A pair of foxes attack the camp and Lightwood is killed in battle and Hollystar loses another life. Blackpaw is found dead in the medicine cat den and is presumed to have been killed by the fox during the fray.

Shadowheart gives birth to 3 healthy kits.
During the night a cat shrouded in darkness enters the nursery and tries to kill Shadowheart and her kits, but is stopped by Hollystar who was secretly keeping watch over her mate. The cat is revealed to be Torrentsplash the medicine cat, and it is revealed that he has been behind all of the misfortunes happening in the clan, down to all the mysterious killings and the false prophecy of destruction. Torrentsplash has been bent on revenge after everyone learned that his parents broke the code by being mates and having kits. He killed his father that night during a rogue raid on camp in anger and kept on killing his kin and anyone else whenever he had the chance, letting the former deputy Crushclaw take the fall for it all. He wanted to destroy the clan for what they did to him but now because of Hollystar his plans were ruined. He is forced to escape the territory, but not before swearing one day to return and finish what he started.
The clan is shocked, and now is without a medicine cat.
