. "Get away from him!" she cried, but a wave of relief crash into her when he at least escaped Shadow. She could see the blood trailing down his flank, and her fur bristled. What was she to do now? She couldn't let him fight alone could she? The ginger-and-white she-cat hopped down the tree and pressed her back against the trunk, letting out a defiant hiss as Hawkjaw proceeded to gain the upper hand again. I can fight them if I have to! ((sure jan))
Gremlin hissed and pulled back, feeling blood begin to bead at his lips. He snarled and lunged forward again, dodging under Hawkjaw and managing to rake another set of claws against his soft underbelly. When he popped up again behind Hawkjaw, he attemped to jump onto the tom's back; his eyes caught the lighter she-cat climbing out of the tree. "It's the other one!" he hissed pointedly, looking to Shadow.

Shadow narrowed her eyes to the white she-cat scrambling down the tree. With Hawkjaw preoccupied with Gremlin, Shadow darted towards her. "Going somewhere are we dearie?" She meowed maliciously, baring her teeth. She blocked any escape for Daisybug, and kept her sharp eyes on her carefully. I don't even have to fight this one. Easy practice. She thought, lashing out her claws in an attempt to intimidate the fluffy cat.
--------
Hawkjaw hissed in pain as he felt claws rake his underbelly. Instinctively, he began to shake furiously to get Gremlin off his back. When the thin-furred tom didn't budge, her reared onto his hind legs, feeling his muscles bulge beneath the weight of an extra cat.

Daisypaw arched her back with a hiss. She fluffed up her fur in attempt to look unafraid, but honestly she was terrified. "You can't just attack us and expect to get territory," she spat, narrowing her eyes. "What do you even want with that cave?"
Gremlin slid off of Hawkjaw's back and hissed, shaking his head furiously. Before the bigger tom could land again, he kicked his back legs into Hawkjaw's to keep him from escaping.

(( lol Daisybug that is a good question!!!!!! Idek)))
"That's where you're wrong sweets." Laughed Shadow, her voice taught. An annoyed lash of her tail was the only noise that pierced the silence that ensued, as the toms had stopped with Hawkjaw at the mercy of Gremlin. "We're here to find shelter, and that cave," she stopped to point with her tail at the Ancient Moon Pool, "is our savior." She accentuated her words in mock vulnerability, fully believing every word she said. She stepped toward Daisybug threateningly, her teeth bared in a snarl. She slashed out unsheathed claws, barely scraping Daisybug's nose. ------
When Hawjaw saw Shadow slash Daisybug, a new rage burned inside him like the fire that destroyed the last Groveclan home. "Don't touch her!" He roared furiously. His rage gave him more strength than he had felt in the first battle against Shadow, and he hurled Gremlin off of him. He reached Shadow in milliseconds, wasting no time to bite into her hind leg. She whirled to face him and rapped at his face with unsheathed claws. He didn't release her leg, however until he felt a sickening crack between his teeth. --- Shadow felt raw pain surge through her leg. A yowl of sheer torture curdled from her throat, and instinctively she bit down onto Hawkjaw's ear. Hot blood pooled into her mouth, but she couldn't relish in it due to the pain in her leg. After a few moments, she let go. "We just want a place to stay!" She meowed pathetically, releasing Hawkjaw's ear after he raked his front claws along her shoulder. -----
"Well it won't be here!" Spat Hawkjaw, droplets of blood flying out of his mouth. His ear and back bled profusely, and his bad shoulder throbbed in pain. "Leave while you still have two paws to walk on. Or you will die over land that was never yours" He hissed scathingly, ignoring yowls of protest from Gremlin behind him.
