Wrenstorm nodded, frowning to herself. She had tried to keep the fox out of her mind, but she knew she couldn't if she wanted to be smart. The elder wished she could take her friend to that spot, to make some new memories or atleast reminisce in the old ones but she'd be lying if she said she could fend off a fox. She couldn't even stand up after laying down without being in some kind of pain. "Yeah. Well, once this fox is out of our fur we could definitely go and visit and take a dip. My old bones could probably use it." she chuckled. Once they were a little farther out from the camp she stilled her movements, opening her mouth to taste the air for prey. The scent of squirrel hit the roof of her mouth and she felt a swell of energy in her chest as she flicked Riverwillow with her tail, letting her know prey was nearby if she hadn't scented it before the elder.
Lotuswaves wanted to jump around for her apprentice but she decided against in, tuning her energy into a soft encouraging tone. "Applepaw, that was an amazing catch, you did everything perfectly." The orange she-cats chest swelled once again with pride. "Do you want to bury that and move on for some more prey? I'll watch your next catch and after that we can head back to camp with the spoils of your training." the she-cat mused. They had been out for a little bit and she knew a lot of cats were out hunting at the moment either way.
Riverwillow, though quite adept at hunting, had not scented the squirrel... Her brain was busy reminiscing. She didn't remember much of her family from before the clan, She only remembered that she had a mother... she didn't remember a father. Well, she barely remembered her mother. She did remember, however, that her mother had called her River... She kept that name, she told Crowstrike she had kept it because she was used to it...Though in reality, she kept it in the hopes of running into her mother one day... When Wrenstrike swatted at Riverwillow with her tail she flinched slightly, she then moved to where she hoped the squirrel would not smell her. She watched Wrenstrike, as she always had, hoping to pick up on any hunting technique she hadn't seen before.

Vixenpaw replying to Ebonybird & Quailfeather.
Her tail swayed back and forth, her ears perked forward. The slender ginger she-cat was a sly one and that was known; with eyes wise beyond their years and movements that promised she would be troublesome in the future. Her eyes narrowed at her mentor and her whiskers twitched, gaze flicking between the two warriors before she sat down neatly, in a pose that could be likened to that of royalty's. Vixenpaw was, no doubt, the sort of she-cat who would be using her charm to get her own way in the future; but for now, it was childish behaviour.
"Battle moves," she repeated the words with something hidden in her tone. Momentarily, the apprentice's gaze flicked to Ebonybird - a glimmer of mischievousness in her green gaze, lips quirked upwards as if to say, I think my mentor might agree to these terms. She was rather proud of the way she spoke and it showed; there was a sort of charisma that promised to grow into something more. Perhaps, one day, she would be leader material; she had held those dreams since a kitten, and tried so very hard to prove herself. When she'd been very young, she had always watched Sagestar and had tried her best to copy the she-cat's movements. In time, however, she learned that she was her own cat, and that she needed to become something else.
Watching Ashstar had proved that; though he'd been leader for barely a day, he seemed to have settled into himself. She wondered if it was just that easy, or if there were hidden qualities for a leader. Was there a difference between a cat destined for deputy and one destined to become leader? She thought there was, but she couldn't quite be sure.
And then, as she expected, Quailfeather agreed and she stood up in a swift movement, back arching in an elegant stretch and tail waving in the air. Small paws padded forward briefly before she paused as more terms were pushed upon her. Staying close. No arguing if they had to go back. For a moments, she looked downright murderous - but the darkening of her eyes and minute flattening of her ears passed, and she mulled the words over. Listening to others would be a good idea, she thought, maybe I'll tell him once we're out. He's a curious cat, right?
She could only hope that he was as curious as her.
"Of course, Quailfeather," her whiskers twitched and her gaze flicked briefly to Ebonybird. If she had eyebrows, they likely would have been raised. "I know there's been stale fox-scent, so it shouldn't be close. I think we'll be fine."
Just like that, the apprentice made her way towards the camp entrance, pausing momentarily to throw a look over her shoulder at the two toms. Vixenpaw would, no doubt, be a formidable warrior; it was a matter of reigning in the ambition and the determination to a more manageable level, to give her more realistic dreams. For now, though, she was relatively harmless.
Hollystrike replying to Mossthorn.
A soft, low chuckled passed the young tom's throat. Had he upset Mossthorn? He hoped not, but he also didn't mind; there was something amusing about the grumbling tom. With a softened gaze, he watched ahead of them and parted his jaws to take in the scents around them. Water...snakes? They shouldn't be this far up, but that's a situation for another day. I can smell smoke, but that's probably just from the volcano, right? To double-check his suspicions, he looked to the mountain ahead of them. As expected, it was smoking; though not too badly. He expected that they'd have to be more cautious around it, for now.
"Of course," he mewed softly. "If I have to take her on, I'll make it quick but know that I will not stay around for long; it's best to retreat if you smell blood or anything. Worst come to worse, we meet back at the entrance to the camp," it seemed like a solid plan, in his opinion.
As if fate wished for them to find the vixen's nest, he caught a whiff of her fresh-scent. With his tail, he gestured for the smaller tom to follow him and began to track it, belly low to the ground. Try not to make a sound, when tracking predators, his old mentor's words rang in his ears. If you can't stand somewhere they can't detect you, then use water to cover your scent. That wouldn't be too hard, with the river nearby. He supposed that she wanted to be able to get back and forth the source of water without having to stray too far.
We're not far from where Sagestar was attacked. The thought ran chills down his spine, and he paused momentarily. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, but he didn't want to seem like a coward in front of Mossthorn. He swallowed thickly and continued onward with long, slow strides.
Ghostpaw replying to Ravenpaw.
It was nice to have another cat carrying the conversation. For as long as he had been in MoltenClan, Ghostpaw had always been quiet and near-mute; as a kitten, he'd been entirely mute. As an apprentice, he held a vicious stutter and a lack of a will to talk. But when clanmates ignored that and continued the conversation...it was nice. Perhaps he would talk to Feathersong about helping with his speech. He'd heard that it was a thing Medicine Cats could do, that it was something to do with the brain. He liked the idea of being able to talk to others - because, while he was nervous, he was not an antisocial cat. He enjoyed the social contact, he was just...scared of being judged, he supposed.
"I-I'd like to see your fe-fe-feath-feathers," he said, nodding his head slowly. "I, um...d-don't know mu-muh-much about rocks so, if you'd l-li-like to show me those, too..."
It felt impolite to just take an interest in what he liked; he was fairly open to the idea of interesting rocks, even if he didn't personally care about them. Perhaps they were pretty. That would be nice.
The question of his favourite bird made him pause, and he was glad of being told to be quiet. While Ravenpaw went to try to catch the mouse, he thought about bird types - and finally settled on one. He watched the other apprentice from the corner of his eye and could not help the subtle smile that passed his lips as he did so, nodding quietly as the tom returned.
"Ni-ni-nice catch," he wouldn't have noticed the mouse without Ravenpaw pointing it out; all of Ghostpaw's attention was on the sky and on birds, because that seemed to be his forte when it came to hunting. "My fa-fa-fav-favourite bird is an o-owl."
They were silent and deadly, they were incredible hunters. Yes, they claimed the lives of kittens who strayed too far from camp; and in that aspect, they were the ideal predator. They preyed on the unsuspecting victims, they knew exactly what they were doing. Ghostowl, he thought, should definitely be my warrior name.
"Wh-wh-what do y-you th-think your wa-warrior name would be?" he asked, on that train of thought.
Feathersong replying to Burntpetal.
Was this what it meant to be a Medicine Cat? A sort of warmth blossomed in Feathersong's chest, and though he could not see the kittens, he knew that he doted on them already. While it was true that he loved all of MoltenClan equally (even the ones he didn't particularly love), he found that witnessing the new generation was...it was nice. He was a young cat himself, and knowing that these would be the clanmates who would know him as someone who'd been around forever, who'd laugh at him when he got old; there was something...nice about it.
"Dusk-kit, Sandkit, and Mistkit," he murmured, "they will be truly wonderful in the future. I believe in them."
He lowered his head to gently touch a nose to each of the three, a low purr rumbling in his throat. When his ear was licked, his purr became louder and he bumped his nose against the queen's to show that he appreciated the gesture. There were no words to say how much it meant to him that Burntpetal had wanted him to help with naming the kits; and even more so, his suggestions had been taken!
"Would you like me to get you some fresh-kill?" he asked, "or anything else? I can see if we have any feathers for your nest, so that both you and the little ones are comfortable."

okay so. feathertalon and miaou are both inactive. i'm removing feathertalon as medicine cat - so if anyone else wants that role, the preferred age would be 40+ moons as they will be feathersong's mentor. i won't delete their other characters for now, but they have another week to get online before i delete them both entirely from this roleplay. qinglong and beefsmoothie are both excused so their activity at present doesn't matter, especially since qinglong is a mod. zombiegrrl, dawncatcher, canis lupus, forgotmenot, aether and lotuswaves, your activity is fine and you don't need to worry. i haven't seen leafy or sweetened recently but none of us have been active so i can give it another week, nbd.
regarding plots: the fox plot is going to be pushed in since we don't need to wait for feathertalon, as they're currently inactive. there are three options: a) mossthorn (forgot) & hollystrike (sui) wreck her den and as such, she ends up coming across the camp in search of a new den. this means that moltenclan would have to fight her off. b) the two above wreck her den and she comes across either a border patrol or a hunting patrol. this means a select 4-6 cats can fight her off (at least two apprentices included); this has a high risk of injury (not fatal! so don't worry) to each cat, but it will also rid the territory of any potential threat for now. c) the fox kills/severely harms someone before the clan hunt her down.
i'm not sure on other options, so feel free to suggest any!
if there are any romance / forbidden romance / etc plots anyone wants, hit me or the person you want romance up with, because those are free reign (aside from forbidden romance; there's a limited amount of those). this includes updating crushes or anything like that.
if anyone has any plot ideas other than that, also hit me up because we've gone past the point of everyone being used to everyone. deputy will be chosen soon, so there'll probably be drama revolving that. there's a variety of plots we could have, ranging from a small sickness outbreak to another (bigger) danger in the territory, to a prophecy. if we go the prophecy route, there should be at least 3 different roleplayers involved in it. if anyone has prophecy ideas, hit me up! i'm always down for those sorts of things.

sure, zombie, you can have it ^^ as i said, preferred age is 40+ moons but a little younger wouldnt be too harmful. i'm probably gonna make more characters soon bc im awful and i want another apprentice l o l.
i'd like a spot in the prophecy but it's not too vital so so far it's dawn, leafy & zombie who're down for it. i think for a journey 4-5 cats would be ample; you'd have to be pretty active for it, but! that's a minor thing.

"Thanks! It's not too big of a meal though, but one kill is better than none, so I guess it's fine. We'll find more prey anyways," Ravenpaw spoke. He got back up again, wanting to reach deeper into Moltenclan territory. His curiosity would probably be the death of him, since he wasn't afraid to check anything out if there was something to be discovered. He saw Ghostpaw as sort of the opposite after hearing his reaction to the idea of encountering a twoleg. Ravenpaw was fine with it, but that doesn't mean that he won't be trying to encourage Ghostpaw into troubling situations in the heat of the moment. After all, Ravenpaw was a young apprentice full of energy and mischievous intent. Hopefully, it would be only few moons until this part of him died out.
"You like owls? They're pretty cool! I have like... one or two owl feathers, but they're not that impressive," Ravenpaw purred, "and rocks... I guess it's kind of hard to explain why I like them... I just think they can be really nice looking sometimes... Especially those layered ones I find.." It was sort of weird for the black tom to be speaking about this so openly, since he'd never really talked about his interest in rocks before. No one seemed to be too intrigued by them, so it wasn't really worth talking about with anyone.
Ravenpaw was silent for a little bit while thinking of his warrior name. He wanted something beautiful but at the same time he wanted a name that would cause him to look fierce. Maybe the 'raven' part of his name already served as the aggressive part of his name, since the black birds were mysterious and seemed to be a symbol of bad luck. Plus, ravens could hunt smaller birds. This would mean that the suffix of his name would have to be something nice... Sky! Skies were a sight to behold, especially during dusk where the colors seemed to mix so beautifully or the late hours of the night when the stars finally got a chance to shine. Coincidentally, ravens and skies were related in the fact that the birds soared through the exquisitely painted sky. "My warrior name would be Ravensky!" he chirped, "I think it sounds nice... What about you? What would your warrior name be?"

Ghostpaw replying to Ravenpaw.
It would still feed someone in MoltenClan, but he decided not to point that out. Instead, he continued onward, tail-tip twitching as he paused momentarily to scent the air. Even here, he could smell the vague hint of fox; it was strange that they hadn't chased it out, yet. Perhaps there was a reason - he didn't know. What he did know was that at some point, it would need to go. The more dangers they had in the territory, the more nervous and withdrawn the Clan would become. He didn't like the idea of that.
He, himself, was not a troublemaker; but he was a follower, and he supposed that wasn't always a good thing. While he would listen to the Warrior Code and patiently listen to anyone telling him anything, he would also be too anxious to refuse trouble, always ready for an adventure whether he knew it or not. He wasn't actively someone who made trouble but - well. He was still one by association, and that was what sometimes upset him. Nonetheless, he followed along fairly cheerfully, eager to find out what was in the territory. Ghostpaw didn't mind taking the blame if someone discovered them here - it was the sort of cat he was.
"Lay-lay-layered ones?" he repeated, looking up to the sky to scan for any birds. One was chirping above their heads - where in StarClan's name was it? Ah. His dark eyes spotted the bird in question and he waved his tail to Ravenpaw before he began to climb, claws digging into the soft bark. Unfortunately, the bird spotted him before he was close, and it flew away with a panicked chirp. Having gotten to only the first branch, Ghostpaw snorted and jumped out of the tree again, landing in a neat crouch. It took him a moment to stand up straight, and he shook himself out once he was sure that he wouldn't fall over.
Ravensky. That sounded...impressive. Much better than Ghostowl. He didn't like that so much, now that he thought about it. He considered it for a few long moments, narrowing his eyes.
"I'd li-li-like Ghostleaf, b-b-but that suffix is f-f-for Medicine Cats, u-usually. So...G-Ghostwhisper? I d-don't know," he ducked his head, "th-there's not much t-t-to do with G-Ghost, huh? I d-don't like it."

Ravenpaw waited silently as he watched the other tom climb the tree for the bird but lose it in the end. Wanting to seem supportive, he exclaimed, "Nice try Ghostpaw!" After that he continued to walk, and this time a bit slower to see if Ghostpaw would ask to stop at a certain point. He hoped not, seeing as the territory wasn't anything really interesting to explore yet.
"Layered rocks... It's like... It's a rock but with layers? I don't know. It's kinda hard to explain. It's striped with different colors. I only have two of them though. I think you'll understand what I mean when I show you." Ghostpaw's reaction and his attempt to reply really did make him wonder why the rocks looked like that. Not being too smart of a cat, Ravenpaw couldn't come up for a reason as to why the rocks looked so strange. "Maybe they were born like that", he joked to himself silently.
"Those are nice names! And ghost is a nice word, you could do... Uh... Ghoststep? Ghost.... Hmm..." he paused and chuckled, "actually, I don't think I'm good at coming up with names. Ghosts are cool though! It matches your white fur." Ravenpaw was aware that he hadn't really done anything but possibly cause Ghostpaw to feel worse about his name, which was very obviously the opposite of his intentions. He felt bad, so all he could do was try to send him some reassurance. The tom spoke again, "Well, whatever. I'm sure you'll figure it out! It's not too big of a deal now, right?"
The tom raised his muzzle in the air, trying to catch the scent of anything. Yet again, only some stale scents and nothing else. "Oh geez, I am not lucky with prey today... Only a small mouse so far," he thought, not wanting to speak out loud and seem like he was trying to get some pity. He didn't want to seem self-centered or anything like that by complaining about his own progress with hunting. There was still time to hunt, so there were no real worries for Ravenpaw. He was just a little disappointed, that's all.

Ghostpaw replying to Ravenpaw.
Though he was a little sad at being unable to catch the bird, Ghostpaw continued walking - only briefly pausing to glance over his shoulder. Right now, he wasn't sure on where (or if) he wanted to stop. He picked up the pace a little and was only mildly surprised to see the swiftly-moving river already, the water tumbling over the rocks and causing waves of white. He paused briefly by it to take a quick drink from some of the slower-moving water, before he lifted his head to look back at the other apprentice.
"O-oh, I se-see." that did make sense. He'd seen some rocks before with layered colours; they were pretty, but often lodged into the mountain side. He'd been there a few times, now. He supposed the older he got, the closer it was getting to his Trial; it was scary, but...that was how it was. He'd have to do it sooner or later, and frankly, he'd rather be an early graduate.
Ravenpaw's attempts on his name made him laugh, low in his throat. He twitched an ear and absently kneaded his paws against the ground; the earth was soft despite a lack of rain, and he suspected it was because of the heat. The sun, now, was high in the sky - something that promised intense heat. He could already feel it and was glad of his paler coat, as it did not attract heat as darker pelts did. Admittedly, he didn't like his chance against predators in this sunlight.
"T-to be f-f-fair, it's As-As-Ashstar's choice if I d-d-don't request any-anything," he said. It was easier to let the leader and/or his mentor suffer over his name choice, as he was entirely unsure of what could be done with his name. "I d-don't like the n-n-name I have, b-but I have n-no choice but to a-a-accept it."
He hated being likened to a ghost. It was like he wasn't there; and even more so, weren't ghosts more closely tied to the Dark Forest? He hated that. Hated the connections behind it. Yeah, it matched the ghostly pale of his pelt - but that didn't mean he had to like it. Ghostpaw's whiskers twitched and he crouched down briefly, before he continued to walk and shook his head. It doesn't matter, he told himself, it's not important. It's just a name.
