YES!I FINALLY GOT ALL THE RIGHT PARTS!I CAN NOW MAKE A PENCIL LAUNCHER!I finally got to go to our junk yard and got a small trigger looking thing with dual hooks at the top so now I can put it all together and shoot out pencils at my brother

my work has been on strike...lol um for the past 11 days....
it was the absolute worst experience....outside standing for 9 hours in the freezing cold and down pouring rain....and no pay and no days off...
um. today was the first day back at work. all department managers came in at 7:30 this morning and we had a meeting with the store manager and got to work....it was....
the whole store was....empty. it stunk. everything had to be thrown out....every single department is completely empty....we had to throw out literally everything........
it was right before easter. i got 40 cases in right before we had to go on strike.....every single case had to get donated bc...all the easter stuff i got in....my department is destroyed. i have absolutely nothing. bc we were setting up for easter and in the middle of it had to drop everything and leave what we were doing, all of it went to waste......it was....the worst thing ever......we were gearing up for easter....sowe had so much stuff........and....it all went to waste....my department is in worse shape now than it was when i got in and there is nothing i can do right now. i cant order anything either...
the store is just... a mess
and its gonna take time to get it back together....
the only good thing that came out of the strike was now our store is that much closer....we are all such a big family now lol we were all close before but now we are all...really close which is nice
....its just....been....an experience.....
i just...cant believe....right before easter.....
and now, its gonna throw me back for mothers day.....im not gonna be able to catch up in time. theres no way.
our store managers are really supportive of us...the district management is........not at all.....they are punishing us...which is...great |

the company was trying to take away health benefits, pay raises, time & a half, benefits for new associates, vacation time, and holiday among other things
in the previous years, they also took away all benefits for part-timers so they were basically screwing everyone over

ya....insurance basically...covered everything under disaster....but......its not good
um....most of it...its a tentative agreement atm....we didn't get time & a half...but i think we got most everything else..they haven't released full statement yet
see, what we do at my work is we work 6 days a week and sunday is always time & half bc its overtime
but basically what they wanted to do is get rid of that...which would mean they would have to give us 2 days off a week which isn't as productive...no one would work on sunday
it just doesn't make sense
so what might happen is they will have full timers do sundays time &half but not part timers and new associates

Is it 6 8 hour days a week? I love my 2 days off, I help out occasionally and will work a 6th day at time and a half but I would rather not.
Are you considered a new associate since it's a new store for you, or not since you've been with the company for so long?

we work 5 days of 9 hours and 1 day (sunday) anywhere from 4-9 hours (typically, i do 6, they don't like to do much longer than that but will if need be)
we don't currently have a choice of working sundays or not- its required we work 6 days
this is the same store I've been at for 4 yrs
if i were though, my store manager or uncle would override it bc I've been here for 4 yrs

Ah. I thought you were switching stores when you switched to floral.
Does the 9 hours count a lunch, or do you work 9 hours not counting the lunch? I tend to forget most people work 9 hour days because of a lunch, since at my job I don't get a lunch break and and therefore there a legit 8 hours.
