Graydapple gives birth to 5 kits, but dies during the kitting from complications. Opalfur takes the kits in as her own since Graydapple was one of her mates but gets quickly overwhelmed by the large amount of kittens. Harmonyleaf decides to come back to the nursery as a full-time queen to help with Opalfur's kits and any more queens and kits in the future.

A badger invades the camp. Hollystar loses a life and Icywood, Waterspark, and Patchpaw are killed in the fight. Silverpaw, Cinnamonpaw, and Harepaw chase the badger away and are rewarded for their bravery by receiving their warrior names.
