Moss is like I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU BABY HIM WHEN HE COULD BE DOING SO MUCH BETTER SO EASILY but he really doesn't understand his brother might have a harder time. He wants Tansykit to be just as big and strong as the others without a problem. He doesn't get it. He thinks his brother is just acting that way on purpose or not trying hard enough.
He's also slightly angry because he really believes you won't learn unless you learn from experience and if their mama keeps babying him, how will he ever do it on his own?
He's worried but his blunt and rude and just doesn't like to play around. He's too serious about everything but like his dad says, he has no tact yet. <

Honestly, I can see a sort of sibling rivalry between Tansy and Moss, but like Tansy is totally unaware? He’s just such a small weak boy who just needs a little extra time, and I can see him trying to bond with Moss but it’s hard because of their obvious difference? Idk, what to do you think, Onyx?

But ANY time he does better than Moss, moss would probably get pretty upset about it and act like its a thorn in his side until he GETS better at it. Possibly even training extra to get the skill. <

While it usually took a long time for Rueberry to tame her anger, it took only a matter of seconds for her to calm down. Like earlier she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then nodded to herself. Kits would be kits, but they still needed to learn their manners. Without thinking much of it Rueberry leaned forward to press her nose against her mate's flank before turning to eye her smallest son. Even if her family seemed like it was dysfunctional, she wouldn't wish for any more than this. Rueberry sighed. Her family was whole. They had different opinions, but that was okay. As long as her family was intact...
The chocolate tortoiseshell reached down to lick Tansykit. "Are you okay?" She asked, knowing he hated when an argument broke out. Her voice was calm and reassuring. Waiting for an answer she turned her copper gaze toward Violetkit and Mosskit. Then she looked to her mate. He was the calm water to her raging fire, the moon to her sun, the cold to her heat. They complemented each other so well. Rueberry was more than lucky to have Thistleshine there for her, and luckier yet to have her kits.
For now she remained silent. She would give Mosskit his chance to apologize now that Thistleshine had broken through his moment of annoyance. Once he apologized she was going to suggest they do something together since the whole family was around. It wasn't every day they got to spend time together as a whole what with Thistleshine still an active warrior and quite busy with his daily tasks.

[Part of me thinks that as an apprentice, Thistleshine might have been a big ball of ambitious flame and "stronger than thou" attitude, but it's been tempered by age and experience. He's still ambitious and determined, but he's mellowed his outlook and temper with time. He sees Moss's potential, and he's trying to teach him early how to control his impatience and be a better warrior in the long run.]

Iceclaw merely nodded in response and had already shrugged off the incident in his mind. It didn't appear to him that she disliked him, and everyone got annoyed from time to time. She couldn't help it, and she meant no harm by it. If anything, it was his fault for looking away so quickly.
However, he did need to look away to walk without ending up with his face in a tree, so he focused his attention to the world around him. Now that the sun had risen fully, the white tom was able to appreciate the day more than he had when he first woke up.
Being early on in newleaf, frost still coated the grass in the wake of sunrise, adding a crisp edge to each blade. Iceclaw was tempted to leap around, relishing in the crunching feel of the stiff grass beneath his paws. He refrained, though, because he didn't exactly want to alert every piece of prey in the area to their location with kit like antics. Instead, he walked in an amiable silence beside Doveheart, his eyes now on the changing colors in the sky.

Mosskit drew in a deep breath, his eyes closed, before letting it out slowly. He turned towards his mother and siblings, then opened his eyes. They locked in on Tansykit and he stepped forward. Once he was in front of him, he spoke, though the tone of annoyance could still lightly be heard. "I'm sorry if I upset you, Tansykit. It wasn't my intention. I was speaking my honest mind and didn't think how it might affect you. I'll do by best to not let it happen again."
He then turned and looked towards his mother, "Mama I'm sorry for upsetting you as well. I have a temper gifted to me and I let it run wild. I still don't understand why you do the things you do for him. Even if he's smaller, he deserves to be treated the same as us or I honestly don't believe he will get better. I'm not saying it to be mean, I am just worried." He sighed once more, flicking his tail then nodding, "But you are our Mama and you and Papa know what is best for us. So I will put more trust in you and what you decide is best for him. I'll try to be kinder if that's truly what you want from me."
He shuffled his feet a bit, before breaking eye contact with her and looking towards his father for approval of his actions. He hadn't done anything to his sister, so felt no need to apologize to her, so he hoped this was enough to see the look of pride grace Thistleshine's face.

Thistleshine watched as Mosskit stepped up to apologize, and he did, in fact, feel pride warming his chest. Even if he could tell that his son wasn't quite into the apology, it took a big cat to go forward and admit that he hurt some feelings. When the white and brown patched kit looked back towards his father, Mosskit would definitely see the pride in his eyes. He even gave the little tom an accepting nod, encouraging him to notice that this was the...graceful thing to do.
Now he watched to see how his smaller son handled the apology. He wasn't half-worried about Rueberry - after all, despite her fire and barb, she loved their kits dearly and wouldn't stay irritated with the blunt Mosskit for long - but he wanted to see if his gentle Tansykit would accept his apology.
He was aware that he needed to go on patrol, and would find the other cats involved in just a moment, but he was curious about how all of this would turn out. His kits loved one another, after all, they all did.

Tansykit wasn’t hurt, physically, or emotionally. He knew he had problems, and he also knew Mosskit didn’t understand them. It was hard to blame someone when they just didn’t understand. He gave Rueberry a nod, pawing at the ground and feeling particularly awkward and uncomfortable being the center of attention at that moment. “...M’fine mama, really, just got a little frightened,” he explained, shooting a look back at the fresh kill pile. Maybe he would eat the bird that fell on him, teach it a lesson.
But for now, he had bigger things to deal with. Tansykit turned back to his family, giving Violetkit a small flick of his tail to let her know that he appreciated having her there, as he looked over at his brother. “...It’s fine, Mosskit,” he said, taking the apology rather simply, he didn’t expand on it or say anything else. Simply accepted the apology and silently prayed to StarClan to let that be the end of it.

With the initial argument resolved Rueberry could fully relax.
The queen sighed, her muscles softening under her skin as she relaxed into a more natural sitting position against her littlest son. If Thistleshine hadn't came in and given his wise statement, Rueberry was sure she would still be arguing with Mosskit. Worry wormed its way into her mind. Am I a good enough mother? Queens shouldn't argue with their kits. It was the first time a thought like that had crossed Rueberry's mind, and the worry flashed in her copper eyes if only briefly. She was spared from journeying deeper into these thoughts when Mosskit spoke his verbal apology.
Pride swelled in the molly's chest. She could feel her heart growing with the emotion. Rueberry inched over to lean forward and nudge little Mosskit, a smile on her face. "Apology accepted, my strong warrior," the queen gently mewed. "It takes courage to name your faults, even when somebody else tells you to." The queen turned her gaze to Thistleshine for a second before returning her attention back to Mosskit. "I suppose I should apologize as well, for snapping at you, and for also giving you my temper," she added with a chuff of laughter. Now that Thistleshine had mellowed out in his seasons as a warrior, there was no way Mosskit had attained that temper of his from his father - he had gotten it all from his fiery mother.
With everything now under control, Rueberry settled back down, but not before she scooped up her kits by the scruff and sat them all down beside her. "Now, since we're all friends again, why don't we do something? Violetkit," Rueberry looked at her only daughter that she had heard less from than Tansykit and Mosskit, "do you want to suggest a game?" The chocolate tortoiseshell wanted to give all her kits a chance to speak up for themselves and stand out in their own way, so she wanted to give Violetkit a chance to speak out instead of being pushed to the side by what had happened between her brothers. She also wanted to involve Thistleshine, but she was sure he had his warrior duties to tend to, but instead of assuming she turned to the tom to ask. "Are you on patrol right now?" |

"Technically, I'm supposed to be on a patrol," Thistleshine admitted, hating that he might have to forfeit time with his family to get his duties fulfilled. The silver tabby tom glanced around camp, and since he didn't see any other cats preparing to leave camp, the warrior relented for the time being.
"...However, I don't see why I can't stay until the rest of the patrol actually wakes up." He promised his family.
