Stormfeather frantically searched the water, her amber eyes growing even wider in distress as she dove underneath once more, desperate to find the kit. She began to come up when she spotted something black in the water. Batkit! she thought. Swimming over to the kit, she gently closed her mouth around the kit's scruff, pulling him out of the water. Paddling while keeping her head and the kit above, she made her way to the shore.

Gobyswim breathed a sigh of Relief as she saw Stormfeather snatch the kit up. She swam up to shore.
"Is he alright. How did that happen! Whats going on" She said, he voice high and breathless as she got to shore. She kept spitting out questions, talking more than the shy she cat would normally. "How could Batkit nearly drown when he was so close to shore?" She said, assuming the kit was knocked out. She paced the shoreline, staring at Stormfeather with wide eyes.

The reality was Batkit shouldn't have nearly drowned. He was five moons old, at that point he should know how to handle the waves, even the rougher ones. It was simple to, of course. All he would have had to do was jump a little bit and ride the small (but big to him) he wave. But he didn't. He was still horribly behind when it came to swimming, and he was too scared to lift his paws, freezing up as the wave took him under and panicking too much to do anything but flail his paws around in terror.
He felt relief when some cat snagged his scruff, becuaenat that point his vision had gone all blurry. Once they made it to shore he coughed up water weakly, his body trembling from the after affects of terror. He could hear Gobyswim faintly, but couldn't find the words to respond to him. (Also I have Mousepath, Brinewhisker, and Pikepaw open if anyone wants to rp with them!)

((I also have Slyfoot open.))
Kelpwhisker couldn't help but sympathize with Rayhunt. It was a terrible thing to lose a mate and kit at the same time. She had a stillborn kit herself along side Sharkkit. Maybe that was why she had been so willing to take Batkit when the situation had called for it.
Speaking of her son...Kelpwhisker looked towards the shore and saw..nothing. No Stormfeather, no Batkkit, no Gobyswim. For a moment, she remained calm. They had probably took him somewhere to play. But further searching showed her nothing of the sort. They weren’t anywhere on the first level of the camp and there was no reason for them to have gone up any cliffs. She nervously craned her neck towards the water and, as she saw the warriors emerge with her kit danging from Stormfeathers mouth, she raced away from Rayhunt to the edge of the Shallows. She saw him placed on the ground just as she arrived, coughing up water and shaking like a leaf.
"Oh Batkit! Are you alright?" She cried and immediately drawing the soaking kitten against her, licking his fur in the opposite direction in between nosing his tiny body. Her amber eyes, flints of angered fire, turned on the younger she-cats. "What happened? Did he get pulled down by the beast? Why weren't you two watching him better!? You know he cant swim!" She hissed, curling around the sopping kitten to partially block him from the other warriors. "And for Spirits sake, would one of you go get the Mistwatcher for the kit you almost drowned!"
--
Sharkkit opened her mouth to respond but closed it abruptly. Her green eyes wide, she stared down at her paws for a long moment in thought. She had never considered she had a power like that before! What if she could talk to sharks? She would be the most powerful warrior in ShoreClan history. She would become the next leader for sure! "I....I dont know! I've never seen a shark in real life." She mewed softly in contemplative awe, completely unaware of what was happening at the other end of the Shallows.
--
Out of the sight of Fallentide, Crabpaw continued to explorenear the fence. He kicked aside bits of two-leg trash as he went. His nose wrinkled in disgust as he touched a weird clear leaf with some honey-like substance in it that stuck to his paw. He violently shook it until the weird leaf fell back to the ground. He kicked dirt over it while uttering about horrible two-legs. As he turned to walk away from the sweet scent, he nearly fell face first into a pile of recently eaten fresh-kill. A strange, fresh scent lingered around it and he bent to sniff it again. Not MoorClan.
"Uh....Duskpepper...I found something."

Batkit vaguely heard his mother yelling at the two young warriors and he wished he could sink into the ground. You know he can't swim! Those words pierced his ears and he let out a soft whimper, wanting to protest that he could, in fact, swim. He just wasn't ready to do so confidently. Maybe he shouldn't have been in the water at all, though, because the water was a pretty scary place for a small kit who clearly feared its vast expanses. The black haired tom opened his mouth, trying to say something but only ended up coughing up more water instead, his ears pinned back in complete and utter shame.
His terror slowly started to fade, feeling his mothers rough tongue running through his soaking wet fur, and all he could really do was tremble and press himself against Kelpwhiskers fur. He dared to crack open his eyes, his vision blurry from the water so he had to blinked it out as he looked up with terrified yellow eyes. He just wanting to sink into the ground and disappear, but instead he managed to cough out two words to his mother, "my... idea."

... ↪ i hate writing more than i gotta but i'll do it for hawk <3 sorry for taking five hundred years, blame my job
... ↪ Coralfox | Camp (Shoreline) requesting Falconflight -- Today wasn't starting off very well. Patrols without her had already gone and she's sure that's what her son had been roped into doing because she couldn't find Crabpaw. Nor could she spot her kit's father—Slyfoot was mostly likely doing his best to avoid her.
Coralfox was already annoyed and getting antsy with boredom, but her paws brought her down to the beach. Still no Slyfoot to be seen, but she figured that. There were, however, a ton of young warriors and kits off to once side and Falconflight on the other. She chose to pursue the latter.
As she let her front paws get lapped by the tide, Coralfox was about to call out at Falconflight but bit her tongue before she could say anything snarky. With a quick peek over her shoulders at her patchy and fleshy legs, she pushed forward into the water as well. It was so soothing. Almost enough to better her mood.
--
Duskpepper | Thunderpath (Twoleg Outskirts) w/ Crabpaw -- Hearing Crabpaw's call distracted him from his worries enough to trot over to the senior apprentice with his typically slitted eyes narrowed in concern—not that he actually looked any different. "Hm-mmm?" he hummed, sniffing at the old food that the younger tom had just preoccupied himself with.
"Not MoorClan," he murmured, unbeknownst confirming Crabpaw's thought already. If not them, then who could it be? Duskpepper did some stalking around nearby. Had to be intruders of somesort. Outsiders, perhaps. "Hopefully nothing more than cuuurious kittypets, nya ha," he assumed lightly. It's not like they went far past the border into their territory or they would have caught scent trails and more clues like this one before now.

Stormfeather looked between Gobyswim and Kelpwhisker, the usually talkative she-cat at a loss for words. Her heart was pounding against her chest as she stood on the shore, her fur dripping wet. Lowering her head at Kelpwhisker, she tried to speak. "I...I don't know. One minute he was fine and then the next..." her voice trailed off as she looked at Batkit. He could have drowned, she thought miserably, head hanging low. She had been wrong to push the kit to try and swim.
Riversong tilted his head at the kit's response. "I saw a shark once," he murmured, thinking of the time his brother had once been attacked, the tom swimming too far out. He had barely survived, but his back legs were nearly nonexistent. Remembering the story he had told Sharkkit, he quickly added, "I mean twice. But if you ever do see a fin in the water, don't swim towards it. Even if you can speak shark." He spoke the last words in a stern tone. He didn't want Sharkkit to go out and look for a predator that could kill her.

"I will deal with you after you stop coughing up sea water." Kelpwhisker scolded the kit and tapped him carefully on the back to encourage more of the brine to leave his lungs. It wasn't uncommon for kits to swallow water but still. He had been watched by two full warriors and still almost drowned. In camp. no less! She would be having words with her brother when he returned about safety and how some cats shouldn't be charge of watching the younger cats for a while. "I expected better from you two. You know how dangerous the water can be." Kelpwhisker hissed. She glanced nervously back at Sharkkit but saw she was standing solidly on a piece of stone, barely in the water as she talked to Riversong. This was quite enough swimming for her kits for the day. If she saw these two near the nursery anytime soon...she bristled at the thought. "Go do something productive...hunt or something. I dont care." Kelpwhisker mewed dismissively to the younger cats before calling for Sharkkit to come back to her. She picked Batkit up herself and made her way towards the Mistwatcher den.
--
"Okaaaay!" the kit drawled with a bit of a huff. She could totally take a shark, even if she couldn't talk to it. She would just hunt it like a big fish. She was about to ask about the time he saw a Sharkkit before her ears perked at the sound of her mothers angry shout. She spun to look at her mother and saw her wrapped around Batkit possessively and glaring at Gobyswim and Stormfeather. The she-kit frowned. What happened over there? "Sorry, Riversong, I gotta go. Mama looks really mad...tell me about the sharks later!" she mewled as she scrambled out of the water with ease and ran after to her mother as Kelpwhisker began her way to the Mistwatcher den.
--
Crabpaw couldn't make out the scent. Every outsider smelled differently so, unless he had caught their scent many times, he wouldn't be able to single them out. Hopefully it was just a couple of lucky kittypets who had followed the Thunderpath from the town to the beach. "Still, we should tell Fallentide so he can keep an eye on it." Crabpaw mewed with a shrug. It was probably nothing. He kicked some dirt over the scraps to keep scavengers away from it and made his way back towards Fallentide, knowing Duskpepper would follow. He saw his leader waiting for them near a fence post and doped his head, retelling what he had found. The leader frowned and looked at Duskpepper for confirmation.
"Well, we haven't caught anyone yet and they have been staying by the fences. Ill send extra patrols this way and towards the MoorClan border as well." the leader mused aloud. "What do you think Duskpepper?"

Stormfeather's ears flattened against her head as she listened to Kelpwhisker, murmuring a low "Sorry," but knowing the she-cat wouldn't listen. She stood up and headed over towards the entrance, pausing as Sharkkit went past her and towards her mother.
"Tried to drown a kit today?" Riversong drawled as his niece as she slunk by, standing up now. His eyes glanced over to where the mother and her kits had disappeared. "Fallentide will hear about this. You probably won't be having anyone to mentor anytime soon...or having any kits." he stated matter-of-factly.
"Shut up!" The tabby snapped as she disappeared out of camp.

(So sorry for the late reply, had a busy day yesterday! ;v;)
Falconflight gave her still-soaking pelt a shake and ran her tongue over the fur on her chest a few times. She cringed slightly at the taste of salt on her tongue, deciding she'd wait for her fur to dry out normally before giving herself a wash. Feeling the gentle ebb and flow of the waves against her paws, Falconflight allowed herself to relax again. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted another cat entering the water a little ways away. Wading a bit deeper again, the dark gray she-cat called out to her Clanmate, "Hey, Coralfox." she paddled closer, remembering that the older warrior was a bit hard of hearing. "How are you?" she asked once she was closer.
Rainrunner dropped a bundle of cobwebs into a small hollow in the back of her den, pushing it further with a paw. She wanted to make sure it stayed nice and dry should it be needed. The pale she-cat moved back toward her unorganized stash and picked out several sprigs of mint, its strong scent tingling her nose. Rainrunner paused once she'd pushed the mint into its own spot, her ears swiveling back at the sound of footsteps.

((Kelpwhisker normally isnt this mean but now Stormfeather and Gobyswim are on her bad side XD ))
Kelpwhisker ushered Sharkkit ahead of her and into the log before following suit. She carefully placed Batkit down on his own paws before finally turning to look up at Rainrunner. She dipped her head quickly to the Mistwatcher, her tail still lashing behind her from dealing with the young warriors. "Rainrunner, could you look over Batkit please? Some of the warriors almost let him drown in the Shallows." she growled before leaning closer to the she-cat so the kits wouldn't hear her. She didn't want to scare them. "He may have been attacked by the beast but Im not sure. Its never come this close to camp." She needed to keep it quiet unless they were certain otherwise the clan would begin to treat him different. To survive the beast was either a great blessing or horribly ill omen.

Gobyswim looked on as the angry queen walked forward, giving her wet, helpless kit over to Rainrunners protection. She instictevly wanted to blame Rainrunnner for this mess. All Gobyswim had done was offer the kit some encouragement and then went back for him when she had swam off to go hunting. Thank goodness Stormfeather had grabbed him. Gobyswim kept her mouth shut however. It would be wrong to blame Stormfeather, or Batkit. It would be wrong to blame anyone.. except maybe the monster. How else could Batkit have gotten so far out. Without the monster, it would have been quit a challenge to overcome the waves pushing you back to shore. But with the monster pulling you out, you could keep going, and keep going, and keep going, in till you were floating in the middle of the ocean, dead.

... ↪ I didn't even remember that Coralfox was hard of hearing lmaoo good job
... ↪ Duskpepper, Citrinecoat, Jasminepaw | Patrol w/ Fallentide, Crabpaw -- With a bright expression on the outside showing admiration for Fallentide, on the inside Duskpepper was groaning. More patrols over some kittypets? Perhaps there was such a thing as being overly-cautious, but he didn't want to undermine Crabpaw. The leader already wanted a warrior's confirmation from him. He couldn't say what he truly thought, so before he could agree, Citrinecoat and Jasminepaw were emerging from the foliage.
"MoorClan cats on our end. Didn't see them, but there were markings past our border," the multi-colored Maine Coon announced. His chest was puffed as he tried to appear very confident. Next to him, Jasminepaw was hunched with downcast eyes at the ground. The look on her face was hard-to-tell but she almost seemed...furious? Duskpepper wanted to know if it was because she was mad at their bordering clan or if Citrinecoat was making her go along with a lie. Since the speckled gray tom believed Citrinecoat was lying, he was going to go with that. Still, he didn't speak out against him.
--
Coralfox | Camp (Shoreline) w/ Falconflight -- A conversation was probably inevitable, but Coralfox was only going with the lesser group of one over the cats that were bickering about some kits at the other end of this area of the shore. Falconflight needn't waste her energy talking to her, but the white she-cat couldn't be rude now. Certainly Slyfoot had spread around enough rumours about her.
"A little upset that Crabpaw was called off onto a patrol this morning while I'm stuck here. I'd rather be out there, too," she huffed. Not that she was directly envious of her son. She was glad he was doing something with his life, but she didn't enjoy being left behind.
Feeling self-conscious, she padded far enough into the shallow water to still be close to Falconflight and also be able to sit down and hide her burn-scarred flanks in the water. Coralfox had to push her ears in the direction of the slightly younger she-cat in case she decided to actually respond.

"I'm f-f-fine," Batkit insisted in between coughs, his fur bristling a little from being carried around like a helpless kit. His entire body was still shaking from the after shocks of terror, it having subsided into this faint sensation of dread, the thought of going back into the water now completely off the table. He didn't want to go near it again- was it the beast that had took him? Was it trying to take him away from the clan like it did his mother? He stood there, his shaking getting worse at the thought, before brushing it away. Someone would have told him already if the beast had gotten him, right? He looked over at SHarkkit with wide, nervous eyes, unsure of what was going to happen. Even if he wasn't attacked by the beast, was he in trouble for trying to swim?

(Lol Stormfeather always was on somebody's bad side as a trouble maker xD) Riversong stood up, the long-legged tom stretching out each of his legs. His eyes flickered over to the shallows, and he frowned. Two warriors had been watching Batkit...he had seen them with his own eyes swimming next to the kit. So how did Batkit get pulled under? His thoughts traveled to the beast, and his ears flattened against his head. Is the beast so cruel that it would target the only kit of its last victim? The usually cold tom felt a brief moment of sadness as he thought of Fintail. The she-cat had still been young when the beast had claimed her. And now, was her son marked?

Rainrunner turned away from her sorting at the sound of her name, spotting Kelpwhisker standing in the entrance to her den. She nodded, moving closer to the kit and taking note of what his mother added about the beast. "Hopefully it isn't that. Did you see how long he was under for?" she asked, noticing that the kit seemed to have a bit of a cough. Crouching down to Batkit's level, Rainrunner meowed in a quiet voice, "Batkit, I'll need you to take a few breaths for me, just so I can make sure there isn't anything wrong."
(I always read the other cat's description before I interact with them bc I'm a bit paranoid of making mistakes haha! so that's how I caught it) Falconflight sat down as well, curling her tail over her paws underwater. "I get that, I'd have liked to go out as well. It gets a bit boring sitting around in camp." she responded, taking a deep breath as the breeze rushed through her fur. After a moment, she decided talking was better than just sitting in silence and continued, "How do you think Crabpaw's training is going?"

(Congrats to Clover on becoming the deputy! I was thinking we could just assume Mousepath is Fallentides first deputy?)
Sharkkit sat between her mother and brother, looking confused a bit nervous. What had she missed? She brushed her shoulder against Batkit to comfort him when she saw the fear in his eyes and turned to look up at the older she-cats with questions in her eyes.
Kelpwhisker grimaced and shook her head. "He was with Stormfeather and Gobyswim. I thought he would be alright." She looked down at the kits and licked them each on the head quickly. Her paws kneaded against the soft bark and moss anxiously. Her eyes softened at the words Batkit coughed out and and bent to lick his ear again. "No...youre not in trouble. You just scared me half to death." She sighed. "If you wanted to swim you should have asked me or Fallentide. Maybe a senior warrior." He certainly wouldn't be swimming with any cat that comes along anymore, she was sure of that!
–
Fallentides ear flicked in annoyance and he let out a slow draw of breath. Outsiders on one end and MoorClan on the other. What a mess. "I definitely have to increase patrols here and at the border then." He looked over the group for a moment before deciding he would talk about it with the deputy. "Lets head back to camp." He growled softly before heading toward the tunnel without making sure the others followed. He knew they would.
Crabpaw looked between the older toms and moved back by Jasminepaw. She looked annoyed or something. "Whats wrong with you? Thorn in your paw?" He asked, glancing over the younger apprentice quickly as the group began to move.

Rainrunner listened carefully, backing up a bit when she was finished and turning slightly so that she could look at Kelpwhisker out of her remaining eye. "It sounds like he's had quite a shock, and I suspect the cough isn't anything serious. I'm going to give him some coltsfoot anyway, hopefully it'll clear it up quicker." the healer padded over to one of her stores, using a paw to scoop some of the green leaves out of their spot. Returning to the waiting queen, Rainrunner dropped the herb at her feet and instructed, "Give him one leaf before he goes to sleep tonight, and if it's not better in the morning give him another. I'll stop by to check on him sometime tomorrow if you'd like."

... ↪ Coralfox | Camp (Shoreline) w/ Falconflight -- Pointless conversation. Exchanging pleasantries and small talk. Falconflight was naive, but so was Coralfox for thinking the young she-cat actually kept to herself like she typically did inside of camp. Perhaps she was only acting meek whenever someone noticed her, because outside of camp she did open up more somehow.
Swishing her tail around in he water, Coralfox reflected on her son at Falconflight's question. Not that she expected or wanted him, but she did dote on Crabpaw as far as his training went. He was going to be the best. She wouldn't rest until he built a good life for himself. His skills could always use improvement, but even though he was barely old enough to be considered a senior apprentice, she truly believed he could take on some of the necessary trials required for his warrior ceremony already.
"I think it's taking too long," the white she-cat huffed, squinting her green gaze at the expanse of the sea in front of them. "I don't mind more fine-tuning of his abilities, but I'm certain Crabpaw is great enough to pass everything now. Nobody will take him out. Nobody has started his trials. I'm tired of waiting. I want my son to be all that he can be as soon as possible. The sooner he's a warrior, the sooner I can be unburdened and the sooner I can stop worrying about making sure he's always practicing. Then I'll have more time to patch things up with his father."
Well, that was definitely more words than she had expected to say.
--
Jasminepaw | Territory (Back to Camp) w/ Crabpaw -- Not that Duskpepper appeared as disgruntled as he truly was, so it was a confusing move for him to stalk away from the group entirely with a smile on his face. Jasminepaw, however, wasn't trying to hide how disgruntled she was. Seeing Citrinecoat hover in front of them whispering lies into Fallentide's ear made her frown deepen. Then she heard Crabpaw and it brought her back down to focusing on her immediate surroundings instead of on what others were doing.
What was wrong? Jasminepaw gulped, she couldn't say and hoped that her thick fur hid her shudder. Citrinecoat made some pretty intimidating threats, but it wasn't so bad. He just wanted to cause trouble it seemed. To give the clan something to do. She couldn't believe Fallentide would believe something baseless; with no proof. Perhaps Duskpepper went to go investigate it? Oh right, answering Crabpaw. She got wrapped up in her analytic thoughts again.
"Just...tired. Not used to being out of camp a lot–especially not to the edge of our border and back," she meowed but didn't exactly need it as an excuse. It was true, but admitting it made her seem so lame. How could Crabpaw ever want to be friends with someone so lazy and unadventurous. Jasminepaw took a deep breath and gave an exhale before her expression became a bit more normal. "Plus, investigating with Citrinecoat was pretty insufferable," she added bitterly.

Falconflight fell silent for a moment, unsure how to reply. Her tail twitched in the water as she watched Coralfox staring out across the ocean. "Sorry if this is a bit of a sore subject," she said after a pause, "but I'm sure you could try and talk to his mentor to get a better idea of where he stands. If he qualifies for the trials, there's no reason he shouldn't be allowed to complete them a bit earlier than most." The tabby she-cat waded over to a rock she spotted under the waves and climbed onto it, giving her fur a quick shake as the breeze blowing in was making her wet fur feel cold.
