It's an allegory. A portrayal of the Christian faith without mentioning it.

It's an allegory. A portrayal of the Christian faith without mentioning it. i just realized I probably can't ask for more than that without there being spoilers for those who haven't seen it, whoops. I'll ask again during/after it's shown on the 3rd ! thank you for the response <3

Legit question for other Christians here:
What do you consider to be the greatest sin? Are all sins equal to you? Would you consider someone who is a glutton, a liar, or prideful on par with someone who's gay (if you're the kind to consider homosexuality a sin) or is there a difference? What about considering someone who's a murderer on par with someone who's a thief? What about a murderer and a liar?
Genuinely curious.

Hey everyone I hope it's okay to post oops I came to check out the poll and realized I have no idea how religion is tied in with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Would anyone be able to enlighten me? While on the subject: I was watching The Polar Express like yesterday and I felt like that might have some religious undertones - yknow, lack of belief and then believing. Is that like A Real Thing? or am I being sillyIroni I've always thought that? There's one quote along the lines of "the realest things are the things we don't see". Ironic, considering the film's subject.

(paraphrased) "You break one law, you are guilty of breaking them all." This means that if you say a lie, it's as bad as killing someone. Kinda puts things into perspective. However the worst one I would say is if no matter what evidence comes their way is denying Christ as Lord and Savior (and they've been known to be Christian).

I asked a couple other people about the Polar Express thing and I got a lot of other responses as well, such as "it literally means santa" ; "it's a metaphor for depression" ; "it's about how friends can pull you through tough times" ; and a rather funny one, "it teaches you to be a good skeptic - believing in something only after you have solid evidence"

I just saw Labyrinth in theaters with my friend for its 30th-anniversary celebration and it was a blast. Secondly... I'm not in the position to assume what the greatest sin is. I'm tempted to say that it's murder, as it's the actual taking of life, but I can't and won't say for certain. Are all sins equal? In some respects, yes... and in others, no. All sins are equal in that all sins offend an infinite and holy God. All sins are equal in that all sins warrant condemnation. But in severity? Murder is obviously worse than lying or harboring private hate; actually stealing is worse than silently envying what someone has, etc. It's kinda like... if there were a scale of one to ten, for example, lying may be a 5 or 6, whereas murder may be a 10 (don't take any of this literally, it's just an illustration); at the end of the day, they're all still on the scale. So it's a yes and a no. Edit: Worth mentioning... all sins are equal in that they're all forgivable. ^^

What about considering someone who's a murderer on par with someone who's a thief? What about a murderer and a liar? Genuinely curious. Not all sins are equal in terms of their earthly repercussions, but they all have the same eternal effect. Even the smallest sin is enough to keep one from heaven forever, which is why Jesus came and died in the first place: to "wash away" our sins so that we're allowed to enter heaven. But sins definitely are not equal in earthly terms: please, please lie to me rather than kill me. Actually, come to think of it, they're not entirely equal in an eternal sense- they are in that they all keep people from heaven, but there are different degrees of punishment in hell (see Matthew 10:15- "Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town" and the parable of the beaten servants in Luke 12), just as there are different degrees of reward in heaven (Christ's salvation is the foundation and gets everyone to heaven, but what you build upon that salvation earns you rewards in heaven). So they're equal in that they all keep you from heaven (and can be forgiven by Christ), but they're not equal in terms of their consequences and punishments. Anyway, the "worst" sin is definitely the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus says is the only sin God will not forgive. Most theologians consider this "blasphemy" to mean total and willful rejection of the Holy Spirit- if the Holy Spirit undeniably stirs within you or shows you something that is irrefutably the work of God in an attempt to move you toward Christ, and you reject this, you're toast. However, this means that anybody who has committed the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit doesn't care and is not concerned about it. So the worst sin, and the only unforgivable one, is rejecting God forever- basically, dying without being saved. Hope I answered your questions!

I almost mentioned the unpardonable sin as being the worst, since, technically, it is, but I feel like... it's weird. It's only unpardonable in that the sinner refuses to be forgiven. So, what I said about all sins being forgivable -- it's true. If you are repentant, you will be forgiven. The only way you can't be forgiven is if you aren't repentant.

I think it's a good concept that could be handled well or... not so well, just like God's Not Dead's "Christian student debating a philosophy professor" idea.

The premise is that a girl takes a shot for fame, succeeds to some degree, but then begins to face challenges regarding her fame vs. her values.

It's a little silly of a reason, but my cousin and I have this thing we've done every year where on Halloween, we dress up as a theme (villains, a series, etc.) and act in character, and it's really fun. We start on our costumes months ahead of time. Well, this year, he said he's too old to do it anymore, which is ridiculous, because we're nearly the same age. We've been planning for months. I'm really upset with him, and I don't want to talk to him. But I have to see him twice this week. I know it's silly, but it meant a lot to me.
Anyway, how are you all?
