Gobyswim looked at Stormfeather nervously. She didn't think her words had helped the kit. Of course he should be swimming at this age, but Batkit shouldn't think that. He had been forced to grow up far too fast with his mother dying. She remembered how she had woken up one morning, to find a little black kit playing in the water like an apprentice, and his mom watching on, teasing him. His mother had been a great cat, Gobyswim had never been that close to her, but she had always been nice.
Gobyswim sighed and slid into the water. She was only making things worse for the kit. Her nervous energy probably just made him more nervous. She padded out in till she couldn't touch the bottom, her legs carving a path through the water as her head looked around. She instinctively knew the rhythm of the waves, and kept her head above them. She swam parallel to the shore, hoping to reach her favourite hunting spot by the elders den. She gave a last glance at Batkit.

Fallentide nodded to the apprentices in greeting. Crabpaw met it by dipping his head almost to the ground before standing at attention. "Yes, we should head out. Crabpaw, take the rear. Jasminepaw, stay close to the group." the leader ordered before turning and going through the tunnel. Personally, he would have rathered just swimming out of camp to the two-leg beach but he wasn't confident in the young apprentice being able to make it that far. The tunnels made him feel closed in but he shouldered on without a flinch.
"So, do you think were going to fight someone?" Crabpaw whispered to Jasminepaw from the back of the pack, though the sound traveleld in the enclosed space. ... ↪ Clover and Hawk omgg the gang's back together ;o; With new members already~ Bless
... ↪ Jasminepaw, Duskpepper, Citrinecoat | Tunnel Exit w/ Fallentide, Crabpaw -- Surely the echo on the sandy walls reached more ears than just hers and it made Jasminepaw hunch inwardly out of embarassment for a moment. He was trying to start a conversation now? When so many influential toms were with them? She poked her head over her shoulder to blink at Crabpaw a few pawsteps behind her. She held back a second so she could be closer to him. If anyone asked why she parted feom the group, she could say Duskpepper's wispy tail was tickling her nose too much. That part wasn't even a lie either.
"I really hope I won't have to fight anyone, actually," she answered without even having to keep her voice down because it was typically quiet amd humble. Yet, there were times where she could be loud and exuberant. Though Jasminepaw wanted to be as discreet as possible right now in tow of three warriors. "We'll just find some stale scents and be immediately on our way back to camp," the white she-cat guessed, trying to make her prediction sound confidant because she hoped it'd be true. 'I only came along to spend time with you.'

(got all my cats open, gonna post something for some of them so anyone can feel free to jump in :0)
Falconflight rose to her paws and gave her pelt a shake, feeling restless after a nap. Giving her chest fur a few licks, the tabby warrior started to make her way down the shore. There wasn't too much going on at the moment and she was itching for a swim. Once she reached the water, Falconflight picked up the pace and bounded straight in, kicking off of the sandy bottom as she began to paddle around in the shallower area. She watched the group of cats gathered along the edge, noticing her brother among them. After a few minutes, she swam back up to the beach, wading out of the waves and feeling more energized than before.
Wrenpaw sat with her tail curled around her forepaws, just barely keeping herself from dozing off. She regretted going to sleep so late the previous night and forced her eyes to stay open. Moving down the beach, the gray and white apprentice dipped her forepaws into the water that lapped at the shore, hoping it'd wake her up somewhat. If that didn't help, she'd consider finding some other apprentice to bother, though she had a feeling none were in camp at the moment.

"She bites like a shark too." Kelpwhisker chuckled. "Trying to teach her to be gentle was a nightmare." Her tail flicked in annoyance, as if it remembered many nights of being attacked by bored kits. As the queen looked between her kits , both in different parts of the Shallows, she couldn’t help but feel a bit nostalgic for when they were so much smaller. She knew they were going to be great warriors no matter what. "As for Batkit....well, let us hope he will grow out of it and if he doesn’t, we will deal with it then."
--
Sharkkit perked up at the thought of training and showily dove back under the water for the few seconds she could hold her breath. "Oh! I know that." She mewed with a big nod. "Thats why my uncle is going to give me the best mentor. He knows how strong I am! And then when Im a warrior, I can bring him the shark." She paddled thoughtfully for a few moments before looking back at Riversong with a devious expression. "If we dont eat it, maybe we can use it to scare MoorClan!"
--
Crabpaw frowned at her answer and let out a huff. "But thats so boring." Crabpaw mewed with the slight edge of a whine. "I want to show off my skills for everyone!" As a senior apprentice, he was now old enough to stat his Trials to become a warrior but it had already been a moon and he hadn't heard so much as a peep about him doing any of them. It was becoming disheartening at this point that the clan obviously didn't think he was ready.
The leader flicked his ears back toward the conversation happening behind him and grimaced slightly. It was true that no one had starting giving Crabpaw his Trials but there really wasn't much of a rush. He was still so young. A few extra moons wouldn't kill him. Suddenly, a dot of light could be seen in the distance and Fallentide quickened his pace towards it with the others in tow. With a great sigh, they exited the tunnels and he squinted into the bright light. They were a good few fox-lengths away from the fence and the Thunderpath. This would be a good place to start. "Spread out and look for signs of trepassers, MoorClan or otherwise."

"Was it hard, raising a kit that wasn't your own?" Rayhunt asked, curious. He didn't mean to be rude, but he wondered if the queen had any second thoughts on taking on the kit.

((So it has come to my attention that we only have two visible deputy candidates as of this moment. There are only five warriors over the age of 30 moons, one of which is mine and two of which are Darknesque, who has already told me she doesnt want to be deputy. Im not sure what to do about this.))

(Would it be ok that Batkit is a Dryclaw but actually tries to work towards being okay in water? Also imma gonna have him get hit by a wave and taken into a rough current if that's ok, if not o won't. Also I can make a cat w/ that criteria if u wanted. TBH I kinda wanna use Mousespots anyways because I never got to flesh him out. ^^)
Batkit knew better than to try and follow Gobyswim. He wasn't a good swimmer, his abilities lacking compared to the other kits his age and even though the monster wasn't there to get him, he could still very well drown. His fur bristled at that thought, but his fur was so weighed down with water that it was impossible to tell his fur was spiked up. He squeaked when a wave hit him in the face, but he buried his paws into the sand so he wasn't going to get pulled away. He felt the tug on his legs, but stayed his ground, looking back at the warrior he was with. "Why are the waves so big?" He squeaked out, hating how small he was. He wasn't like his sister, who kept her head above the waves because she www a good swimmer, he had to stand his ground so he wouldn't be taken away by the waves.

Kelpwhisker took a moment to think about that and folded her tail over her paws. She had been there when Batkit was born, had grown up with Fintail, though they hadn't been close, shared the same ShoreClan blood...well, half of it. It had only seemed natural to take him in, really. "No, it was the right thing to do. ShoreClan doesn't abandon its own in times of need. Though I hadn't planned on having my own kits, so taking on another was a bit difficult at first." Kelpwhisker told him simply. "I do hope Im raising him the way Fintail would have wanted to;"

Gobyswim looked behind her at the little kit nervously. Still, other cats were keeping an eye on him. She continued swimming, the scent and feel of the salt water calming her. She dove down under the waves, opening her eyes to the sting of the saltwater. When they were open she could see her white paws on front of her, clawing and pulling her deeper and deeper. There was a rock only a few tail lengths underneath her, and she sunk down to it. She pushed her hind legs off of it and flew to the surface, reaching the top of the water with a laugh. The sea seemed calm today, and so did she.

Your own kits a hassle as well, even though at least she seems to show promise as a warrior!" Rayhunt looked dismissively at Batkit, who appeared to be scared of the gentle waves close to shore. He could respect being a dryclaw, but Batkit seemed to be nervous about everything. If he was really scared of water, which Rayhunt couldn't blame him for, he should just avoid it. He could find something else to be good at, and stop showing off his weakness as he danced away from the waves.

Kelpwhisker fought down the involuntary bristle that the words emotionally wrecked kit brought out of her. She raised her chin a bit higher in response and stored that strong of words away for later. "She takes after my brother, that much is sure. She is already so strong." Kelpwhisker agreed with a small nod. Her amber eyes flicked towards Rayhunt, unsure if what she was going to ask would cross a line for the younger tom. "What about you, Rayhunt? Would you...consider having kits again some time in the future?"
--
Fallentide watched Jasminepaw for a moment and almost decided to send her home when he saw her crouching by the Thunderpath. But...well she would have to learn eventually. He looked at the other members of the patrol and decided he should probably split them up. "Citrinecoat, keep Jasminepaw with you and show her a better way to track. Duskpepper, go catch up to Crabpaw." He could see the apprentice already wandering towards the beach. He would check around this area himself.

(hey guys!)
Riversong purred in amusement, the usually gruff tom showing his softer side. "Moorclan would be very scared if we sent our shark after him," he responded, his whiskers twitching in amusement. "But how would you send the shark to them? Unless..." He gave the kit a perplex look, tilting his head ever so slightly. "Sharkkit, can you speak to sharks?" He asked teasingly, pretending to look startled.
Stormfeather watched the waves press up against her paws. They didn't feel too strong to her, but she was bigger than the kit. "Maybe you can practice just standing against the waves, instead of actually swimming today." Her voice was relaxed, but concern flickered in her amber eyes. Batkit was already being weighed down by his wet fur. What if he couldn't keep himself above the water?

"N-no! I can do it. Shark kit can, so so can I!" He protested, his voice a little higher pitched as he tried to take a step forward. Unfortunately it had been at the wrong time, another, stronger wave hitting him and the surging current pulled him under. Panic shot through him as he was forced towards the shore, his body being battered as it tumbled and twisted in the water. He couldn't get himself above the water, and he was definitely going to die, unable to breath as he was being pulled back out into the current, trying to yell for help but water forcing its way into his mouth, water running down his throat. (Heyo!)

Rayhunt said. He had started the downward spiral of this conversation by insulting Kelpwhiskers kit, but his mood instantly soured when she brought up him having kits. Memories of a little black kit that was dead before it could even blink clouded his vision. When kit was born, he couldn't decide wether he loved that kit, or hated it for killing his mate and every future kitten they would have had. He still didn't quit know the answer. He imaged that little black kitten having a name, growing up, playing in the waves, and he loved it. But he remembered it had never moved, it had been dead on the ground with his mate dead beside it, and all he could feel was sadness and spite. Still, he had been so exited to be a father. "Maybe someday." He looked at Kelpwhiskers kits, and smiled.

She couldn't seem Batkit, and assumed he had gone back to his mother, scared of the waves. He had seemed so determined though. She wanted desperatly to just go out and hunt be herself, but she couldn't stop thinking about the kit. She paddled in place for a few seconds, before going back to shore, scanning the water for the little black kitten.

Stormfeather's eyes had wandered off of Batkit for a moment. When she looked back, the tom was nowhere to be found. Did he decide he didn't want to swim today? She looked over to where Kelpwhisker and Rayhunt were, but she didn't see Batkit. "Batkit?" She called out frantically, the she-cat's eyes frantically searching the camp. "Batkit!" Her voice was louder now, as she dove into the shallows. Holding her breath, she went under, feeling for the tomkit.

Gobyswim swum back to shore harder after she saw Stormwhisker dive into the water. Her lazy "I wonder where Batkit is?) pace from before quickly turned into a (The kit is drowning I need to save him Starclan help me) pace. She dove underwater in till she was where she thought the little kit should be. She scanned the waves, head swiveling back and forth anxiously. Her swimming seemed to be getting worse as she panicked about what could have happened to the little kit. Was that him, or was that just a log? Gobyswim had no idea, but she swam towards it regardless. Hopefully it was the kit, struggling to keep itself above the water, and not just a trick of her panicked eyes.
